It was a beautiful church service at the center. I really enjoyed TBC coming together to bring encouraging words to the residents. I had an amazing time. The residents enjoyed our being there. Everything was so beautifully decorated. I’m looking forward to another visit.

I initially had a slight problem getting my Dad into Westside Village. They went above and beyond to help me rectify the issue immediately. The Director even called me, twice, on a Saturday, to speak to me personally. The facility is the prettiest and cleanest I’ve ever seen and the staff is very friendly and professional. My father is in good hands!!!

This was an absolute horrid experience. The dr that practices there is a major jerk. He treated my Mom terribly. No one ever gave updates on how my Mom was doing. She was there for rehab and got very little. If I called, the phone would just ring. The dr from her hospital stay wanted to call in a prescription for my mom and couldn’t get through either. The phones just rang and rang. So I just showed up one day and the LPN I spoke to had a major chip on her shoulder and was really put out that I was there. Stay far, far away from this place. Also there’s a 5-star review on here from my Mom and she didn’t write it and told me she would NEVER have written anything close to that. So apparently someone else set up an account for her and submitted it for her… interesting. The user name isn’t even the one that would pop up on her gmail account. Go figure. I wonder how that 5-star review got on there. And don’t think I got her review mixed up with someone else with the same name. There’s no way. Her name is Hildreth Bagwell. Lol. Nice try Westside Village. Your service, bedside manner, and care in general deserves 0 Stars. 6-15-22: Interesting update: I don’t see the review from Hildreth Bagwell anymore. So since I called them out on the fake review, they must have taken it down.Makes one wonder how many other of these 5-star reviews are fake? When I originally posted this, they had an overall 2-star rating. Now they have lots of 5-star reviews. Have their services gotten that much better? Or did they hire someone to “clean-up” their ratings? It’s not worth sacrificing your loved ones to find out.
Another update: a lot of the posts on this page have this place mixed up with Westside Garden Plaza independent living and assisted living. They are located in the same building and Westside Garden Plaza is amazing. This place is the rehab facility and not related at all to Westside Garden Plaza other than sharing a building. Don’t be fooled.

I have a two fold experience of Magnolia Springs Southpointe. I work there and I believe in Magnolia so much, we are moving my grandmother in there as we speak. It truly is unlike any other place I’ve been. The level of care is unmatched, to find a group of caregivers that demonstrates genuine care about each individual resident is hard to come by, but not here, it’s shown in abundance. Everyone is known as family and newcomers always quick to find a place in the family as well.
When it came time for my grandmother to search for an assisted living facility, I was happy and relieved that she will be at Magnolia, with the highest level of caring people who truly care about her experience at her new home. Amanda and Jamie made sure she had everything ready for her upcoming move in date and were there for any questions we had along the way. They really do a great and thorough job at showing you everything Magnolia Springs has to offer!

Personally, as the last remaining relative of the resident and POA of the same, up to this point my experience with Magnolia Springs has been positive. However, over the last couple of months, too many changes have occurred, too many hands stirring the pots, and in my personal opinion not enough information spread to the family members or POA’s of the residents. “The” doctor for my mother has been changed multiple times in the last 2 months and no direct communication that I feel has occurred from Magnolia Springs personnel. Another group has been working with my mother that I gave no permission to to work with her and now receiving bills that Medicare doesn’t cover. Too much email and not enough reaching out. When I do contact directly I often get a shoulder shrug or a I’m not sure I’ll have somebody call you is the response. Change is good, but communication of that change seems to be lacking in this situation. I’m not sure if it’s Sinceri’s problem, or Magnolia Springs, or who else… Just too many changes and no one to answer the questions… Hopefully this is corrected soon.

I am dealing with an extremely stressful situation relocating a family member to Indiana. After talking and touring 6 Assisted Living locations I felt even worse with the level of professionalism until I met Cody Baker. He took the time to truly listen to our concerns and needs, making sure we felt supported and informed every step of the way. He was never pushy or rushed like a lot of the others and he made the process feel personal and manageable. His honest, caring approach helped us feel confident during this stressful time.

