This is by far one of the best facilities in the Nation! Always clean and every seat has a great view of the competition.

The IU Athletics Center is an impressive, top-tier facility that truly represents the excellence of Indiana University Athletics. Whether you’re attending a game, youth event, campus visit, or athletic program, the center offers a clean, well-organized, and welcoming environment for athletes and families alike. What makes the IU Athletics Center especially family-friendly is how accessible and engaging it is for all ages. The layout is easy to navigate, staff members are helpful and professional, and the atmosphere is energetic yet comfortable for kids, parents, and grandparents. Families can enjoy watching practices, games, or events while feeling safe and included in the experience. The facility reflects IU’s commitment to student-athlete development, featuring modern training areas, well-maintained courts, and a strong sense of school pride. It’s also a great place for young athletes to feel inspired—seeing college-level sports up close can be motivating for kids who love basketball, football, or athletics in general. If you’re visiting campus or supporting IU sports, the IU Athletics Center is a must-see. It’s a place where community, athletics, and family-friendly experiences come together seamlessly.

My first time to visit for the 2024 Swim Masters National competitions. Excellent viewing from the stands. The meets were timed at roughly 2 min intervals in two separate pools. Very nice facilities for spectators and competitors. It was very loud inside but really nicely laid out. There was a large hallway suitable for vendors without overcrowding, and the concession stand moved quickly. Staff were very courteous. I recommend it highly.

Beautiful facility! One of the fastest pools in the world, and is where the USA Swimming Olympic Trials used to be held until 2008. I had the amazing opportunity to swim here back in April 2024 for the TYR CCS National Championship meet! The facility features an 8 lane 50 meter pool that can be divided up into 2 8 lane 25 yard/meter pools via bulkheads, a 7 lane 25 yard diving well with 1 and 3 meter spring boards and 1, 3, 5, 7.5, and 10 meter diving platforms, and a 50 meter training pool that can also be divided into 2 25 meter pools. Definitely the best pool I’ve swam in so far!

Nice facility for swim and dive. They have a concession stand that sells hot dogs as well as various chips and candy. PA system leaves something to be desired, hard to understand, lots of natural light and a very high ceiling. Some chair back seating

Had a great Masters Swimming Spring Nationals Championship! Great facility with ample pool space for 2,500 participants. The competition pool is a salt and chlorine mixture, never seen that before! The facility is well maintained and world class.

A great experience for the Junior Winter Nationals. Parking is a little bit tricky to figure out – look for the Sports garage, behind the building, not the NCAA garage which is what you’ll find if you drive to the right of the building.

The Baxter ymca is phenomenal. The staff is very insightful, kind, professional and helpful. The wellness center and basketball courts are great for adults. The swimming pool is great in the summer and outside basketball court and soccer field is great. It’s great for kids cause they have a lot of programs, daycare, kids night out, and fun activities like summer camp and an interactive game room for kids. Great family atmosphere and gym for the family.

Clean and has a few pieces of equipment that the Lafayette Rd location does not. They also have more mirrors available by cble machines, unlike Lafayette rd. Address. They don’t have an indoor track so you’d have to use treadmill.

I have been a YMCA member for over 3 years, but for the last 2.5 years, I’ve made the Benjamin Harrison YMCA my home base—and I couldn’t be happier. Even though I have another YMCA closer to my house, I happily drive the extra 10 minutes to come here. It is absolutely worth it.For swimmers, this facility is unmatched. They have two fantastic pools: a dedicated lap pool and a separate one for kids and activities. The variety of aquatic programming is incredible, ranging from shallow and deep water aerobics to sensory swimming and even SCUBA!Beyond the pool, the facility is top-notch. The locker rooms and showers are always impeccable. From the moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted by the staff, setting a positive tone for the whole visit. But what truly sets Benjamin Harrison apart is the community. I’ve met so many wonderful people here who are just looking to stay active and healthy. There simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe this organization and location. Highly recommended!

Really nice place to work put and meet people. On the first floor there are two group exercise rooms, a yoga studio and a traing room with heavy bags et cetera. The pool area has a five lane lap pool, another pool for water arobics and child play, a souna and a hot tub. One can reach the pool area thru the men’s, women’s or family locker rooms. Meeting rooms and lounges are also on this floor. A child care facillity is available for the little ones mornings and evenings. The second floor is exciting with lots of windows and fun. Plenty of cardio machines: stair steppers, several forms of elliptical trainers, upright and recumbant cycles, treadmills, etc. Dumbells, barbells, and kettleballs aplenty. Cable and weight machines. Eleven eGYM units that are electronic exercise wonders. Three full sized courts for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, etc. The third floor has a 1/10th mile walking/running track with a view of the courts on the inside a great views of dpwntown Indy outside. Parking is provided for members but can be full in tge early evening. Lilly opens their lot just to the north during these times. The Y is for all, young, old, active, those new to fitness, and everyone in between. Stop by for a visit and be impressed.

