This Yoga Studio is a sanctuary for those seeking peace and wellness. The moment you step inside, the calming scents and soft music create a serene environment. The instructors are highly trained and genuinely passionate about yoga, offering classes for all levels. I attended a restorative yoga session that left me feeling rejuvenated and centered. The class was perfectly paced, with an emphasis on mindfulness and proper alignment. The studio is well-equipped, with plenty of mats and props available. I also appreciated the community aspect, with regular workshops and events that foster connection among members. Zen Flow Yoga is the ideal place to unwind, recharge, and deepen your practice.

I’ve been coming to The Hot Room since 2023, and it has truly changed my life. The heated yoga and pilates classes have made me stronger, more grounded, and improved my sleep. The community is also amazing and very welcoming! Adding in the sauna and cold plunge has been the ultimate recovery and leaves me feeling super refreshed and energized. If you’re looking for a place to truly transform your health and overall well-being, The Hot Room is the best place to go!

I took Julia’s class at The Hot Room today and it was absolutely amazing. I loved seeing her growth from taking classes alongside her as a member to now taking her class as an instructor. She is truly a natural. Julia is calmly spoken, professional, inspiring, and so motivating throughout the entire class. You can feel her passion and energy in the room. The only tiny note would be that sometimes it was a little hard to hear her, but that might’ve just been from all the sweating lol. She is a beautiful human being and such a bright light. Incredible class and such a joy to experience her teaching. I can’t wait to take another one of her classes!

Signed up for the two week unlimited membership when I moved to Indy a few weeks ago and haven’t regretted it one bit! Clean facilities, friendly staff and a place for all levels to feel comfortable. The recovery room offering with the Cold Plunge and infrared sauna is a great offering for those looking to let their body heal. The App is also well designed and easy to use as well!

Bailee…now I know why there’s always a waitlist for your instruction! That was intense, but so worth it. Love how she can personally instruct you, while keeping up the intensity for the rest of the class. Looking forward to the next one!!

I tried the 2 week unlimited classes and fell in love! There are a variety of different hot classes to take for every yoga style! (I really enjoyed the sculpt) I ended up buying 20 more classes! The staff is so sweet and the facility is well kept and modern!

Rachel Mirabella

I. Love. This. Studio!!!! I committed to The Hot Room a few months ago and am now 63 classes in. Every single one has been taught with love by knowledgeable people who clearly enjoy what they do. The front desk staff is friendly too, making it a point to learn patrons’ names, and it’s obvious they care about each other, their students, and the studio itself (I see them cleaning thoroughly between every class). It’s easy to quickly feel like part of a family, not just a member of a gym. Rachel stands out as a very dedicated and effervescent teacher, always incorporating new moves so it’s never the same class twice. Dillon is thoughtful and reliable. Grace’s playlists are always 🔥🔥🔥. Hayley is endlessly cheerful. Being welcomed by Nancy always lifts my spirits. 10/10. Keep up the great work over there, y’all!

What started as simply leaving the house post-pandemic to see humans again in 2020 has evolved to absolute passion for this place! Not just body transformation, mental clarity and inspiration for all that life brings outside the studio! Love sweatin it out with my friends, family + Hot Room Community! I’ve visited numerous heated fitness studios in Texas, Florida, Chicago, Louisiana — there truly is no place like home at The Hot Room 🤩 Highly recommend – don’t know where I’d be without their support while caring for and losing my dad to lung cancer. All the more reason to enjoy every breath – each is a gift Thank you for your love and uplifting light, Hot Room!! 🙏🙌😊

I tried Original Hot Yoga for the first time at The Hot Room in 2017. After that first class, I signed up for the two-week intro package, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Eight years later, I’m trained to teach OHY and Pilates and loving every minute. The Hot Room is so much more than a fitness studio! Their facilities are top-notch — the hottest rooms I’ve experienced — but the instructors and community are what make it most special. You’re made to feel just as welcome as a first-time guest as the member who’s done 1000’s of classes. It’s a truly amazing place. Try any of the variety of classes they offer, from yoga to Vinyasa or Yin, and you’ll leave feeling refreshed and energized. Like me, you’ll be glad you did! {these photos are from the beginning of my THR journey and today}

I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and the Hot Room has been my biggest challenge to date. Whichever location you attend you will find an immaculate environment filled with genuine instructors and dedicated practitioners. With a diverse range of classes and schedule times they give you no excuses to miss a day. At The Hot Room you are not just attending a studio, you are joining a community that will positively impact your life.

