I have been taking my Irish Golden Doodle dog child to Catlynn and Sleepy Hallow for well over a year now. We live downtown and had tried a few different very expensive different places. No one could give him a. it’s cut. He has different hair than a straight doodle bc of the Irish Setter. It’s not as tight so it doesn’t mat unless it’s super long and barely then. He came back full face shaved once, all kinds of embarrassing. My niece recommended Sleepy Hallow. She boards her dogs here.

Catlynn has helped me get River back to his cute authentic self It is also much more affordable for dogs that need more frequent cuts.

Catlynn and the entire staff have been incredibly kind not only to River but to me as well. Going above and beyond to treat us like family.

We highly recommend them and it’s really not far from Bates Hendricks/Garfield Park/Fountain Square area!

There are not a lot of options for cat grooming around Indy but I was recommended Sleepy Hollow by my veterinarian. I had a great experience with their service. I have a long haired cat who was well overdue for some grooming. He had matted fur and they were able to take care of him. He ended up needed a full lion shave but he’s in much better shape now. I appreciated the communication on how the process went. I will return for future cat grooming! Thank you!

I have no clue what they did to my dog. I boarded my pup here for a couple weeks and I was scared to death because of how timid he is. However, when he returned home he was like a new, refreshed dog. He had more confidence and energy. He also picked up some good habits, like laying down while he waits and walking better on leash.

I can’t say enough great things! They put my mind at ease with daily report cards, great communication, and add-on’s they offer. I was able to make sure he got his exercise and treats. You can also bring your pups own toys and belongings, which was great for a pup who needs his emotional support toy.

I also had him groomed before pick up and of course they worked their magic there too. They got him to cooperate somehow and he was soooo soft. Even his little, dry paw pads were all softened up.

I have to say the price scared me a bit, a little too good to be true. I had someone on stand by in case something went wrong. I was unsure my pup would get proper care at their prices, but I stand corrected and blown away! They don’t appear to cut corners. I think they really care about all the fur babies and I plan to use them again! Despite having been to training and doggy day care elsewhere, this is the one place that he came back from as a whole new happy pup

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I have two dogs, with my bigger dog being my “special” boy. He has separation anxiety and can shut down if his routine gets off. I was very nervous boarding my dogs and the staff at Sleepy Hollow did such a great job at easing my anxiety. We boarded them for 9 nights and they took such great care of my boys!! My dogs were happy at pickup and you could tell they were well cared for. The daily report card is a fun touch. Sleepy Hollow allowed us to come tour their facility before booking and that really helped ease my mind. Highly recommend this boarding facility. We will definitely use them the next time we are out of town.

Our huge GSD (105+ lbs and tall) with horrible separation anxiety always loved his time at Sleepy Hollow (usually 2-3 day trips). He could be a handful and very particular about handling, but they always accommodated our sweet boy and welcomed him. If needed, they even reinforce the kennels for strong, determined pups like him. 🙂 We were always so grateful to have a boarder we could trust to keep him safe and happy even through his anxiety! We still recommend them to everyone. Included a video of our big baby. ❤️

Barkefellers has always been my dogs ‘happy place’. She absolutely loves going to play. She also stays there if I go out of town. She does great because she loves to go and play and I do get the package where she plays most of the day. This makes it so easy and familiar for her. The employees also treat her as if she was their own. She also gets groomed there which has also been wonderful !

We love Barkefellers and so do our pets, especially our doggo! We have only used the boarding service, but he is always excited to play with the other dogs and have the staff dote on him. The staff is very caring and provides regular updates they call “Pawgress reports.”

My mini bernedoodle went to daily daycare at the West facility for 7 months before transferring to the South facility recently. He was excited to go every day where I knew he was cared for by a top notch team. We used the grooming services every few months and was very satisfied with that side as well. I like that you can view cameras with access to most areas to give that extra comfort.

I was really nervous leaving my puppy for her first boarding trip. However, everything about Priority Boarding made it a great experience! The daily report cards, knowing they are veterinary owned, and the ease of knowing she had wonderful people taking care of her made it a relaxing trip for me also! Really not enough good things to say! Indy came home happy and I feel much better about her next visit!! With my husband working in racing, it’s important to have a facility I can trust while we are sometimes away on long weekends. This is definitely our go-to from now on!