My 90 year old dad (who is deaf) was having problems walking and the hospital wanted to transfer him to a rehab facility to improve his strength and mobility. I looked up reviews for facilities in our area and we chose University Heights. How nice this place was! While I believe that no place is “perfect”, University Heights tried to do so much to help dad and that’s big. Nearly every person with whom dad worked had a smile, a positive attitude and a professional demeanor. Dad is pretty sharp, mentally, and was impressed with so many of the staff! Even with his severe hearing loss, the staff accommodated him by making sure they faced him, spoke slowly, loudly and clearly so that he could read their lips. While he didn’t hear every word, they made it much easier for him to know what was going on.
The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the smell. The rehab wing smelled….CLEAN! We’ve been in other facilites in the past that did not have a pleasant smell in the halls/rooms. The room was spacious and very clean. When we arrived, we had trouble with the TV remote (trying to get Closed Captioning on the TV for dad) and the building MANAGER came down and helped us within minutes. All fixed!
The food was quite good but my dad did have a good suggestion which I’ll list at the end of this review. 🙂
The staff was so helpful. Every question I asked was answered quickly and accurately. Dad did not enjoy the actual PT (It hurt – because PT/OT does sometimes hurt) but he LOVED his PT Therapist! She was such a kind woman and she put dad at ease immediately. He tried extra hard because of Elvia. She’s a keeper to be sure! The other OT/PT staff were great, too! In fact, dad did so well with PT/OT that he was released several days sooner than they/we expected!
Of course, we hope he never needs a rehab facility again but, if he does, he will be coming back to University Heights! Dad wanted me to mention the names of the staff members that he could remember. He wants to call out Elvia in PT because she was amazing! He also wants to recognize:
Stan in PT/OT
Miles in PT
LaTaya, one of his nurses
Ashley, his aide
Melanie, his QMA
Best – the meal manager who helped him when he lost his menu sheet and she personally went through the facility until she found it!
Destiny, his Aide
Wendy, a nurse
Katie, one of the managers (or director?) of the facility. She was GREAT!
Kayla Van Dyke, the patient advocate who came in often to check on dad and to ask him if things were going well. She’s a problem solver.
And so many other staff whose names we may not have caught along the way. THANK YOU ALL!
As mentioned above, Dad had one or two suggestions to make this place even better for the patients.
1. For patients who have meals delivered to their rooms, could the kitchen staff warm the plates before dishing the food out? When dished onto cold plates, the food doesn’t stay very hot by the time it gets to the room. If patients eat in the dining room, this is not an issue. The food was good. But dad sometimes wished it was a little warmer on days when it was delivered to his room.
2. Could the facility provide a flyer (tack it to the bulletin board in the room) listing the meal times and procedures? Dad never quite knew when meal times were and he didn’t know if he should just go down there or if he should wait for someone. Of course, it’s possible someone mentioned it to him but his hearing is so bad, he may not have caught it. Thus, a written flyer would be especially helpful.

Even with his suggestions, he still gives University Heights a 5/5 stars. A year ago, he had a bad experience with another facility a few miles away so he definitely knows what a rehab facility should NOT do. Univ. Heights was a breath of fresh air!
We want to thank everyone there for taking such good care of our very special dad. You all ROCK at your jobs!

Not happy with this facility. 1) Can NEVER get ahold of anyone or check on your loved one. 2) They didn’t shower my mother besides a “bird bath” 3) Place is disgusting with termites flying everywhere 4) my mother was stuck in bed for 3 days straight until we could get up there and get her changed and out of the room. She had to go here until her IV was done with and is being moved to a better facility and closer to home. Do not send your loved one here. Obviously in the front everything looks nice but in the rooms and parts of the building it’s disgusting. Nurses also have attitudes. I’ve worked in a senior community and would never treat my residents the way some of them did here! Their ED had an attitude with me once she seen this review (I have a video of the phone call) and after we spoke, my mom said all the staff treated her worse. Wouldn’t turn lights off for bed, wouldn’t refill her water, made her wait even longer for assistance. Place needs shut down immediately and staff needs to grow up and learn to be professional!

The staff are mostly good and hard working and very caring people. However they are mostly understaffed and in my opinion basic things are ignored and noone held responsible even though they are shown where they’re failing to do the job they’re being paid to perform! In my opinion they will have to be reprimanded for this and terminated after a number of times! Don’t let the few bad apples spoil the whole bushel of the ones going above and beyond the call of their own duty!