Sydney March

The studio itself is nice, and the two classes I took were solid, though nothing particularly standout. I purchased a two-week unlimited intro pass and had a sudden family emergency the same day as my first class that required me to leave the country. I returned 13 days later, meaning there was only one day left on my two-week pass. I explained this to the front desk and asked if there was any way to extend or honor the original trial period, since I wasn’t able to use it due to circumstances completely out of my control. I was only offered options that would require me to make an additional payment, and when I followed up explaining my disappointment and asking if there was any flexibility, I never received a response. Considering this is a yoga studio, I expected more understanding, compassion, and accommodation in a situation involving a family emergency. Overall, the lack of communication and empathy overshadowed the experience.

This was my first Pilates class with David, and it was truly exceptional. His clear, motivating instruction and perfect pacing made the workout both challenging and energizing. I appreciated how he emphasized form and breathing, offering subtle corrections and encouragement that helped me stay focused and engaged throughout. The flow of the class was seamless, and I left feeling stronger, balanced, and inspired. An outstanding instructor and a fantastic class — I’ll definitely be back! Jerome

Great atmosphere! The instructors, people, all of it. I’m a beginner to yoga, but I felt so welcomed. Just finished my first week and went to 10 different classes. They are so creative with the class names on their app, it makes it more fun. I really enjoy Elizabeth’s restore class. She even applies essential oils on you during practice. Her music was affirmation music & it was just a cool experience. I’ll be coming here!

Stopped in for my first hot yoga class in years. I had a great experience and look forward to coming back. The Sunday am class was not so packed to where you were on top of each other like some other studios. I loved the studio and the playlist! It was upbeat and a great workout overall. Parking was easy and free on a Sunday!

I would like to highlight YogaSix for their incredible community. I am a huge wellness advocate and I am so glad I joined YogaSix. I have tried a few Pilates studios/Hot Yoga studios in Indy and YogaSix is my absolute favorite. They have been so welcoming since the moment I booked my first class. The heated classes, the music, the coaches, the front desk team all 10 out of 10. Plus did I mention the cool events they host and the cold eucalyptus towels after class?! Every week I look forward to taking Power Sculpt with Liz she’s so amazing! I am beyond happy with my membership here. YogaSix is the best Yoga Studio in Indy! You can catch me at the Wednesday night & Saturday morning Power Sculpt in the 2nd Row!!

Had the opportunity to take a class with Liz as the instructor, I signed up online with a promo of three classes for $36 and seven days. I had done hot yoga in the past and appreciated the opportunity to get back into it with such a dynamic instructor for the sculpt class. Liz, incredible high energy, the room was a vibrant and action packed with folks being the best version of themselves. I appreciate her energy, candor, and affirmations throughout the workout. The front staff was great, welcoming and informative regarding the space and the experience. Although the space is small, the welcoming and community-like atmosphere allowed for it to feel comfortable working around people.

I started YogaSix in the Bottleworks district about a month ago and I have been so impressed! I came from doing 5 days/week in CrossFit/HIIT which was a little too much on my body physically and causing pain so wanted an equally difficult yet satisfying workout routine that was a bit gentler on the body and YogaSix has not disappointed! The team is so friendly and diverse- each instructor has their own style, intensity, etc. the classes are fun and challenging (burning similar if not more calories doing YogaSix than strictly cardio at my previous workout class too!) Overall, I’m so glad I stumbled upon YogaSix Indy and look forward to growing my practice with this community 🙂

Invoke has felt like home to me since joining early last year. Everyone is so friendly & welcoming, & there’s a wonderful array of class & instructor options. I especially appreciate everyone’s invitational language & the encouragement to focus on & strengthen our own practice *outside* of the studio. I also completed their 200-hour YTT program May 2024 & I could not speak more highly of the quality & variety of the curriculum & lead instructors. So grateful I signed up for their program & then became a Warrior member!

