It’s cafeteria style. You grab a tray, move down the line, and order at the counter. Make sure you’re ready to order and know exactly what toppings you want before you get up there so you don’t hold the line up. They take efficiency seriously, and if you’re not ready… you might hear about it. I learned that the hard way after not reading the sign about toppings. That said, the food was really good. The sandwiches are stacked high with a serious amount of meat, the kind where it’s piled on way beyond what you expect. It is a bit pricey. My sandwich came in at over $20, but the portion size and quality made it worth trying. If you’re in Indianapolis and want a classic deli experience with big portions, this place is definitely worth the stop.

Had to try this local favorite as several people recommended it. I ordered two sandwiches as i couldnt decide between the reuben and pastrami. Overall, the restaurant is cafeteria style, wait in line with your tray, ask the busy lady to build your sandwich to order, pick your sides and checkout at the end. This all while the person behind you is glaring holes through you if you so much as ask for clarification on a menu item. The reuben was tasty, saurkraut nicely balanced the meat. Unfortunately, The beef was dry and and the thin slices of meat created an almost gritty texture, if thats the best reuben in Indy, then noted, certainly wasn’t expecting world class deli here anyway. The pastrami was a different story, really flavorful meat piled high. Freshly baked rye bread was delicious. I had to try the mac n cheese, but wish I hadn’t. There was so much salt in that tiny bowl, it was like spoonfuls of sea water. Probably a months worth of sodium between the sandwiches and 3 or 4 bites of the american cheese salt noodles, hard pass. Overall, despite it being fairly reasonable for what you get, i probably wouldn’t go back.

Review for Shapiros in Indianapolis. I got the Rebecca sandwiches for half the meat so I could try multiple sandwiches. I got the Rebecca New York Ruben, unfortunately it had Cole slaw on it instead of sourkrout which was odd and definitely affected the taste. The meat was okay, the rye was a nice buttery flavor as it was toasted. The Corned beef sandwich was also on rye, not toasted. Not as good. Corned beef was as good as the pastrami on the Ruben. I got a half pound of the peppered beef on its own and that was the best meat I had on my visit. Overall good. I think my Ruben was made incorrectly.I was hoping for that sharp saurerkraut bite and was hit with a creamy sweetness of coleslaw. Im genuinely disappointed with this. I get to indianapolis a few times a year. I will try it again and hope for a proper made sandwich. Parking looks like it could be difficult at times.

Shapiro’s is an old-fashioned cafeteria/deli with great food. I was able to get in line (although it wasn’t busy at the time) and get my order in without much trouble, and the staff seemed mostly friendly. My eyes were bigger than my stomach though, so I ended up getting more than I should have. I got a deviled egg, some matzo ball soup, and a chopped liver sandwich. It was all delicious, and the sandwich was especially rich and savory. It’s cool that places like this are still in operation. I’d definitely visit again.

What are pleasant surprise for my first visit to the city of Indianapolis. Luckily I was staying right nearby at towneplace Marriott. Soon as my wife saw that there was a delicate test and she said we had to definitely check it out. It ends up being her family name. We ended up eating there twice on our weekend in Indianapolis. The pastrami on rye also the Reuben on rye are delicious although some may think they’re expensive you get plenty of meat for your money. The secret is they do offer a half size. Half the cost. The key lime pie I thought was fantastic. The deviled eggs were delicious. My wife had matzo ball soup everyday and loved it. She also got chicken salad on a croissant and you can tell the chicken salad was legit. One of our visits we arrived right at opening and we were the first people in line. The second time we went was about around 12:30 pm and we were in line about 40 people deep for about 20 minutes. The line eventually went out the door but it does move pretty fast. We will definitely be back next time we’re in Indianapolis. Shapiro’s is a must go must see place.

The Rueben is as advertised! I’d believe it is the best in the Hoosier state. The pastrami was high quality and the best I can remember. Glad we found this gem of a restaurant on Google Maps. It’s also fun to find local restaurants that have been steadily operating for a long long time… wow since 1905! 🤯🥪🥪🥪🥪😋

Coming from Chicago and Loving Manny’s Delicatessen I was pleasantly surprised with how good the Reuben was. I had never had the New York style Reuben before, and it was amazing. The corn beef, the brisket, the pastrami all of them were excellent. The husband had the fried chicken which was crispy and juicy. Everything was so good. The matzo ball soup is one that tasted like a grandma was in the back and made it. I will definitely be back for more.

Nameless was the perfect choice for my two day meeting event! Carlie walked me through ordering and made sure I was squared away, and Olivia delivered our lunches on time and with a smile. The food was great (we did a burger and chili bar) and the portions were generous and plenty for my team of 70. Thanks again!

