Great low cost option. Despite seeming quite busy, they were very attentive. Drop off and pick up went smoothly and reasonably quickly. I was surprised how much of the ear was tipped, so be sure you know what that will look like before you choose it. Definitely obvious for anyone who spots and outdoor or community cat though! Will use them again.

set up an appointment to get our kitten neutered & microchipped. super impressed with how organized their facility is with being so high volume. parking is a little difficult but i expected that knowing how many spays/neuters they do. waited about 20 minutes in our car & then got a call to come inside. a member of their staff explained the process every step of the way. we got a call when he was out of surgery letting us know he did well & if we wanted to pick him up early. super happy with the care they provided! will recommend! (picture of our kitten stan just because 😁)

Tell it like it is

Love this place. They really care about your animals. They explain everything well. There’s even a free dog/ cat food table. Prices are very low and reasonable. Most of the help is very nice. It is crowded and loud. Cats and dogs everywhere. Just watch the floor because animals are nervous and have accidents.

Didn't understand the miscommunication in getting a yearly or 3 yr rabies shot , they asked if I wanted 3 year, I stated yes, thank you, lady who brought out my cats stated miscommunication Hercules got only 1 year rabies, what was the miscommunication, also didn't understand why others were going before me, when appointments are scheduled, didn't know kittens had to have brief exam. I understood why I had to wait after I asked. Last visit to face when mooshoo was given medication and I asked someone if they could help me give it to him, a guy stated no,they couldn't help, but time before a lady was so kind to help me, 2nd visit not so pleasant, I ask if no one can help me can the vet, he stated no, they are busy. Crying and very sad no one would help, just stood there looking at me. Ever since when ella one of my cats got fixed there, the service is not as good as it used to be.

Awesome! Place to go once you get there. Everyone is helpful. Friendly, larger and lots of seating. Everything moves fairly quickly. I was surprised. Takes a while to check out but and they got to make sure everything's right.

FACE is fantastic!! For as busy as they are, they are efficient and the staff is very friendly! I've had 3 stray kittens end up in our garage in the past 2 years and have brought all of them to FACE for spay/neutering and micorchip. The cost of services can't be beat! I also made a donation to FACE to "pay it forwrd" for others. BRAVO, FACE!!👏💙❤️😊🫶

FACE was highly recommended to me for reasonably priced services for my kittens by abdriend. She participates in CNR and takes them to FACE for their care. I did notice that the rowdier the dog, the sooner they will be treated/attended to. I did not like that they take my kittens one-by-one to the back and I cannot be with them when they received their vaccinations. Prices are very reasonable! Spay/neuter cats is $135. Most feline vaccines are $20-25 each. They also have assitances for those who are financially short to care for their pets. Overall, I would recommend them.

Kirstie Smith

This place is great. Wish I could give more then 5 stars. I take all 3 of my girls here. My oldest is sick and they take such good care of her. She is in all the time because of it and the staff is awesome and so caring. She is so good because they are perfect with her. While my youngest is the devil. Dog hates the vet but they try so hard with her. Very patient and understanding. I will always keep going here.

She is doing better the results came back good news. We will return I have been using this vets office for over 15 years Dr. Canada has seen many of my animals over the years and the staff is always so great.

Our regular vet couldn't get us in so they suggested here. We made an appointment on a Monday for that Wednesday. They were absolutely wonderful with my baby girl. Got her all fixed up and bragged on how good she was. I would definitely recommend this place. Everyone was super sweet and you could tell they cared. I am truly grateful.

