Ashley Knokey

The mobile bar was a fun experience. Highly recommend for someone who’s never done a mobile bar ride before. Was a great time. The people walking down the street will yell out numbers. Whoever is sitting in the seat with that number will be called on to take a drink. The best number is «7» meaning everyone on the ride has to take a drink. Was worth the money for the experience. Emma was our driver. She was great at keeping the vibe going all night.

My wife and I visited The Hangar before the Colts game and were thoroughly impressed. At $30 a ticket, the value is excellent, especially considering the buffet was much better than your average pregame spread. What really stood out was the service. We saw multiple employees going above and beyond. A young man on the buffet line was a rockstar, constantly replenishing food, answering questions, and keeping the area spotless. The bartenders also did a fantastic job managing the crowd, keeping the line moving quickly despite being slammed. Great food, great energy, and even better service. We will definitely be back!

We recently celebrated my birthday at The Hanger and completed a Handlebar tour. The tour was fun! We reserved a table and gulf simulation are for a few hours. The staff and management was amazing. Our tour guide was great as well. I highly recommend booking and celebrating with The Hanger.

We planned our adventure to the Hangar to celebrate my daughter and her boyfriend’s 21st Birthdays! The entire experience was above all expectations! We went to ride the pedal bar (which was fantastic! So much better than we even thought it would be!) but really enjoyed just hanging in The Hangar! From the moment we arrived Erin, better known as E, was friendly and engaging and so much fun!! We got some phenomenal drinks and those scrumptious Spare Tires to take on our ride! We then pedaled our butts all over the city and stopped at a few hot spots, one I never even knew was there, 16-bit! So fun!! We went down to the bottleworks district and then finally back to the Hangar to Hang! We had more drinks and some Pizza, fried pickles and of course, more fantastic Spare Tires! Those things are so good we would drive back down today to have more for Dinner!! Carlos our bartender and E made the evening a smashing success! We played games, met new people and genuinely loved every minute of it! We cannot recommend this experience enough! Everyone in the group is looking forward to the next experience on the pedal bar and in the mean time we will definitely be back for those Spare Tires!!

My friend and I took part in a Colts pregame tailgate at The Hangar. What a great value for only $30/person. It included 2 drink tickets, unlimited buffet food including pizza, nachos, baked potatoes, and hot dogs, and a ride on the Handlebar to the stadium. There were seats (first come first served) to watch the 1:00 game action, and plenty of activities going on outside. The outside activities also included a great live band. It was quite crowded, but I appreciated the friendliness of the bartenders as they worked their butts off during the party. I would definitely do it again!

We had our work end of year/staff appreciation party at The Hangar and I can’t recommend it enough! The attention to detail was amazing, the staff; all the way from the owner to the GM to the bartenders were outstanding! Our crew had so much fun and so many compliments! We will definitely be back for another party in the future! Thank you all and keep up the outstanding work!

It’s a special place to run, with a great atmosphere. You might come across some duck droppings along the path, so just be mindful and run around them. The scenic views along the way make the run so enjoyable that you forget you’re even tired. For me, one loop is about 4–5 km, which is just the right daily distance.

Passing through Indianapolis and decided to check out the central canal before being on my way. Way more beautiful and clean that I expected. No trash, graffiti, or unsavory elements. Residents walking, or jogging and take it all in like me. I walked pretty far along the canal and enjoyed the relaxation.

These are a few photos of the beatiful architecture that you get to see while walking along the canal. I really, really enjoy my weekly walks that I take along the canal. I do it for my health and peace of mind.

I came across the Canal Walk while visiting Indianapolis and exploring the city on foot. It turned out to be one of the highlights of my stroll — a peaceful, well-designed path that winds along the water right through the heart of downtown. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying the scenery, public art, and shaded areas. I saw people kayaking and even pedaling around in water bikes, which added a fun, active vibe to the otherwise calm surroundings. It’s a perfect route for a mindful walk, with plenty of spots to pause, take photos, or just enjoy the blend of nature and city life. If you’re ever in Indy, it’s absolutely worth checking out.

This river walk seemed cool ! We went on a weekday & it was less crowded. Didn’t feel unsafe. Well maintained, smelled good . Enjoy beautiful city landscape while walking. Wanted to have a boat ride across the canal but boat riding service was temporarily closed .

A peaceful walk along a well kept canal replete with ducks and geese in the middle of the city is quite a treat. I was staying in an adjacent hotel and returned three times for exercise, fresh air and peace. There is an Italian restaurant complete with gondolas for hire and the boatmen give a running commentary on the area they are passing. It’s worth going down to the junction of the canal with White River where manicured lawns and views to the horizon without sight of manmade anything offer some of the glories of nature without the wild danger!