I would give them 10 stars if I could!! The staff were so great to work – Carlie was who helped me and she by answered any questions I had, made great suggestions and gave advice when I was uncertain, and super flexible with changes. The food was incredible! We had breakfast tacos (10/10), chili bar (10/10), and Smokey bbq dinner (10/10)! Our catering deliverer was so personable and made sure everything was set out and labeled. She also took the time to answer any questions we had. We were lucky enough for her to deliver all 3 meals. This is my first time using Nameless, and definitely will not be my last. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve gone multiple times and nothing has been wrong with my food, until today I received moldy bread that I did not notice until my sandwhich was halfway eaten. While I received a refund, the old white male manager offered NO apology and did not seem sincere or like he cared at all. Having worked in food service, this is absolutely unacceptable and I’m struggling to understand how a worker did not notice mold to this level. I do not recommend ANYONE to eat here since they can’t even notice when their own bread is severely molded before serving.

Absolutely fantastic I love their food and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere is great. The staff and service and how quick it is that you get your food is wonderful. If I had the money to go here everyday I would most definitely do so… They have a great menu and so much to choose from. And the sweet tea is amazing lemonade is too. Thanks city bbq for serving some of the best damn bbq. I haven’t had any bbq around since my daddy has passed away. He always talked very highly of y’all but never did I get to come try and out with him but now that I have it is my all time#1 favorite bbq place to eat at. Again city bbq thank you your food is so freaking good and very filling.

Great BBQ! We came in today with a huge group from a local event, and took every seat in the place, they opened up all the extra rooms for seating and the food was still ready with minutes of ordering. I was impressed overall, from the great service at the register, the fast food prep, but more more than anything i was amazed at the taste and quality of the food. I’ll be back!

I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant! I ordered the 3 meat Sampler with pulled chicken and double smoked turkey, Mac n cheese and hush puppies. The meats were great and the hush puppies were good but not sure what was up with the Mac n cheese. I threw it in the trash after a few bites. It was soggy and overcooked or something. Fort Wayne experience was always good so figured here in Indy would be the same.

This place is absolutely amazing, the workers are super friendly and very very respectful. The food is absolutely fantastically DELICIOUS. For just $20 2 people are able to eat a wonderful meal and get full on it. You can’t even get full on 20$ at McDonald’s or any fast food restaurant for that matter. Thank you City Bbq for one of the best meals I’ve had in a very very long time. Well worth it I do believe myself ate here 2 nights in a row. And if I have it my way will try and eat here at least once a day

What an interesting place to eat. The old world charm of dark wood and elegant antique furnishings is charmingly played up by soft tunes from the 40s. The railcar in one section of the dining room would likely be popular with kids. The food was mostly good. Lasagna that my husband had was very good. It held its shape even though it was tender, and the sauce was tasty. The chicken Parmesan was rather bland, and while not terrible, it was a bit disappointing. The meals are a good value that included salad or soup and ice cream for dessert. Our server was fast friendly and efficient. All in all it was a great place to eat in the downtown.

01/07/26- We stopped by after a visit to Riley Hospital for Children because our daughter (6) loves the Old Spaghetti Factory. We were seated immediately, and to make for a perfect day, we sat on the trolley 🚋. Our favorite server, April, was on duty. April has been there for a few years, and she’s the best! She’s friendly to all our kids and makes them feel welcome. Today we only had one child. Our daughter immediately asked for sweet tea and macaroni. My wife ordered the meat lasagna, and I ordered the spaghetti Vesuvius. All meals come with bread and butter, so we don’t order appetizers. Besides, it never takes long for our meal to come out. April was busy, but we never felt ignored. She made sure to ask for what we needed when she checked on us. The meals are freshly made and come out hot. All meals come with a side. My wife ordered the salad. My daughter ordered the applesauce and I ordered the minestrone soup. We all enjoyed our meal, followed by the Spumoni ice cream included with the meal. If anyone is going to criticize the restaurant industry, then cook at home 😁 Thank you, April!

Absolutely loved this place, especially the atmosphere! Service was also great and the shrimp fettuccine was delicious! It’s a 3-course meal with salad or soup, entree and an ice cream dessert choice of two flavors. They also bring bread & butter to begin with. I will definitely be coming back.