Not sure where to start except they were exceptional and amazing from start to finish. Cara and Megan were wonderful and as well as Dr fitzwater and Pagan. They saved my sweet old boy w a bowel obstruction who had eaten all kinds of crazy stuff and have checked on him numerous times. Also have given me a good detailed plan moving forward to prevent this! Grateful 🙏🏼 we already take all of our pets there but I highly recommend 1000%

Came to Brookville after being recommended here by my HVAC repair man! I am very happy with my experience here for my cat compared to another animal hospital in Indy. All the staff were very kind, knowledgeable, and able to answer questions, or willing to find out answers to my questions if they didn’t know right off the bat. They were also able to schedule him for dental cleaning/extraction 1 day after his annual wellness checkup, very communicative the day of surgery, and most importantly, costs were reasonable. Today is POD#1, and Elbert is doing very well. Will continue bringing him here and highly recommend BRAH to anyone who is new to the area and wants a good, reliable vet like they had back home.

I take both my dogs here and they are wonderful. I have 2 pitbull mixes one has severe allergys and the other is a sweetheart UNTIL she goes to the vet and then she turns into Hannibal Lecter. She's always been this way with any vet so it's nothing about them specifically. They do such an amazing job with her! I trust them with both my girls and I'm not very trusting where my girls are concerned. We are blessed to have such caring and knowledgeable veterinarians. The entire staff here is great. Always helpful, kind, pleasant, and attentive. I highly recommend them.

Dr. Stevick is the kindest, most caring vet and person!! She takes time to listen to all concerns, and is so sweet and supportive. Ralphie the cat loved her and she figured out why he was limping and thoroughly explained it to me and showed me on the x-rays. It means so much to me that she had so much patience and kindness during the entire visit. She's a wonderful human, and I could not be more grateful for her! The rest of the staff was so sweet as well, checking on me and Ralphie multiple times! If you want top tier quality for your pet, this is the place to be!!!

My dog Hachi goes to this clinic, Dr. Barr is an outstanding veterinarian. She takes the time to listen and thoroughly explain treatment options, she and her team are really good communicators. The office staff is also efficient, friendly, and helpful with scheduling and questions. I found a husky yesterday in the neighborhood, with no collar/tags, and took him to this clinic to scan for microchip, not only they scanned for it but also went through the trouble to make few calls to find out who the current owner was, saved me lot of time.

Our 12-year-old lab, Levi, was under the weather, and our regular vet could not see him for a week. I reached out to the BRAC, and they were able to work him into the same-day schedule. Dr. Barr and her vet tech were kind, compassionate, and helpful. Levi is on the mend, and we look forward to revisiting the clinic soon for a recheck. I highly recommend this clinic!

My cat, Theo, went to this vet and was put down a couple months ago. I just went to pick up his ashes and received so many heart warming additions. They gave me a paw print impression of his and I received a hand written note from the Doctor. This place is so amazing and kind.

I took my pet Molly to Michigan St Vet Clinic, and from the moment we walked in, we were treated with kindness and compassion. The front desk staff was so sweet and helpful, and we were taken back quickly. After being told by another vet—after a $1,033 visit—that nothing could be done for my 12-year-old dog’s grade 4 heart murmur, I was devastated. Dr. Sam was an absolute angel. She was gentle with Molly, truly listened, explained everything clearly, and gave me hope. Molly was diagnosed with mitral valve disease and was prescribed the heart medication she needed without overcharging. I’m incredibly grateful to the entire staff at Michigan St Vet Clinic for taking such great care of my baby. ❤️🐾

I have visited here a few times for different reasons and pets. I've had a great experience every time. The prices are reasonable and I feel like they really care about the animals which is most important to me. I think the check in process is as close to seamless as it can be for a walk in only veterinary clinic and they keep their website current so you always know when they're open. I Highly recommend them.

