Great low cost option. Despite seeming quite busy, they were very attentive. Drop off and pick up went smoothly and reasonably quickly. I was surprised how much of the ear was tipped, so be sure you know what that will look like before you choose it. Definitely obvious for anyone who spots and outdoor or community cat though! Will use them again.

set up an appointment to get our kitten neutered & microchipped. super impressed with how organized their facility is with being so high volume. parking is a little difficult but i expected that knowing how many spays/neuters they do. waited about 20 minutes in our car & then got a call to come inside. a member of their staff explained the process every step of the way. we got a call when he was out of surgery letting us know he did well & if we wanted to pick him up early. super happy with the care they provided! will recommend! (picture of our kitten stan just because 😁)

Love this place. They really care about your animals. They explain everything well. There’s even a free dog/ cat food table. Prices are very low and reasonable. Most of the help is very nice. It is crowded and loud. Cats and dogs everywhere. Just watch the floor because animals are nervous and have accidents.

Didn’t understand the miscommunication in getting a yearly or 3 yr rabies shot , they asked if I wanted 3 year, I stated yes, thank you, lady who brought out my cats stated miscommunication Hercules got only 1 year rabies, what was the miscommunication, also didn’t understand why others were going before me, when appointments are scheduled, didn’t know kittens had to have brief exam. I understood why I had to wait after I asked. Last visit to face when mooshoo was given medication and I asked someone if they could help me give it to him, a guy stated no,they couldn’t help, but time before a lady was so kind to help me, 2nd visit not so pleasant, I ask if no one can help me can the vet, he stated no, they are busy. Crying and very sad no one would help, just stood there looking at me. Ever since when ella one of my cats got fixed there, the service is not as good as it used to be.

Awesome! Place to go once you get there. Everyone is helpful. Friendly, larger and lots of seating. Everything moves fairly quickly. I was surprised. Takes a while to check out but and they got to make sure everything’s right.

FACE is fantastic!! For as busy as they are, they are efficient and the staff is very friendly! I’ve had 3 stray kittens end up in our garage in the past 2 years and have brought all of them to FACE for spay/neutering and micorchip. The cost of services can’t be beat! I also made a donation to FACE to «pay it forwrd» for others. BRAVO, FACE!!👏💙❤️😊🫶

FACE was highly recommended to me for reasonably priced services for my kittens by abdriend. She participates in CNR and takes them to FACE for their care. I did notice that the rowdier the dog, the sooner they will be treated/attended to. I did not like that they take my kittens one-by-one to the back and I cannot be with them when they received their vaccinations. Prices are very reasonable! Spay/neuter cats is $135. Most feline vaccines are $20-25 each. They also have assitances for those who are financially short to care for their pets. Overall, I would recommend them.

Amber

Very cute little kitty city. We enjoyed our experience, and they are very good about having available hand sanitizer about. The cats themselves are friendly and quiet (at least when we went). The cats tended to gravitate towards one person or they wanted to be left alone, so please be aware if you are bringing children. Or if you are expecting a super hands on experience, they are living beings after all. That said, they have a super cute cafe with a selection of coffees and teas and it never hurts to support local while getting a nice cup of Java! The staff was really friendly and would tell you information about any of the cats. They had two main rooms you can go into and tons of interactive cat toys to use for the kitties.

They were incredibly sweet when I showed up at the wrong time (two hours late) for our reservation. They saved the day and squeezed us in. Sweetest, sleepiest cats. A sleepy cat is a safe cat! We love the coffee too ❤️

We visited Nine Lives Café & Cat Lounge in Fountain Square during fall break and had a really good experience. The staff were kind and welcoming, and everything was clean and organized. We booked an hour online ahead of time, which I’d recommend since it makes the check-in simple and guarantees your spot. They had great coffee and a few treats — the kids liked the cake pops and the seasonal s’mores hot chocolate. There’s a separate room for kittens and another "zen room" for older cats, which was quieter and ended up being our favorite. It’s a calm, community-minded space that supports local cat rescues. We’ll definitely go back.

Took my daughter and my nieces for her birthday. Staff was lovely and the girls had fun with the kitties. I did miss all the cat art that used to be on the walls, but it was still a jolly place.