The Indiana Statehouse made for an interesting visit. I was lucky to get a tour from a knowledgeable and friendly guide, and the building is quite impressive. It was cool to be able to see the different chambers of government and appreciate the architecture of the place. The central atrium is also beautiful even though there’s construction going on that’s partially blocking the light. The building is definitely worth a visit for the styling alone.

Among the over 20 state and provincial capitol buildings we’ve toured, Indiana’s is a definite top-tier favorite. Our guided tour was exceptional, largely due to Pat’s excellent knowledge and engaging presentation of both history and government insights—a true credit to the state. The tour provided unique access to areas not open to the public. The grounds are immaculate, adorned with beautiful gardens, statues, and historical markers (though expect some construction on the north side). Inside, the building is monumental, featuring stunning architecture, sculptures, woodwork, stained glass, and skylights. If you’re in Indianapolis, this is a must-visit!

We had a good time walking around the downtown and exploring the capitol. We did a self guided tour and enjoyed the architecture and artwork throughout. The senate and house chambers were no open but looking through the windows they weren’t very impressive. More modern than most Capitols but lacking any character and impressive craftsmanship.

I bought tickets on a whim for something to do while visiting from Michigan and let’s be real who doesn’t love spooky stuff! our guide was Mitchell and he was great! The whole tour was great! I learned a lot of interesting things and we got to walk around downtown and see some really interesting places! This tour was fantastic! One of the best ghost tours I have been on. It was freezing that night so thank you very much for meeting in that cold weather. I took my two kids age 14 and 12 and they stayed engaged and loved it. The tour was very informative and the added EMF reader in addition to the extended tour was well worth it. Thanks for a wonderful spooky ending to our stay in Indiana! FYI for all, this is an outdoor tour so dress appropriately! The extended tour does have a short time indoors for a quick warm up.

There were two tour guides since it was such a large group! The First Gentleman with the top hat was WONDERFUL! He was informative and excited about the tour and came prepared with fun handouts and cards! The second guide was very late and came very unprepared. She did not bring a microphone and was hard to hear. She also informed us at the beginning of the tour we are all taking the extended version «because she didn’t want to walk that far.» We joined the other group with the top hat instead after she said that. But he was amazing and so friendly! Loved all the sights we saw and really enjoyed learning more about a place I’ve been living for almost ten years!

We liked the history parts and the stories. Would prefer the tour to include only Indianapolis downtown spots, instead of the stop to discuss happenings at the Speedway, and the story that was indirectly related to an Indy famous person. Would be good to brief guides a bit more on general Indy facts, and better fact checking for the raceway. E.g., speeds in the 220s, rather than 420s. Should also end the non-bonus tour back at the start.

I’m so glad we booked a trip here. It was an awesome experience. It’s not Italy, but your gondolier makes you feel like it is. Our man Bruno was awesome. He’s an amazing singer. Even though we couldn’t understand what he was singing it was fantastic. He explained what each song meant and also info and history of the canal and surrounding area. The couple we met were really cool and friendly. I totally recommend this to everyone.

If you’re seeking an inspiring and unique way to experience Indianapolis, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is your answer! This trail is a testament to the city’s unique character, offering a glimpse into its hidden gems, from serene parks and vibrant playgrounds to eclectic restaurants and cozy coffee shops. The trail offers a sense of empowerment, allowing you to choose the mode of transportation that suits you best. Whether you decide to conquer the entire 8-mile-long trail or opt for a shorter, more leisurely stroll, like my mom and I did, the choice is yours. We explored the downtown part of the trail, close to the federal building, all the way down to the river trail. It was a short distance, but it was a journey filled with memorable experiences. One of the things I loved about the trail was how many interesting sculptures and pieces of art we saw along the way. Each one had a description and information about the artist, which added to the experience. We also stumbled upon some fantastic restaurants and coffee shops that we probably wouldn’t have found otherwise. Overall, if you’re visiting Indianapolis and looking for a fun and unique way to explore the city, I recommend checking out the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. It’s a gem that’s worth discovering!

Easy way to see the city as a tourist, just follow this paved road by foot or by bike. We did the entire trail (loop + bottleworks district) of 13km by foot, it was a good workout. 2 things to note: 1. You sometimes go around attractions and monuments so good idea to sometimes deviate from the trail otherwise you miss some monuments. For example we deviated to follow the canal at some point which was nicer. 2. Buy some drinks/water beforehand, very little amount of shops on the loop before you get to Bottleworks. Otherwise great idea, more cities should do this!

