Mike

I took a tour of the Marquette facility in anticipation of my mom’s future needs. This place is hands-down the best of the best. It’s far superior to the other senior residential facilities I have visited. The individual apartments are really nicely appointed with high-end finishes. All of the public spaces are beautiful, beautiful billiard room, and dining facilities, and beautiful pool and exercise areas.

Marquette is such a special place to call home! I had the privilege of helping seniors move out of their house and into Marquette and saw them welcomed with warm smiles from staff and fellow residents! Their renovations are beautiful and were so thoughtfully planned out for maximum enjoyment of social time with friends and family! I’m so excited for the future growth of this vibrant community and can’t wait to help others make their perfect move!

Marquette has an excellent multi decade reputation for a reason. From the gorgeous campus to the full continuum of care, excellent food options, robust calendar of activities, beautiful apartment choices, to a dedicated and tenured staff, it is all quite impressive. Despite all of the wonderful amenities what will really give you a lasting impression when you visit Marquette is the engaging and happy residents. Nothing can compare to residents stopping you in the hallway or one of the many common areas to tell you how much they love living there.

I did a Chuy’s delivery for a meeting they had. This is such a beautiful place! I was first created by the security gate staff who was so friendly and welcoming, he directed me to exactly where I needed to go. Walking into the building was a delightful vibe, clean, esthetics were perfect, smelled amazing and amazing staff who greeted me with a welcoming warm smile! I’ve been in several elderly care places for family members and I would definitely say this is a place that you would compare to the fanciest hotel!

Marquette Manor is a beautiful, well maintained campus. The nursing staff is exceptional. They are knowledgeable, and treat all the residents as their own. Most of the staff have been there for many years, which is a testament to great leadership. The supportive staff also shows love to the residents, and welcome guests. It is an all around wonderful, positive environment to be in.

Rich Hauser

I have been a client of Amada Senior Care since 2022. They have helped me understand and navigate the use of a long term care policy, and as my mom’s health declined, began to provide companion services in 2023 at her life plan community. Belinda and her team are organized, kind, compassionate, honest, and well trained. I have deep faith in the aid that assists my mom with all activities of daily living now and shepherds her participation in facility activities. I highly recommend Amada.

My stepdad is a veteran at an assisted living facility. While he doesn’t need a lot of additional services, Amada does a good job of providing companionship for him and staff is always willing to attend to whatever needs he does have. They provide excellent communication. I also appreciate the respect and appreciation the company shows towards veterans.

Amada Senior Care is Wonderful! Tameka – Scheduler is absolutely fantastic at her job and as a person. She takes great care of her patients and is very understanding and caring of their needs. Nick made promises that he kept, which was also absolutely amazing and he returns calls, or texts even on his days off. I am so happy that I met him via phone conversation and after several months we were able to make this work. Their caregivers that they send out to your home are fantastic and I have fallen in love with them. They treat my Pops with the utmost respect, kindness and may I say Love. They have just fallen for Pops and you can see the kindness and respect just pouring out of them while caring for them. If it weren’t for Tameka, I don’t know what I would have done. Transferring your care from one agency to another is very scary, thinking that they are all the same, but rest assured, they are not. I wish I would have had Amada from the very beginning of this journey, it would have been the difference between night and day.

Further, the schedulers are pro-active, actively communicate, and make every effort to ensure necessary and timely service. THANK YOU Amada Senior Care! I highly recommend this company as they have proven their commitment to providing the highest standards of dependable care from day one.

Amada has been helping me care for my mom for about a year. I needed someone to stay with her while I’m at work after she had a stroke. The first care taker they sent us was… sketchy. They took my concerns very seriously. They found a replacement as quickly as they could. They have since completely overhauled their hiring process and increased their security checks. They have taken steps to be sure this doesn’t happen again. We have had some small issues with reliability. That is mostly due to us living on the northern edge of Amada’s territory. Most of their staff live in Indianapolis and don’t want to drive up here. In this economy I don’t really blame them. But I do have to occasionally miss work because the care taker called off. The office staff handled everything with my mom’s insurance. They were easy to work with and responded in a timely manner.

As soon as you walk in the door, you realize there’s something quite special about this place. It’s spacious and modern while still feeling warm and inviting. The people who work here seem genuinely happy in their jobs and go out of their way to accommodate each resident, all of whom are known by name. Kindness emanates from each staff member – no matter their position – to every person they meet. Chris, the nurse at the Commons, has been especially helpful and supportive in keeping me updated on my sister’s well-being.The care for my sister is exceptional! My every question or concern has been addressed by the management in a professional and caring manner. I feel so grateful that my sister lives here now; she finally feels secure, safe and accepted just as she is.

