I went in for my appointment, everyone was very friendly and caring. My left foot was in pain, after taking x-rays ,it was discovered I had Charcot Foot. My doctor explained everything in detail ,he told me and didn’t sugar coat it. The information hit me like a brick, but I appreciate what he told me. Awesome doctors and staff. Highly recommend them.

These medical professionals know how to treat patients! Each person I came in contact with in this office was friendly, personable and professional! Dr. Runkle was great, so kind and wanted to diagnose my issue before rushing into giving a shot or putting me into a boot.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had an appointment with Dr. Jeffrey Stevens on May 29, 2025, regarding pain in my left heel. Despite arriving on time, I waited for nearly 50 minutes in the waiting room. Once in the exam room, Dr. Stevens introduced himself and surprisingly asked about my nationality—which felt inappropriate and irrelevant to the visit.

After a very brief assessment, he diagnosed my condition as plantar fasciitis and presented four treatment options. Two involved purchasing shoe inserts (around $50) or more expensive shoes. The third was at-home physical therapy, and the fourth was receiving an injection. Initially, I assumed the inserts were custom-made, but they were not.

I opted to try the at-home exercises first, but Dr. Stevens was insistent on the inserts. When I declined and explained that I wanted to see how exercises worked first, he appeared visibly upset and abruptly left the room without further discussion. I was genuinely shocked by this behavior and lack of professionalism.

Based on this experience, I would not recommend this provider to others. If I could give zero stars, I would. I have been trying to decide what I was going to do, and after talking to several people I decided to write a review. I was scheduled to have surgery on 4-21-25 and as a result of the way I was talked to by the girl at the front desk, decided to cancel. On 4-14-25 I went to St Francis to have some pre-op blood work and an EKG done. I had that done and my husband asked if we needed to do anything else done and was told no. He ask what time my surgery was scheduled for on the 21st. and they said it had not been determined yet and we would be notified. On Thursday the 17th. I received a call from the hospital, stating that
I had an appt. at 1:00 P.M. on the 18th. to meet with an Internal Medicine doctor. I explained that I would not be able to do that, I already had an appt. with my cardiologist for that time. The appt. with my cardiologist had been scheduled in advance and was in no way related to my foot surgery. The cardiologist is at Community south and the foot surgery was at St. Francis. I tried to tell the person at the desk this and she asked if she could talk to my husband. She said she felt she could get him to understand better than me. I came back at her and told her that I understood perfectly and was not stupid. She kept telling me that the 2 appts were related and I just told her to forget the whole thing. I have never had a problem before with the office and did not appreciate the way I was treated. I like Dr. Runkel and was very pleased with the care I received. My husband was sitting next to me the whole time i was on the phone and heard the entire conversation. When I called the office after the hospital called, they told me to contact Dr. Runkel’s office and let them know that I would not be able to keep the appt. I don’t understand why I was notified that I had this appt., and not ask if I would be able to make the appt. on the 18th. I have never had to go through this many steps to get a procedure done. Most time the doctor doing the procedure calls the cardiologist and ask for his ok to preform the procedure. When I call a doctor’s office I expect to be treated with respect. As a result, I have decided to look else where for a new doctor. Also the new girl assisting Dr. Runkel was supposed to call me the day after my last visit and set up scheduling. I told her when I was there that I could not do it that day, as I needed to check my calendar. She never called and I still have never received a call. Please advise Dr. Runkel of these issues and let him know I appreciate his care.

Robert Krupnek

I visited Indy South Foot and Ankle for a procedure, but during my first appointment, they told me I’d need to return another day for the actual treatment. Nothing was done at that initial visit — no procedure, no real treatment — yet I was still charged $140. When I came back for the actual procedure as instructed, I was charged another $150. I essentially paid $290 for something that should have been handled in a single visit. It feels like poor communication and unnecessary billing. I expected more transparency and better patient care.

Dr. Carroll is amazing and very knowledgeable! My daughter had 2 foot surgeries with him and both were done with precise procedures so that the rest of her feet would not be bothered. Amrik Singh

After seeing four different doctors for my heel pain, I was starting to lose hope. Every other practitioner I saw just offered temporary fixes like injections or pain treatments without ever addressing the root of the problem. That all changed when I saw Dr. Leibovitz.