A relaxed little space to enjoy drinks and pastries, and play with an abundance of cats. When I visited, they had 18 kittens of up to ~5 months, all very playful and adorable. While I didn't order any food, spending an hour playing with adorable and friendly kittens is a wonderful way to spend time. Will absolutely visit again!

I took my pet Molly to Michigan St Vet Clinic, and from the moment we walked in, we were treated with kindness and compassion. The front desk staff was so sweet and helpful, and we were taken back quickly. After being told by another vet—after a $1,033 visit—that nothing could be done for my 12-year-old dog’s grade 4 heart murmur, I was devastated. Dr. Sam was an absolute angel. She was gentle with Molly, truly listened, explained everything clearly, and gave me hope. Molly was diagnosed with mitral valve disease and was prescribed the heart medication she needed without overcharging. I’m incredibly grateful to the entire staff at Michigan St Vet Clinic for taking such great care of my baby. ❤️🐾

I have visited here a few times for different reasons and pets. I’ve had a great experience every time. The prices are reasonable and I feel like they really care about the animals which is most important to me. I think the check in process is as close to seamless as it can be for a walk in only veterinary clinic and they keep their website current so you always know when they’re open. I Highly recommend them.

What in the world does someone have to do to get an answer on the phone. Its sad that I’ve called no less than 12 times back to back and unable to get an answer. You all refuse to listen to the pet parent and now my dog is ill and has to suffer for more days because you all will not answer the phone or listen when we ask for testing. I really wanna like this clinic. The pricing is good and yall are nice people. But you guys are making it hard. Friendly staff doesn’t make up for the suffering of my babies. I am willing to bet that there isnt going to be any help offered or any discounts offered for my other dog that is now ill because you guys refused to listen to the pet parent expressing concern and asking for testing. On 12/23/25 I was recommended to go to this clinic because my dog Mr. Peanut Rocket was extremely sick! I waited in tht parking lot from 630am until the doors opened at 9am. I was worried and upset running off no sleep because My dog kept vomiting and not eating for like 2-3 days so when we finally got in, the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. We were taken back in under 30 mins. They did an X-ray and labs. I was concerned about the bill because I was already low in funds because it was the holidays so they came back with the price and diagnosis and worked with me on my bill because I couldn’t afford it. After we worked that out, I was given medicine to take home and he was also given an IV because he was dehydrated. He was fine after 48 hrs just like they said!!!! I just want to say thank you guys so much for saving him. I don’t know what I would have done without you guys. My schnauzer is my 3rd child. You are truly God sent. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😊 🙏🏾😘

The vet techs and office people were really good but the woman dr ruined my whole experience. I’ve came here multiple times for multiple different situations with my animals and have been bringing my elderly dog here for his stress induced seizures. The doctor that came in our room today as rude, judge-mental and totally unprofessional. Comments that were totally unnecessary uncalled for and totally irrelevant. I brought my dad’s dog here for yearly shots with a couple of concerns aswell. The doctor also had no idea what medication THEY prescribed my dog and proceeded to get an attitude with me when I couldn’t remember the names of them. Last time I checked I wasn’t the vet. This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had here and I’m not sure we’ll come back again.

My boy got really sick on 03/02/26. When he started bloody diarrhea I brought him here.. Everyone was pleasant. I trust the care he received. The only issue I had was the wait. Yes I understand they take patients in order of situation. My dog was dehydrated and couldn’t keep anything down. We spent 7 hours here. I think they should have more doctors/ staff. They also were not very good about updating me or giving any timelines. I’m not sure I will go here in the future if he has another attack. I appreciate the care but my little dog needed care too in a timely manner.

I took my cat Adam to see Dr Summers for elevated lab tests & to have an ultrasound. She is an excellent vet who answered all my questions & was very thorough in her explanation of his condition. Her & the vet tech were very compassionate & caring. I highly recommend them. I am confident in their care of my baby. Adam also had an Endoscopy & is doing well after the procedure.

.We met with Dr. James to discuss concerns about possible anal cancer in our dog, Baxter. Dr. James was very informative and clearly explained all possible outcomes, which was exactly what I needed. After the exam, Dr. James explained that there were no signs of cancer, but biopsy samples were taken for further analysis. We were told we would receive the results within 7–10 days. I’m very grateful to have Indy Vet and their wonderful staff available to reach out to when needed.