We reluctantly had to board our two cats for five nights recently, and everything went smoothly. One of them needed regular pills and an inhaler treatment each day and we worried about steep charges for that, but it wasn’t bad at all. The staff was kind and caring, and the condos were very clean and nice. Make sure you bring comfort bedding and toys, because there are none! Our cats aren’t cuddle buddies so it was fine, but if yours are, they aren’t allowed to bunk together. The only thing I would change would be more consistent and thorough “report cards” each day. Overall we were very pleased and happy with Priority Boarding.

Wonderful staff! The establishment is clean and organized. It was clear in all the report cards that our boy was enjoying his time at Priority. I was very impressed with the care and individual attention the staff paid to my puppy. They were very caring and sent me updates and photos of her and how she was doing. I have a large dog who may look intimidating, but he’s truly a big softy—and the team at Priority Boarding treats him like absolute royalty. It’s such a relief to know he’s in good hands when I can’t be with him.

The daily report cards are everything! Getting those updates on how he’s doing, what he’s been up to, and how he’s feeling brings so much peace of mind. You can tell the staff really care, and that means the world to me.

I wouldn’t trust my pup anywhere else. Highly recommend Priority Boarding for anyone who wants their dog to be loved and cared for like family.

The staff is phenomenal. My little guy is very selective about making new friends. He is tiny and takes a little time to feel comfortable around new people. The staff was patient and truly went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable. We had funeral to attend so everyone in the family had to make last minute travel arrangements. Knowing that he was safe and well cared for made life so much easier. They send you update on his daily activity and disposition that includes pictures. I will definitely be using priority boarding again.

We normally use another place to board our dog. But we decided to do a trip that was very last minute and decided to use this place because ours was full. We had a great experience. Our dog seem to be well taken care of and was in good spirits when I picked her up. I appreciated the daily communications including a picture. I do like all the options that they have so the pricing can be based on what you want. I felt the price was very reasonable. I had considered using them before a couple of times and had paid the deposit. But if you cancel within a reasonable amount of time, they will refund your deposit.

I will definitely would be willing to use them again.

We love this PetSuites!! And my rotten boy loves that they have an option for the less socialized dogs so he can still get love/attention from humans. He is always ridiculously excited when it’s daycare day! Photos are from a couple of their “themed party” days.
Thank you all for loving our pets as much as we do!!!
Edit (06-06): I just wanted to say I wish they would use pictures from their facility on the big screen in the lobby. Let people see how happy these dogs are!!

My sweet Indy always comes home happy and beautifully groomed.
She was losing her winter coat and shedding everywhere. Her nails needed trimming, I’m not good at trimming and prefer an expert to do that because she is sensitive about her paws. Whoever was the groomer did an excellent job, and I don’t hear her clattering across the floor. When I retrieved her from PetSuites she was happy, shiny, smelled wonderful and her pretty paws were nice and quiet. I’m sure she appreciated the pedicure! In all the times I’ve taken her there, she has never been traumatized, they have some very understanding groomers that know how to deal with pups with issues. I recommend PetSuites.

TL;DR, they broke my dogs harness, argued about replacing it, then another location charged me $326 five months later for no reason. Cannot recommend.

The service at this location isn’t awful, but there is something lurking within management at this chain that gives me pause. Last time I brought my dog in they broke his harness and waited for me to figure it out at pickup before they said anything. They just put the broken harness on him and I guess expected me not to notice? Then it was a whole rigmarole trying to get them to replace it because they didn’t want to buy the good harness I had as a replacement, they wanted to replace it with something half of the price and not even the same brand; as if this would be acceptable in any other setting where indemnification was required. So that was in January, but last week I’m at scouts and I get a $326 charge from the location in St Charles, Illinois? Nobody was able to explain to me how a location I’ve never been to was able to charge me over $300 for services I didn’t use. I immediately filed a dispute and someone called me back from the location saying they would reverse it, but this shouldn’t have been possible in the first place. Be very careful how you pay for services here.