From my very first visit, it was clear that this doctor was different. He took the time to listen to my history and perform a thorough examination, going beyond a quick assessment to truly understand what was causing my issue. He didn’t just mask the pain; he found the problem and provided a comprehensive treatment plan that completely fixed my heel.

I am now completely pain-free and incredibly grateful. I highly recommend Dr. Leibovitz to anyone who wants a doctor who is dedicated to finding and fixing the real problem, not just treating the symptoms.

Spent over 2 hours at the ER to have a shard of glass removed from my foot, only to be told that I need to see a podiatrist. I was referred to Dr. Leibovitz by family and friends (not the hospital) was able to get in a few days later and had the glass removed in no time. Friendly and to the point, no fluff, in and out in 45 minutes. Great experience all around.

I recently visited Dr. Leibovitz after struggling with ingrown toenail pain off and on for several years. I was quite nervous about the visit and removal procedure, but my experience was nothing short of exceptional. Office had appointments available the same week I called!

From the moment I walked into the office, the friendly woman at the front desk me feel comfortable and at ease. The doctor was extremely nice and took the time to explain treatment options, which helped alleviate my anxiety. To my surprise, the removal procedure was not painful at all, and the doctor’s gentle yet effective approach made a significant difference.

The healing process was quick and easy, and I am now free from the discomfort that had plagued me for so long. I highly recommend Dr. Leibovitz to anyone in need of podiatric care. Their professionalism, kindness, and expertise are truly commendable.

Everyone at this office is so nice. What a team! They really try to work with you. If it weren’t for the parking fees, this would be the best place. However, the care is what matters. Dr. Coker is by far the best referral I have gotten from another doctor in Louisville who is a podiatrist. She is very knowledgeable and pleasant. They are very thorough and try to be accommodating at her office. It’s just that some people can’t afford parking and I wish they would get a contract with the parking garage that you could get free parking if on Medicare, Medicaid or SSI The price for those that can pay would offset the less fortunate. Just something I thought the office manager or someone might be able to help with getting implemented. Otherwise, it can take some time at their office but that is how everyone gets the proper care.

I could not be more pleased with Dr. Powers. I have had bad foot pain for almost 10 years and have had several procedures and surgeries. Dr. Powers found the solution and 6 weeks post surgery and most days I am at a 0 pain level from most days having a pain level of 8! I am so happy and highly recommend.

Dr. Powers has done something very incredible for my left foot, a foot that has been hurting me so bad for over 6 years. That foot has suffered from pain from Morton’s Neuromas for years. Every single step, every moment standing, sitting or lying down, every minute of every day for 6 years— just constant pain. Unrelenting pain. The front/ball of foot area felt broken, like all the toe bones were just broken. I could barely walk when I met him. I had 4 previous surgeries with various orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists, all just made the issue worse because the surgeries were not performed correctly and the nerves regenerated worse each time, to where they finally had grown around the bones and tendons of the forefoot. I was left in more pain after each one. I finally found my way to Dr. Powers in the early winter of 2025, after a very well known podiatrist in Indy admitted that my case seemed very complicated and he would refer me to a doctor who “all he did was nerve surgeries in the feet and legs” and I am so thankful he did. I met with Dr. Powers at his Indianapolis location. He was very kind, and listened to everything I was saying. He took notes the entire time. He examined me and could see and feel the pain I was in. He then went on to tell me what was causing this, showed me diagrams and pictures of other instances, and explained what he could do, surgically, to help me. It was a very thorough appointment going over all of my history. You can tell Dr. Powers is highly educated and likes to get to the point and stay on track. He is incredibly professional. His office then submitted the paperwork to my insurance company, and we waited for approval. I had my surgery in early February, 2025, at a lovely surgery center in Bloomington. That was an incredible experience, they made me feel like a VIP, I am not even joking. I, myself, am an OR nurse, so I was VERY impressed with the surgery center and the people working there who took care of me. Absolutely A++.
The recovery was brutal, I am not going to lie. It hurt more than I expected. But I followed his post-op instructions very carefully and did what I was told to do and as long as I stayed off the foot and kept it elevated and took the medicine it was manageable. But any time you have the top and bottom of your foot sliced open and nerves manipulated, I mean, there’s going to be some pain. Fast forward to today, I am 8 weeks post op, and I feel amazing! The scars look incredible, I can’t believe they have healed as well as they have, and I historically have not healed well from surgeries, especially being left with bad scars that are raised and red. Not these! It’s really incredible. But the best part is the pain, my foot no longer feels like it is broken every second of the day! Talk about relief! I am actually trying to re-train my brain that the pain is gone, I don’t have to protect my foot like I used to, I can really walk on it and do all things. It still hurts a little in the arch where he buried the nerve, and the top incision is just a little sensitive yet when I tie my shoe, but compared to before, it is a 125% improvement all the way around the board! I am very excited going forward. I am starting to think of all the things I can do again! This makes me very happy!

