This is a must have if you’re visiting Indiana. The longest running steak house in the state. They also have the largest wine selection in the state. The building is historic. They have been there since 1902. Try the only appetizer they have the tiger shrimp cocktail. The steaks are amazing with great flavor and attention to detail. The bean soup is fantastic. The menu is simple. There is nothing bad on it. There is a reason they have been in business so long. Down town Indy has a landmark and it’s St Elmo’s. The atmosphere is upbeat with a great staff to answer all your questions.

Everyone has always told me that you haven’t had a steak until you eat one from St Elmo’s. And there is a lot to be said about that. Although pricey, the steak is top of the line. And they are also known for the best shrimp cocktails. Spicy, but very good and fresh. Also, the navy bean soup was a great surprise! Definitely try this! The location of this restaurant is also great with it being in the heart of downtown Indy. Would I come here again? Yes, but would love for someone else to pick up the tab.

My wife and I are huge Parks and Rec fans. Even our wedding was Parks and Rec theme and I even got to wear my Colts jersey.
So for our 5 year anniversary we wanted to do a weekend in Indy and St Elmo’s was the top of that list.
I called, asked if I could have flowers sent over, day of and they said of course. They were sitting at the table when we sat down.
Everyone that worked there was fantastic and had an upbeat attitude.
Our server was great and took care of us.
Oh the food was excellent too.
You must go at least once.
Carl Busch

Very cool place that came highly recommended as the oldest steakhouse in its original place in Indianapolis. Loved the atmosphere and high-end service. Shrimp cocktail definitely tasty; cocktail sauce very spicy with the horseradish and will clear out your sinuses! Server was very engaging and helpful. Salad was outstanding. Double chocolate mousse pie out of this world. The only disappointment was the steak was not prepared to request and had to be sent back. Maybe we should give more grace, but we expect that a famous steak restaurant would get the steak right. Everything else met or exceeded the mark.
Ann B

A very cool vibe here! We made reservations a few weeks out (recommended!), and the ladies at the hostess stand were very friendly when we checked in.
Jason was our server. Very professional, polite, knowledgeable, and also friendly. Extensive wine list! The Lobster Bisque, Tomahawk Steak and Bourbon Butter cake were each a special part of the experience. It’s a bit noisy, but easy to overlook with all the positives. Oh… the Shrimp Cocktail WILL take your breath away!

I tend not to review chain restaurants, but I really enjoyed our meal at BRU Burger Bar. We had their Portobello Melt and Valencia salad. That had to be one of the best salads I’ve ever had.
I will definitely go back the next time I’m in Indy.
Michael Chang

What an amazing burger! I found out about this place when I was looking through MSN news. They had best places to get a burger in each state. You cannot go wrong with Bru. The burger was so juicy and the fries were unique. They seemed to be battered and then double fried but I am not sure if that is correct. In any case, they were good. The homemade ketchup was insane. Such a great tomato taste. I wish I lived in the area because this would be a great go to place. One thing is for sure, if I am in the area again, I will for sure be stopping in again.

My friends and I recently dined at BRU Burger Bar, and it was a delightful experience. The atmosphere is inviting, with a modern yet cozy decor that makes it perfect for both casual outings. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which added to the overall positive experience.
Let’s take about food:
The highlight, of course, is the burgers. BRU Burger offers a wide variety of creative and gourmet options.
Food:
We ordered a variety of items, including the “Melt Your Face” burger with black bean patty, a turkey burger, a black bean burger, buttermilk fried chicken tenders, onion rings, and BRU fries.
Burgers:
Unfortunately, the burger buns were soggy, which detracted from the overall experience. As fans of spicy food, we were particularly excited about the “Melt Your Face” burger, but it didn’t live up to its name—it wasn’t as spicy as we had hoped.
Sides:
The buttermilk fried chicken tenders were a highlight, crispy and flavorful. The onion rings and BRU fries were also good, adding a nice crunch to our meal.
Value:
Despite the pleasant atmosphere and good service, we felt the cost of the meals was not justified by the taste. The soggy buns and lack of expected spiciness in the “Melt Your Face” burger were disappointing, making it hard to justify the higher prices for what we received.
Overall, BRU Burger Bar has potential, but our specific meal fell short of expectations in both taste and value. With some improvements, it could be a top spot for burger enthusiasts.