I want to love this gym because it’s so close to my house. It’s the best commercial gym near me in my opinion but it needs a lot of work. There is a constant sewer smell on the second floor near the heavy weight area. They prioritize way too many cardio machines over weights. The gym needs more cables, more machines, more dumbbells etc. & less treadmills. There’s like 100 treadmills in there and they are never fully in use. I’m always waiting for a machine. Pool has been closed for weeks (sauna included). I hate that this is my best option in a gym so close to home. It’s okay if you go during hours when no one is there. But any other time good luck getting a decent workout in. On a positive note, staff is great. Add more weights, fix the stink on 2nd floor, & open up the pool/sauna again & we’re golden.

Actually our family has been Y members since 2001. We belong to the Fishers center, and have had the best experience with the classes, staff, various programs. I have made many friends through the Y, including staff. My daughter is a student downtown and began going to the Irsay YMCA in August 2025. She likes the center and offerings, but the parking hassles has made her not wanting to go. She has provided all the documentation the Y needs to avoid being ticketed. Fortunately, the Y erases the charges for these tickets, but it requires her to go to the visit the Y Office every time she visits. It’s hard to believe that this is an acceptable practice at this center. We have received maybe 15 tickets in 4 months, since August ($102 per ticket.) In November, I called the Y to help resolve this and was encouraged to contact Jacob. I left a detailed message for him with a request to call me. It’s now December, and I’m looking at 3 more parking tickets. It seems like the answer is to leave a negative review, as I just noticed that another member with the same issue, received action in doing so.

Nice facilities. Disappointing how much extra a yoga class costs. Yikes. Planet fitness plus an membership at a yoga studio would be cheaper. This place is good if you need a pool and basketball courts.

If you need a reason to join, this location is not the reason. The staff is kind enough, but nothing ever works. The sauna is always closed and when it’s open the hours are super limited. If the pool is closed the sauna is closed. If you stay too long by accident or aren’t registered right by the staff, you get charged for parking – if there is any parking available in the first place. There’s no play place for kids like the others. Other locations serve coffee… Something special… There’s a lot of room for improvement at this location. Every time I go I am disappointed by something. It’s just sad.

I recently joined the Irsay YMCA in Indianapolis. Overall, it’s a good experience with friendly staff and a welcoming environment. I especially like the walking track on the third floor—it’s a great feature and makes workouts more enjoyable. That said, I do wish the gym had more of the most-used machines. At peak times, it can be really tough to get access because they’re often in use. I went today and ended up just giving up because all the machines I needed were taken, and every time I tried to get on one that was free, someone would walk up and take it right before I got there. They really need to expand and add more machines! The equipment could also use more frequent cleaning and dusting to keep things fresh. Additionally, the third-floor walking/jog track can be frustrating because it’s hard to hear your music with headphones on due to the noise from basketball and volleyball games or tournaments happening at the same time. With a few improvements—more machines, better cleaning, and a quieter track—this could easily become one of the best fitness spots in the city.

David Grabstald ☆ 3/5

Good facilities. Please note that guest passes are not available after 8pm even though facility is open till 10pm. Disappointed I drove here and couldn’t pay to work out tonight. (Edit. I’m a member now. Gym is very nice. Would be awesome if the hours were longer on weekends. But I understand that’s not fair to staff)

As both a local business owner and Early Childhood Educator, I couldn’t be more impressed with Healthplex Gym! The facility is spacious, clean, and thoughtfully maintained, with every amenity you could want — from the fitness equipment and pool to group classes and recovery areas. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive, and you can tell they care about creating a welcoming environment for everyone. What stands out most to me is the positive energy and sense of community here. It’s not just a gym; it’s a place that supports balance, health, and connection. As someone who spends her days caring for others, this has quickly become one of my favorite places to recharge and focus on myself. I also love that they offer discounts for educators and essential workers — that shows real appreciation for the people who keep our communities running. Highly recommend Healthplex Gym to anyone looking for a motivating, inclusive space to invest in their wellness! — Akira German Owner & Executive Director, Totly Childcare Inc.