My mother was here for about a week or two and only got a shower the day she transferred. She cried to my sister and I multiple times about her treatment here. They never took her outside or got her out of her bed. My sister posted a bad review (obviously^) and they treated her even worse after they had told my sister that they saw her review. Termites were flying around EVERYWHERE the one time my mother was taken outside by us. My sister was given attitude on the phone and DID NOT update us on anything regarding her, regardless of us asking them to. Needless to say, definitely would not recommend.
Definitely better off taking a loved one almost anywhere else.

Marquette has an excellent multi decade reputation for a reason. From the gorgeous campus to the full continuum of care, excellent food options, robust calendar of activities, beautiful apartment choices, to a dedicated and tenured staff, it is all quite impressive. Despite all of the wonderful amenities what will really give you a lasting impression when you visit Marquette is the engaging and happy residents. Nothing can compare to residents stopping you in the hallway or one of the many common areas to tell you how much they love living there.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
As someone who has worked in the senior care field for over 20 years, I truly value communities that provide genuine, compassionate, and consistent care not just a pretty setting. During my recent visit to Marquette Manor, I was incredibly impressed. The campus near St. Vincent is beautiful, but what stood out even more was the exceptional staff.

The longevity of the team says everything. In an industry where turnover is often high, it was refreshing to see so many familiar faces who have clearly built lasting relationships with the residents. That kind of consistency and dedication can’t be overstated.

From independent living to assisted living and skilled nursing, it’s clear that Marquette Manor is committed to excellence. Everyone I met was warm, professional, and truly invested in providing the highest level of care. I left feeling confident and genuinely moved by the heart behind this community.

If you’re looking for a place where residents are respected, cared for, and truly known, Marquette Manor should absolutely be on your list.

Only gave it a star so that I can leave this comment. My mother has been in this facility since February 2025 and as of now still there. The care there is atrocious. There are mice and ants in her room. The house keeping might come once a week if that. The care she received on weekdays in great, Ashley is awesome. There’s also a tall gentlemen works 2nd shift that is good too. But the weekend staff totally stinks, she has trouble getting them to help her out of bed, getting dressed. And they deliver lunch without silverware. SHE WAS FORCED TO EAT WITH HER FINGERS LIKE AN ANIMAL. They stand around talking and laughing while the alarms ring by the way I have witnessed this. Their excuse is being short handed I call BS. She has day in a dirty pull up so long she has shoes on her behind. And trying to get her put off the is harder than pulling teeth.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. My brother was there for rehab only. While he was there no one responded to his help light and he fell knocked himself out and broke his arm. He was supposed to get a cast on the second week, but they took it upon themselves to cancel his ortho appointment and never bothered to let us know. He only got 1 shower in the 3 1/2 weeks he was there. They hardly ever checked on him. He now has 2 bad bed sores that they never looked at or addressed. They had plenty of people there but all the ever seemed to do is walk the halls.
The only positive thing I can say about this place is that it didnt stink. They place isn’t very clean and where they have coffee and water ants are crawling on the cabinet and the wall. Never ever would I recommend this place to anyone.

I would never put my loved one in this facility it is dirty and has a foul smell throughout the building. Majority of the staff is on drugs they allow staff to come in drunk and upper management turns there head they have mice all over the building and do nothing about it disgusting if you as me. Residents are talked about in a very disrespectful manner mocked and made fun of instead of helping them. They service hall way consistently smells of marijuana. The staff acts like they are at a social gathering instead of work where peoples lives are in there hands. And don’t be a family member with an issue about you family’s care because you will be made the problem.I’m just saying that is not an environment I would want my loved one to be in!

Not a place you want your loved one, but what other choices do you have when most facilities are short help!
Many times that I have walked in and the facility is not clean, dirty cloths on the floor, food etc… no telling what you’re going to walk into. Yes there are some good things, as when you leave a review it’s normally not good. But more bad than good to say the least.
My mother who resides there has been hospitalized due to some negligence, not going into full detail as it’s not necessary to the public.
I do appreciate some of the ones that have cared for her like one of their own.

My mom returned to the facility the day before Thanksgiving. She was in the hospital for 4 infections that was brought on by a fever when she had asked to go to the hospital and they told her “No” whatever happened to patients rights?

