Valeria

Bakersfield on Mass Ave is one of my favorite spots in Indy! The tacos are consistently fresh and packed with flavor — simple ingredients done really well. The short rib and al pastor are always great choices. For appetizers, the short rib queso is a must. It’s rich, flavorful, and perfect for sharing — definitely my go-to starter every time. The vibe is fun and energetic without being overwhelming, making it perfect for a casual night out with friends or a relaxed date night. Service has always been friendly and efficient, even when it’s busy. Definitely a go-to spot on Mass Ave! 🌮

The atmosphere and service were great! The food tasted good, too. Just be aware that the tacos are small, snack-sized. So if you're very hungry, order more tacos than you would usually eat. For the price, I was thinking they would be regular size. I had a cranberry-ginger agua fresca to drink, which was delicious.

Our nephew’s 30th Birthday celebration was held this evening @ Bakersfield in downtown Indy. It was an awesome experience! Ruth, Collette & Kalie were so attentive, gave our group unbelievable service, & made the evening truly special for our family & friends. Thank you Ruth, Collette & Kalie! I hope you made it home safely. We will be back!!

Every time we grab a bite here, we stick to the same tacos (the Baja shrimp are my favorite) and I always order the pineapple margarita. The staff is friendly and chatty—in a good way-but the main reason we keep coming back is the guacamole. We've tried so many places, but we always end up comparing them to this one. It's always fresh, with just the right amount of lime.

Belle is the most amazing server. Such a girls girl and made us all feel so welcome. She took such good care of us and all of our food and drinks came out so quickly. Such amazing service. Love Belle. A million stars for our girl Belle.

My first meal in Indianapolis could not have been better! I don’t even drink alcohol that much and Jen explained every drink in a way that was easy to understand and enjoy and the food was to DIE for. She recommended the guacamole and I was hesitant because I usually don’t like guac but it was so good, just the right amount of saltiness from the salt and freshness from the lime. The tacos I had were not a miss, definitely recommend asking for Jen and definitely recommend Bakersfield!

Good traditional carne asada steak taco with onions and cilantro. Plenty of meat and wasn't fatty or gristley. Green salsa was good for me. Red salsa set my lips on 🔥 lol I think one green sauce came with the price of the taco. I had one carne asada taco, 2 green sauces, and one red sauce for $7.15. Unfortunately, I didn't check my bag well and missed out on the lime wrapped in foil on its own before I devoured the whole taco.

I ordered the carnitas and it was delicious. They gave me three lime slices with my meal which always brings out the flavor. The chocolate lava was amazing! Alex was my server and he did a great job.

A wonderful place to get some of the best food in Indianapolis. The carnitas are great. The tongue tacos are always delicious. There is always such great energy inside when visiting. Alot of care and love is evident in the preparation of the food.

I don't live in Indianapolis, but I thought it was a great authentic Mexican food. As soon as I sat down and I saw the menu, I knew it was not authentic. I only ordered 3 steak tacos, and I didn't like them. My expectations were high since I'm from Chicago, where tacos are the best. This is more like texmex food.

The food was sizzling hot. Great prices healthy from God. Earth's table type stuff. The mojito was good too. It was so good. I drank everybody else's. Nothing like day drinking with a bunch of light weights.

If you are looking for good service then I would not recommend coming here. The food was good but nothing to rave about. After being served our food we were only visited by waitress once. After that we didn't get asked if we needed a drink refill or if we needed anything else. The only thing I would go back for is their micheladas.

The mixed seafood ceviche tostada is my absolute favorite. Their rice is really good as well. I appreciate their selection of waters, getting either jamaica when I can or cucumber. I just tried their horchata and highly recommend it, it's like a lighter version of a holiday drink and refreshingly creamy without being thick. I haven't tried anything I haven't liked and it's an enjoyable time.

I wasnt greeted when I walked in but I was greeted at the counter. Great customer service. The bathroom was clean. My food was made to order so it was a small wait. There were chairs available while I waited. I ordered two tacos and a tamale. I live 40m away so I wasnt able to eat the food hot but it was still good.

Service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious. If you want to have your pick of tamales I recommend you go early or call in your order. Definitely a west side little treasure for some great tamales 🫔.

If you want authentic tamales, this is probably your best bet in Indy. They have a large selection of different tamales, with different meats and spice levels. The plates also come with a healthy portion of rice, beans and chips. I found that a single tamale meal was more than enough food for lunch. I tried a chicken tamale which was very flavorful and you could tell it was made fresh. The place itself is on the small side, so you may struggle to find seating at busy times. Service was friendly and the food came out super quickly.