The Plaza is a magnificent destination for seniors who demand only the highest standards in senior living – an award winning kitchen with sumptuous options, buildings safely and securely tucked away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream life, and a community of residents with open arms and hearts to new residents, while still respecting resident’s personal needs and privacy. Whether you seek a cozy and private but fully independent style of living, or a comfortable, serene apartment where you receive a bit of help around the edges, the Plaza offers both, and in conjunction with the adjacent Life Care Center. Residents can easily enjoy life here, in its many stages, without needing to leave good friends behind or transfer to a foreign new environment. I cannot more highly recommend the Westside Garden Plaza, where seniors call «home».

My mother-in-law lived in WSG for 8 years and now my mother has lived there for 3 years. Driving up to the place shows off its beautiful setting and landscaping. It is always very well cared for. And upon entering any of the sections, it has always been clean and classy. In addition, the employees have always treated both mothers and us with care and concern. During the past 19 months they have worked hard to respect resident’s autonomy yet made efforts to keep everyone safe. They have followed public health guidelines but allowed flexibility. My mother has friends in the community, has joined committees where she has a voice in change, enjoys card groups and day trips, and appreciates the beautiful gardens outside her windows. My compliments to the admin and staff of this well run retirement living community.

The Harrison ranks higher than a 10 especially in comparison to my former home. My apartment is beautiful, clean and bright. I feel so at home with smiles and pride showing from the staff members and residents. The entire staff from Carmen, Jessica, Lisa, Nate, Nursing Supervisor, QMA that I knew from another facility seeing your welcoming face was the extra that I needed, Ms T, my QMAS and CNAs that helped me quickly get over my PTSD from my former AL, the Dining Room staff from their supervisor and the staff and their food is soooooooo good, perfect portions tasty, healthy and balanced. OMG, and the housekeepers welcome is so appreciated.. Again the food is sooooo good and I can always find something great to eat. Everyone is so helpful with smiles and welcomes from the front desk to the dining room and I’ve only been here a week and the amenities get better every day. They treat you the way I deserve to be treated. With PT and OT in house. I have everything I need here. The Harrison is such a beautiful building and the people that work here are exceptional and put love in their performance. I love my new forever home. ❤️

My mom moved into a two bedroom apartment in June 2024 and has had a great experience. They offer regular cleaning, three meals daily and the staff have been great. The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars is the building needs some updates and refreshing. Otherwise my mom and family have been quite pleased.

I have lived in Independent Living at the Forum for a couple of months and I am really happy with my decision. I would describe the Forum atmosphere as a Community of Kindness. Both the residents and staff are so friendly and considerate, and the dining room staff (who are truly outstanding!) actually knew my name on my first day here. There are lots of activities and occasional live entertainment which has been great so far. Meals and activities are a great way to meet other residents and get to know some wonderful people, and you never have to eat alone unless you choose to. I have eaten more fruits and vegetables since I moved here and I am exercising more. The people who have lived here for a while have been very happy with their experience. Residents are at different stages in life, but you are seen as a human being and there is no judgement. And freedom from responsibilities of home ownership has been wonderful for me because I feel as though I can relax and have fun now.

We have been so happy with the Forum family since mom moved in. I researched and visited over 30 independent, assistive, & memory care facilities with my sis and niece to find the best match for moms current needs. She has only been here a month but so happy with all staff, food, activities, and facilities. The residences are kind and friendly and we feel like we have an extended family. So many kind residents and their family reaching out to our mom and us. The staff from front desk, dining, activities, housekeeping, maintenance, and so many others, have been outstanding and so helpful while she is transitioning to so much newness. The outstanding staff go out of their way to ensure she gets down for meals, find her way to activities when she seems lost, and have helped her meet new friends with common interest. The resident ambassadors group is awesome. We feel comfortable with her living at the forum as Everyone of the staff regardless of their role are hard working, sincerely kind and loving individuals who engage with the residence making them comfortable in their home. We are happy we found this new home for mom that is closer to both of us and helps us in caring for moms needs when we can’t be there!

As a service provider to seniors, I have the opportunity to interact with many different senior communities. I have collaborated with the staff at The Forum to serve several seniors who were transitioning from home into The Forum. All the residents I know there have been very happy with their decision to live there. The staff is fabulous, and always puts the residents first in all their dealings. The Sales Dir, Stephanie, is a top-notch caring professional, and always treats people with the utmost respect. I recommend The Forum very highly. FIVE STARS!!