To those who have read and following my above review on this place with my mom being in hospital do to the negligence of this facility and not following care plans of my mom is now deceased. Our hearts hurt and yes we would have moved her, but after this being her 5th Cardon facility we kept her where she called “her room” her home. She liked her roommate and her view. My siblings and I do hold this facility accountable for not taking care of not only my mom but other residents as well. Keep them close and watch their care as much you can! Have care plans in place to make sure that your loved ones are cared for properly. But as you can see this isn’t happening. We “her children” were up on a daily basis, the one time we weren’t my mom was asked to go the hospital, after getting sick and didn’t feel well, and her answer was “NO” whatever happened to patients rights? Or the care they need? I hear alot of the patients talked to or yelled at as if they are not human. They are elderly, they have feelings and they need cared for! I understand they aren’t your loved ones to care for but you’re in a profession to do so, if you don’t like what you do or care about the patients as one of your own then get out!
My mom has made several close friends as well as us and trust me I want to visit with them and make sure they are well, but I don’t want to step another foot in this place because of how we weren’t even approached of how my mom was doing during her hospital stay so this statement here concludes it all! Negligence! I’m saddened and deeply devastated that my siblings and I have to lay my mom to rest!

Wonderful staff for my mother’s care. Always had good activities & food & easy to make friends with fellow residents. Special thanks to Mida B., Linda, Shelby & Othelia for all of their care. Receptionists Carolyn & Loretta were fantastic in providing guidance & help whenever needed. Chef was very good, especially with soup recipes.

I am near end of second week here in the Rehab section due to complications fro a blood infection post oral cancer surgery.
I have to share this is my third rehab facility – long story-
I have had encounters with numerous nurses, LPNs, Techs and aids.
I have been blessed by having not just professional care but extraordinary caring and
an effervescent personality. I appreciate her attention to details and when she sees me / a warm smile asking if I am okay.
The LPN I am referring to is Curvy – not sure of her last name — Hanna?
You have a superior employee!
She is a Gem!

5 Stars – Exceptional Care and Compassion

I can’t say enough positive things about Majestic Care of Southport. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and kindness. The staff truly goes above and beyond to ensure residents feel comfortable, valued, and well-cared for.

The facility itself is clean, organized, and has a peaceful atmosphere that feels like home. The nursing staff is attentive, professional, and always willing to answer questions, giving families peace of mind. They provide excellent medical care while still treating residents with dignity and respect.

What really stood out to me was the compassion shown by the entire team. Whether it was assisting with daily needs, encouraging social activities, or just offering a kind smile, they consistently showed genuine care.

If you’re looking for a facility that combines skilled care with heartfelt compassion, Majestic Care of Southport is a wonderful choice. I’m incredibly grateful for the care they provide and highly recommend them to anyone seeking quality long-term or short-term care for their loved one.

I’m writing this review as I come to see my brother whose been a resident here for a year now. I am looking for a new place with a dementia unit or I would’ve pulled him out of here by now . I come here during the week and this place is a ghost town!! No management is here at 4:30 pm during the week or at all on weekends. I overheard staff saying the director in this facility give bonuses to employees who write a 5 star review on their behalf. A facility should receive a review based on TRUE MERIT. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! They should be helping improve the nursing home with more employees and better food than paying staff to write reviews. Sure the staff is going to give their job 5 stars..

Majestic Care of Southport exemplifies excellence in patient care through its highly professional and compassionate team.
The staff is dedicated to providing individualized treatment with the utmost respect and dignity, ensuring each resident receives attentive, expert care. Their commitment to clear communication, clinical expertise, and personalized support fosters an environment of trust, healing, and comfort for both residents and their families

I was able to be a part of an Outing with Manager Broc Bennett, taking two of the residence to a pacer game. Broc took time out of his own evening to take these two guys out, and the two guys had the time of their lives.

I would highly recommend Majestic Care of Southport for anybody who is looking for this kind of kindness and professionalism.

I am currently a resident at Majestic and I would not suggest this facility to anyone.. I’ve had issues with the lack of staffing and consistently being short staffed especially on the second shift which causing there to be extremely long periods that you have to wait for staff to answer your light.. sometimes over an hour long waiting periods. The food has been such a continuous problem that I have to purchase almost all of my own meals from outside of the building because not even the staff would want to eat most of the food we are served!! I don’t even have a working bathroom in my room! None of the rooms do! They have removed the knobs to even try to use the tub or shower, and still my bathroom leaks at times.. I even had to purchase my own bedside toilet because the facility would not, but it cost the residents on average about $9000 per month to stay here, and I can’t use my own bathroom and I have to buy my own food! And the worst part is that management has let me know that it’s all about the money here.. I was harassed several times to get me to switch rooms because they could change someone else more for my “private room” since it is close to a nursing station.. but since I refused, they started telling me that I have to move, and also they threatened to raise the cost for my room and that I would have to pay out of pocket.. and they also said that when I leave, I would have to find my own way home and they would no longer help assist me with setting up transportation when I get released…. All in all, I would not suggest anyone to come here, and if you have family here then I suggest you check on them.. because the problem is not the everyday staff, the problem is the broken system and management that they have to deal with.. and the fact that they are extremely underpaid!!!