A storefront in a strip mall, the Tamale Place is an interesting location. Inside, order at the counter and it doesn't take long for them to pull your tamales, plate them and you're ready to eat. The current selection is on the board and I chose the "Hot & Spicy Pork" and a "Bean and Rice." A good mix as the hot and spicy was indeed both hot and spicy. It was very helpful to have a regular with some carbs to cut some of that heat. I am not a tamale expert and so I can't say that these were fantastic or that they exceeded expectations. But they were tasty, a big portion and I enjoyed them.

Best tacos I’ve ever had at a sit down Mexican restaurant. The Felipe and barría were favorites. Also the house Margarita was LEGIT, made fresh and not overly sweet. 10/10 recommend for tacos and margaritas!

I ordered the carne asada and it was delicious! Great flavor, especially paired with their red hot sauce. The restaurant is cute and clearly family-run, which gives it a warm, welcoming vibe. We stopped in while craving Mexican food and were really glad we did. Our server was friendly and attentive, and the place was clean overall. The tables are a bit close together, so you can hear nearby conversations, but it didn’t take away from the great experience.

This truly the best Mexican restaurant (in my humble opinion). The food is incredible – don’t sleep on the cauliflower tacos- and the service is top notch. Every time we come back, Brian welcomes us back with a smile and so much warmth. Atmosphere is inviting – do I need to say more? Oh, the queso! 🤤 You won’t be disappointed!

The cocktails and guac are straight 🔥 i got the milanessa de pollo and it was incredible! You have to try the spaghetti! And salsa picante is amazing! And the staff is very nice and the service is exceptional! Our server was the son of the owners. This is a family run business who pride themselves on serving authentic, fresh food.

This was our first and definitely not last time eating at Bugambilias. Everything was delicious, from the guacamole and salsas to the cantaritos and hibiscus margarita. Our server, Michelle, steered me right with the enchiladas poblanas and my husband’s steak poblano was tender and flavorful. We’ll be back soon!

I really hate to do this please note this is for this location only once again this location only the one in Lawrence are close to Lawrence is much better, but I ordered their Camaron la Diabla and their chicken soup that I absolutely am obsessed with but at this time at this location, I’ve got 90% onions 10% shrimp. I’m not complaining. ‘ cause it wasn’t that great my biggest issue and only issue is the soup. It was absolutely to me discussing it smelled a little bit off. I thought it was a cheese, but I don’t think so. What made it even more gross that had tons of tiny chicken bones that made it absolutely horrible to try to push through it so I only able to eat about 5% do yourself a favor go get the chicken soup at the one that’s located by Lawrence. It is absolutely delicious over there and stay clear from ordering these two items from this location. I don’t understand how it can be completely opposite and there’s the same company or am I mistaken someone direct me please

Inside is always great, not a bad seat in the house! I'm always obsessed with the decor. I could find something new every time. Very spread out so I feel like I have space to be with my people! The food was great! We came in for devour and got to try a bit of everything. All of this was only $25!!! For app, entree, and dessert, there may not be a better devour deal! We had the corn wontons, bourbon bacon beignets, chicken elote quesadilla, chili crisp beef tacos, and two dessert tacos. Our service was INCREDIBLE! Shout out Taria!! She was so so sweet and had us cracking up all night! My fiancée has allergies and she was super helpful and careful. We felt very comfortable. I would love to come back, and definitely ask for Taria, she made our night!

My husband and I recently dined at Agave & Rye in Indianapolis for the first time, and we were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly, energetic, and welcoming—setting the tone for a great evening. The vibe of the restaurant was fantastic, with a fun yet laid-back atmosphere. The walls are artistically painted and decorated with vibrant paintings and quirky dog statues scattered throughout, making it a visually engaging space. Plus, the music in the background added the perfect touch to the overall experience. Now, onto the food! We started with the elote, served off the cob but with all the flavors you'd expect—creamy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. It was a delicious way to begin our meal. For my entrée, I had the birria tacos, and they were outstanding. The shredded meat was generous, fresh, and incredibly flavorful, and the consomé for dipping was rich and savory, elevating the whole dish. My husband had the quesadillas with chicken, which were equally tasty—crispy on the outside and filled with perfectly cooked chicken, mac n cheese and bacon. Agave & Rye delivered a memorable experience. I highly recommend for anyone in the area craving delicious Mexican food with a great atmosphere!