I am so thankful to Dr. Powers. What a gift he has, the gift of medical/anatomy knowledge and how body systems work, especially nerves in the lower extremities. I am so thankful he has dedicated his life and career to education in his field and understanding nerves so he can truly help people like me. I really don’t know where I would be if he hadn’t performed the surgery that took that awful pain away. I also appreciate his kindness and empathy. He never made me feel rushed or foolish or like I was making things up.

I hope going forward we can actually become friends, he means that much to me.

I have had restless leg syndrome for years and did not know it. I went to 8 different doctors. Finally I was sent to Dr Powers. He confirmed I have restless leg syndrome. He was doing a nerve procedure that was promising. He did my left leg first because it was worse and after a week I was feeling good. The leg tingling has stopped. The achy pain has stopped. The stiffness is gone. Three weeks later I am walking up steps with that leg again. Dr. Powers has changed my life! Looking forward to getting the right leg done soon. I highly recommend!

This team lead by Dr. Powers are miracle workers. I have seen several doctors who said I would just have to live in constant pain for the rest of my life. I went in hardly being able to walk and nearly bed ridden for months. It took one visit with Dr. Powers to know what was wrong and the following month I had surgery. After surgery I am no longer in pain and recovering well. Soon I will be able to return to living a normal life. I owe Dr. Powers and his team a big thank you for getting me my life back.

Dr. Helms put me in orthotics 26 years which cured my foot, knee and back pain. Well it was Fantastic to find out he was still practicing. This time it was a different situation with my foot with the same outcome! No pain and I’m back on my feet. Without a doubt a Fantastic Doctor and human. God Bless Dr. Helms.

I have been going to helms for 5-6 years now. First two times, great experience. Now, they’re horrible. Customer service is a joke and keep on ruining my insoles. I had a brand new one, the arch was so high I couldn’t put foot in my own shoe. I was told it would be worked on, it got sent back as the same that they sent it as… I waited 3 weeks for nothing.

I also had a pair repaired. I asked for the same material, same everything, just repaired and good to go. They changed the materials changed the arch. The material, the doctor said there is only two types of material. Then comes back in the room with 30-40 types of material. Basically said I don’t remember the material had for years wearing them and said I was wrong and then brings it into the room. I was annoyed. And now it doesn’t fit in my shoe and foot pops out in the back of the same shoe. The arch is now uncomfortable.

This has a been year long process with no refunds which is in the fine print. Planning to switch to another doctor and would not recommend Indy Podiatry to anyone after complete lack of understanding and professionalism.

Be honest. Do the right thing. I just wasted 500 dollars on nothing with repairs and new ones that aren’t going to fit. Save your money.

I have been going to Dr. Helms for almost 4 years. He takes the time to listen and is super friendly. I have plantar fasciitis and was in so much pain that I had stopped hiking and was feeling really defeated. He has made several orthotics for me and I am back to enjoying hiking again and my feet feel great! Update, I had a fracture in my foot and once again he did his magic and I am feeling great! I highly recommend Dr. Helms!!