My father moved into Memory Care in 2009 and my mother moved into an apartment at The Forum at about the same time. The staff in Memory Care was amazing at how quickly they got to know Dad’s personality. Mom and I spent a lot of time with Dad and got to know the staff and other residents there. There was always an open line of communication with the staff and they were responsive to our needs. Mom quickly integrated into the social life of apartment living and stayed very active. I enjoyed visiting with her, participating in activities, especially happy hour! The staff in independent living was amazing. They provided an individualized continuum of care for Mom until she moved to Memory Care. When that time came I was so happy to see that although it had been a number of years since Dad was in Memory Care, much of the staff was the same, and it was comforting that many of them already knew my mom. Many of my friends’ parents have moved into retirement homes and assisted living, and as I hear of the problems they have encountered, I am grateful for my family’s experience with The Forum.

We had to arrange a place for our dad almost a year ago. The Forum has been wonderful helping him make the transition from living in his own home to being at The Forum . He loves his apartment, the staff is always friendly, there is always something engaging going on that the residents find interesting, and he enjoys the food. It was such a relief to find a place where he is safe and that he enjoys.

I became the only caregiver for a relative almost 3 years ago on very short notice. I had helped my aunt and uncle move to The Forum near the end of his life a couple of years previous, and knew the facility to be well managed, clean and accommodating. When faced with the urgent need to get my relative placed somewhere immediately, the manager Rita went above & beyond to accommodate him & his precious little dog. When it shortly became apparent that independent living was not viable, she helped me make the move for him to memory care. He has been there since and as expected had to adjust to not having his dog with him or being in his own home. But we were able to move his own things in and the head nurse Christina, nurse Angela, «maintenance guru» Smokey & all the staff have made numerous accommodations to his «take charge» personality to make him feel at home. Now when I visit, he tells me regularly how happy he is! This is such a wonderful thing to hear from someone with dementia, when as caregiver, you struggle with knowing if you are doing what’s best for your charge. I have even recently utilized the location for respite care for another loved one I care for. This is a great place to live whether independently, and in need of more, and obviously one I won’t hesitate to utilize for myself if, or when, the time comes!

There’s stuff there has safety and well-being of their guests and tenants at the very forefront of their day-to-day operations. I can’t say enough good things about these people. There was a time I came in to see my mother and they had a fall belt around her and were helping her so she would not fall. I did not encourage her to try to do too much by herself without assistance, that works regularly with the rehabilitation team to build her strength back up. Nothing bad about this place at all, good staff, good management, great facility directors. From my heart thank you all for what you’re doing and have done, for me and my mother.

I wouldn’t even give one star. However, I have too. The rehab and long term care side are gross. Beyond dirty. They run out of clean lines all the time. Had staff yell at our loved one. Let them lay in urine for hrs. The even i went in and had to call 911 for our loved one was awful. QMA couldn’t answer simple questions. She got nasty when i asked symple questions. Couldn’t get anyone to answer the phone when I call in an emergency situation ( evening time). When i arrive staff at the nursing station eating and talking on personal phone calls. Had a Nurse tell me the CNAs all complained about caring for our loved one. Found another resident one the floor. She was by herself in the dinning room. I the family helped the nurse get her off the floor. The night I called 911. I looked at both nurses and said would you of left you mom in tgis situation? They both said No. So if you wouldn’t leave your mom here then why should I leave my loved one? I will come back and add pictures I took and how i would find our loved one. If I didn’t personal give our loved one a shower they wouldn’t of gotten one. Times where food wasn’t given. Another family member witnessed staff yell at our loved one. Called the DON. The one time I actually got to speak to her, I asked if she would like to see the pictures. She said No, i believe you and I am trying. End of story.

My brother was admitted from Franciscan & was doing well. He was at Rosegate for 2 weeks & his health quickly declined. Call lights went unanswered once resulting in a fall. He became very confused & was in bad shape & my concerns fell on deaf ears. He left Rosegate 2-1-26 & was immediately taken to Franciscan Health where he was diagnosed with severe dehydration & COVID. Pure negligence in Rosegate ‘s part. Never let a loved one, or any living creature, set foot in this dump.