…i cannot begin to detail the warmth you feel when you enter this gym- clean, professional, friendly, and so welcoming- and as a very plus size woman, i never feel judged or ridiculed- it’s just not that environment here- and recently i was linked with a personal trainer named emily, who has truly become a light in a dark and afraid mind- you never know what someone is going thru- and the ‘open arms feel’ you receive when you walk thru these doors is surreal- from the individuals at the desk, to the women in the locker room, to the pool workout instructors, to the staff in the dining area- there’s just (so) much love here- so blessed to have found it! so what are you waiting for?? please go see for yourself ❤️

We recommend Aqua Tots to all our friends and family. We started as soon as possible when baby was born and about a year later our child can grab toys from the bottom of the pool! Aqua Tots instructors do an amazing job of adjusting skill level every time we are there. Some days our child is regressing and they’re able to help us modify swim lessons, and some days they are ready for the next skill level and the instructors can tell each class and will teach us new skills on those days. We learn something new almost every class! They have also been super accommodating with scheduling conflicts so we have never had to miss a class every week. Thank you so much for all you do for our child and helping parents feel confident about teaching their child water safety.

We’ve had an excellent experience in our first 4 weeks of lessons at Livrite Indy. Ms. Tori could not be more in tune with meeting kids where they are and instilling confidence and fun in their experience. Our child loves the water but tends to be tentative about starting class. Once in the water and working one-on-one, it takes no time at all to have her excited to be swimming and ready for the next chance to practice more skills. We couldn’t be more happy with our choice to work with BSS. Thanks!

I just wanted to compliment the instructor that my daughter had today. His name is Jesse. A few months back he filled in at Butler and my daughter had her best performance ever! This time was no different. She takes instruction from Jesse very well. He’s patient, stern, professional and made an effort to make her very comfortable. He boosted her confidence and she did so well today! I’m very grateful for his commitment to his students. I just thought I’d put that out there. I think he’s absolutely amazing! The water temp wasnt bad but could have been a bit warmer along with the air temp. To go on the blue slide you need to be 42″ and if your child is under 9 they must be within arms reach of an adult. The locker rooms were freezing. My kids had a good time but I had no intention on getting in the water knowing my kids are good swimmers.

Heated indoor pool. Waterslides and those showering, fountain features. Most of the water is deep, so not great for toddlers. The shallow area is pelted with water from the fountains so babies can’t really sit and enjoy it :/. Older children would have a lot of fun though.

Front check-in worker literally had his head laying on the front counter fully ASLEEP! No where on website do I find listed that no outside food or presents are allowed in the common food court area. Also, No where listed on facility website do I see the requirement to rent a party room, nor is the rental rate listed. Otherwise, we did enjoy the facility.

So glad they are back open!! Great price! Awesome water slides! A big and a small one. They also have a lap pool and 2 little sprinkler things! During the remodel they took out the hot tub but that’s OK! They are currently allowing 100 people in and they fill pretty fast. Mask are required in common areas and the concession stand is no longer serving hot food. Love this place only complaint is they should have remodeled the locker rooms while they were closed they are very outdated and rusted and the knobs for most of the showers were broken off and only ran cold water.

This was a one & done experience for us. The price is decent, though we weren’t charged what the website says bc it was $22 for 2 adults & 2 kids & the website says $4 kids & $5 for adults, but that is fine (I was offered & did decline my receipt). My actual issue is that their advertised hours were from 12-5pm on the day that we went, but by 4:15 they closed down the 1 water slide they had. There was no mention anywhere online, paper hanging or when we arrived to pay that the water slide closed prior to the pool closing. That might have made a difference in us staying as we did arrive later in the day & my kids mainly wanted to go for the water slide. My other issue was that they had a concession stand & it was open & there was a sign that said «hot food on weekends only» but when my son tried to purchase a pretzel he was told they were out & then when he asked for hot dog he was told that they didn’t have any hot food. Ok, well why do you have a sign saying you have hot food available on the weekends if in fact you truly don’t. I’m guessing the person working it was just too lazy to fix it bc just a few moments later when he talked me into letting me have cotton candy, which I know they had bc we saw several tubs of it stacked up, the employee saw him standing at the counter & then just walked over & without even saying a word to him shut the light off to the stand. It was very rude to say the least, and if you are open until 5, then you should keep everything open until that time or post that certain things will close early. It just wasn’t a pleasant experience & definitely not one that we will be repeating. The other indoor pools in the Indy area (Monon center, Splash Island) provide a better experience & will be where we will stick with going from now on. It was fine to try something new but sometimes staying with what you know & like is the better way to go.