What in the world does someone have to do to get an answer on the phone. Its sad that I've called no less than 12 times back to back and unable to get an answer. You all refuse to listen to the pet parent and now my dog is ill and has to suffer for more days because you all will not answer the phone or listen when we ask for testing. I really wanna like this clinic. The pricing is good and yall are nice people. But you guys are making it hard. Friendly staff doesn't make up for the suffering of my babies. I am willing to bet that there isnt going to be any help offered or any discounts offered for my other dog that is now ill because you guys refused to listen to the pet parent expressing concern and asking for testing. On 12/23/25 I was recommended to go to this clinic because my dog Mr. Peanut Rocket was extremely sick! I waited in tht parking lot from 630am until the doors opened at 9am. I was worried and upset running off no sleep because My dog kept vomiting and not eating for like 2-3 days so when we finally got in, the staff was extremely nice and welcoming. We were taken back in under 30 mins. They did an X-ray and labs. I was concerned about the bill because I was already low in funds because it was the holidays so they came back with the price and diagnosis and worked with me on my bill because I couldn’t afford it. After we worked that out, I was given medicine to take home and he was also given an IV because he was dehydrated. He was fine after 48 hrs just like they said!!!! I just want to say thank you guys so much for saving him. I don’t know what I would have done without you guys. My schnauzer is my 3rd child. You are truly God sent. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU 😊 🙏🏾😘

The vet techs and office people were really good but the woman dr ruined my whole experience. I've came here multiple times for multiple different situations with my animals and have been bringing my elderly dog here for his stress induced seizures. The doctor that came in our room today as rude, judge-mental and totally unprofessional. Comments that were totally unnecessary uncalled for and totally irrelevant. I brought my dad's dog here for yearly shots with a couple of concerns aswell. The doctor also had no idea what medication THEY prescribed my dog and proceeded to get an attitude with me when I couldn't remember the names of them. Last time I checked I wasn't the vet. This is the most unprofessional experience I have ever had here and I'm not sure we'll come back again.

We saw Dr. Davidson today for a visit to get our pup established and her booster shots. Her and the vet tech was phenomenal. They even let my son listen to our pups heartbeat over her stethoscope! We love City Way fountain square!! We saw Kellyn and Dr. Davidson today who were both awesome. The team is always knowledgeable, helpful, and thoughtful, and the place is super clean. They provide accurate cost estimates before starting services, and it’s easy and convenient to get meds there. The appointments are timed well so we never have to wait too long, and the exam is thorough but not too overstimulating for Cosmo. They give her lots of lickable treats and work with her comfort level without manhandling her too much. I’m lucky to have a cat who doesn’t get super freaked out at the vet, but Kellyn gave her some time to get comfortable and both she and the doctor gave her soooo much love 🙂

We had a great experience. The vet was both knowledgeable and very considerate, especially when discussing my senior dog’s aging behaviors and medication options. They took the time to explain what was normal with aging, what to monitor, and how the meds could help. I never felt rushed or dismissed, which means a lot when you’re worried about changes in an older dog. I left feeling informed and reassured. I would definitely recommend them to anyone navigating senior pet care.

I couldn’t recommend the Shelby Street Animal Clinic ENOUGH!! My wife and I have taken all three of our girls there, both for sick visits and for general wellness. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and cared for. The front desk team is warm and helpful, the office itself is spotless, and you can tell everyone genuinely loves the animals they work with daily. Dr. Rivera is an absolute GEM of a vet. She’s knowledgable, patient, and incredibly compassionate. She took time each visit to get to know us, never rushed, and treated my girls like they were her own. It’s such a relief knowing that they are in such skilled and loving hands when they visit. Her smile is infectious and her confidence puts our anxious cat parent brains to rest. We couldn’t be more thankful for the quality of care she’s provided us, and for treating us like family! My cats are usually intensely dramatic about vet visits and hide for hours after coming home, but they laid right next to each other and relaxed in the sun after our visit yesterday. That says everything about how gentle and stress-free this place is. If you’re looking for a veterinary office that combines professionalism, kindness, and passion, this is your place!