Arrived at 11:30 pm – my cat had 2 seizure-like episodes prior to arrival. We were placed in a room right away and seen in order of urgency. A staff member would come in periodically to check on us. Dr was very good at listening to my concerns and what I remembered happened. They examined Mimzy, I found inner ear infection was probably cause. Put her on antibiotics and steroids with follow-up instructions. We were discharged at around 5am. 2 days later, Mimzy is showing signs of improvement. I am pleased with the efficiency and caring attitude of staff. They put me at ease right away. I was given a partial refund of my deposit, for actual services rendered. I got a follow-up email as well. I would definitely recommend them for any urgent care.

IndyVet did an amazing job with emergency surgery for our 13 year old doggo, Tucker. He came in with a mucocele in his gallbladder, and Dr Kloft went over literally everything with us, including talking to us in person for over an hour going over potential outcomes (good and bad) and let my wife and I make the best possible decision. He was in surgery for what felt like forever, but when we got the call from Dr Kloft that everything went well, it was a relief! At his 10 day check at his regular vet back in Fort Wayne, the surgery site is healing amazingly, and he is back to his old goofball self. The 4 week recovery is much harder on us with telling Tucker «no, you can’t do that» than I think it is on him. We are now 2 weeks in and you wouldn’t know he had pretty significant surgery by the way he acts now. The entire staff here is wonderful. Front desk staff on check in were very friendly, the nurses and techs who checked in on him while waiting for admission were great, Dr Fisher who did his admission was very friendly as well. If you have an emergency and your pet needs surgery, definitely come here.

I will be honest, in the current climate I have been skeptical of IndyVet (or any emergency vets) because of a few institutions’ tendencies to be a little predatory. However, I truly had a phenomenal experience with the neuro department at IndyVet. My 5 year old corgi Ruthie «went down» with IVDD during a giant snowstorm and I wasn’t able to get her from Bloomington to Indianapolis until several days after she became paralyzed in her back end. We worked with Dr. Tadros and her neuro team and it was honestly an even better experience than I could say I’ve had with my personal doctors. Dr. Tadros was kind, clear, realistic, and exceptionally caring. Her nurses were so patient and gentle and explained Ruthie’s treatment and long-term care needs to me in explicit detail. Dr. Tadros called me herself multiple times to give updates on Ruthie’s condition and while I was heartbroken and terrified, I felt very much supported through the whole experience. I cannot recommend Dr. Tadros, Nurse Kelsey, and Nurse Melissa enough if your fur baby is suffering from IVDD or any sort of spinal issue. —— IndyVet – this part is for you – I had a not-great interaction upon arrival with the lady with a brownish-gray bob and glasses at the front desk who made a really bad-taste joke about how my «credit card was going to be getting a workout» as I was checking in my paralyzed dog for emergency spinal surgery. I was honestly speechless to which she essentially responded with «she knows, that’s why she doesn’t have anything to say!» I found it to be a very jarring way to start my journey at IndyVet and would hope no one else has to deal with that. However, outside of my interactions with her, I had a really really great experience in the face of a really awful situation. I am very grateful, truly.

After our good girl Aerial passed away we began the search to replace the empty place in our hearts. We went to pet stores and the more we looked the more angry we became. Over priced puppy mill dogs. We searched the pound with no luck and finally went to Indy Humane. We were looking at the available dogs and we both saw this beautiful young female. Unlike many we looked at this dog didn't bark or shy away but rather see walked up to the gate and kissed my hand. That was it. We took her. She still has all that puppy energy and loves to zoom in the snow and she is learning not everything is to be chewed on and is content to disassembling her toys. She has been easy to house break and although the word NO has been a challenge she is slowly learning. She also has the greatest capacity to love. She is a joy to have. Thank you Indy Humane. We have a new baby girl to spoil. We have accepted the fact that part of the couch now belongs to her. So far she is a joy.

…i got my sammie (previously known as clarence) from here- he was the most gentle giant- i care for two community cats so at first it was so challenging, lol- almost thought I couldn’t figure out them bonding- "but" tonsss of toys, a huge cat tree house, and love alongside patience made it work- sammie is family- for life ❤️ thank you.