My dog has been here 3 times. The first time went great, but it was very apparent the next two times that they didn’t give him anything we provided, such as toys and treats. They also apparently didn’t walk him or give him water, as he scrambled to leave both times to immediately use the restroom, and then rushed into the house to drink water. He also is very scared whenever he’s there, which is not a good sign. The tipping point was that I provided meds today, and we told them about it on the phone before dropping him off, told two different employees about it, and then called them when he was supposed to take them to remind them a third time, and they still didn’t give him his meds. We can’t trust bringing him there anymore. The only reason I’m giving it two stars and not one is because Meesha seemed great and truly cares about all of the animals there.

My dog and I had a lengthy consultation with Meesha the groomer who assured me that she could work with my dog who has separation anxiety. Meesha told me during this consultation that she had no problems working with dogs with issues and she could do whatever was needed to make my dog comfortable. Meesha told me that she would assess my dogs needs when she arrived at Pet Suites and none of her needs were met. My dog was thrown in a kennel all day from 9-4:30 I’m not sure if they gave her water or treats. Meesha seemed to omit the fact that we previously discussed my dogs anxiety and allowed her to be last. Meesha rushed through her cut and complained that my dog bit her never saw a bite but, I did see a scratch and a tiny mark around her cuticle area that looked like she picked at her on fingers. charged me a biting fee. Meesha also became belligerent with me when I discuss my dogs actions and the amount of time she kept my dog knowing she has anxiety.
Meesha was very unprofessional I believe she overcharged me because she disclosed to me that she was homeless and her boyfriend broke up with her. Meesha’s actions and demeanor gives Pet Siutes

Just before we get moving in the vehicle, we tell gremlin you wanna go to camp Bow Wow he gets excited he’s wagging his tail and barking and making noises. He cannot wait to get there as we’re driving to the place. He knows where we’re driving too. He’s looking at the window getting more excited he cannot wait to see the doggies in there at the cat Bow Wow. We also say CBW and he knows that too what that meanshe knows how to get to Camp Bow. I figured if he got lost or if if he gets out of my house, he’ll go straight to Camp Bow Wow. He does have a chip and tags
Plus they gave him bath and trim toe nails and did a pretty good job

Camp Bow Wow has been amazing with Lady! She’s always super excited to go to doggy daycare—like full tail-wagging, happy dance excited. I never have to worry when we drop her off, even for longer stays, because I know she’s well taken care of.

One thing I really appreciate is how they’ve helped her come out of her shell. She’s not only more social with other dogs, but she’s also gotten more comfortable around people too. It’s been great to see her grow and become more confident. Couldn’t ask for a better place for our girl!

We took our German Shepherd here at the end of 2023 for training. We had gotten her a few months prior and were struggling with certain behaviors. Mike the trainer was GREAT and taught us how to interact with her!
Recently we were struggling to find a place that would give her a bath. After a poor experience with another place in the community, we thought we’d try calling Camp Bow Wow since our previous experience was so good. Kanoia did a GREAT job with her! We will definitely be regularly returning for grooming services, and likely other services as well! Highly recommend Camp Bow Wow for knowledgeable staff who care about your pets!

It’s a long drive for me, but they’ve always done a good job with my dog Zeus. As you can see from the pics after a recent grooming session – happy and pretty.

Staff are nice. Nice facility. Big area for the dogs to go potty outside before going in and when leaving. They also have a waste station with disposable bags you can use as well to pickup up after your dog. Which you should! Be responsible. Keep things clean for others.

I recommend them.