I am so happy with the service we received for Meatball. We have definitely found our favorite veterinarian! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the environment was very clean and organized. Dr. Rivera was great, friendly and very knowledgeable. Took the time to listen and share valuable information regarding Meatball. Dr. Rivera also informed me of ways to maintain my doggo’s health without trying to sell me anything unnecessary resulting in a higher bill. We will definitely stick with Shelby Street Animal Clinic for all of our pets checkups!! You can definitely tell when someone is passionate in their field and genuinely cares about the wellbeing of animals not just the money as I’ve experienced at other places. We recently had two appointments at this clinic—one for our dog and one for our cat—and both visits went extremely well. We were new to the clinic, but they were able to get us in for our first appointment in less than a week, which we really appreciated. Every staff member we interacted with was easy to work with and showed excellent customer service skills. Dr. Rivera and the staff were wonderful with both of our pets and with us. They listened carefully to our concerns, answered our questions, and offered helpful advice. Overall, the entire experience was smooth, friendly, and professional. We’re very glad we chose this clinic and look forward to continuing our pets’ care here.

My boy got really sick on 03/02/26. When he started bloody diarrhea I brought him here.. Everyone was pleasant. I trust the care he received. The only issue I had was the wait. Yes I understand they take patients in order of situation. My dog was dehydrated and couldn’t keep anything down. We spent 7 hours here. I think they should have more doctors/ staff. They also were not very good about updating me or giving any timelines. I’m not sure I will go here in the future if he has another attack. I appreciate the care but my little dog needed care too in a timely manner.

.We met with Dr. James to discuss concerns about possible anal cancer in our dog, Baxter. Dr. James was very informative and clearly explained all possible outcomes, which was exactly what I needed. After the exam, Dr. James explained that there were no signs of cancer, but biopsy samples were taken for further analysis. We were told we would receive the results within 7–10 days. I’m very grateful to have Indy Vet and their wonderful staff available to reach out to when needed.

Arrived at 11:30 pm – my cat had 2 seizure-like episodes prior to arrival. We were placed in a room right away and seen in order of urgency. A staff member would come in periodically to check on us. Dr was very good at listening to my concerns and what I remembered happened. They examined Mimzy, I found inner ear infection was probably cause. Put her on antibiotics and steroids with follow-up instructions. We were discharged at around 5am. 2 days later, Mimzy is showing signs of improvement. I am pleased with the efficiency and caring attitude of staff. They put me at ease right away. I was given a partial refund of my deposit, for actual services rendered. I got a follow-up email as well. I would definitely recommend them for any urgent care.

IndyVet did an amazing job with emergency surgery for our 13 year old doggo, Tucker. He came in with a mucocele in his gallbladder, and Dr Kloft went over literally everything with us, including talking to us in person for over an hour going over potential outcomes (good and bad) and let my wife and I make the best possible decision. He was in surgery for what felt like forever, but when we got the call from Dr Kloft that everything went well, it was a relief! At his 10 day check at his regular vet back in Fort Wayne, the surgery site is healing amazingly, and he is back to his old goofball self. The 4 week recovery is much harder on us with telling Tucker "no, you can't do that" than I think it is on him. We are now 2 weeks in and you wouldn't know he had pretty significant surgery by the way he acts now. The entire staff here is wonderful. Front desk staff on check in were very friendly, the nurses and techs who checked in on him while waiting for admission were great, Dr Fisher who did his admission was very friendly as well. If you have an emergency and your pet needs surgery, definitely come here.

I will be honest, in the current climate I have been skeptical of IndyVet (or any emergency vets) because of a few institutions' tendencies to be a little predatory. However, I truly had a phenomenal experience with the neuro department at IndyVet. My 5 year old corgi Ruthie "went down" with IVDD during a giant snowstorm and I wasn't able to get her from Bloomington to Indianapolis until several days after she became paralyzed in her back end. We worked with Dr. Tadros and her neuro team and it was honestly an even better experience than I could say I've had with my personal doctors. Dr. Tadros was kind, clear, realistic, and exceptionally caring. Her nurses were so patient and gentle and explained Ruthie's treatment and long-term care needs to me in explicit detail. Dr. Tadros called me herself multiple times to give updates on Ruthie's condition and while I was heartbroken and terrified, I felt very much supported through the whole experience. I cannot recommend Dr. Tadros, Nurse Kelsey, and Nurse Melissa enough if your fur baby is suffering from IVDD or any sort of spinal issue. —— IndyVet – this part is for you – I had a not-great interaction upon arrival with the lady with a brownish-gray bob and glasses at the front desk who made a really bad-taste joke about how my "credit card was going to be getting a workout" as I was checking in my paralyzed dog for emergency spinal surgery. I was honestly speechless to which she essentially responded with "she knows, that's why she doesn't have anything to say!" I found it to be a very jarring way to start my journey at IndyVet and would hope no one else has to deal with that. However, outside of my interactions with her, I had a really really great experience in the face of a really awful situation. I am very grateful, truly.

