Bakersfield Mass Ave

Bakersfield on Mass Ave is one of my favorite spots in Indy! The tacos are consistently fresh and packed with flavor — simple ingredients done really well. The short rib and al pastor are always great choices. For appetizers, the short rib queso is a must. It’s rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing — definitely my go-to starter every time. The vibe is fun and energetic without being overwhelming, making it perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxed date night. Service has always been friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. Definitely a go-to spot on Mass Ave! 🌮

The atmosphere and service were great! The food tasted good, too. Just be aware that the tacos are small, snack-sized. So if you're very hungry, order more tacos than you would usually eat. For the price, I was thinking they would be regular size. I had a cranberry-ginger agua fresca to drink, which was delicious.

Our nephew’s 30th Birthday celebration was held this evening @ Bakersfield in downtown Indy. It was an awesome experience! Ruth, Collette & Kalie were so attentive, gave our group unbelievable service, & made the evening truly special for our family & friends. Thank you Ruth, Collette & Kalie! I hope you made it home safely. We will be back!!

Every time we grab a bite here, we stick to the same tacos (the Baja shrimp are my favorite) and I always order the pineapple margarita. The staff is friendly and chatty—in a good way-but the main reason we keep coming back is the guacamole. We've tried so many places, but we always end up comparing them to this one. It's always fresh, with just the right amount of lime.

Belle is the most amazing server. Such a girls girl and made us all feel so welcome. She took such good care of us and all of our food and drinks came out so quickly. Such amazing service. Love Belle. A million stars for our girl Belle.

Super quick drinks and apps, the tacos are spectacular I could not stop eating them even when my stomach is screaming i’m full. I will always be here I have traveled but i always come back to here!! you should come I’m wearing black socks if you can find me (; #carnitasisbest

My first meal in Indianapolis could not have been better! I don’t even drink alcohol that much and Jen explained every drink in a way that was easy to understand and enjoy and the food was to DIE for. She recommended the guacamole and I was hesitant because I usually don’t like guac but it was so good, just the right amount of saltiness from the salt and freshness from the lime. The tacos I had were not a miss, definitely recommend asking for Jen and definitely recommend Bakersfield!