From the time we walked in the staff was extremely friendly. The whole restaurant was extremely clean. We sat out on the outdoor Patio and had a couple beers and some appetizers our waiter was extremely nice and very attentive. we needed to kill an hour of Time on Thursday’s this was our first time there but we will definitely be back We found our Thursday spot

When I went, they were fairly busy but I still got seated right away. The place is very nice and very good atmosphere. When I walked in, I was seated right away and the staff were very friendly. I ordered a drink right away and they came out really quick. They have a really good selection of burgers and other food. I ended up choosing the mushroom Swiss burger and it was really good. The burger patty was a good size and was very flavorful. It had a lot of mushrooms, onions and cheese on it as well.
Definitely the best burger place in downtown Indianapolis.

Fantastic restaurant. Right on Mass Ave. They have delicious chicken. If you don’t like fried chicken you shouldn’t be reading this review. Not only do they have the best fried chicken but they have some awesome sides. I recommend the Mac n cheese and Mashed potatoes, although nothing here was bad. They do have a full bar and outdoor seating. As a common proactive on my reviews, they do serve Coca-Cola. If you love fried chicken and want a great atmosphere to eat it in, go here! Fresh how delicious food. You can literally order 4 fried chickens and a coke!
Morgan Colyer

SO GOOD! My husband and I were visiting from out of town and were recommended by two locals. I’m not usually one to try southern food from restaurants, as I’ve only had a few good experiences doing so. The Eagle ended up being our favorite on the list of restaurants we visited during our trip, so much so that we went back the following day. The chicken was fresh and crispy, Mac and cheese was perfectly creamy and cheesy, the greens were the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant, and the shrimp and grits were very tasty. Will absolutely return if we visit again!
Tiaju McCalup

Walking in, the atmosphere already looked great based on the cleanliness of the establishment. The service was great and wasn’t too badgering, and we got our food in a swift manner. The food was hot and delicious when it came out. I got the fried chicken BLT, and it was excellently seasoned and crispy and was overall delicious. The coleslaw was seasoned well but just a little too runny for my personal preferences, but it’s still very good. The only complaint i have is that in the men’s restroom, there was a slight water leak in the stall, but nothing that can’t be fixed
Maverick Cessna

I would recommend this restaurant for below reasons…
1. Good vibe.
2. Small but decent food menu.
3. Good collection of bourbon whiskey and beers (local too)
4. Outside seating place.
5. Sports bar kind of feel.
6. Service is wonderful.
7. Food is good.
8. We ordered spicy chicken dip (it was good), herb chicken sandwich (decent) and half chicken. The half chicken is so good. It’s juicy, well cooked, and has pepper and honey. (If you are into really really spicy food, then you won’t get that spicy level here, even sauce).
Hitro

Here in town for a work conference and was recommended to come here for dinner. Overall, not bad. The food was good. I think I enjoyed the hot honey and the biscuits most. Quartered chicken was better than the chicken sandwich. Shrimp & grits were good to me and drinks were great!

Visited this place today! It was a very pleasing experience. To start, I went with “vacation mode” and ordered The Coco Passion, which was very good not to strong and not too sweet. For an appetizer, I had the chicken nacho… it was OK wasn’t too crazy about it, I’ve had better! For my main dish, I ordered Lobster Garlic noodle… I did enjoy it. However, it was a bit on the salty side. Love the atmosphere! Our waiter was so friendly and knowledgeable. Absolutely recommend this restaurant.
LOLLI Miller

Came here because it’s in walking distance of the stadium and didn’t really know what’s good in town. Glad we chose here. Staff was very friendly, food was delicious, prices were definitely cheaper than my hometown lol, and the atmosphere of the whole place was lively and friendly. Another perk was the bathrooms were pristine cleanliness. Recommend to everyone who is in the area!
Diego Lomeli-Katen