I’m praying my sister will survive this place hoping I can get her moved elsewhere asap. We find residents laying on the floor nobody notices them until you have to keep telling workers please help them. And the soiled diapers issue seems to be a common problem many residents and I don’t appreciate that someone keeps pulling my sisters hair so tightly in pony tail she’s now having hair loss on one side and her feet have been dragging painful in ♿ wheel chair she’s in so much pain already had feet issues making it worse, I feel she’s not seeing a doctor enough or at all . And declining since being at Bethany she’s had at least 2 falling incidents since being there. Please pray for my sister I’m not happy about what I feel is neglected and dirty conditions there. Residents deserve better care. I’m trying to get issues resolved but it’s been difficult and mostly I don’t feel they taking seriously the special needs of patients especially those with memories problems. Should not take advantage of a sick person even if they can’t speak up for themselves.there are a few kind nursing workers but over worked to busy stressed out to get to patients needs in a timely fashion.

My husband has been here almost a year. While we have had some downs, the issues were addressed immediately and continue to be addressed to overcome some nite and weekend issues. The current social workers here and managers are always available to listen to any problems that arise or if a patients family just needs reassurance that you can come to them for anything. If I had to say anything bad, it would be nite and weekend care and know it is a top concern being taken care of. I truly believe that with management here that residents here are very important.

This has to be the worst nursing home ever. My sister lived here 13 years, died 2 weeks ago, and we have not heard so much as a peep from them. For over a year my sister complained of pain and they told her it was her imagination. Finally on January 10 my sister called 911 herself and she finally got a diagnosis of Colon cancer. It was too late. They let her sit in urine, stool, beat up wheelchair. If you love your relative, don’t send them to Bethany Village!

Awful place. Do NOT send your family here. My dad was transfered here after a very serious surgery and bethany village refused to give him his pain medicine that he was prescribed every 4 hours. They left him alone in a tiny room without a working nurses button for the entire night. No one checked on him. Not one. He was signed out ama the next morning once my aunt went to see him and saw the conditioned he was in and he went back to the hospital where he was transfered from. Don’t ever send anyone here.

This place has been deleting bad reviews everywhere. Every single review I’ve left has been deleted, and they also make their employees, who hate their jobs might I add, leave good reviews praising the place. My mom was in Bethany Village for about two weeks and she left mentally scarred. The “care” they provide is digustingly bad. Even getting her a bed pan to use the bathroom got her scoffed at, and they were across the room. My old review was far more detailed, but since this will probably get deleted, I don’t want to put too much effort in.. just like this prison called Bethany Village.