We always leave our dogs here when we go out of town. They are thorough with their notes about how they did with eating and playing every day. I recently boarded my two Russian Blue kittens from 4/17-4/21. I paid for two connecting condos to provide them as much room as possible, purchased a la carte cuddle time for each kitten for each day of their stay, and I made sure to pack an over abundance of treats and food. My requests were that they be kept together, provided their blanket from home, and spoiled with treats. Here are the things I found to be satisfactory: pricing is reasonable, the facility did not smell bad upon entrance, the kennel and cat condo areas are well lit and there are cat trees available for cats to climb and lounge on. The rest of this review is what I experienced and my recommendations to help improve customer experiences. I had to initiate via text or call for updates. I was not provided any pictures or video of staff interacting with the kittens. Everyday I asked if they had a bm or urinated. During one phone check-in, a staff member told me the times of urination for each kitten. I found this to be odd and decided not to confront the person over the phone. I later asked via text how they would know which kitten did what since they are supposedly housed together. Someone responded there isn’t a good way to tell unless they separated them overnight. I believe I was provided a false report. When I arrived to pick them up, I walked into the cat room where they were and the condo set up was not as I had requested and paid for. My kittens were not provided any comfort items such as their toys or blankets. They were both laying on a dirty cat bed that had poop on it. According to the staff member that helped pack their items, they were provided one Churu. One treat between the two of them for 5 days. There was no reason for them to ration the treats. I packed Churus, dried minnows, Tiki Cat toppers, Tiki Cat baby thrive, Tiki Cat mousse. When I arrived home, they both had bm’s, which looked as if they had been constipated for days. I understand the stress of a new environment can lead to litterbox avoidance. However, my expectation would be that no more than 36 hrs should have passed before veterinary care was engaged. This could have been a life threatening situation. I was left with the impression that my kittens were left in the condo with food and water periodically dumped in. My concern is with this company’s system of providing care and their procedures. There is an opportunity to provide better service. If customers pay for a la carte services, provide proof they are getting what they paid for. No pet parent would ever refuse pictures or videos of their fur babies playing. Staff should proactively provide a daily report on the activities of each fur baby within their care. It is imperative that staff are trained on when to elicit medical care. It is not normal for kittens to not have a bm for more than 2-3 days. I think providing an electronic diary of all feeding times, activities and bm at checkout would be a great addition to the services. Also, investing in scales for the litterboxes will help track the litterbox activities of each cat. I do think there are staff there that actually love cats and dogs. I don’t want this review to come across as I am bashing the entire group. However, this will be the first and last time I board my kittens with this establishment.

My dog loves pet palace. Conveniently located. They always pick up the phone and are excited to help! I’ve tried many kennels and Pet Palace is consistently efficient, friendly, helpful, and pricing is fair. They have a rewards program and offer special time to time.

My dogs LOVE this place. My pups feel comfortable around their staff. I’ve had several of my pets kennel here over the last 6 years and my youngest 2 pups started here about 4 and 2 years ago. I trust this team because my pups trust this team.

I’ve kenneled with them for longer stays and shorter stays and some very graciously on short notice (still gracious). My boys are loved at Five Points Kennels. Photos actually taken and sent to me by Five Points Kennels.

I have been a customer here for about 10 ish years. I can’t love them enough. Grooming is amazing. Day boarding. And overnight boarding. They genuinely care.

1. They cared for my matrix since he was a puppy and when he passed away I felt their sadness too. It was genuine.

2. My 6 year old dog has been there since a puppy and they are great with him and he has seizures.

3. They have loved my new dogs even with their quirks and care so much.

I will continue to recommend and spend my money here.

Staff are always nice and attentive. The place seems very well ran and organized. Also seems really safe for animals.

My only suggestion to get to the 5 stars is to have a camera or monitor to see and / or talk to the dog while they are in the kennel. I have seen a few places with that technology and I think it is cool. I have also seen a few places where you can dispense a treat to them wirelessly. It would be a nice add-on, but I know it is not necessary for everyone, so maybe try it out in a few stalls first.

Once she gets accepted into the playschool for free play, I will give an update as well. I want to reiterate that you can really feel how much the staff cares about the dogs here and how well kept the place is. Despite all of that, I do feel like Lulu was a little mad I took her there for the day. You be the judge if you think I am right about lulus thoughts in the picture give a thumbs up on this post.

This is the second time I’m boarding my dogs here, and I don’t think I’ll ever go anywhere else. I feel so safe leaving my babies here while I’m gone. I’m allowed to call and check up on them, the staff will take pictures and text them to me (see attached), and you can tell everyone who works here is an absolute animal lover. I dropped them off this time, and a couple of the staff remember my dog and had a memory to share from their first visit. Will definitely, definitely be returning.

Our boy Kublai went to playschool here for a few years and LOVED it. We were a bit anxious at first because he wasn’t super social and preferred snuggles and snacks to romping around, but he would drag us to the doors in the morning because he was so excited to go! I truly think he learned to relax more and “be a dog” during his adventures there. The staff knew him by name when he walked in – it was clear that they really loved and cared for him while he was there. We really enjoyed the holiday photos that got sent home and they are even more special now that he has crossed the rainbow bridge. A huge THANK YOU to the staff at FPK for all of the love, care, and snuggles that you gave him over the years. You guys rock ❤️

Clean parking lot, clean entrance, clean front desk and happy clean employees.
Does not “smell” like a lot of kennels. The short time I was there I saw big dogs and little dogs. They treat them all the same. I love it!