This was my first class at the Invoke Studio. I’ve taken several classes off site at the Lume and Yvonne’s rooftop classes at Ash and Elm. I purposely booked this class because Yvonne was teaching and I wanted to see what the studio classes were like. Her class was absolutely amazing, from the intentional sequencing, to the music playlist, to how welcoming and inclusive she was. The front desk staff were also incredibly welcoming and helpful. Definitely worth the 30 minute drive from Greenwood!

I’ve moved away and found an even deeper appreciation for Invoke than I had when I was in Indy! I miss the classes and the community, of course, but my review is about how Invoke transformed my relationship with group fitness. I find myself looking for group movement classes near my new home without any nerves or reservations and I completely owe that to the experience I had at Invoke. I learned that group fitness communities can be welcoming, inclusive, accessible, friendly, and truly a place to build community because of Invoke. It gives me a standard to search for in my new place and has given me complete confidence and eagerness to join group classes which I would have NEVER done if it wasn’t for Invoke. It unlocked a whole new world for me and changed my relationship with group fitness communities. Forever grateful.

Oh my goodness, where do I even start? The moment I heard Elizabeth Heidari was coming back, it was a no-brainer—I’d wake up at the ass crack of dawn, drive from Carmel to Mass Ave, and do it all with a smile! 🌅 That 6 AM Pilates class with her is pure magic. Elizabeth has this incredible ability to make you feel like you’re floating through each move—even when you’re secretly dying! 😅 I swear, her energy is contagious, and I leave feeling like a superhero every single time. If you ever need someone to rave about an instructor, just point me in the direction of Elizabeth, and I’m ready to sing her praises! 🎶 She’s not just an instructor; she’s a Pilates fairy godmother! Katie’s Vinyasa was a beautiful flow with unique transitions and a challenge to my practice. This was among my most favorite studio classes. As both a local business owner and Early Childhood Educator, I couldn’t be more impressed with Healthplex Gym! The facility is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully maintained, with every amenity you could want — from the fitness equipment and pool to group classes and recovery areas. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, and you can tell they care about creating a welcoming environment for everyone. What stands out most to me is the positive energy and sense of community here. It’s not just a gym; it’s a place that supports balance, health, and connection. As someone who spends her days caring for others, this has quickly become one of my favorite places to recharge and focus on myself. I also love that they offer discounts for educators and essential workers — that shows real appreciation for the people who keep our communities running. Highly recommend Healthplex Gym to anyone looking for a motivating, inclusive space to invest in their wellness! — Akira German Owner & Executive Director, Totly Childcare Inc.

…i cannot begin to detail the warmth you feel when you enter this gym- clean, professional, friendly, and so welcoming- and as a very plus size woman, i never feel judged or ridiculed- it’s just not that environment here- and recently i was linked with a personal trainer named emily, who has truly become a light in a dark and afraid mind- you never know what someone is going thru- and the ‘open arms feel’ you receive when you walk thru these doors is surreal- from the individuals at the desk, to the women in the locker room, to the pool workout instructors, to the staff in the dining area- there’s just (so) much love here- so blessed to have found it! so what are you waiting for?? please go see for yourself ❤️

I’ve had an amazing experience at Club Pilates. From day one, the staff made me feel welcome and comfortable, which honestly took a lot of the intimidation out of trying something new. The instructors are top tier. They pay close attention to form, offer hands on corrections, and give modifications so every level feels supported. Whether the class is full or small, it still feels personal. You can tell they care about progress, not just getting through the workout. What I appreciate most is the balance. The workouts are challenging but never reckless. I’ve noticed real improvements in my core strength, posture, and flexibility without the joint pain I used to get from traditional workouts. The studio itself is always clean, organized, and calm. Equipment is well maintained, and classes start on time, which matters when you’re fitting sessions into a busy schedule. If you’re looking for something that builds strength, tones your body, and clears your mind all at once, Club Pilates is absolutely worth it. It’s one of the few fitness commitments I’ve stuck with because it genuinely makes me feel better physically and mentally.

I LOVE pilates, it is the best, non impact exercise. Katie and her team are excellent instructors. They que very well, so you know what to focus on when you’re doing the exercises and get the maximum benefit. This is a fantastic place to get in shape quick and fun! The workouts are only 50 mins and most of the time I can’t believe it’s already over. It’s just wonderful and Katie does a wonderful job as the manager and instructor!