Arlington Place health campus is a place that I would not recommend to a dog for care. My uncle came to this facility on June 8 for temporary care while my aunt was out of town. He arrived approximately 11 AM. We came to the facility approximately five 5:30 PM the same day to see him. He was drenched, soaking wet covered in urine in his gastric tube leaking had completely soiled the bed. His call light was placed and clipped to the end of his bed by his feet. My uncle was in stage four cancer and was deteriorating rapidly. He barely had the strength to raise his hands or even hold a styrofoam cup. We notified a caregiver who was not his caregiver who assisted with a nurse who was not his nurse in cleaning him up and sending him out to the hospital as there was a slit in his G-tube. The hospital sent him back the next day at approximately 5 PM. I arrived at the facility between 730 and 7:40 PM. I walked into my uncles room who was completely naked, not covered up at all deceased in his bed. It took five minutes to get a nurse to come to his room who walked at a very slow pace After being advised that he was no longer breathing. The nurse walked in his room, stopped at the end of his bed and replied, “he’s dead” then proceeded to the top of his bed by his head to check his pulse and heartbeat she walked out the room at a very slow pace, the same as she walked in, and as she walked by me, she asked what was his code status to which my response was, I’m not his doctor. He may be DNR and that may have changed. She proceeded to slowly walk to the nurses station and as she sat at her computer, she turned in her seat and yelled out to me as I was walking towards her what’s his name again? She then looked up his cold status and walked away in the same slow manner to get another nurse who still was not his nurse to be a second verifier that my uncle. This nurse much more pleasant looked at me and advised me that he was deceased and she apologize For my loss. At this .20 minutes has gone by no one has covered my uncle up nor returned to his room. Mind you neither the nurses nor aides were aware of the whereabouts of his actual nurse. I covered my uncle up & attempted to close his eyes & mouth which neither would close & his skin had already started being cool at touch. After 25 min goes by his nurse walks in, stats she was gone on her lunch break and that he had on a brief and gown before she had left 30 minutes ago and she had feed him 3 bites of food(mind you my Uncle will only eat or attempt to eat seamoss he can’t hold anything down) also there wasn’t a gown nor brief in the room. The staff were extremely rude except 1 rn & night orderly. They argued with us about how he was found & that he had removed his own clothing and brief yet the items weren’t in his room AT ALL!!!!! It wasn’t until 2 hours later he was cleaned up. His hospice nurse was called at 8:47pm and advised he had only been back from the hospital 5 min & passed away (she was supposed to be notified immediately upon his return). The mortuary was advised that he passed away at 8pm which is totally not true. Do not be fooled by the looks of this facility b/c although it looks nice outside, their is evil, unprofessional staff working inside. Rest assured they lie to cover their own tails!

This place is a poor representation of Rehab/ Assistant Living and should be shut down!
This is the worst healthcare place I have ever seen in my entire life. I am extremely disgusted with the staff and the unprofessional attitude they exhibit towards their helpless patients. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is often delivered to the rooms (those who can not get down to the dining room) wrapped in saran wrap and delivered cold . The female staff are incredibly rude and nasty and most are not skilled to work in a healthcare facility and shouldn’t be aloud to with with other humans. The foyer and dining area all “looks” nice, but that’s were it end. The patient rooms are hardly cleaned the tend to stay nasty.
Brandi the NP is a liar and can not be trusted, she seems authentic, but don’t let her smile and tone fool you.
Dialysis team is a joke!
The Therapy team lack skills and is a bigger JOKE!
Arlington Place Health Campus, SHUT IT DOWN!

Sincerely,
Buyers Regret

Allison Pointe Healthcare Center is terrible, and a lot of that comes down to the director. The way this place is run shows a complete lack of care or concern for the people who live there. The director doesn’t take responsibility for problems, ignores families, and acts like complaints don’t matter.

When leadership doesn’t care, it trickles down — and that’s exactly what’s happening here. Staff are unorganized and patients are the ones who suffer. Families deserve answers and compassion, not excuses or silence.

This place needs serious changes starting from the top. Until the director is replaced with someone who actually cares about the patients and families, I wouldn’t recommend Allison Pointe to anyone.

They actually get 0 stars. No one ever at the desk, gotta wait. My mom came to this facility with a trach. A few hours after she arrived her trach was nasty, running down her. They didn’t clean it. Blood on gown and sheets. I had to make them change these things. In less than 72 hours she was rushed back to the hospital twice. Second time being in ICU. She will not be returning. If you love your family please do not send them here. I honestly don’t know how this place is open at all. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. But they’ll write how sorry they are and how we can talk about it. I’m sorry that’s all a lie. Not one doctor on call over the weekend, just online. Like are you freaking serious

I would not recommend Allison Point Healthcare Center to anyone. My experience here was absolutely terrible from start to finish. The staff were unprofessional, dismissive, and seemed completely uninterested in patient care. Instead of feeling cared for, I felt ignored and rushed, as if I were just an inconvenience.

The facility itself was poorly managed, disorganized, and far from welcoming. Communication was lacking, and every step of the process felt like pulling teeth just to get basic information or support. What’s worse, the level of care provided did not come close to what a healthcare center should offer—compassion, respect, and proper treatment.

If you are looking for quality healthcare, I highly suggest looking elsewhere. Patients deserve kindness, professionalism, and reliable medical care, none of which I found here.