Took my daughter to swim today, and I was charged just to sit and watch my daughter. (9dollars) After swimming 2 laps the incompetence of the lifeguards was apparent. We had 2 wait 30 minutes & there was no communication from life lifeguards or the manager Destiny even after the first 30 minutes. I got up and walked to the front where I spoke with Christian whose’ social skills are ZERO., he was more concerned about his phone than having a conversation. He informed me it was only a routine 30 break. All the while charging other community members to swim. After the first 30 minutes were up I had to engage these incompetent youth for information. I was told it would be another 30 minutes as the level was in decline. We left and attempted to speak with Christian again but His inability to have grown-up conversations and make decisions without someone holding his hand He was buried in other community members not being satisfied with how they were treated. The problem with this facility is the fact that no adults were present, the incompetence of the lifeguards in not doing the chemicals correctly and their lack of ability to communicate effectively show the style of management and their inability to serve the community. Don’t Go Here!

Weight room doesn’t have a ton of machines but its really nice for the price. Front desk people are pleasant. There’s a basketball gym that needs a new floor, hasn’t changed since I came here in my early 20s

Update: Renovations were completed. The large enclosed pool is really nice. There is a water slide on the deeper side. On the shallow side are 2 straight slides into the pool for kids. My only complaint is the air conditioning is on in the dressing rooms. I was cold in there even before I got wet. When you go in there wet & you’ll be freezing. // Krannert pools & building will be closed after May 1, 2022. They will be renovating. A new pool building will be built where the outdoor pool was. The old indoor pool will become a larger weight room. The inside will be closed until at least 12/31/23. The outdoors (lake, playground, picnic areas) will still be open. I don’t think there will be a restroom available.

Love this pool, I come a couple times a week after work to do laps. I guess they’re having some trouble with the chemicals keeping the pH right since this used to be an outdoor facility so if you’re coming from afar you might check their facebook page or call first to see if the pool is open. If it isn’t, the Thatcher pool is only about a mile away!

The new pool setup isn’t ideal for summer fun!! They consider the pool inside/outside because it has 2 garage doors. It does have an outside lounge area to lay out, but it’s not viewable to the indoor pool. They kept the pre-existing pools but just closed it in! They have seat benches inside for the parents. The little slide (vortex) wasn’t open today. It was visibly green on the walls and bottom of the pool. Also, the amount of chlorine is so powerful that we left do to my kids’ eyes swelling. You also have to go into the main building to access the locker rooms , which leads you to the pool from inside(you can No Longer Access the pool from outside)

It’s a Sleepy gym no real energy being conducted at this establishment. They have some equipment and upgraded it recently but got rid of a lot of the good equipment. If your looking for a family experience or classes then the whole facility is for you. If you want a gym I suggest go elsewhere quick.

We visited the JCC Aquatic center for the first time to attend a 2 hour dog dip event. I didn’t get to see the entire center but the aquatic center itself was massive. The water was well maintained and there were pools of different heights starting from 1 all the way to 6 feet. It does look like it gets very busy in summer with all the classes. We had a great time at the center and enjoyed the expansive area which gave us ample privacy as well as a good time for interaction with other guests. I will definitely check out membership and prices for the next season!

We were members of the JCC several years ago and both went early several mornings a week. Our fitness, health and attitudes improved. Then both our jobs required more travel and we let our membership and my fitness lapse. Now we qualify for Silver Sneakers and once again have the whole great facility and its trainers available. Our fitness is much improved. We do two group classes a week with Trainer Jim Gould. He keeps it light-hearted, changes it up, allows people to work to their abilities and has wonderful and varied music selections. (Register early, his classes fill quickly.)

Will never become a member here due to rudeness of front desk guy on 6/11. Horrible attitude and too busy looking at his phone to help. Rolled his eyes when I asked why the website says they offer guest passes but they actually don’t. There are way better options with welcoming front desk people.

Love the JCC – High quality up to date exercise equipment – top notch art, literacy & social awareness programs, great sports instruction (tennis, martial arts, hoops, swimming, the list goes on…) friendly staff, great cafe!

4 out of 5 stars because although we really love the outdoor water park, the inside leaves much to be desired. The JCC is always a clean, minimally-crowded place to workout. They have classes for various age groups & the current construction shows they’re intentional about modernizing and improving the facility. As of mom, the lack of a child-watch program is what separates me from being a full season member vs our annual summer membership only.