Dr. Helm’s is a wonderful Dr! I had a terrible case of planters fasciitis that I could not get under control…my primary care had sent me to a terrible foot dr that got me further off course & left me wondering if I would EVER have relief!!! Finally!!! I read reviews & took this matter into my own hands. I researched & found Indy Podiatry. I am so glad I did! I had the shock wave treatment & it took a bit more than we thought but it was worth it! There were a few moments I thought, oh no! I don’t think this is going to work…but patience & consistency in wearing the orthotics…the treatments…all helped me! I was “that patient” that had to have all the bells & whistles….but I can say, IT WORKED! I am back to walking pain free!

Dr. Helms provided me with the highest level of care. He explained everything and was very professional. Flawless execution and detailed instructions for rehabilitation. Thank you Doc for getting me back on my feet again. I recommend Dr. Helms to anyone with Podiatry needs. All around A+++. Superb!!!

Six months since I posted my last review and all is still well. Dr. Helms did such a great job that I recently entrusted his skills with my teenager who required foot surgery. Again, Dr. Helms did a great job and my teenager is back on both feet now too. Thanks Dr. Helms.

Just when did Dr. Glynn leave the practice? I found it odd that when I left a voice mail message requesting to schedule a visit with Dr. Glynn that nobody in the office returned the call. After waiting several days, I decided I would just stop by the office and request an appointment in person. When I stopped by, I was shocked to see an almost empty waiting room and one of the two desk windows closed. There was someone in line ahead of me at the other window. We had both been waiting for a while when the other patient turned to me and said “There’s nobody there.” I remarked that I would skip the wait to leave. When I said that, there was another patient who was leaving the office who said, “I saw somebody just sitting there.” I chose not to risk creating a disturbance to request service, and instead struck up a friendly conversation with the other patient. That’s when they told me that they, too, had been a satisfied patient of Dr. Glynn and that Dr. Glynn was no longer with the practice. Maybe that’s why nobody bothered to return my phone call — because I had requested a visit with Dr. Glynn?
At minimum, they need to update their website to reflect the fact that Dr. Glynn is no longer in the Greenwood Office. And, they need to do a much better job of responding to patient requests.

The Noblesville office is terrible. Today I went for a follow-up; despite my better judgment after the first appointment. However it was a minor thing and I didn’t want to bother with finding someone else. After repeated texts to update my medical records, I completed them before I came in. The office receptionist wasn’t at the desk when I arrived – 7 min prior to appt – and when she came and noticed me, she asked my name and if I checked in – as if the clipboard isn’t right in front of her face and Standard Operating Procedure to sign in upon arrival at a doctor appointment. I said yes. Medical assistant took me back quickly and proceeded to go through entire questionnaire that I filled out online for them. Then asked what I was putting on the toe – I said the stuff I was given last time. She proceeds to ask if I knew the name of it, giving me a few options…I said, isn’t it in my file?? ‍♀️ After 35 min past my appointment time, I left without ever seeing the doctor. I will never return.

Wish I could leave zero stars. They don’t bother to tell you on the phone which door at the hospital to go into. Didn’t bother to even mention it was at a hospital. Scheduled a first time appointment for my son at 8 am and asked us to be there before the office even opens. Then as I’m calling and calling to get directions they’re not answering because the office isn’t open. Calling til 8:12 am. Finally found it, parked and made it in by 8:15 and they wouldn’t take my son for his appointment. The girl at the front desk was pretty rude about it as well.

Dr. Rodela treated my aging mother and her foot issue. His personality helped set my mom’s mind at ease and he was able to effectively diagnose, treat, and heal my mother’s foot issue. The staff there was very friendly and helpful every time we went to the office. I highly recommend Dr. Rodela and his people at the Foot and Ankle Institute in Plainfield.