I was there for about 3 months and it was the worst place ever the food is not edible. The staff the nurses plays on their phones or sit and be loud with the nurses when there’s lights on and they do not come and take care of them. The nurse is not give you your medicine on time to ask for it and then they tell you that it’s up to them when they want to and you have to wait you never get ice water like you supposed to every hour you have to ask and then you’re waiting for 2 or 3 hours after that. The food you can be eating in the dining room and when you get your food it’s ice cold they do not give you food that you need for a special diet that a doctor gives you. The bottom line is if you want to go to a nursing care facility please don’t send them here to Alison pointe if I could I would give this raising a negative 10.

The problem starts at the top in this place. Problem after problem, the lack of integrity this ED has and those supporting her, I wonder if it’s a company problem or just a her problem.  I would bring any of my family here again. My late husband died in May 2023. According to the reviews it seems like it got worse since. They stealed things constantly. Once when my husband didn’t get something the receptionist said she took it to the nurses station. I called the station to ask them to give it to him. The cold hearted woman said in a matter of fact tone. “It’s not here. She didn’t care that it was missing. I reported it missing but got no reimbursement. I even tried to file a police report. The officer I talked to didn’t want to get involved. I once got chewed out by two workers at the same time for sounded scared when my husband wasn’t in his room. They went on and on and chewed me out at the same time for quite a while. One worker even asked what happened. The nursing station seldom wanted to help when my husband’s cell phone wasn’t set right. I had to go to the social worker. For a few weeks they forgot to give my husband his meals on occasion. I told one worker, “I just got here, he said. I told another. She walked away. I went to the supervisor. Finally someone took care of it. My husband got his meals regularly again. When they were doing the Covid vaccines, they never made sure my husband did the required paperwork, so he didn’t get his. So they took him out of the home to get it done elsewhere, but nobody bothered to put it in his records. I found out when he was encouraged to get one. I said he got his. She didn’t believe me because it wasn’t in the records. Luckily someone remembered he got his. And at my request, they put it in his records and he received a Covid vaccine card. Despite the vaccine, he got Covid twice. But guess what? Nobody bothered to notify me either time. The first time it happened I told the director, and shortly afterwards overheard a woman say she got reprimended for not notifying family of a positive Covid test.I signed up for automatic payment for my bill. I got a call saying my bill is late. I returned the call. I told her it was set up for automatic payment so it should have gone through. She said it wasn’t set up for like that. I told her I was asked if I want automatic payment and I said yes. She just didn’t bother to look close enough to see that automatic payment was set up. Because I was treated like that I never attempted to use automatic payment again. The activities director for a while set up the visits because of Covid. But she refused to return my calls so I didn’t get to visit. So I went to the director. He must have talked to her because I got to visit again. I didn’t want my husband to go here. I had concerns because of the bad reviews though at that time they weren’t as bad as right now. I was told in 2017 they just switched staff and the reviews will get better. NOT. They got worse. Mdwise my husband’s insurance through the healthy Indiana plan only covered this nursing home and one that treats only dementia so I didn’t have a choice. I felt like I was sending my husband into the fire. And I did. Home health care was not an option. The edit is this: I forgot to say I filled out the paperwork for my husband to go somewhere else because insurance wasn’t an issue anymore. Unfortunately this place wasn’t letting him in. I was told he was at the top of the waiting list. Three years went by and he died without making it in.

Catalog of services offered by nursing homes in Indianapolis

    Resident rights advocacy and documentation

Civil attorneys in Indianapolis can assist with resident rights advocacy, helping families understand entitlements related to safety, privacy, and informed consent. They review care planning documents, assist with access to medical records, and ensure that facilities adhere to policies that protect residents. Through detailed documentation and clear communication, they support timely responses, proper operating procedures, and records preservation important for any future review.

Abuse and neglect investigations and reporting in Indiana

When concerns arise about abuse or neglect in a facility, attorneys help initiate formal investigations, coordinate with state regulators, and document accounts from residents, staff, and witnesses. They may interface with state agencies such as the Indiana Department of Health and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman, gather evidence, and seek interim protective actions to safeguard residents.

Personal injury and medical malpractice claims related to nursing home care

In situations involving personal injury claims or medical malpractice arising from nursing home care, civil lawyers evaluate liability for injuries such as falls, pressure ulcers, medication errors, or dehydration. They pursue wrongful death actions when appropriate, manage expert testimony, and navigate applicable statutes of limitations to pursue compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and other damages.

Admission agreements, residency contracts, and consent forms

Facilities use admission agreements and residency contracts that govern care terms and payment. Attorneys review these documents for clarity, fairness, and enforceability, highlighting potentially unfair arbitration clauses, disclosure of fees, and the scope of services to ensure residents and families understand their rights before signing.

