I’ve been coming to this drive-in my whole life, and it’s pure nostalgia every time. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice showing was a blast—people dressed up, the vibe was electric, and even my grand doggie is always welcome here! Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and memories that keep me coming back.
I absolutely adore this place. I’m 38, from here, and somehow hadn’t been until last year. Holy wow I can’t believe I waited this long. How silly of me. This place rules. So laid back. So well thought out. So reasonably priced. So friendly. Great for groups or solo. Great selection of concessions. You’re allowed to bring your own food but yo, support them. Buy their stuff. It’s way cheaper than normal theaters. Way more variety too. Four screens that always show two or three movies, and they don’t care if you mix and match (switch to another screen after the first movie). Always one price. $12, and if they raise it, fair enough. Tons of space. The worst thing you’ll encounter is some mildly unruly high school kids, but the staff will come thru on a golf cart if they’re too wild. Mostly it’s super chill. Speaking of the golf cart, it will also show up if someone has their headlights on for more than a minute or two but get this, they’re SUPER nice about it and if you can’t figure out how to have sound and make your lights be off (some cars are weird) they carry these opaque panels of material that they will tape over your lights for you. Frickin awesome. They will also jump your car if your battery dies. Smart. This is just a business done right. Whoever makes the rules gives a hoot about movies and drive-ins and the whole experience of it all. This is such a great way to enjoy a movie. I guess you don’t get the crazy sound system that modern theaters have, and planes fly over a fair bit as it’s not too far from the airport, but the picture is amazing and the trade off is well worth it. So much more relaxed than a normal theater. Honestly one of my only complaints is that it’s so pleasant, I tend to have an overly positive bias about the movies I see here. If I saw it at Tibbs, I liked it. So maybe avoid if you’re a critic and need to write harshly about film. So if you have heard about Tubns your whole life but never been, do it. Long live The Tibbs!
DONT watch scary movies here as you will only see half the movie as the screens are not equipped for it. Love the pizza!!! The popcorn tasted a little stale this visit but not in the past. Love watching movies under the stars and $12 for 2 is perfect. They do shut down everything at midnight so use the restroom before then. Overall it’s a summer staple!!
Good food friendly staff with i would’ve brought some lawn chairs and maybe a portable radio with me to hear the movie better from the bed of my truck, but that’s on me, it was a very good experience i injoied my time there
Such a great staff! You can tell the owners care a lot about this place. The food is great, lots of yummy choices. We love The Tibbs!
I had not been to Tibbs since i was a child, but everything seemed exactly as it did then, and it was amazing. I recommend bringing or buying a radio; most cars don't turn off lights even if just in accessory mode, so having a separate one outside of the car worked a lot better. The food was fair, and they had a variety of Midwest favorites. There were the normal movie concessions, but they also had the tenderloin, pizza, burgers, fries, and hot dogs I remember from 30 years ago - and I reveled in them. 🙂 They don't prevent you from bringing in outside food or drink, but what they offer is hot, ready, and still tasty. Everything has a late 70s / early 80s feel, but nothing is run down or worn out. It just feels like a timeless bubble of Americana hidden away. It was a thrill to rediscover it. It is definitely a great way to watch a movie under the stars, and people were respectful and friendly.
Tibbs was wonderful as always. Lovely Autumn evening and the only crowd was at the concession stand. Each screen had Halloween themed movies. We watched the 1943 Phantom of the Opera in 1939, Son of Frankenstein. The fries were hot and fresh. The movies were old and classic. A great night. Another lovely evening at Tibbs. Cool, not too busy. I was pleased they had hot chocolate.