I had the greatest experience! I have celiac disease so I called ahead of time, I spoke with Taria. She was AMAZING, she’s the reason I stopped in today made me comfortable about eating out. When we arrived she served my table of 4. She accommodated for everyone at the table we had great drinks and food. Taria mentioned we could sign up and get free queso and chips, so we did that! Overall, we had super great service. My favorite was the Elote and the Strawberry bombshell drink!

I just didn’t like it. The mango salsa was too watery, and the chips were so hard that chewing them required real effort. The tater tots were huge, crispy on the outside, but mushy on the inside, an odd texture that didn’t work for me. The fish taco tasted fishy, which immediately turned me off. My husband shared my sentiments about his food as well. That said, my son and daughter both enjoyed their steak tacos and the fried wontons, so the experience wasn’t a miss for everyone at our table. Overall, it just wasn’t for me, though others may have a different experience depending on what they order.

Ultra flashy vibe. I am not sure if it’s the acoustics, but this place is noisy! Service was medium (I think our server was tired). Tacos are all very inventive, but served almost at room temperature, which is a bit disappointing. The concept is interesting; I get what they were going for here.. overall a 7/10 experience. Prices are fair, especially considering it is located near expensive hotels.

I had very high hopes when I stopped in on my way to Louisville. The service staff was friendly, but they were quite unorganized. The atmosphere was great and the restrooms were clean, which is very important to me. The food, however, was bland at best. The menu sounds amazing but the idea turned out to be gimmicky. I had the kangaroo, the lobster, and the alligator tacos, which all had very catchy names, but lacked any flavor or proteins. The amount of meat was insulting, I mean, 3 2cm of meat on the kangaroo taco, come on. I handed my friend a piece of the meat to taste, which left me with only 2. It turns out that the catch is to load the tacos with Mac n cheese to give the appearance of a hearty meal. The protein is an after-thought, not the highlight. That was the case for all 3 of my tacos. The same was the case for the three that my friend ordered. I had also ordered the Mac n cheese donuts, which were good, but how much Mac n cheese does one person need? Are you getting the theme here? Mac n cheese is the main ingredient. I live in Chicago, so it is unlikely that I will be traveling to Indy anytime soon. Otherwise, I may give them a second shot and order something else. As it stands now, I would not recommend this restaurant based on my single experience.

We tried this place for their unique sounding tacos as we love tacos. We both got a flight of tacos and the carne asada egg rolls. The presentation was beautiful, service was fast and atmosphere was fun however the food was severely lacking especially for the expensive pricing. The meat to topping proportion was about 10% meat and 90% topping. I got about one bite of meat in my tacos. Except on The Becky and it was a single dry and tough chicken tender sitting on top of the taco. It was honestly hard to eat. The carne asada egg rolls sounded amazing but ours was mainly ramen noodles and a few bits of the carne asada so it didn't have any flavor.

During this Wonderful Holiday Season … my beloved Wife and I … accompanied by our darling Daughter and her delightful gentleman friend engaged in an amazing experience at Naptowns … trendy … downtown… cosmopolitan hot spot Piedra! Upon arrival we were promptly greeted … reservations confirmed and immediately seated at our requested booth. The ambiance was spectacular! Our gracious server was informative … knowledgeable and exuded professionalism that exceeded all expectations. Our Seafood appetizer was delicious … Cocktails and dinner were not a disappointment. It was a cherished evening that we all will never forget and look forward to returning soon! Mark and Karen Turner

This was our first time dining here, and we chose it for a very special occasion. Rosaura, our waitress, was warm, kind, and attentive. When we included her in a few of our conversations, she was funny, genuine, and made the experience even more enjoyable. The owner also checked on us several times, which added a thoughtful personal touch. For the most part, the food was good. I would recommend trying some of their more popular dishes. It was a wonderful experience overall, and we’re so glad we celebrated here.

We went on Valentine's Day, for brunch, had a reservation. Place was booked! Very cool spot. Tall ceilings with a fun mish-mash of decor. Excellent music. Service was fantastic. Our server was Hugo. Super responsive and very helpful. Food was fast to come out, but intentionally paced so that we had time to finish our appetizer before the entrees arrived. We got the ceviche, and ordered from the brunch menu. I got a breakfast burrito (basic, I'm sorry), and my wife got the carne a la Mexicana. We finished with the chocoflan, which was half chocolate cake half flan. Everything tasted great, and the ceviche was particularly fantastic to behold when it arrived. Overall, exciting new spot at Bottleworks!