Love this place. You might have to wait to get your foster cat or dog in to be adopted, but they are great people. Please donate if you can. The animals here are loved and very well cared for. With the staffs witty adoption blog and skilled care my foster baby was adopted quickly. If your looking for a fur baby this is the place. Lots of loving animals are waiting for a home and the staff at Indy Humane make sure they are happy and healthy till then.

I DO NOT recommend for taking an animal who needs an immediate home ! I brought a dog here in need of a home. She was not stolen. Simply just without a home. The woman who "helped" me wasn’t helpful AT ALL !! She didn’t seem like she cared much. Or maybe she’s just not good at her job for this particular need. We rang the doorbell to be helped. She opened the door (while I’m holding the dog) and had us standing out there (thank goodness the weather was nice today), and said she’s waiting for her "supervisors reply" before letting us in. She finally let us in to sit down. Then told us to fill out something connected to a QR code. We did that, and then a message popped up saying they didn’t have room for the dog. Understandable. But how this was handled was VERY POOR ! There was no real effort to provide other resources. I tried asking for some water and food for the dog while we waited to figure out what to do next. Then the lady told my girlfriend they wanted to scan the dog and make sure he wasn’t stolen, BEFORE giving supplies. I wonder if we were WHITE if this whole situation would’ve gone differently. If it’s not about race then the woman just didn’t seem to care enough for a so called animal shelter !!! Either way .. I WILL NOT be recommending this place to anyone for anything!

Today my little meow had her first appointment to get vaccines at the vaccine clinic. I am so happy there is an option to get vaccines that do not cost hundreds and hundreds! With the buy one get one free deal, Rosie got her shots for $22 instead of the $300 from her vet! All of the staff is so nice, educated, and just you can tell that they love their jobs and all of the animals. We will be back next year for shots. I will be recommending to everyone!

I come to the humane society to give some love and to receive some in return. I visit the kittens and cats. Maybe I’ll adopt one some time soon. I had to let my cat of 17 yrs old go to the rainbow bridge in June. I adopted her from this humane society when she was 7 months old. She was the best! She was my heart. I have had decent experiences with the grooming , but this most recent visit wasn’t great. Took 4 1/2 hours . I have 2 small dogs , one was groomed the other is short haired and only needed a bath . When I picked up the short haired, groomer said she was ready to go, she was soaking wet. Luckily I had her blanket to dry her off with. My other dog looked good , no complaints, other than taking 4 1/2 hours . She may have over booked. She was grooming a different dog when I picked up my soaking wet dog , yet my other dog wasn’t done yet. They had appts right after each other.

I came in to find cat supplies, which I was able to spot easily and the store had what I needed. Although when walking to the checkout, I spotted the «beta fish» wall, which was full of plastic containers of black/brown water and a dead beta fish floating at the top of each container. I was stunned to see these containers completely untouched and no one even bothering to dispose of these poor creatures. Either don’t carry beta fish, or learn how to care of them properly so they get a chance to live rather than die at the pet store.

Cortney Ewing

I have been a rewards customer with PetSmart for at least 3-4 years. I took my dog there to get her nails trimmed today because it said online and on the store window that they open at 8am. This is also a service they say you don’t need an appointment for on their site. We got there at 8am. The doors weren’t unlocked. I watched workers walk around inside the store who clearly saw my dog and I waiting. Still nothing. When I peeked inside, I saw that the lights were off in the grooming salon. They weren’t even open. After 10 minutes, we left. I understand the actual store opens at 10a today, but the site and store window shouldn’t have the grooming salon opening at 8am and no one is there. I wasted time and gas because of inaccurate information, and my dog has to go another week with long nails. Sundays are the best day I can do these things due to my work schedule. I will be finding somewhere else to get my dog groomed.

GROOMING: Brought our dog in for grooming, she is a small retriever. Bath and Brush option ($40) this was supposed to include a nail trim, sanitary trim, and paw pad clean up. The nails were poorly cut, if at all. We also paid another $35 for nail grind, teeth brushing, and some special shampoo. Nail grind was certainly not done either. My dog was still wet at pick up and had a tiny mat behind her ear, that easily could’ve have been brushed out. After inspecting her in the store, I took her back in and spoke with the groomer, she was very sweet and apologized, and after pulling up everything online and showing her what was to be included she stated, «I’m still new and I didn’t know what was supposed to all be done»… I don’t entirely blame her, clearly a training issue here as well. But before anyone else gets cheated out of their money, I wanted to leave this review. I asked to speak to a manager just to inform him of what has occurred, this is the second time for us, with petsmart, I was offered a discount on my next groom, but told him not to worry because we will never be back.