I’ve been coming here for 3 1/2 years now. It’s a good place to go to make friends, go on outings to different places, and there is always an activity going on. I especially love the themed parties they have. The employees are caring and go out of their way to help with anything going on. I’m definitely glad my CICOA case manager told me about Independent. An extra bonus is unless I’m going shopping everything else is paid for by Medicaid. An absolute plus!!

People are very nice. I have been going for about 3 to 4 months now, and I really enjoy it. They play bingo and other things, go on outings which are fun. Food could be better. But all in all a great place to go.

My mother has been at Meadow Lakes for a few months now and there have been some issues we have been facing. The weekend staff is horrible and if something is a medium level problem they have shipped her to the ER. We don’t necessarily think they should have helped her there, but it just seems like they don’t care about the community. Mom has been suffering from an open sore on her heel, requiring a stay in the hospital, three times now it is so badly infected this week they are amputating to below the knee. We were told that they were changing her bandages every day, but it had discharged through several layers of the bandages that the doctor showed us when we met the ambulance at the ER. Mom wears a diaper and there have been several times that she has had to sit in her waste causing UTIs and now she has a raging yeast infection too. Our family believes that if this is the skilled nursing level my mom gets what is happening to the patients who have no one to champion for them.

You would think that you would want the first face you see waking into one of your facilities to be a pleasant one. One would also think you would tell family members or visitors of a resident when the codes change to enter the building. You should really look into this, though I know you won’t.

My family member had a recent stay at Greenwood Meadows SNF. We were thrilled with Therapy and Nursing services during his stay. Shortly after, several invoices arrived which requested immediate payment despite MCR and Supp benefits. After an incorrect payment was dropped off to the Business Office Manager at the facility, we have been attempting to get the funds returned. So far 3 seperate trips to the Business Office Manager but told «funds are waiting at Corporate office on Grey Road». Now told Carolyn Goodman, Dir Accounts Payable might be able to track down the missing check. There just is no one available in the entire Corporate office who can assist despite traveling here from Greenwood Meadows right away. Wasted trip and difficult climb up the stairs to get to office l. Learning experience: be sure to double check your Medicare and supplemental benefits to understand exact liabilities before remitting payment to a large SNF organization that may delay refunds for over several weeks as funds «move from one office location to another». Otherwise, rehab stay was wonderful, food enjoyed, activities a plus. Disappointed with Business Office handling of situation only.

UPDATE: This was Harcourt Terrace. I pray that they’re better now. I still wouldn’t send my loved one there. It’s amazing that no one can return a call from corporate. ( Gwen Patterson. But will call the facility and not return MY call. Am I beneath you?) Also, please watch your loved ones. What you see in the «front area» is not accurate of what is common knowledge around the facility. Some residents live in filth. Items are destroyed and hidden. Make sure you keep an inventory of everything and be a voice for your loved ones. I’ve seen feces left in toilets, sticky floors and tables, walls tore up, finger check needles left in bedside nightstands, roaches on fruit bowls, etc.. They wouldn’t want someone doing this to their loved ones, or maybe they do and don’t care. The bare minimum is done, and it shows. No oversight, and short-handed. I’m sorry only works for so long. DO better.

The rehab in Salem Indiana suck the therapy department is great to my family member and staff is nice but the food sucks I think this place should go use Sysco foods and get better food and stop serving the same thing everyday n every week it seems like they have fish and I know people are tired of fish and chicken everyday and the housekeepers in Salem location needs to clean rooms a lot better and speaking of that the laundry department lost a pair of my family members pants and no one from laundry has contacted them about there pants and this facility in Salem needs a updated shower room because it’s deteriorating please change some things at this facility especially the food service

My mother recently passed away in the memory care unit at Rosegate Village after 2 long years of fighting the horrible Alzheimer’s disease. Without Heidi and her team in memory care I personally don’t think mom would have made it as long as she did. Heidi is the most caring yet professional nurse I have ever dealt with. They bent over backwards not only for mom but for me as well. Bless the women who take on this job. There could never be enough compensation.

Christina Pannell

My mother was a resident in the rehab side of Rosewalk, and I can’t say enough about the care and support she received during her time there. The staff was attentive and compassionate, but I want to especially recognize Samantha, the Social Services Director who was absolutely fantastic. Samantha consistently went above and beyond to make sure my mom’s needs were met—not just physically, but emotionally as well. She kept us well-informed, advocated for my mom when needed, and always made time to answer our questions with patience and empathy. Her professionalism and genuine care made a difficult time so much more manageable for our family. We are deeply grateful for everything Samantha and the team did for our mom. If you’re looking for a place where your loved one will be treated with dignity and kindness, I highly recommend.