I’ve been to Yard House many times. I was surprised this time by the portion sizes. It’s been a while since I’ve last been but it was definitely quality. The whiskey salmon was sooooo good! A 4 instead of 5 because in the past I haven’t had the best experiences but I’m glad it’s going back up in service and food overall.
Neisha F

I had the whiskey salmon with mashed potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. The weather was cold outside, so I also ordered tomato bisque soup as an appetizer. The soup was delicious. The salmon was good. Appropriate portion size.
Helen Mcknight

We stopped here for dinner. The food was good. The drinks were good but they could have filled more in the high ball glasses. Quality and flavor of food is similar to home. I was not dissatisfied.

Maybe I didn’t order the right thing. The green salsa 2.0/10. The red/orange salsa 3.5. (those are the only two salsas they have) Choriqueso 2.0/10. Carne asada 3.0/10. Caritas 0.001/10. Guacamole 7.5/10.
Both salsas are almost flavorless when compared to good salsas. They are the kind of salsas that would be good for inclusion in a recipe while cooking. The chorizo that they use in the choriqueso isn’t even cooked right. It almost looks like boiled ground beef and is majorly lacking in flavor due to the fact that they did not brown or caramelize it correctly. A good choriqueso has chorizo in it, that has been cooked on a seasoned iron skillet. Or at least a flat top. It has been almost caramelized in its own greese to create a very unique and flavorful maillard reaction. The carne asada was not very flavorful due to lack of maillard reaction and didn’t seem to be properly marinated or seasoned. You really see the same issue with all of their meats, (I tried a bite of the chicken as well because they brought me the wrong thing the first time ) the carnitas, were worst of all. I’m going to include a picture of the carnitas because of how devastatingly awful they were. I tasted one bite of the meat. The rest will be left on the table. Zero crispy bits, liquified or caramelized fat that you’d expect to see with carnitas. The guacamole was tasty. It was simple, flavorful, and I appreciated the texture being more chunky due to the large chunks of avocado left in it. I highly recommend going elsewhere.
For carnitas and carne asada meat, I recommend Don juans by the University of indianapolis (side note, they also have a good whole white fish) their salsa bar is pretty good as well. I would put every salsa in their salsa bar up against both of these salsas and Don Juan’s doesn’t even have my favorite salsas. For best chori queso mi Abuelitos on 31. That’s also the best place to go if you want more of a text mexic’s style food like burritos or quesadillas. Their molcahete is also phenomenal and stands up really well against any traditional mexican joint in the molcahete arena. The best Habanero salsa, right now, goes to pacos tacos on thompson rd beleive it or not. The best green salsa is the restaurant inside the mexican grocery store on hannah ave between 31 and madison. Jury is still out in best salsa de chilli de arbol but that’s my favorite kind of salsa so i’m having a hard time choosing. Long story short don’t even bother with this place it’s no bueno.
Toni Clark I hope you don’t get mad at me because I don’t mean it in a mean way. Everybody experiences flavor differently and there really is no right or wrong. This is just my very strong opinion. I don’t mess around with my Mexican food. It is extremely rare that I don’t take leftovers home and I left most of the food on the table. That’s saying a lot for a fat boy!
Josh Taylor

I have to visit this place every time I come to Indy. The carnitas are AMAZING, especiallywith home made tortillas… the shrimp cocktail gives you a shrimp (or 2) in EVERY single bite… no fishing for shrimp like other places. Atmosphere is great and great customer service all the time.
Germain Zamora

Good prices, very Authentic Mexican grocery store, staff was very helpful and friendly. Recommend speaking Spanish, but most of the staff speak some English. But I had a great time practicing my Spanish, and staff did a great job helping me improve my knowledge, of the language and culture. We came late so the Deli was close and Bakery. So I hope to try that next time. And the Restaurant looked amazing. Hope to try that as well.