MTC is a top notch travel company for school bands and choirs. Over the years, my kids have taken 5 trips with MTC. Two trips to Universal Studios, one to Chicago, one to Memphis and one to DC. Each time the communication and planning were excellent. I am always amazed at how well they keep a large group of students on schedule! The most recent trip was to Universal Studios. A large winter storm was expected to impact the route home on the day the group was scheduled to depart. MTC stayed on top of the situation, consulting with a meterologist and communicating with the parents and tour group. A decision was made to depart 4 hours early. Due to this, the tour guide chose to modify the original park schedule, allowing the students the maximum amount of time in the most anticipated park, Epic Universe. I know the students really appreciated this decision as EU is brand new and most students had never been there. On they way home, stops were planned with safety and efficiency in mind. As usual, MTC stayed right on schedule and arrived at the exact time they promised. The group managed to stay ahead of a large, impactful snow and ice storm, every step of the way. I highly recommend MTC for all school bands and choirs!

Above my expectations! Cannot say enough good things about this trip! Very thought out, prepared, and I felt well taken care of. The first hotel was ok, the second got better and the third was wonderful, but nothing that would make the trip less than amazing. Conlin and Sue did a very excellent job at making sure that everyone had the best experience possible. Our tour guides were accommodating and knowledgeable, also funny and personable. The bus drivers were phenomenal. Our trip to Ireland will forever be a core memory. I cannot say enough good things about working with Amanda at Indy Travel Leaders. We hadn’t worked with an agent before, but she has been recommended by a couple friends, so we thought we’d try it out. We will NEVER go on a trip without her help again! In the last 3 years, she’s helped plan 5 trips & we’re getting ready for another one soon & she’s she’s working on ANOTHER two for early next year. She listens to what we want, makes recommendations, & doesn’t try to sway us in a way that she thinks might be best. It’s all about us. A couple of our trips have been complicated with a river cruise & then land tours in Italy after that, & it couldn’t have been more lovely & seamless. All the drivers were where they were supposed to be & on time, the places we stayed were unique & unforgettable. She’s also always on call while we’re traveling if there are any glitches (& we’ve had to take advantage of this a couple times too!) Again, the vacations that Amanda has helped us with have been absolutely fabulous & flights have worked out, & she’s definitely helped us to meet our retirement goals of travel in such a delightful way!

Amanda was awesome in helping us plan our vacation to Antigua. We had this trip planned last year but had to cancal because of illness in our family. Amanda was able to get everything set up for us and did a great job of following up with up leading up to trip. She also followed up after our trip to find out if we had any issues.

We have worked with Courtenay for many of our trips, the most recent being our honeymoon to the Maldives! We reached out to her pretty last minute and she was able to assist us in getting flights and a great package with Kensington Tours very quickly. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Ithaafushi and had Courtenay book us a few excursions and we had an incredible time. She is very knowledgeable about many different destinations, has great connections within the industry, makes herself available for phone calls and questions, and she thinks of all of the little things that you may not think about when planning. Our trips have always been seamless with her help and expertise. Can’t wait for our next adventure to Italy, which she is currently helping us plan right now!

Amanda helped us plan the Hawaiian honeymoon of our dreams! She was incredibly helpful from start to finish, taking into account our sight seeing preferences, resort/hotel vibe, and even crushed it when half the trip had to be replanned due to Mother Nature . We cannot recommend Amanda and her team enough and we hope to plan another trip with her soon!

My wife and I just returned from s cruise with Virgin Voyages in Greece. It was suggested and organized by Courtney and Indy Travel Leaders. The trip and accommodations were well organized and went smoothly. We had multiple transfers that easily got us to our destinations on time. Cortney did an excellent job walking us through each step of the trip before we started which was necessary considering my propensity to misunderstand the details. The Cruise was great with good food, just enough ship activity, well organized excursions, and lots of new experiences. We would recommend Courtney to anyone needing a travel guide. We had an excellent time!

We had such a great experience with this travel agency! Amanda was incredibly patient, kind, passionate, and knowledgeable when it came to planning our very first family cruise! Amanda was able to give us several options, narrowing it down to the perfect vacation. She helped us stay in a range we could afford, while still finding ways to have fun and not worry about anything. She met every need in our family, as some wanted to relax and others wanted to participate in multiple excursions. She knew how to make everyone happy! We trust Amanda, as she has had the privilege to travel the world in order to give great examples for families to create their dream getaways. We are currently planning another trip for our daughter’s Grad School Graduation this Fall!