I originally had no plan to write a public review — I only filled out the survey in-store and exited midway because it was long and I didn’t want to continue. However, I later received a phone call from the manager asking why I left the survey that way and what was wrong. Even if the intention was to improve service, the call felt like I needed to explain myself or justify my experience, which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. During my visit, the checkout didn’t feel very welcoming, and although I entered my phone number for rewards, it was not verified properly and my purchase never showed up in my account. I wasn’t trying to blame anyone or leave a complaint, but being contacted personally about a survey felt intrusive and made the situation more unpleasant than the visit itself. Feedback should stay within the survey platform — a direct phone call about it crosses a line for me. This is the reason I am leaving this review now.

The fish are NOT cared for here. Literally starving them to death. Note the inverted stomachs. All of their cichlids and Oscars are like this.

It was great. And I found a plastic lid for my cats food cans and the cashier was very friendly and curious. I highly recommend this pet store

The grouchy women here suck at customer service. They man handle my gf’s puppy. They are super rough and do not sweet talk. They talk like grumpy old men. Paris Hilton doesn’t take her puppy here because this place is the opposite of luxury. Dogs don’t even get personal bath robes. The place literally stinks, and there’s no aesthetic appeal. You guys have low standards. If you think this place is the best place to take your pet, you’re not a millionaire. My gf flies first class and does bikini contests in Las Vegas. She knows people with private jets, and she hangs out with celebrities.

The prices were so high, we could only get a jerky stick for $3 because everything else was so expensive. I stopped to look at the cool fish and animals but was left horrified with the awful conditions. Disgusting. Look at the pictures with caution.

This was my first biosphere to this store. We stopped in to get dog food and treats whole staying nearby for work. The store is clean and well stocked. The employees were very nice. I overheard a groomer talking kindly to a dog she was grooming. My cashier was a woman named Harriet. She was kind, had a lovely smile and did her job well. I would happily visit again when we’re in the area.

Most of my visits are simply to grab a bag of dog food but nevertheless you get the sense of a well run store and really good employees. My last two visits I needed a little more and all that became even more clear and appreciated. We used the dog bath station for the first time the other day and I’ll never do it any other way! A clean station. A shower caddie with clean towels. A bib to keep myself a little dryer and cleaner. All the supplies and equipment we needed to get the job done. And all included in a remarkably modest price. Thank you!

I am so pleased, thrilled and in love with this location and their staff! I reserved the community room for my dog’s birthday party. When I went back to take pictures of the setup, they explained what everything would look like. The room was cleared and clean and they made goodie bags for all the guests(including a cat lol)…and a special one for the birthday boy!!! The staff checked in to see if there was anything we needed often! This lace truly is a caring, neighborhood pet store and now that I know the «plus» has to mean the over the top service that you’ll get, plus smiles and plus the eagerness they have to serve! Thank you all so much! My little fellas birthday was a hit and that’s certainly thanks to you!

I can’t say enough good things about the team. My dog Cinnamon is very anxious, but this location has consistently made her feel safe and cared for. This was her third visit, and just like the last two, she came out looking and smelling amazing! A special shoutout to Uly, who always goes above and beyond to make Cinnamon comfortable. It’s clear he genuinely cares, and it means the world to us. Thank you for treating her like your own! Highly recommend this location to any pet parent looking for compassionate, professional grooming

Staff was very helpful! There was a good selection of items. They were out of stock of the cat food I wanted an a nice employee helped suggest a safe and similar alternative for my cat! I also found my cats new favorite wet food here. They are very nice, clean, and there was a cute dog someone brought in! Best experience!

We are trying to shop local, even if it is a franchise or chain, and visited this store for the first time in YEARS as we typically buy directly from Chewy. The store had a great selection of products for all types of pets, quality products, competitive pricing, and the employee greeted us when we entered and asked us if we needed any help finding anything. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes, and our dog loved all the products we purchased for her!