I’ve attended this location for about a year. I jokingly call it slow torture, but it is genuinely the best workout for strength (especially core), stretching, and balance. I love that each instructor brings their own personality to their class. I’m also happy with the increased class selection. Thanks to everyone including the lovely front desk staff who always welcome you in with a smile.

I was very impressed with Katie’s class! Katie was excellent in providing the lowest impact variation FIRST and then progressing into the higher impact/more strenuous variations. Katie used positive, inclusive language, which honestly is hard to find in a pilates class. Even at the other club pilates in the area, I still hear «suck your tummy in», but none of that in Katie’s class!!! What I was also very impressed with was that Katie instructed transitions, eg getting off the reformer, moving to a different position safely. As a disability advocate (and a disabled person myself) this is SOOO important and is often forgotten or under appreciated. It was my first time at this location, and I was welcomed immediately. Lastly, again sometimes overlooked, I did not hear any gendered language. Pilates, yes, has a lot of femme clients. However, just because someone looks a certain way doesn’t mean anything about their gender (or disability or life experience etc). I would recommend Katie’s class to my queer and disabled friends. Which is a rare find!!! This won’t be my last class with Katie!

I’ve had the greatest experience here at club Pilates in downtown Indianapolis. Every one of their instructors is top-notch and I have really enjoyed the classes. Their team is very helpful and accommodating. My body has felt stronger by attending classes. The downside is the parking at this location. If you go on a Sunday, it’s free public parking, but otherwise it’s hard to find parking in the neighborhood to avoid paying on weekdays and Saturdays. Sometimes it was difficult to get into a class because of the availability and scheduling. But other than that, I would highly recommend their facility.

I was instructed to arrive 15 min early to get the socks and sign a waiver. The class started on time. Emily the instructor was detailed and explained everything and the basic movements well. I felt good muscle burning after just a few moves in my calves and triceps and really could tell what a great workout this was. My favorite thing was how slow and controlled the movement is. The instructions were good, I really appreciated that sort of focus.

I started at INFitness early/middle February 2026. I have gone almost every single week day since I joined. My sister raved about the hot pilates class and then someone I follow on Instagram posted about a free trial week, and I was hooked. After having 4 boys since 2020(a set of twins in the middle), it was hard to find motivation to go to a gym I didn’t feel like I fit in at, but that was not the case at INFitness. They take care of the whole family here- sauna and well laid out equipment for mom and dad, PT for injuries, mom care with Nurture pre and post- natal care, and FREE CHILDCARE while you workout on site. This is a place I will continue to come to, not just because of its convenient location. It is worth every penny to show my boys that as a mom I can do hard things and stay consistent. Kids watch how their parents take care of themselves.

I’ve historically had to maintain two memberships or choose between gyms when engaging with functional fitness and mobility work. Fast forward and now I a mom and need to also include childcare in my list of requirements for a gym. INFit has it ALL! They have fair prices, excellent equipment and facilities, group classes, and amenities like a sauna and childcare that set it above anything else I’ve experienced locally or otherwise. Beyond that, they make holistic healthcare accessible by having PT and a functional med provider colocated on site. This makes the difference in me being able to access the care I need routinely and was so thoughtfully curated for members. As a mom, these aspects mean so much to me to feel supported and I am happy to support this local business!!

IN Fitness is the premier place to workout in Indianapolis. John & Jack were fantastic as I needed a place to lift for a week while in town on business. The gym is clean, wide open, great cardio bay, group fitness area, HIIT turf areas as well as state of the art Olympic racks. The equipment is brand new and barely used- I was spoiled by possibly the best facility I have ever entered. The staff, what can I say- they make you feel at home as soon as you step in. Was on a first name basis by the end of the week with the majority of staff. A hidden gem is the recovery room- 3 cold plunges at different temps depending on your preference, the best massage chair I’ve ever seen (it scans your body for problem areas and provides a custom experience) infrared sauna, foam rollers and lacrosse ball area. This gym is something special, the staff is constantly improving the facility, searching for feedback for what could be added and genuinely interested in their members health and activity level. If you are in the Far Northside/Carmel area of Indianapolis, stop in and see for yourself. Any workout you could imagine can and will be crushed here. Shoutout to John & Jack for being great hosts! You two made this experience great 👏

The staff at IN Fitness Club goes above and beyond to be sure members are happy and have what they need to be as fit as possible. The equipment, space, and amenities make you feel like you are at a country club. There never seems to be waiting for equipment. The staff are always cleaning so it is spotless. Dan and Tara are the physical therapists on staff and I have been to both of them. Incredible expertise and they have gone out of their way to make me healthy and get through any physical issues or limitations. I am so grateful to everyone there for providing a wonderful experience that makes you want to go work out. Highly recommend IN Fitness Club!! Special shoutout to Tessa and Crystal as well. The customer service is outstanding!