This is a pretty cool tour, if you like unique places. When you get the chance or if you’re looking for something to do, I’d suggest taking the tour and checking out some Indiana history. Your more than likely gonna enjoy yourself and possibly learn something new. Take your time and soak it in

Pretty neat. Worth a detour. Lots of people I asked about it think it has dead bodies, it is not that type of catacomb. It’s just a really neat brick basement. Currently only open twice a month, likely r/t Covid. Recommend booking in advance, tickets sell out. Note- the portion of the tour through the catacomb is quick. There is no time allotment to take photos. So if you want a photo, make sure to just go ahead get together and take them while your guide is talking.

I just walked and found this tour so I joined. As a visitor, it wasnt as meaningful but it clearly has a lot of history. I would say it ranks higher if you’re a local. Going underneath and seeing stuff like this always fun regardless!

This is a short, very well put together tour of the Indianapolis Catacombs, aka the basement of the old Tomlinson building. Really cool piece of local history with amazing volunteers to guide you. If you’re in the area, it’s a great item on your tour and exploration of the area. Thanks Allie, you were awesome!

I enjoyed the tour. It’s nothing fancy or amazing but it makes me think I’m going in a place not many people even know is there as they are above you.

Frequently asked questions about guided tours in Indianapolis

What types of guided tours are available in Indianapolis?

Indianapolis offers a diverse range of guided tours, catering to various interests. You’ll find tours focused on the city’s historical landmarks, including tours of the Indiana Statehouse, the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument, and the Canal Walk. There are also tours dedicated to sports history, particularly the Indianapolis Racing Foundation and the Indianapolis Colts, as well as architectural tours showcasing the city’s significant buildings and neighborhoods. Food tours are increasingly popular, offering guided explorations of Indianapolis’s culinary scene.

How much do guided tours typically cost?

The cost of a guided tour in Indianapolis can vary considerably. Generally, tours range from approximately $25 to $75 per person, depending on the length of the tour, the type of tour (e.g., a historical walking tour versus a bus tour), and the tour operator. Some tours offer group discounts, so it's always worth asking about group rates. Booking in advance can also sometimes secure a lower price.

What should I wear on a walking tour?

When participating in a walking tour of Indianapolis, it’s recommended to wear comfortable walking shoes. The tours often involve a significant amount of walking, so you’ll want footwear that can handle uneven pavements and potentially sloping areas. Dress in layers, as the weather in Indianapolis can be unpredictable. Consider bringing a rain jacket or umbrella if there’s a chance of rain, and a hat for sun protection.

Are guided tours accessible for people with disabilities?

Accessibility varies depending on the specific tour and the route. Many tours operate on sidewalks and paved areas, which are generally accessible. However, some tours may involve steps or narrow passages. It’s crucial to contact the tour operator in advance to inquire about accessibility features and to determine if the tour is suitable for your specific needs. Some tours offer wheelchair access, but this is not universally available.

How long do guided tours typically last?

The duration of a guided tour in Indianapolis can differ considerably, ranging from about 60 to 180 minutes. Shorter tours may focus on a single landmark or neighborhood, while longer tours will cover a broader area and delve deeper into the city’s history and culture. Consider your time constraints when selecting a tour. Many tours operate on a set schedule.

Do I need to book a guided tour in advance?

While some tour operators offer same-day bookings, it’s strongly recommended to book your tour in advance, especially during peak tourist season or for popular tours. Booking ahead guarantees your spot and allows the tour operator to ensure they have adequate staffing. Online booking platforms are often the easiest way to secure your reservation, and they frequently offer discounts for advance bookings.

What’s included in the cost of a guided tour?

The cost of a guided tour typically includes the services of a knowledgeable guide, who will provide historical context and point out significant features. Some tours include admission fees to museums or attractions, while others do not. It’s essential to confirm what is included in the price before booking, and to clarify any potential additional charges.

Are there any themed guided tours available?

Yes, Indianapolis offers several themed guided tours catering to specific interests. You can find tours dedicated to ghost tours, exploring the city’s haunted history; arts and culture tours, focusing on the city’s creative scene; and even brewery tours, showcasing Indianapolis's growing craft beer industry. Special event tours are also sometimes available for events like the Indy 500.

What’s the best way to find guided tours in Indianapolis?

Several resources are available for finding guided tours in Indianapolis. Online travel agencies offer a wide selection of tours, and local tourism websites provide information about tours operated by local companies. It's also a good idea to search for independent tour operators who may offer more specialized or unique experiences. Check reviews and ratings before making a booking to ensure you're getting a reputable and worthwhile tour.

How do I cancel or reschedule my tour?

The cancellation and rescheduling policies vary depending on the tour operator. It’s essential to carefully review the terms and conditions before booking. Many operators allow cancellations or reschedulings with a notice period, often 24 to 48 hours in advance. Understand any cancellation fees that may apply and retain your booking confirmation as proof of your reservation.