We moved to Indy last year and Indy Hound has been our savior! It was so easy to get our pup in their system, and not requiring bookings for daycare means we can drop him off anytime we need to. There’s always been capacity for boarding when we needed it, and we love to keep tabs on our pup via Indy Hound’s hilarious Instagram content.

Once our pup had a medical issue while in Indy Hound’s care, and we were SO impressed with how they handled it, communicating with us and working with our local veterinarian – it erased any doubt that our pup was safe with them. Thanks to the Indy Hound team!

Used the daycare service while we were visiting Indy for a few nights. Prices were easy on the wallet and the staff was really nice! Our 8 year old male Golden Retriever had a blast, he was worn out from all the playing.

I was able to call in while our dog was there and they provided feedback on how he was doing at every check in. They also did a great job with their social media, there were a couple times I was able to capture pictures of our dog playing while he attended daycare during our trip!

I simply can’t say enough good things about Indyhound—it’s the best doggy daycare, hands down! This place holds such a special spot in my heart. My dog means the world to me, and it’s an incredible comfort to know she’s not just safe and secure, but also cherished. The Indyhound team lights up when they see her and celebrates her presence, which means everything to me as a pet parent. Their genuine love for the dogs truly shines through, as they treat each one like their own beloved family member. Thank you, Indyhound, for taking such wonderful care of my precious girl!

My 2 year old Australian Shepherd, Rudy, has been going to daycare here ever since he was a puppy! He is very high energy and the Indy Hound employees know how to wear him out. It is SO nice having a tired pup after a long day of work and school. They also post him on their Instagram story throughout the day, which always makes me feel good seeing him having so much fun in the pool and with the bubble machine!

I absolutely love Indy Hound! My puppy Frankie is a miniature dachshund who’s barely 9lbs. She started going here at a very young age. They told me during her first evaluation, some concerns they had with her. One being she seemed scared, sat on the side, and just didn’t seem to want to be there. They gave me some tips on how I could work with Frankie to help her gain some confidence and enjoy being at daycare. After some work at home I set up another evaluation and they said Frankie was very playful and seemed to be more comfortable! I now bring Frankie to daycare often and she absolutely loves going! I loved how the staff put Frankie first in this situation, and did what was best for her. I was very hesitant with daycare and had a lot of anxiety leaving her. However, Indyhound eased all of my nerves! I love checking the story and seeing Frankie make friends and play all day. The staff is so friendly and would inform me on how she did that day. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with Frankie, and recommend Indyhound to everyone!

Also they have the best seasonal bath scents!!!

Indy Hound has been a god send for this first-time dog owner who decided to get a very energetic pandemic puppy. We’ve been consistently going for a year now, and my Isley absolutely loves it there! The staff is super friendly and I know I’m leaving Isley in good hands.

Also, I love the flexibility they offer for paying as you go (half or full days) or by buying a prepaid package. Super helpful for people like me who have switched from working remotely to going into the office over the past year.

I bring my dog to LD for grooming and an occasional play date. He always looks nice after they’re through. As for the play dates, he’s an only ‘child’ so we think that’s good for him to go hang out with other dogs every once and awhile. Nice place. Clean and well run, good people who seem to genuinely like dogs

Less than impressed with the grooming situation that’s been going on the last few months. We followed our groomer to Lucky Dog from another doggie daycare because she’s always done a phenomenal job with our woolly husky. Now, our dog (that usually takes 3 hours to groom) is taking 8+ hours to groom because of the lack of decent air flow and humidity control in the grooming area at Lucky Dog and management is seemingly ignoring the issue. On really hot days the humidity is up to 70-80% in that room and combined with heat, that can be deadly for dogs. Beyond dangerous for any dog, and especially my woolly husky. Our dog gets groomed monthly and we’ve had to cancel the last 2 appointments and go somewhere new because the grooming environment is dangerous for his health. It upsets me that I’ve had to find someone new to trust with my dog when we’ve been loyal to our groomer for several years because Lucky Dog won’t address the issues in that room.