Wow!!! This place is amazing not only is it a wonderfully stocked grocery store. This place has a restaurant that will not disappoint. The meat counter is HUGE, grab a ticket and get in line. The selection is amazing and the meat was super fresh. The fruits and veggies looked great also. A superb variety. If you are looking for a specific item… they probably have it.
Now the restaurant, I don’t think you can go wrong with anything in there. I went torta, and man was it on point! The gorditas and sopes were amazing! If you are not into spicy stay away from the salsa! It is good but will light you up! I just wish I lived closer to be able to shop here every week!!!!
Josh B

This place is spectacular. In my fairly extensive experience in Latin markets around the city, this one is the best. Where to begin? Upon walking in, the merchandising is spot on with a glimpse of specials, and a big eyeful of the home made pastries. I continue on through one of the most bountiful produce sections imaginable. The meat counter is stuffed with day to day cuts, ad well as an extensive array of variety meats. All fresh, all custom cut. The grocery shelves are stocked to perfection, and there’s a full service deli. The entire place is immaculately clean and staffed with professionals. A truly great shopping experience. Oh, and there’s a full service restaurant and cantina, which I will save for another outstanding review.

I am from out of town and this restaurant was recommended to me by a local friend. They didn’t steer me wrong.
The service and food were excellent.
If you’re not sure what to get, go with the Managers Special so you can try 2 types of sauce on your pasta. It’s definitely worth a visit.
Kyle McDowell

The atmosphere is really great here. Old school wood with a train car by the entrance. The lasagna was fresh and loved the various sauces. The salad and house bread were nothing special, but I loved the cotton candy drink, and the complementary spumoni was nice at the end.
Jennifer McDowell

We were greeted when we walked in. There wasn’t a wait. It’s a darker vibe in the restaurant. I’ve been wanting to try this spot out for a few years and was super excited just to be DISAPPOINTED. We had the garlic/cheese bread. It was too soft like it could’ve cooked for another 2 minutes or so. The spinach and artichoke dip lacked seasoning. I wished they would’ve buttered the bread. I tried adding crushed red pepper, salt, and pepper. It was still a no for me. He ordered shrimp alfrdedo. The shrimp had a very loud smell , and he couldn’t finish his food. I ordered fettuccine, and it also lacked seasoning. We both ordered strawberry lemonade. I asked for mine to be spiked and had NO IDEA that was going to cost me $21.50 for a drink. Never again. I was not happy at all. The bill was $80 for a bunch of nasty food. I planned on taking the food home to doctor it up because that was expensive and ended up giving it to a homeless man outside. I hope he enjoyed it more than I did. Unfortunately, we had to go somewhere else to eat and spend more money.
R. W.

We had much higher expectations for dinner. The food was mediocre and served warm,
Not hot at all. I’ve honestly had better chicken Marsala at home. We sat down and got our food within 20 minutes which means it’s almost all pre-prepared. If you are looking for a large portion and food that’s good, but not necessarily amazing, then this is for you. If you want really tasty, homemade pasta, this isn’t for you.

This place was such a treat we went twice! The place was dark, but really nice, the waiters, awesome sweet gals and the FOOD, incredible, this place with out a doubt gets the Red hat of approval, a must go to when you visit Indiana.

Harry & Izzy’s is an exceptional dining spot that truly impressed us with its delicious and refined dishes. We started with the seared scallops, which were perfectly cooked—tender, flavorful, and accompanied by a delightful sauce. The sides, especially the creamy mashed potatoes and crisp, seasoned fries, were equally satisfying. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes, and everything we tried was prepared with care and attention to detail. The elegant atmosphere and attentive service made our visit even more enjoyable. It’s a place we’d highly recommend for a memorable meal.