I’ve had the pleasure of coordinating care with Samantha (Social Services Director) and Omar (Executive Director) on multiple occasions. They have always been strong patient advocates and our care has been successful in a large part due to them. I’ve felt welcomed from the beginning in this community and you should as well.

My love one was transported from Methodist hospital to this rehab facility about 10 days ago, and already I’m seeing so much improvement in his physical health, mental health, and his communication skills. The staff has been very attentive to his needs since day 1, and actually take the time to show they care!!! He has been in several other rehab facilities over the years after surgeries, and this is the first one he gives a 5 star rating. It smells clean, looks clean, and the staff is well dressed. He enjoys talking with the staff at all levels – from front desk, to the drs, and the therapist make exercising fun. He’s usually not to quick to give anyone in the medical profession a compliment or positive feedback, so his review of this facility is worth sharing. Keep up the good work Rosewalk!! 🙌🏽

Where do I start? Such a wonderful facility. I did my rehab there and was treated with the best care! Awesome staffing and management. I also did my physical therapy there after I had coronoid surgery. The therapy team is awesome! Specifically Lucy and Ronnie. They were strict, patient, friendly and caring! They made my recovery process a wonderful experience! I’m forever grateful for them!

Frequently asked questions about elderly day centers in Indianapolis

What is an elderly day center?

An elderly day center provides a structured and supportive environment for older adults who need some assistance with daily activities. These centers offer a range of services designed to promote social engagement, encourage cognitive stimulation, and provide a safe and supervised setting. They aren’t residential care, but rather a place for seniors to spend their days, often with activities and social interaction.

What types of activities do day centers typically offer?

The specific activities offered vary from center to center, but common offerings include arts and crafts, exercise and movement classes (like chair yoga or tai chi), cognitive games and puzzles, music therapy, reminiscence therapy (discussing past memories), group outings, and special interest groups based on hobbies or passions. Many centers also provide opportunities for volunteer work.

    Are day centers regulated?

Yes, elderly day centers in Indianapolis are subject to regulations set by the Indiana Department of Health and local health departments. These regulations cover areas such as staff-to-resident ratios, safety protocols, food service standards, and emergency procedures. It’s important to ensure that any center you consider meets these requirements to guarantee the well-being of residents.

What qualifications should the staff have?

The staff at an elderly day center should have a combination of skills and training. Ideally, they’ll possess certified nursing assistant (CNA) certification, experience in elder care, and training in areas like behavior management, first aid, and CPR. Background checks and ongoing training are also crucial aspects of ensuring a safe and caring environment. Proper training ensures the staff can handle diverse needs.

What support does the day center provide for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s?

Many day centers specialize in supporting individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. They offer specialized activities and care designed to promote cognitive function, reduce agitation, and provide a safe and familiar environment. Staff are typically trained in dementia care best practices and can assist with behavioral management and personal care needs.

What about transportation to and from the day center?

Many day centers offer transportation services to and from the center. Some partner with local transportation agencies or utilize volunteer drivers. It’s crucial to confirm the availability and details of transportation arrangements, including pickup and drop-off locations, and any associated costs. Reliable transport is often a key factor in a senior’s ability to participate.

What is the cost of attending a day center?

The cost of attending a day center can vary depending on the center's location, the services offered, and the individual's needs. Costs can be based on an hourly rate, a monthly fee, or a combination of both. Financial assistance programs may be available to help cover the cost. It’s important to inquire about payment options and any associated fees.

What are the benefits of attending an elderly day center?

Attending an elderly day center offers numerous benefits, including socialization, reduced loneliness, cognitive stimulation, improved physical health through exercise, and a sense of purpose. It can also provide peace of mind for families who are concerned about their loved one’s well-being. Increased social interaction has significant positive impacts.

How do I choose the right day center for my loved one?

Choosing the right day center requires careful consideration. Visit several centers to assess their environment, meet the staff, and observe the activities. Ask about their philosophy of care, staff qualifications, and safety procedures. Talk to other families who have used the center and consider your loved one’s individual needs and preferences. Thorough research is key.

What are the signs that a day center might not be a good fit?

Pay attention to signs that the day center might not be a good fit, such as negative interactions between residents or staff, a lack of engaging activities, safety concerns, or a lack of communication from the center’s staff. If you observe any of these issues, it's important to address them with the center’s management and consider alternative options. Early identification of problems can prevent further difficulties.