My husband established a relationship here in August to get orthotics. He said the doctor was great. I handle all of the billing and insurance claims for our family. They were horrendous to deal with. First he started at the Noblesville location. They demanded a 50% deposit for the orthotics and then they had such a nasty attitude when he tried to explain the insurance that I had to call the practice manager and we moved to the Meridian St location. Finally he gets the orthotics- fitted and delivered in September. By this time we have paid for them in their entirety and were promised the insurance would be filed. It wasn’t. I had to fight for 4 months, first to get the claim filed and then for the refund after the insurance paid 100% (which, had they called upfront like we asked, they would have known the insurance was going to do all along.) The only thing this business has going for it is the doctor. The third party billing company is slow and seems confused as to what they’re doing and the facilitators at the practices are not much help. each seems to blame the other. This was such a frustrating and disappointing experience. All told they had nearly $500 of our money for 5 months and I had to relentlessly follow up to get it back. Can you imagine how they would behave if we didn’t pay them for five months? If you choose this practice, watch your billing and EOBs!

Frequently asked questions about podiatrists in Indianapolis

    What does a podiatrist do?

Podiatrists diagnose and treat conditions of the feet and ankles, including injuries, deformities, skin and nail disorders, and chronic disorders such as diabetes-related foot issues. They complete specialized medical and surgical training and hold the degree Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM). They may work in clinics, hospitals, or group practices, and focus on improving mobility, comfort, and overall quality of life for patients of all ages.

How do I find a podiatrist in Indianapolis?

To find a podiatrist in Indianapolis, start with referrals from your primary care doctor, family, or friends. Check that the doctor is board-certified and licensed to practice in Indiana. Look at hospital affiliations, read patient reviews, and review the clinician’s subspecialty areas such as pediatric care or diabetes management. Verify your insurance coverage and confirm appointment availability, including telemedicine options if offered.

What conditions are commonly treated by podiatrists in Indianapolis?

Podiatrists treat a wide range of conditions, including plantar fasciitis, bunions, Hammertoes, Achilles tendinopathy, ingrown toenails, and diabetic foot ulcers. They also manage sprains, fractures, nail disorders, and routine care such as skin and nail maintenance. For athletes and active individuals, they address overuse injuries and return-to-activity planning.

What should I expect during my first visit with a podiatrist?

During the first visit, you should anticipate a review of your medical history, current medications, and any prior imaging. The doctor will perform a thorough foot and ankle examination, assess gait, and check skin, nails, and circulation. Imaging such as X-ray or MRI may be ordered if needed, along with a clear treatment plan that may include conservative care, orthotics, or surgical options if indicated.

Are podiatrists in Indianapolis covered by insurance?

Many podiatrists accept private insurance, as well as Medicare or Medicaid, depending on the plan. It’s important to verify in advance what is covered, including visits, imaging, and procedures. You may have a co-pay, deductible, or coinsurance, and some clinics offer payment plans for uncovered services.

    Do podiatrists perform surgery?

Podiatrists perform both non-surgical and surgical treatments. Minor in-office procedures can include debridement, nail work, or injections. More extensive operations may involve bunion corrections, hammer toe repair, or ankle procedures such as arthroscopy. Preoperative assessments and postoperative care are part of the surgical process.

What are some home remedies for foot pain?

For mild foot discomfort, you can often find relief with rest, ice, and proper foot support such as suitable footwear or orthotics. Gentle stretching and avoiding activities that worsen pain may help. Over-the-counter pain relievers can be used as directed, but persistent or severe pain should be evaluated by a podiatrist to rule out serious conditions.

How can I prevent foot problems?

Prevention centers on proper footwear, routine foot hygiene, and daily foot inspections. Keep nails trimmed straight across, wear socks that wick moisture, and avoid walking barefoot in public spaces to reduce infection risk. If you have diabetes, adhere to a comprehensive foot care plan and have regular checkups with a podiatrist to prevent complications.

What should I bring to my podiatry appointment?

Bring your photo ID, insurance card, and a list of current medications. If you have recent imaging results or medical records, bring them as well. A written summary of symptoms, questions for the doctor, and any relevant footwear or activity notes can help the visit be more productive.

What is the difference between a podiatrist and an orthopedic surgeon?

A podiatrist is a DPM who specializes in the foot and ankle and completes podiatric training, with some surgeons performing extensive operations. An orthopedic surgeon is a physician with an MD/DO who focuses on the entire musculoskeletal system and may subspecialize in foot and ankle surgery. Both professionals can collaborate on complex cases, depending on the condition and patient needs, and the choice often depends on training, experience, and the specific procedure required.