We recently dined here in Harry & Izzy’s during dinner time and had a great experience. The ambiance was lovely, and the restaurant was well-organized even they are packed. The service was fantastic – everything ran smoothly, and our food arrived on time, which made the evening even more enjoyable.
We started with the onion soup and guacamole for appetizers, both of which were absolutely delicious.
For the main course, we ordered the grilled cod and a cheesy pizza. The cod was perfectly cooked – tender, flaky, and seasoned just right. The pizza was equally impressive with a generous amount of cheese and a crispy crust.
To finish the meal, we indulged in the crumble and lemon sorbet for dessert. The creme brûlée was warm and satisfying, while the lemon sorbet was refreshing and the perfect way to end the meal.
Overall, we had a fantastic dining experience and highly recommend this Restaurant Harry & Izzy’s for both the quality of the food and the great service. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent service. Our server was warm and friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, the shrimp cocktail has a serious kick to it so prepare yourself. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and each side was prepared well. The lobster Mac and cheese was creamy, the Brussels sprouts had thick pieces of bacon and the mushrooms were rich. The bread pudding dessert could easily feed 4.
Timothy Torres

We went there for lunch and was exceptional. There was only seating at the bar area, but it was still very nice with high top tables. Pricing is not the faint of heart. A ten ounce filet mignon is around 70 dollars. I went with something a little more conservative, the meatloaf, and it was fantastic. The mashed potatoes we’re out of this world. O, and you can’t go there without getting the shrimp cocktail with cocktail sauce, the best I’ve ever had.
Neil Clayton

Really cool place. Had a great lunch. Had the Legacy, which is fried chicken sliders, side house, and fries.
My wife had the Legacy as well. She got the Filet Mignon, Caesar salad, and Fries.
So. Very. Good. Service was great as well.
Go if you get the chance.

Kuma’s Corner is a must-visit for anyone who loves heavy metal and great food. Located in fountain square, this unique bar has both indoor and outdoor seating options, creating a flexible space that’s perfect for parties of almost any size. Parking can be a little tight, so plan accordingly.
The menu is centered around creative, gourmet burgers and sandwiches, with only a few appetizers but a lot of big flavors. We visited around 4:30 p.m. and were seated right away. Our server greeted us immediately with water and menus, and returned promptly to take our order. After discussing options with them, we decided to try the cheese curds as an appetizer.
For our main courses, my wife ordered the “Iron Maiden Burger,” substituting cheddar cheese, while I went for the “Mastodon Burger.” Each came with fries, which were the perfect accompaniment. The burgers themselves were delicious and unique, though we found the portions quite generous – definitely more than we could finish!
The service was friendly and efficient, the food was outstanding, and the heavy-metal-themed atmosphere added a lot to the experience. Before we left, we ordered two small mac ‘n’ cheese dishes to go, one with chicken and the other with pulled pork. The total came to $82.20 before tip, which felt very fair for such a great meal and excellent service.
Highly recommended if you’re in the mood for an unforgettable burger and a killer vibe!

A unique hole in the wall bar. The food was amazing. Some of the best cheese curds I’ve had and the spicy mayo is a very unique touch that was awesome. The service was friendly and quick. The bar was very clean. A place I’ll definitely be back to. It made for an awesome date night.

10/10 the best place I ate while in Indiana. I got the plague burger, had some of the Mac n cheese with mushrooms and too drink I had a donkey punch and stephen king rules. Everything about this place was great with an awesome classic rock aesthetic, incredibly funny and friendly staff, delicious, fun, and unique foods and both indoor and outdoor seating.

Second time here and the burgers are the best. If your a fan of rock and metal music you will love the band themed burgers. Also the selection of music they where playing was killer, definitely have not heard anything that heavy anywhere else.

Really glad I got to check them out! The burger was good, only wish they toasted my bread and it would have been perfect! The service was really good. I didn’t pay attention to the music much but it was a good atmosphere, no complaints. I would come back.

First thing first, our server Addy (sorry if I misspelled your name!) was the absolute best. If the managers are reading this, you need to keep staff like her.
The food here was very good. Dont expect 100% authentic, but that isn’t a bad thing with the twist that Bakersfield puts into it.
The tacos are about $4.50 so on the pricer side for the size. The Al Pastor was nice, but had more pineapple on it than I would’ve liked. The shrimp taco was my personal favorite.
The Mexican empanadas are filled with cheese & go well with the side sauces. But if you’re only going to get one appetizer, I’d get the short rib queso.
For 2 people, it was pretty loud & dark at night so just keep that in mind if you’re trying to have a nice date. Otherwise, the service & food is worth it!