we love city way animal clinics on mass ave!!!! staff is ALWAYS so friendly and kind. always helpful and answers all of our questions. they were so sweet when our sweet cat passed away and have been the best and helping us navigate our new kitten. Dr. Patrick is super thorough and covers all of the bases. Brittany walked through all of the financials in a way that made sense for our family! could not imagine going anywhere else to receive care for our little love bugs!

Office was able to fit us in a last minute appointment due to issue. The Mass Ave location was very friendly, accommodating & professional. Dr. Alex Bednar was new to us, but we loved him! Dr. Alex was very patient, informative & communicative about my pet’s issue. He also took his time & did not seem rushed at all. Given the anxiety my pet & I had coming into the office, your staff did everything possible to make us comfortable. Thank you!! 🖤 Alf & his Mom

I have been taking both of my cats here for a couple of years now. Always have had a great experience! I appreciate them being very straight forward with pricing and communication. My male cat is especially spicy when it comes to the vet and when I’m not able to be with him in the room. But recently when I took him in for a vaccine, Heidi, a vet tech, was very reassuring that they would take great care of him and have method down for him. Turns out he did great! Thank you to the staff over there for taking care of my babies!

A litter of 7-week-old strays I’ve been caring for recently came down with parvo. I brought them to City Way Mass Ave today, and I can honestly say it was the best vet experience I’ve ever had, on what was also one of the hardest days I’ve ever had as a pet parent. 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁. The staff was kind and incredibly patient with the chaos of an entire litter. They took the time to walk me through how to handle the at-home care and made it clear they genuinely cared about my animals. I wish I could remember everyone’s names to thank them properly, but I was so stressed out by our situation I can’t remember them 😩. To the three women and the vet who helped us today, you were amazing, and I appreciate you more than I can say. I truly can’t recommend this place enough.

I cannot say enough positive things about the team at City Way Mass Ave. I am a first time cat owner, and they have provided the most thorough and compassionate care to my Moonpie. Moonpie has been going through a scary medical situation right now, and it has been a very emotional and difficult time for us both. The team at City Way, especially Dr. Squires, Dr. Graber, and Julia, have been so incredibly kind and caring to both Moonpie and I as we navigate this uncertain and frightening time. You can tell how much they truly care about the pets they care for and the people who own them. I have truly found a forever vet office here for as long as I am in Indianapolis. I also want to thank their phone response team, who has always been so responsive and thorough to texts I have sent regarding Moonpie’s care. They have been so supportive in sharing the updates I give them about Moonpie’s current hospitalization at VCA and in making sure I am doing okay too. Right now, all I can hope for is that Moonpie and I have many more visits to City Way and her favorite vets and techs ahead of us. She’s had to visit another City Way location and the VCA, and I can say for certain that City Way Mass Ave is her FAVORITE based on how much better she behaves there.

The service here was quick and sufficient and everyone was so nice! They were able to get me in as soon as I got to the office even with being early. I spoke with Dr Patrick and Brittany and they gave me a lot of helpful information regarding my animal! They were very kind and loving towards my animal! I would definitely recommend coming here.

The entire staff took great care of my pup. We went on an urgent visit. They explained everything in great detail and called with test results and spent time explaining the results. I hope I don’t need urgent services again, but if I do the Mass Ave office will be my first call.