Medicare, Medicaid planning and coverage disputes

Legal guidance around benefits planning and eligibility can be crucial. Attorneys assist with navigating Medicare and Medicaid coverage, addressing denials or delays, resolving billing disputes, and planning to protect assets through appropriate strategies, including understanding Medicaid qualification and spend-down rules when long-term care is involved.

    Guardianship, conservatorship, and decision-making support

When a resident may lack capacity to make informed decisions, attorneys help families pursue guardianship or conservatorship proceedings. They advise on capacity assessments, explore alternatives such as powers of attorney, and outline surrogate decision-making arrangements that protect the resident’s interests while respecting their autonomy.

Regulatory compliance, licensing actions, and ombudsman interactions

Facilities must meet state and federal standards. Attorneys assist with regulatory compliance, respond to deficiency notices, defend against unfavorable licensing actions, and prepare appeals. They also help families understand regulatory processes and work with ombudsman programs to advocate for resident welfare within the regulatory framework.

Dispute resolution, mediation, and litigation strategies

When conflicts arise with nursing homes, civil lawyers pursue alternative dispute resolution avenues such as mediation or arbitration, or, if necessary, prepare for litigation. They focus on practical resolutions, negotiation of settlements, and rigorous trial preparation to safeguard residents’ interests and secure fair outcomes.

Nursing homes provide around-the-clock supervision and comprehensive medical care in a supervised setting, often with access to skilled rehabilitation services. They differ from assisted living or home health care in the level of medical oversight and 24/7 staffing. A Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is typically appropriate for residents who need intensive care, complex medication administration, or short-term rehabilitation after an illness or surgery.

How do I choose a nursing home in Indianapolis?

To choose a good facility, start with licensure and state inspections to ensure basic compliance. Check CMS star ratings, read resident reviews, and plan multiple facility tours to observe staff interactions and cleanliness. Look for a personalized care plan, adequate staffing levels, and a facility that supports resident rights and family involvement.

What are typical costs and payment options?

Costs for Indianap olis nursing homes vary by level of care, room type, and services provided. Payment options commonly include private pay, Medicare coverage for short-term rehabilitation after a hospital stay, and Medicaid coverage for long-term care for eligible individuals. Some plans or facilities accept long-term care insurance and may offer monthly cost estimates during the initial assessment.

What rights do residents have in Indianapolis nursing homes?

Residents have the right to privacy, dignity, and to participate in their own care planning. They may voice concerns without retaliation, receive clear information in an understandable form, and have access to medical records as allowed by law. A resident also has the right to file a grievance and to have a functional ombudsman address complaints.

How is quality of care monitored in Indiana nursing homes?

Quality is monitored through both state surveys by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and federal inspections conducted by CMS. Facilities receive deficiency citations for violations, and public quality data helps families compare options. Ongoing oversight includes regular reporting and responses to complaints.

What is the role of an ombudsman for nursing home residents?

An ombudsman advocates for residents, helps resolve complaints, and ensures residents understand their rights and options. They can assist with care planning decisions, coordinate with facility staff, and provide unbiased guidance independent of the facility or family interests.

What should I look for during a facility tour in Indianapolis?

During a tour, observe cleanliness, safety features, and hygiene practices, along with how staff interact with residents. Review meals and nutrition, rehabilitation services, and availability of activities that support well-being. Ask about care plans, visitation policies, and ways families can stay involved.

How do memory care and specialized units work in Indianapolis facilities?

Memory care units provide dementia care with trained staff, secure environments, and structured routines designed to reduce confusion. Look for person-centered care, staff trained in Alzheimer’s and related conditions, and programs that promote safety and independence where possible.

What about end-of-life care and advance directives in nursing homes?

Facilities support end-of-life care through palliative and hospice services, with emphasis on comfort and dignity. Families should discuss advance directives, including DNR orders and the designation of a power of attorney for healthcare decisions. Clear care goals and regular care-plan reviews help ensure resident wishes are respected.

What steps should I take if I suspect neglect or abuse?

If neglect or abuse is suspected, document signs such as dehydration, sudden weight loss, injuries, or poor hygiene. Report concerns to the ISDH or local authorities, and contact a resident ombudsman for guidance. Keep a record of dates, witnesses, and communications to support any formal investigation.