I gratefuly ran across this picture of a beautiful and unique aquatic animal. I have searched the store and have seen some similar without the spots, but can not seem to locate any with the beautiful white spots. I have never seen such beautifully highlighted white speckles. I wonder if they show up as a defense mechanism or maybe distinctive to either just male or female. Beautiful fish or Pescala.

Store is overall clean. If you need help you have to find someone and ask or you won’t get any. Prices are higher then usual, I pay over $10 for a feeder rat. I usually pay about $4 But it’s close by so I don’t mind. I still give it 5 stars!

I drove all the way up here after calling them and making sure that they had what I wanted was in stock. I stood next to that aquarium for at least 10 minutes while three employees total walk back and forth past me. Granted yes they were helping one person but not one of them looked at me and said hey we will be with you in a minute or even acknowledge my existence. I will never stop here again until they get their head out of their…

I have bought two male parakeets one then the other after the first one died and not even a month later the second one has died. The female we got somewhere else is perfectly fine now it’s been three all from the same store. I’m definitely not getting anymore pets from them.

They have live hopper mice feeders. No feeder rats. Prices are high for hornworms. But, prices are low for heat rocks for reptiles. They have more variety in subtrates for reptiles.

Very nice place to get a plecostomus fish. A suckered fish for cleaning your fish tanks. The staff was so friendly and kind. He knew exactly what I was looking for. The tanks also looked very well keep. Got the fish I pointed out and was done in just a few minutes. It was nice visiting with him and talking about fish and tanks. A++

I’ve been in search of a pac man frog this week. Today I went to two different Bills stores. The first one was sold out so I went to this location. I went straight to the aquatic area in search. An employee asked if I needed help. I asked for pac man frogs. He gets out a pac man, pixie frog & tomato frog. The pac man frog was very dead and had been for awhile seeing how decayed it was. I then pointed out the other two are not what I was looking for but did ask if he knew about the tomato frog. He has zero knowledge & didn’t care to know about them. I find this concerning. Why are people taking care of these pets if they don’t know about them? I then proceeded to the front of the store to ask the girl when they’ll get more pac man frogs. She was bothered that I asked. She replied with, «whenever we sell out» I told her that she is sold out bc the last one was dead. She proceeded to flip thru her magazine & say «next week». It felt very dismissive & strange. I’m sad because I was very excited to shop here but after this experience, I’ll take my business elsewhere. Please don’t treat your customers like this.

I’ve been coming here for almost 20 years?Weekly stop. Only place I can get everything I need for any of my animals. Lots of people surrender their animals here and they do a great job finding new homes. I wish sales were more competitive so I could pump more into them instead of retail giants like Petsmart or Petco.

This is the most depressing pet store i’ve been. The dogs were so inactive and lifeless. Some dogs are literally sitting on their own feces and they have it on their faces too. The staffs are just not it! I feel bad for these babies. I wish they can be taken care of more.

Awesome experience. Bobby was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable with any questions I had. He even offered to order anything I may want that they didn’t carry. The fish selection was amazing. They had more birds than your local Petco/PetSmart as well as small animals and reptiles. They had puppies as well and a shop cat that was very social. Overall a wonderful experience.

I absolutely love coming to this location, the staff has always made me feel welcomed. I have spoken to Jay a handful of times and he has always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Most pet stores I have gone to do not have the information I am needing unlike this location.

This is probably the best Uncle Bill’s ive seen. It is extremely clean and while I was there I saw employees actively taking care of the hamster enclosures. The fish tanks all looked well kept. The staff that I had to interact with were kind as well and seemed to care about their job.

I came to this store for feeders because I didn’t feel life driving to Lafayette. I used to avoid a few of the Uncle Bills stores because of the quality and limited sizes of feeders, and because the locations aren’t very good (why do they not have a Plainfield location) I have quite a few snakes that need fed mostly weekly (some biweekly) and I was surprised to see that this store seems to be making some improvements. The employees are kind and remember you, even when it’s been a while since you’ve been in. They remember what types of animals you have, and even specific details about your pets. There are two specifically that I’m happy to see any time I’m there, one is a super sweet, knowledgeable, tall woman in the aquatics area and the other is Jay. I believe Jay is a manager. I’m not sure how long he’s been there, but since he has helped me, I feel good about what I’m leaving with. I bought another snake from him a couple weeks ago, and coming from a person that knows their stuff on snakes, I can confidently say Jay knows his stuff as well. I have noticed a lot of improvements in quality of care for the animals at THIS location over about the past year. I love how much this location makes me, and MY family feel like they care not only for their pets, but they care to make sure you feel welcomed as family. I will come more often. These types of people are hard to find, so I will continue to come to this location and watch them grow! Plus, somehow, they seem to have feeders better suited for the sizing I need, so that’s a plus!