I love Lucky Dog Retreat and so does my dog! The staff is welcoming and attentive and the facility is very clean. Every time I peep at the webcams in the playrooms, my dog is either playing with friends and having the time of her life, or being loved on by a staff member. I also appreciate that they separate the dogs by size and temperament. Highly recommend!

From the moment I dropped off my anxious pup at Puppy Playground, I sensed a welcoming, well-organized environment. The staff observe leash etiquette, supervise play, and offer updates that feel thoughtful rather than generic. My dog returns home happily tired, with a glossy coat and a wagging tail. The daily routines, enrichment toys, and comfortable rest areas show a commitment to both safety and joy. I appreciate the transparent scheduling and responsive communication.

Even on busy days, Puppy Playground keeps noise at a friendly level, and the climate control makes a big difference for dogs with sensitive ears. My favorite detail is the personalized updates with photos and notes, which feel comforting rather than generic. The spotless facilities and well-matched playgroups create a calm environment, while the team shows genuine warmth toward every pet and owner. I would confidently consider overnight stays when needed.

I’m extremely disappointed in my recent experience at Puppy Playground. I brought my dog in for a grooming appointment, but when I arrived to pick him up, he looked the same as when I dropped him off. I noticed this after paying, of course. He was not groomed.

To make matters worse, the staff had no idea if he had even been groomed—let alone what time it supposedly happened. I watched him on the cameras for most of the day, and during that time, he was out playing. There’s no way he could have been groomed effectively in such a small amount of time. Additionally, no one ever called to let me know he was finished, even though their policy clearly states that the groomer will contact you. I had to reach out myself. Of course the groomer was not around when I picked him up to answer any questions.

When I arrived for the pickup that I initiated, I had to wait at the front entrance for 10 minutes while the front desk worker was out on a break. When she returned, she was snippy, rude and unkind. My dog also came back smelling terrible—worse than when I dropped him off—which is unacceptable after a “grooming” appointment.

After the front desk employee dismissed all of my questions, this individual stated the groomer would call to discuss the following day. That never happened.

What hurts the most is that my dog used to love going here. He’s played several times and has been groomed with professional-level expertise many times in the past. It breaks my heart that I can no longer trust his favorite place with his care. After this experience, I will never bring him back. The lack of communication, professionalism, and basic accountability was unacceptable. Trust and hearts have been broken.

Catalog of services offered by pet sitting in Indianapolis

Legal consultations for pet care businesses

Civil attorneys can provide legal consultations for pet care operations, helping business owners identify risk factors and establish compliant governance. They assess service models, client agreements, and recordkeeping practices to align with state and local regulations in Indianapolis. Through comprehensive guidance, they address contract basics, data privacy, and advertising compliance, ensuring that marketing messages do not make unsupported claims. They may advise on choosing a business structure, such as an LLC, to protect owners’ personal assets and facilitate clearer liability allocation. In addition, they outline incident reporting protocols, crisis management plans, and steps to document client interactions to support defense in potential disputes.

Contract drafting and review for pet sitting agreements

Drafting and reviewing service agreements and cancellation policies is a central function. Civil attorneys ensure terms are clear, enforceable, and balanced, covering the scope of services, schedule expectations, vaccination or health requirements, and access provisions. They draft or review liability waivers and indemnification clauses to allocate risk appropriately, while protecting the client’s interests and the business’s integrity. They also consider fee structures, late payment provisions, refunds, and procedures for emergency situations, so contracts support smooth operations and minimize ambiguity in dispute situations.

Dispute resolution and mediation for client disputes

When disagreements arise, civil attorneys can guide alternative dispute resolution options such as mediation or arbitration. They help draft ADR clauses that fit the business model and local rules, increasing the probability of a quicker, less costly resolution. They can represent parties in mediation to facilitate productive negotiations or in arbitration where the decision is binding. The aim is to resolve contract or service disputes efficiently while preserving working relationships and avoiding courtroom escalation whenever possible.

Liability, personal injury, and insurance claims

Determining liability in incidents involving pets or clients is a core concern. Civil attorneys can assess exposure, review insurance coverage, and coordinate with insurers to handle claims related to property damage, pet injuries, or injuries to people. They help prepare evidence, organize timelines, and advise on settlement strategies or litigation when necessary. Their role includes ensuring that clients understand limits of liability waivers and how coverage interacts with state law in Indiana, as well as helping to document safeguards such as supervision protocols and secure handling of keys and pet records.