My husband and I are so grateful for Noah's. Our 11-month-old golden retriever puppy is alive and well because of them. While we initially received compassionate care at VCA, we were referred here last Saturday when they weren’t set up for emergency surgery. The VCA hospital vet strongly recommended Noah’s—and it was immediately clear why. Noah’s was able to see our dog, Clover, right away and get her the care she needed. The vet, Dr. Giem, was incredibly empathetic, knowledgeable, and informative. Despite being in extreme pain and a lethargic state, Clover eased into Dr. Giem during her exam. She even called Clover by her nickname without knowing it—a small moment that meant everything to us. Although we went home in deep sorrow, we knew our girl was in safe hands throughout the night. Noah’s communicated clearly about cost, provided updates throughout our time there, and we were even refunded part of our initial deposit. During and after surgery, every timely phone call or conversation with staff was followed by a personal compliment about our sweet girl. The front desk staff, though very busy, was always attentive and helpful. Robert, the vet assistant, was also incredibly compassionate and informative when providing post-op care instructions. We are beyond grateful to have our girl back and know that Noah’s will be the first place we go from now on.

My husband and I are not from around the area but work over the road as truckers. My senior dachshund had a horrible cough that turned out to be pneumonia. They were so professional here and took excellent care of my old girl on short notice. I loved that there was 100% transparency in cost and recommended diagnostics exams. The staff even gave us snacks while we waited patiently for exam results. When I had a recheck appointment for my dog at a different clinic, I called in advance and they quickly and efficiently sent all of her pertinent exam results to the vet that needed them. Thank you to the wonderful staff here!

Our dog unfortunately got into raisins and we had to get him to an ER vet so he didnt digest any of them and go into kidney failure. ALL of the staff at Noah's Animal Hospital were amazing. They explained everything in detail and didn't mind that our guy was noisy and anxious. 😅 We just picked him up and cannot express our gratitude for the care and timeliness the staff extended to us and our boy.

Robert and the whole team literally saved my boy, Loki’s life. Robert truly is a God Send and always does the most for my own dogs and Lucci’s House Bully Rescue dogs. I firmly believe Loki would have died if it weren’t for his fast actions and the team at this Noah’s. I cannot say enough about how amazing he is!

We were blessed to have Dr. Giem and her caring staff tonight when our beloved Boston Terrier went into complete cardiac failure and his lungs were filling up with fluid fast. He was 9 and in congestive heart failure. It was advancing fast and he was under the care of a cardiologist in Carmel. Dr. Giem was very compassionate and honest in that he probably wouldn’t survive the night. I’m devastated in losing my baby but grateful for their kind and thoughtful care. The thought of him suffering was too much to bear and we had to do the right thing and put him to sleep. Thank you Dr. Giem and staff for your kindness, I will forever be grateful and recommend your establishment. I lost my spouse 1 1/2 years ago and our little guys name was Pim (Dutch for "Bill"). It’s been a rough couple of years.

Incredible experience. I brought my dog on New Year’s Eve, and every step of the visit was positive. Dr. Giem is an exceptional vet, and Amy, Emily (I think), and the entire care team were kind and very good at their jobs. The care provided was thoughtful and thorough, and the aftercare instructions were customized and easy to follow. I also want to thank Dr. Giem for spending additional time educating me on a possible diagnosis to explain the constant skin issues our dog has experienced for years. We are grateful for this new avenue (and possible new treatments).

My wife and I unfortunately had to put our dog diesel to sleep. It was a Saturday afternoon. Nobody in my town had a vet and I was recommended to try this place.Putting your animal down is very hard, the crew at Noah’s did a really good job with the entire process. The entire crew showed sympathy and support for us at a really difficult time. I appreciate everything that your crew did to help us with diesel .Thank you Noah’s