Took my first Yoga Nidra with Wendy and I absolutely loved it! It was so relaxing and Wendy is extremely kind! The Irvington Wellness Center is relaxing and welcoming! I will definitely be doing more sessions here. I felt revitalized when I left.

Teresa is an angel! I could tell immediately she is well-experienced and incredibly skilled in her techniques. I can only base that off of previous deep-tissue massages with other therapists. I would never keep up with them in rescheduling because I really didn’t feel much different upon getting home. As someone who has struggled with chronic shoulder and neck pain for years following an injury, I have never felt this loose and relaxed! I cannot wait for my next appointment and I am so thankful that I finally have found someone who can help alleviate my pain. Thank you, Teresa!

Teresa is wonderful. I’ve been going to her for almost 5 years now. She has a lovely personality and is very skilled at finding the pain points without me even saying anything. She really has a talent for healing with her hands. She is also very perceptive and can tell if you’re interested in chatting during the massage or need a quiet massage and matches the vibe you need. She can give a relaxing massage if you need it or she can «beat you up» if you need it, too LOL. What I mean by that is, if you want deep pressure to attack angry muscles, she can take care of that. That’s my preference, for her to do whatever she needs to do to get my muscles to loosen up. It’s great lol.

The genuine love, compassion, and sincerity I felt as soon as I sat down in my first visit was immediate. She’s an angel among us that can only be described as doing God’s work. I will not be able to explain everything done in my visit to give it justice, but I walk away so much better physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I can only express my gratitude by sharing goodness with others the way that Laura did me. Her expertise and heart culminate into an experience, that I can only wish for everyone. God bless you always with everything that I can dream for you, Laura.

They have chair yoga here. Anna our instructor was fabulous Lots of stretching exercises. When l went there, we mainly worked on the back and hips which l really needed. It was a nice zen feel with music. The other ladies there were also helpful. I will be returning because Anna is so great in what she does.

I attended my first class today. The instructor and other attendees were very welcoming and friendly. The center has a good vibe. The class was awesome! The instructor offered modifications regularly and allowed room for individualization. I would definitely attend again. Bring water!-

I like deep massages and the therapist. Gave me a deep massage. I came in for my sciatica nerve on the right side of my leg, not only did she help with that she also help with my stiff neck and I didn’t even tell her about that.

I’m just getting back into the gym and working out and have now been to this gym a couple of times. The owner and her daughter have been more then welcoming, creating a comfortable environment. The classes have been perfect for all fitness levels, offering challenging variations with modifications if needed. This gym is truly a gem that embodies community and support. I’ve been working out at Taylor Made Wellness for close to three years and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. It is a clean gym that has everything I need and a culture of family! Kelsey makes efforts to get to know her clients personally, welcoming my kids even, at times when I couldn’t have worked out without them present. Everyone at this gym is so supportive of each other – it really is an encouraging place to be. Highly recommended!

Everything you need in a small gym. I first came to Taylor made looking for an experienced personal trainer that would take me to the next level. Boy did I get more than I bargained for. The gym offered me so much support. Having personal training in the past. The gyms itself wasn’t as supportive. I would get the training but not the gym. Either the gym wasn’t equipped with the machines for personal use after training or the gym itself was not convenient to my location. So after the personal training, I was left to search for another place to workout. Conveniently located downtown, this gym was everything that I needed. Not only did it push me to the next level but create a lifestyle of health and fitness. Kelsey is very knowledgeable of health and wellness and always there(between normal business hours) to give you a helping hand with great advice and suggestions. And if personal training isn’t something you are looking for group training classes are also available. If you are looking for a gym that can push you, motivate you and create an everlasting impression on Health and Wellness, give Taylor Made a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Love the atmosphere here! It has the small-town gym character where everyone is super friendly toward one another and everyone is there to have a good workout. Despite it’s size, it has lots of equipment and it’s never packed. The owner, Kelsey, is very kind and passionate about her business and helping you achieve whatever your workout goals are.