Regulatory compliance, licensing, and business formation

Compliance with local ordinances and state statutes is essential. Civil attorneys can advise on business formation options, including LLCs or corporations, to clarify ownership and liability. They review and help obtain required licenses or permits, assess zoning considerations for home-based operations, and ensure that advertising complies with consumer protection laws. They also guide data privacy measures for client records, pet medical information, and payment data, and help draft internal policies that demonstrate due care and accountability.

    Employment law and contractor classification

For pet-sitting teams, understanding employee versus independent contractor classification is critical. Civil attorneys explain the implications of wage and hour rules, payroll withholding, and taxes, and help create compliant independent contractor agreements or employment contracts. They address workplace policies, anti-harassment measures, safety training requirements, and workers’ compensation considerations, ensuring that the business follows applicable laws and reduces the risk of misclassification and related penalties.

Property and real estate matters for home-based pet sitters

Home-based pet sitting operations may intersect with property rules. Civil attorneys can review lease agreements, HOA restrictions, and zoning requirements to confirm whether a home-based service is permissible. They address property liability concerns, neighbor nuisance complaints, and insurance coordination for incidents on the premises. Guidance on signage, business use of the residence, and customer access controls can help maintain compliant, orderly service delivery while respecting neighbors and landlords.

    Debt collection and payment enforcement

When clients fall behind on fees, civil attorneys can advise on demand letters, structured repayment plans, and other strategies to recover payments. They can represent the business in small claims court or coordinate with collection agencies while ensuring compliance with debt collection laws. This service helps maintain cash flow and ensures that services can continue to operate responsibly and legally, with documented efforts and fair treatment of debtors.

Frequently asked questions about pet sitting in Indianapolis

What does a pet sitter do?

Pet sitting involves caring for your animals when you are away. A sitter may visit your home or stay overnight to provide feeding, fresh water, exercise, playtime, and supervision. They also monitor for signs of illness, administer medications if approved, and leave a brief care report with updates and any concerns. In Indianapolis, sitters often confirm availability and maintain a secure plan for keys and access.

How do I choose a pet sitter in Indianapolis?

Start with references from friends, family, or veterinarians, then read reviews and check for credentials. Schedule a meet-and-greet to observe interaction with your pet, ask about availability during your travel dates, and discuss a clear emergency plan and rates.

What credentials should I look for?

Look for CPR and First Aid certification, proof of liability insurance and, if possible, a bond. Check for a background check, valid pet care experience, and references that you can contact to verify trust and reliability.

How much does pet sitting cost in Indianapolis?

Costs vary by visit length, whether you need overnight care, and if holiday periods apply. Typical rates range from $15 to $40 per visit or more, with overnight stays often in the $60 to $100 range. Some sitters charge a minimum for multi-pet households or for extra services like medication administration.

Are pet sitters insured and bonded?

Many reputable sitters carry liability insurance and may be bonded. This protects both you and the sitter in case of accidents or damages. Always ask for proof of coverage and read the policy details so you understand what is covered and what isn’t.

What should I provide for a pet sitting visit?

Prepare a clear set of instructions including your pet’s routine, feeding times and amounts, any medications with dosages, and contact information for your vet and a local emergency contact. Also share details about house access, security requirements, and where to find important items such as food, leashes, and supplies.

How do pet sitters handle emergencies?

In emergencies, a sitter will first contact you and your vet, then follow your documented emergency plan. If needed, they will seek immediate care at the nearest emergency veterinary clinic in Indianapolis and keep you updated with timely notes.

What is the typical daily routine for pets?

A typical day includes feeding, fresh water, a walk or playtime, ample rest, and several short check-ins with your pet to ensure wellness. Sitters often provide a written daily update with photos so you can see how your animal is doing.

    Can pet sitters administer medications?

Many sitters can give medications as directed by you, but this usually requires clear written instructions, the correct dosages, and explicit consent. Some medications (like injections or controlled substances) may need a licensed professional, so confirm before booking.

How far in advance should I book?

Booking as early as possible is wise, especially during peak times such as holidays or school breaks. A 2 to 4 weeks lead time is common, with earlier bookings for holidays. Flexible sitters may still accommodate last-minute needs, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