We were in the neighborhood and decided to try out this place on a weekend evening. It was surprisingly very busy and fully booked, however, they were able to get us a table without any prior reservation. Our server YESSICA went above and beyond. She was excellent at explaining the restaurant and its specialties, and she also suggested some great dishes and drinks. She made sure we got what we came for. Overall, the drinks were decent, nicely prepared, and well mixed. However, the food was excellent, freshly prepared, and well presented. The ambiance of the place is somewhat vibrant and very Instagram-worthy. When you go, ask for Yessica for a great experience, she was fantastic even though it was a busy evening for her. Overall, it is a cool place with good food and service.

Hugo was the best server! He was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. It was super busy and he had a huge party he was taking care of, yet as soon as I took my last drink of water he was there filling it. The ceviche and pazole were incredibly flavorful. The steak tasted really good but it was not seared like we prefer. Can’t wait to go back 🔥

From the moment you walk in, this place gives off a modern, upscale vibe ,the chandeliers, statues, and bookcases in the background create such a stunning atmosphere. The second-floor table is perfect for a big party or celebration, offering a great view of the space below. I loved the overall décor; it truly doesn’t feel like you’re dining in Indiana! The noise level was moderate, making it easy to have a conversation and enjoy your evening. The drinks and food were phenomenal ,we tried two appetizers and each had an entrée, and everything was cooked to perfection. From start to finish, it was an incredible experience, and I’ll definitely be coming back. 🍸✨ Also Rosaura was our server and she was so sweet loved her

The esthetics are gorgeous! I had the lamb chops and a couple of drinks. My favorite drink was the verde barrel margarita. Blake was our server and he was phenomenal… super friendly, easy to talk to, patient, kind and overall just great. He also made good recommendations for drinks. Thank you, Blake!

I have never dealt with anything this ridiculous in a restaurant. I asked for a tamarind water with no ice. Then the waiter hit me with the most laughably stupid policy I’ve ever heard: "If you want no ice, we only fill the cup halfway." I honestly thought they were joking. Half the cup? For full price? Because I don’t like ice? Make it make sense. And yes, I had to ask for a separate cup of water because obviously I still wanted a full drink, not their sad little half-cup punishment for daring to prefer my beverage without frozen cubes in it. The whole situation was so absurd I couldn’t even be mad — I just laughed at how pathetic the policy was. On top of that, my daughter’s glass came broken at the top with jagged glass sticking out that was sharp to the touch, which is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Serving drinks in a damaged glass like that is dangerous and careless!!! and honestly just shows how little attention they pay to basic safety. Now for the food it was subpar, nothing special, and nothing more. I’ve eaten at countless places, and never once has any restaurant treated me like this. If you enjoy nonsense rules, being served unsafe–hazardous glassware, and being made to feel like a problem for ordering normally, this is the spot for you. I will never be coming back here again!!!Everyone else should run the other way.

I was there last Sunday at lunch time. I enjoyed their Azabache chimichanga more than any other place that I’ve been. This chimichangas was great with the beef, sautéed onions and green peppers! It was like a great fajita but fried and smothered in queso! YUMMY!

There were 12 of us with only one server😭😭😭… The wait for everyone's order to come out, the forgotten items, or the extra ones added to the tab. She corrected them though. They should've had two servers for that amount of people! FOOD IS DELICIOUS THOUGH!!!

Our family stopped in last night for Valentine's day dinner. The place was PACKED and they did wonderful. It took a little time to get our food, but that was expected with how busy they were. They're always attentive even when they're not busy. Our waitress Aurora was so kind and did an amazing job. She checked on us consistently and assured us our food would be out soon. The atmosphere, food, and the people were outstanding. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant to stop in at. Pictures of the food are from a previous visit.

The ambiance was wonderful. The service wasn't. The hostess led me back to my booth without a word of greeting. The server never came back once my good was delivered and left the check without a thank you it come again. Pretty sad service. The good was very good though. The typical chips and salsa were present. Içed tea was good. Had lunch special number nine: chicken burrito/beef burrito with a side of beans and rice. Followed up with fried ice cream. It you're just hungry for Mexican dishes and don't care about service, then you'll have a great experience.