I haven’t been to Bakersfield in a few years but I always remembered it as excellent food even if it was a little pricy.
We were lucky enough to stop by during happy hour on a Tuesday so all drinks and apps were half price and since it was Tuesday happy hour the tacos were $3. We made out like bandits because of that.
I ordered a strawberry agua Fresca and my dining partner ordered a small margarita because the happy hour one is smaller. She did the Bakersfield classic and enjoyed it. The strawberry Fresca was good but nothing to write home about.
We ordered the poblano taco, the shrimp one and the chicken green one. The poblano is surprisingly spicy so if you can’t handle heat, don’t order it. The shrimp one was a little spicy but the slaw stole the show and was delicious. The chicken was moist and flavorful, creamy from the cheese. I would order all three again.
We also ordered the guac which was seasoned excellently, I added no salt or lime. The rice and beans were equally excellent and were a nice pallet cleanser in between tacos.
Our bill came to about $40 before tip but again it was happy hour. I would absolutely come here again in a weekday when they’re not so busy! We had a great experience.

Pretty underwhelming. My husband and I love tacos and were so excited to try Bakersfield based on the reviews, but were not satisfied wit the food. It was fairly bland and left more to be desired.

This has always been our favorite place to eat for our downtown lunches and dinners. Today we decided to sit at the bar and ordered our original taquitos. The food came out pretty fast and while eating a roach comes crawling from the beer taps on the bar top crawling fast to my plate.
It was the most disgusting thing to see while have a mouth full and I spit out my food.
As we told the bartender she brought the manager and he said calmly he would take care of it.
We walked out pretty disgusted.

This cozy spot on Mass Ave serves up authentic Mexican street cuisine like tacos, tortas, taquitos, and more. They also have some delicious craft cocktails and specialty margaritas that complement every bite. Don’t miss their Cranberry Ginger Margarita, it’s their special for the holiday season and we loved it! Also highly recommend the torta and taquitos if you don’t want tacos; they were both excellent.

Relaxed atmosphere with a mix of tourists and workers sitting down for a good bite. We tried the we tried an item from the breakfast and lunch menu. The croissant French toast is delicious, but the club left much to be desired. The toddlers enjoyed delicious eggs and bacon, but the potatoes were hard. Definitely add the Paloma! Jeff made our dining experience EXTREMELY pleasant. He was professional & pleasant while explaining the menu and checked on us often throughout our meal. I highly recommend for a tasty breakfast when downtown Indianapolis.

The food was very delicious, the only thing we didn’t like was that the waiter came to our table about 10 times to see if we had finished, he didn’t even ask us if we wanted any dessert before bringing us the bill, this is because they want to clear the tables. . They do it to receive new customers waiting and get more tips, but that means they won’t let you have breakfast in peace. My friends and I had to wait about 40 minutes to enter, for them to want to get you out of there quickly is not a good idea for me.

Very delicious cinnamon toast $5.
Great spicy scrambled egg toast.
Good oat latte.
Coffee bar makes it easy.
French toast was excellent too! Not overly sugary.
Extremely efficient and a great breakfast. Food was served fast.

Excellent food. Excellent service. The atmosphere was easygoing. I loved the self-serve complimentary coffee station while we waited for our drinks and meals. Their version of a BLT is awesome! The beer I had was very good too. All the drinks and coffee were good. The chocolate chip cookie i has was a huge surprise. I loved it. Just the right amount of salty sweet. I hope that cookie never leaves the menu. You get a fast food feeling while you are seated in there. Lots of hustle by the staff. Not to take anything away from the excellent service provided. I will definitely eat here the next time I visit Indiana for Fever basketball games.

The experience was great. I’m glad I got to try it as a solo diner.
The space wasn’t too busy and I was seated by the window. The food came out quickly after I ordered it. The server was kind and the food was good — not great. I got the waffle with a side of fruit.
I would come back here again. Probably to try their cinnamon toast.