Absolutely incredible experience and care. After our St. Bernard Chester was neutered locally earlier in the day, he went into shock later that evening and collapsed. We had to rush him over an hour away to this emergency vet, terrified we were going to lose him. From the moment we walked in, the team was outstanding. They took Chester immediately, got us into a room right away, and began stabilizing him without delay. The doctor and assistants were calm, thorough, and incredibly compassionate. Everything was explained in detail, all of our questions were answered, and we never once felt rushed or dismissed. They ran bloodwork to rule out internal bleeding, closely monitored his blood pressure and heart, started IV fluids, managed his pain, and kept him under observation until he was stable. Even small things — like offering us coffee — meant so much during such a stressful night. Thanks to their fast response and excellent care, Chester is still with us. We will be forever grateful to this doctor and their amazing team. I cannot recommend this emergency vet enough and will absolutely return for anything our animals ever need. Thank you for saving our dog.

We would like to say how very appreciative we are of the care and attention that was given to our sweet boy Henley during a recent visit to the Airport Animal Emergi-Center. From the receptionist to the surgeon we were treated with such kindness and empathy during a very stressful and scary situation. We would like to especially thank the surgeon, Dr. Saviori for performing a very critical surgery that literally saved our dog’s life. Henley continues to heal day by day. Thank you again to everyone! Kind regards, Kate, Craig & Henley Gilbert

More affordable than other places. And gave me an extra month with dog when she was towards the end of her life, they tried what they could the 2nd time but in the end it was just my babies time and they didn’t rush me. They gave me as long as I needed with her, they also gave me a trimmer to keep a lock of her hair. And 20minites after I left I remembered I never gave to dna sample I wanted to know exactly what mix of mutt my girl was and they went back to her and swabbed her mouth for me the best they could and I was able to get that dna test. I also got her ashes and paw print back within the week. They were so gentle and kind during one of the hardest times of my life. I am writing this a yr later. Bc I was too emotional then.

We woke up to the heartbreaking discovery that our beautiful girl, Blanche, had unexpectedly passed away over night. I called AAEC for cremation service and Sabrina was extremely nice, empathetic, and explained their services. When it was time to pick up her remains, there was a mix up on her last name but they discovered the mistake immediately and asked me to come back the next day so they could fix the issue with the place that cremated her. I have never taken my pets here for an emergency. This review is solely based on this experience. One thing I have an issue with is when they took her vet information, they said they would contact them to stop notification reminders for Blanchie, however, I received this email from the a couple days later (see photo). They just need to update their email settings.

The quality of care and patience and compassion that every single member of their staff treated me and my cat with exceeded all expectation. The veterinarians themselves were fully present and careful and thorough. I felt completely comfortable trusting their judgement and relieved to have their support. The other staff and vet assistants were equally first-rate – both in the multiple middle-of-the-night pre-visit phone calls and in person. They never once showed even the slightest amount of irritation or impatience at my questions and occasional indecision, despite the fast-paced/high-pressure nature of their work environment. There is a level of genuine kindness and expertise at this clinic that is rare and wonderful. They made a really scary situation as good as it could possibly be. I think if James Herriot himself lived in Indianapolis, he would likely work at the Airport Animal Emergi-Center.

We recently had to take our family dog of 10 1/2 years here to put him to rest. My husband and I have had him our entire marriage and it was so difficult for us. The vet tech that put him to sleep was amazing, she was so gentle and sweet to him. Told him how cute he was. The entire staff was very accommodating and we received a card in the mail about 2 weeks later with the staff’s signatures inside and warm words from a lot of them. I just want to thank you all for helping us through this and making it as peaceful for him as it possibly could have been, he was an amazing pup.

Our beagle/terrier mix Callie was seizing very bad for an extended period of time. Since we live in a rural area, we had to rush to find an emergency vet to see her. We drove almost two hours to Airport Emergi Vet. When I called beforehand, they told me to let them know when we were close so they could be ready. We carried her in straight onto a gurney and away they went. Given the stress and worry we were feeling for our furbaby along with lack of sleep, we were not the best comprehending what was currently happening. The staff were very compassionate and understanding. They took the time to explain everything in detail and went above and beyond for us. I won't lie, it is pricey. With that said, the care and attention Callie received was well worth the cost. Thank you to all of the staff that cared for Callie that night. Words can't express how grateful we are.