I've heard good things about this place so I've decided to go and give them a try with my family. Very colorful inside. I ordered the fajita steak taco salad and a large cheese dip. The cheese dip looked like a small and the the fajita taco salad was indeed a large portion and good but there was too much onions in it. I don't know what my mom and brother ordered but they liked it. (Also pictured)

This place is great! They have the absolute best guacamole! The other food is pretty good too. The staff is wonderful. 8 called for a last minute reservation for 20-25 people for a Celebration Of Life. They were able to accommodate us within an hour. Also to have the adequate amount of staff to wait on us. I highly recommend this place ❤️

I had the El Carnitas with the corn tortillas, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, rice, and refried beans. The chips and salsa before the meal was excellent. The chips were light and crisp and the salsa had great flavor. The chunks of pork are nice and moist and not dried out. Very good. I will be back to try other things next time but this ranks right up there for the Carnitas. Excellent!

I had a great experience at Social Cantina in Downtown Indianapolis! I ordered the Baja fish taco and made it a "Social" with cilantro lime rice, black beans, and queso, plus a side of tortilla chips. Everything was incredibly flavorful and absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked, and all the sides complemented it so well. The atmosphere had such a good vibe—we sat at the bar and really enjoyed the energy. Our server, Ivory, was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing.

First time here was on Saturday night. First impression was our hostess she was lovely so kind and very energetic! The decor and environment was very modern. Also our waitress was so attentive and was so personable. Loved her I wish I got her name definitely recommend (she was also a bartender)! Drinks were delicious she can make a killer drink!!! 😋 The one thing that kinda doesn't meet my standards or the same level of wow was the food… the best thing I had was the party nachos! It was delicious with the steak! The other food we had that was good was the shrimp tacos! Then we come to our main courses. The birrirra tacos were salty and burnt tasting. The dipping juice was bland. To day none of what we ordered was authentic at all. It was all very tex-Mex. The chicken enchiladas had what I believed to be canned chicken. I know the difference i believed very much its canned…. but I could be wrong. They had a bad flavor as well almost metallic. We also had the esquites and chips. They were a little off they came with a strange chilli powder that tasted off but it was alright. Then the rice was all 100% pre-made/ minute rice. I mean besides that the waitress saved the night with her wonderful service! We ended up returning the enchiladas to the kitchen and I had shared my birrirra tacos with everyone at the table and we all absolutely loved the nachos!

Last month, I visited the Social Cantina twice! It was that good! I got to try their Jack Frost margarita, which was their margarita of the month. It was delicious. I think I had like three of them. It was only $5, but it still tasted like a high quality cocktail. For the appetizer, I started off with their chips and queso. And let me tell you this was probably the best chips and queso I have ever had. What really sets it off is the chips, because they put tajin on them. Which pairs really nicely with the cheese. Their guacamole is also really fresh and delicious as well. The first time I went, I had the Birria tacos for my entree. They come with a side of rice and beans. I'm not a huge bean person myself, but everything else was delicious. The second time I went I had the Chicken Tinga Quesadilla. I'm not exactly sure what all was in it, but it was very flavorful! I think I liked it better than the tacos. 😋 I honestly can't wait to go back and try some more stuff from their menu. And I hear you can get margarita pitchers to share on Thursdays! 🤯❤️ Also, I feel like this place is definitely a hidden gem. 💎 The two times that I've been there it wasn't crowded at all. But honestly I kind of like that in the restaurant. Sometimes too much noise is a bad thing. 🤷🏽 (P.S. sorry I didn't get pictures of everything I talked about. I was busy eating lol.)

Was here for work. Really liked this spot. Service was fast and easy (though it was a cold night and it was pretty quiet). Enjoyed the nachos and tacos and their drink selection was good (liked the margaritas). It's in a touristy part of town but that doesn't mean the food is bad. Would go back for sure.

I saw this venue on Monday, 10 November, and decided to stop by for lunch on Tuesday, 11 November. They could use a little more assistance at the main door as it took nearly 10 minutes for a recommendation that I sit at the bar after entering the venue. That caveat aside, the food was great and the staff were kind. A nice, well-balanced, filling, and warm meal on a cold day!

Came here for lunch with coworkers while in town for a conference. This place was packed, as the conference was huge, but we were still able to get quickly seated. Our server was decent and friendly. They have a nice menu with several salsas to choose from as well as plenty of tacos too. We started with their salsa sampler, which was a big hit! The tacos we got were pretty good as well. Then finished with churros and those were really nice. Overall, definitely a nice meal was had here!

I have a new food crush, and it is the fried avocado taco. It exceeded my expectations. The pork belly taco was great, too. Stopped by for dinner after the 1:00 Colts game. Not too busy, and dinner was great.