Frequently asked questions about pet adoption centers in Indianapolis

What types of animals do Indianapolis adoption centers typically house?

Indianapolis adoption centers generally house a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, and occasionally small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs, and hamsters. The specific types of animals available can vary depending on the center’s mission and partnerships, but many focus on providing homes for senior pets, special needs animals, and animals rescued from shelters across the state. It’s worth checking the specific center’s website or contacting them directly to determine their current animal inventory.

How do adoption centers assess the health and temperament of animals?

Indianapolis adoption centers employ various methods to assess the health and temperament of their animals. This typically involves a thorough veterinary examination, including vaccinations, parasite prevention, and any necessary medical treatment. Behavioral assessments, such as observation of the animal’s interactions with staff and other animals, are also common. Many centers utilize standardized temperament evaluations to gain a better understanding of an animal’s personality and identify any potential behavioral challenges.

What is the adoption process like at an Indianapolis adoption center?

The adoption process at an Indianapolis adoption center usually begins with an application, which requires providing information about your lifestyle, living situation, and experience with pets. Following approval, you’ll typically meet with the animal and staff to discuss its needs and suitability for your home. There’s often a home visit conducted by a representative to ensure the environment is safe and appropriate. Finally, you’ll sign an adoption contract, finalizing the agreement.

Are adoption fees the same across all Indianapolis adoption centers?

No, adoption fees can vary significantly across Indianapolis adoption centers. Fees typically cover the costs associated with the animal’s care, including veterinary expenses, vaccinations, microchipping, and spaying or neutering. Some centers may have higher fees for certain animals, such as senior pets or animals with medical needs. It's important to inquire about the breakdown of the fees when considering adoption.

Do adoption centers provide support after adoption?

Many Indianapolis adoption centers offer ongoing support to adopters, though the level of support can differ. Some provide adoption counseling to help new owners adjust to pet ownership, while others offer access to a resource library with information on pet care, training, and behavior. Some centers also maintain alumni networks where adopters can connect with each other and share experiences.

What about adoption contracts? What do they include?

Adoption contracts serve as a legal agreement between the adoption center and the new owner. They typically outline the terms of the adoption, including responsibilities for the animal’s care, such as providing food, shelter, and veterinary attention. They usually also include provisions for the animal’s return to the center if the owner is unable to care for it and may detail liability clauses regarding the animal's behavior.

How do adoption centers handle animal behavior issues?

Indianapolis adoption centers prioritize matching animals with suitable homes based on their individual needs and temperaments. They work to address any identified behavioral issues through training programs, behavior modification plans, or by providing adopters with resources and support. They may also work with certified animal trainers to assist with challenging behaviors and ensure a successful transition for both the animal and the owner.

    Are adoption animals microchipped?

Yes, nearly all adoption animals at Indianapolis adoption centers are microchipped before they are placed in their new homes. This is a crucial step in ensuring the animal’s safe return if it ever gets lost. The microchip is registered with the adoption center’s database, and the adopter receives instructions on how to keep the registration information up-to-date. It provides a permanent form of identification for the animal.

What is the role of volunteers at Indianapolis adoption centers?

Volunteers play a vital role at Indianapolis adoption centers, contributing their time and skills to support the center’s mission. Their responsibilities can include animal care (feeding, cleaning, grooming), assisting with adoption events, providing administrative support, fundraising, and outreach activities to promote pet adoption. Volunteers often provide valuable companionship to the animals while they await their forever homes.

How can I find an Indianapolis adoption center near me?

There are several Indianapolis adoption centers, each with its own unique focus and animal population. You can easily find a center near you by searching online directories like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or visiting the Indianapolis Animal Care website (www.indyanimalcare.org). You can also search for adoption centers through local animal shelters and rescue organizations – many participate in adoption events and partner with adoption centers.