Visited while in town for work. Classic strength gym with a friendly atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but has everything you need to get a great training session in. But there are DBs up to 150#! Kelsey offers group strength training classes on Monday, Wed and Sat and that group was crushing it! I’ll be back for sure

Melanie Bernas

I’ve been coming to Era since February 2019 and can say that Era Pilates is truly exceptional! Mary is both an outstanding instructor and human being. Outside of my regular practice, she has expertly supported me with private pilates sessions thru multiple pregnancies and challenging postpartum recoveries. I also went thru her comprehensive teacher training program, which was very detailed and set me up for success as a teacher. Mary genuinely cares about her clients and her student teachers, she invests in her people and the atmosphere at her studio is very positive. Plus, the new space is absolutely stunning! The entire instructor team at Era is knowledgeable, thoughtful, and consistently challenging in the best way. If you’re looking for a beautiful downtown Pilates studio and instructors who care about both your progress and your well-being, Era Pilates is it! Highly, highly recommend!!

Era Pilates is such a beautiful studio. The natural light makes it so inviting and the whole space feels fresh and energizing. Khloe is a fantastic instructor! She has such a positive, upbeat approach while still giving clear and easy-to-follow directions. As someone getting back into fitness, I’ve never felt more comfortable walking into a new space. I actually look forward to class every time. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love Khole’s classes at Era’s Pilates! She creates a welcoming and positive environment that makes every session both challenging and fun. I always leave feeling stronger and more accomplished, and I truly appreciate how much laughter and encouragement she brings to class. I also want to mention how much I enjoy all the staff at Era’s Pilates. The entire team is warm, supportive, and genuinely cares about women’s health and wellness. The environment feels empowering and inclusive, and I always feel comfortable and motivated when I’m there. Highly recommend Era’s Pilates to anyone looking for a great workout and a supportive community!

This was my first time trying Pilates and I feel so lucky to have met Khloe! She is full of energy, very attentive, and teaches with so much care. After just one class, I knew I wanted to continue learning with her. I’m working toward a strong and toned physique, and Khloe herself is the perfect example of the kind of results I’m aiming for. Her approach and fitness philosophy really resonate with me. She even designs classes tailored to my preference for strength-focused training, which I absolutely love. If you’re looking for Pilates that is both empowering and full of vitality, I can’t recommend Khloe’s classes enough!

If you’re an absolute sadist like me who enjoys apologizing to friends and family when they ask, «Why are you walking so slow?» – just because you love being able to flex you’ve begun your journey towards becoming a Pilates princess – then you will LOVE Khloe Lockwood! I never drank pre-workout before I started classes with Khloe, but now I snort my pre-workout just to jumpstart my heart in order to keep up in her classes. Her classes will absolutely kick your butt. She pushes her clients and makes sure they get their money’s worth (because let’s be honest – pilates is not cheap!), but I PROMISE you, she’ll never give you more than you can handle. She’s funny, motivating, personable, has a great eye for detail and is one of the best instructors to help guide you along your Pilates journey. Thanks to her, I am sooo much stronger and flexible than I was before just a month ago, and now I can finally see my abs. I genuinely look forward to pilates class because I know I’ll get a great workout in thanks to her. Khloe is truly an incredible teacher who will push you, make you work HARD, but always within your limits. I cannot recommend her enough.

I’ve been taking private classical and group contemporary classes with Khloe since March 2025 and I’ve felt so much better about my body and gaining so much strength! She’s been able to help me connect with my body again and be confident in myself. She knows how to challenge you in the right ways, and make me push myself hard during workouts. I always look forward to my classes and ask her all the time for group classical because I want to go so often. If you’re considering starting with Pilates, definitely book with Khloe!

My first ever pilates session was with Khloe in January 2025 at Era Pilates. It has been a few months now of doing one private class a week. I have noticed a huge change in how I feel about my body, how my clothes fit, my balance, and my level of fitness. I always look forward to the class even though I know that the next day it will hurt to walk. I really appreciated how she approached the conversation of what my goals were during my first private class and she has done a great job of tailoring my classes to get the results I want. I enjoy that Khloe brings so much variety to the classes which keeps the classes fun and challenging. Khloe does a great job of safely pushing you towards your fitness goals by focusing on form. It is a really rewarding experience when I can successfully do reps of an exercise I could only do one of during the previous week. I would highly recommend booking a private class or group class at Era Pilates with Khloe!