Frequently asked questions about veterinarians in Indianapolis

What qualifications should I look for in a veterinarian?

When selecting a veterinarian in Indianapolis, it’s crucial to ensure they possess the appropriate qualifications. Look for a veterinarian who is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or Veterinarian licensed by the Indiana Veterinary Board. Beyond licensure, consider their specialization – some veterinarians focus on small animals, while others specialize in exotic animals, large animals, or emergency medicine. Verification of their credentials is always recommended to ensure they meet established standards of care.

How do I choose between a general practice vet and a specialist?

Indianapolis offers both general practice veterinarians and specialists. A general practice vet can handle routine care such as vaccinations, check-ups, and minor illnesses. However, if your pet has a complex condition or requires specialized treatment, a veterinary specialist – such as a cardiologist, dermatologist, or neurologist – is essential. The diagnostic process and the complexity of the treatment will often dictate whether a specialist is needed.

What should I expect during a routine check-up?

A routine check-up with a veterinarian in Indianapolis typically includes a physical examination, which involves assessing your pet's overall health, listening to their heart and lungs, palpating their abdomen, and examining their skin and coat. The vet will also typically perform a dental examination and discuss any potential health concerns or preventative care measures, such as parasite control and nutritional advice. They’ll also update the vaccination records.

How often should my pet receive vaccinations?

The frequency of vaccinations depends on several factors, including your pet’s age, lifestyle, and the risks they face. Puppies and kittens require a series of vaccinations, while adult pets typically receive annual boosters for core vaccines like rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. Some vaccines, such as those for bordetella (kennel cough) and leptospirosis, may be recommended based on your pet’s exposure to other animals.

What if my pet is sick? What should I do?

If you suspect your pet is ill, it’s important to seek veterinary care promptly. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis. The vet will conduct a thorough examination, perform any necessary diagnostic tests (such as blood work, X-rays, or fecal exams), and develop a treatment plan. Don't hesitate to contact your veterinarian even if you're not sure what's wrong; they can offer guidance and recommendations.

What are common pet illnesses that veterinarians treat?

Veterinarians in Indianapolis treat a wide range of illnesses affecting pets, including upper respiratory infections, skin allergies, gastrointestinal problems, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, and cancer. They also handle more acute conditions like injuries, poisonings, and distress caused by infections or other ailments. Preventative care plays a huge role in managing common illnesses.

How much do veterinary services typically cost?

The cost of veterinary services can vary considerably depending on the type of service, your pet’s species, and the complexity of the case. Routine check-ups and vaccinations typically cost between $75 and $200. More extensive procedures, such as surgery, diagnostic tests, or hospitalization, can cost several hundred to several thousand dollars. Many veterinary clinics offer payment plans or accept pet insurance to help manage the costs.

What is pet insurance and should I consider it?

Pet insurance helps to offset the financial burden of veterinary care by covering a portion of the costs associated with illness or injury. There are various types of pet insurance plans, each with different coverage levels and deductibles. Some plans cover routine care, while others focus solely on emergency or surgical treatments. Weigh the premiums against the potential costs of treatment to determine if pet insurance is right for your pet.

How do I prepare for surgery on my pet?

Preparing your pet for surgery involves several steps. Your veterinarian will discuss the procedure, provide pre-operative instructions, and perform a pre-anesthetic bloodwork to assess your pet's overall health. They’ll also typically administer medications to reduce nausea and pain. Following the vet's instructions carefully will minimize risks and aid in a smoother recovery process.

What should I do after my pet comes home from the vet?

After your pet comes home from the veterinarian, closely monitor their behavior and recovery. Ensure they have a comfortable and quiet place to rest. Administer any prescribed medications as directed and follow the vet's post-operative care instructions. Contact your veterinarian immediately if you notice any signs of discomfort, infection, or worsening symptoms.