Frequently asked questions about pilates centers in Indianapolis

What types of Pilates classes are typically offered at Indianapolis centers?

Many pilates centers in Indianapolis offer a diverse range of classes catering to different fitness levels and goals. You’ll commonly find mat Pilates, which utilizes your body weight and focuses on core strength and stability. Other popular options include reformer Pilates, which employs a specialized machine with springs and sliders to provide resistance and support, and equipment Pilates utilizing various machines for targeted muscle activation. Some centers also offer pre-natal Pilates, post-natal Pilates, and specialized classes like Pilates for athletes.

How much experience should a Pilates instructor have?

When choosing a center, it’s important to consider the experience of the Pilates instructors. Look for instructors certified by recognized organizations such as the International Association of Machine Pilates (IAM Pilates) or the Balanced Body Pilates. A significant amount of experience, including practical training and ongoing professional development, is highly beneficial. Instructors should be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of Pilates principles and proper technique.

What should I wear to a Pilates class?

Comfortable and breathable clothing is essential for Pilates. Athletic wear, such as leggings and a moisture-wicking top, is generally recommended. Avoid loose-fitting clothing that could get caught in the equipment. It’s best to wear clothes that allow for a full range of motion. You’ll typically need to remove your shoes and wear a grippy Pilates socks to ensure traction on the studio floor.

Are there different levels of Pilates classes?

Yes, most reputable pilates centers offer classes at various levels, typically categorized as beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Beginner classes focus on foundational movements and proper technique, while intermediate and advanced classes involve more challenging exercises and increased intensity. Don't hesitate to inform the instructor of your experience level – a good instructor will be able to tailor the class to your needs. Some studios also offer private sessions for personalized instruction.

What is the reformer machine and how does it work?

The reformer is a key piece of equipment in many Pilates studios. It’s a specialized machine with a sliding carriage, springs, and straps that allow for a greater range of movement and resistance than traditional mat Pilates. The springs provide variable resistance, allowing you to control the difficulty of each exercise. The reformer is excellent for strengthening the core, improving flexibility, and rehabilitating injuries. Proper instruction is key to safe and effective use.

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Pilates offers numerous physical and mental benefits, including increased core strength, improved posture, enhanced flexibility, increased muscle tone, and reduced stress. The method emphasizes proper alignment and body awareness, leading to better movement patterns. Pilates can also be beneficial for individuals recovering from injuries or managing chronic pain. It's a low-impact exercise that’s gentle on the joints.

How much does a Pilates class cost in Indianapolis?

The cost of Pilates classes in Indianapolis can vary depending on the studio, class type, and membership options. Typically, drop-in rates range from approximately $15 to $25 per class, while monthly memberships can range from $80 to $200, offering unlimited access to classes. Some studios offer package deals or discounts for longer-term commitments. It’s wise to compare prices and class offerings before making a decision.

What equipment do Pilates centers in Indianapolis typically use?

Common equipment found in Indianapolis pilates centers includes the reformer, the chair, the cadillac, and various mat accessories, such as resistance bands and stability balls. Smaller studios may focus primarily on mat Pilates and reformer Pilates, while larger facilities may offer a wider range of equipment. The specific equipment used will often reflect the style and philosophy of the studio.

How do I choose the right Pilates center for me?

When choosing a Pilates center in Indianapolis, consider your fitness goals, experience level, and budget. Visit different studios, observe a class, and talk to the instructors to assess their expertise and teaching style. Check for instructor certifications and read online reviews. Look for a studio that offers a welcoming and supportive atmosphere. Don't hesitate to ask questions until you feel comfortable and confident in your choice.

Are there any specific health conditions that might make Pilates unsuitable?

While Pilates is generally safe and beneficial for most people, there are certain health conditions that may make it unsuitable without consulting a healthcare professional. Individuals with severe back pain, neck pain, recent surgeries, or acute injuries should speak with their doctor before starting Pilates. A qualified instructor can often modify exercises to accommodate individual needs and limitations, but open communication with your healthcare provider is always recommended.