I popped in looking for a venue for a future company event, and Kile and Katie were absolutely amazing and so accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the space and all the possibilities for events. Even though they had another event, they invited me to come back later in the day. The lighting designer put on various lighting looks for me to see their capabilities, absolutely amazing. The space itself is incredible, and the tour was fantastic. This is definitely the place to host the event of the year, and I really hope I get the chance to do my company event here!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at The Indiana Roof Ballroom, and it was truly the most perfect day. From the start of planning, the IRB team made everything so easy for us. Katie was absolutely amazing to work with. No matter what we asked for, her answer was always, «We can do that.» She was so patient and kind, handling our countless calls and emails with questions, updates, and changes. The level of service for both us and our guests was unmatched and completely delivered on the black-tie experience we envisioned. This place is truly an Indy gem!

We recently had our wedding here, and it was truly the best night ever. Everything ran so beautifully and seamlessly from start to finish. I even received compliments on how calm I was that day, but honestly, how could I not be when every detail was in such capable hands? Our guests have not stopped talking about how stunning the venue was, how great the food was, and how smoothly everything went. No detail went unnoticed. People mentioned the synchronized curtain opening, the spotlighted first dance, the elegant signature cocktail menu, and the efficiency of the bar staff. The «Be Our Guest» entrance by the server team was a total hit and such a memorable touch. The entire evening radiated joy. We wanted our guests to leave thinking it was the best wedding they had ever attended, and thanks to the incredible team, that is exactly what happened. Huge thanks to Kile, Craig, the AV team, and everyone who helped make the night so wonderful.

I competed in a ballroom dance competition to raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital, and this was the venue. It was perfect. Beautiful ambiance, great bar, very convenient to get ready next door in the embassy suites which is directly attached. So no need to go outside. Excellent location for a wedding for the same reasons, your guests can stay and embassy suites and walk right over to the ballroom. It has a sort of Italian filled with the design around the circumference of the roughly circular ballroom.

Dropped in and had the cutest lunch with a friend. The croissant with the egg salad was so layered and beautiful. Egg salad itself was great too – soft, a little creamy and maybe some dill? The ham and cheese quiche was delicious and such a sizable portion, I was shocked! The fruit salad had a good mix and was also generous. Staff was very friendly and welcoming to first-timers. And pricing was great when everywhere else I’m absolutely shocked with costs of dining out. Had a perfect lunch! Looking forward to coming back soon.

What an adorable hidden gem! I have lived in the neighborhood for years and just discovered this place. While waiting for my to go order today, an employee took the time to chat with me, only to find out he was the owner! Such a sweetheart and so personable. Think Panera-esque fast casual but with so much character and better ingredients. The to-go section was incredible! Bakery items, coffee, and a fantastic breakfast and lunch section. I already can’t wait to go back.

This place is a little gem. Line out the door on the Friday that I had lunch there. The service was great. The cashier was very kind- made sure to give me options for topings and add ons . I ordered Turkey Health sandwich and it came with choice of chip, salad or soup. I had chili and added cheese and sour cream on the side – it was fabulous. I ordered a lemonade, add raspberry syrup. I saw they have take and bake items, bulk deli items and a delicious dessert case everyone looked over after they ordered. Yummo. I paid between 15-20 for my lunch. Very fresh

The cashier was incredibly nice and patient. I was unimpressed by their food. Their croissants come highly recommended but in store, it may have been a bad day, but they were not well laminated and the layers were evidently chunky. I got a banana chip muffin and it was underbaked. They sold out of their plain glazed donuts 20 minutes after opening. I don’t really care about service or atmosphere, because at the end of the day I’m here to eat. I may give them another chance down the line but as of right now I can’t recommend them. Prices were reasonable.

Stopped here to grab a quick bite to go, quiche lunch special and a pastry. Quiche was warm and tasty. Eclair was less so, heavy on the filling and the pastry was dense, not flaky. Nevertheless, we would have come back to try something different if the customer service had been better. Nothing in the pastry/cake cases had prices. You have to ask and when we did, we got «um, $6 and something, I think?»Same for the coffee, zero pricing posted. How hard is it to price your products? The items in the freezer cases were on a price sheet that was posted and easy to find. But the cakes, rolls, desserts and coffee had zero pricing. Just irritating to have to get an employee’s attention just to ask «how much?». It seems to me to be a simple fix that most customers expect and would appreciate. Atmosphere was nothing special, but tables were orderly and clean, inside and outside. It appears to be pet friendly outside, as we saw patrons with their furry friends.

Our family absolutely loves this local gem. It’s become our post Holliday Park lunch spot and every one can get something they love. Prices are more than reasonable and the food is fresh and made in house with care. The tables are clean and employees are friendly and authentic. I remember going to places like this growing up; delis and cafes with locally made meals and familiar faces. Unfortunately genuinely great local spots like this are so few and far between now. But Illinois Street Food Emporium has stood the test of time so far and I hope they continue to do so for a very long time.

After standing at the Maitre d’ Station for about fifteen minutes our experience greatly improved upon being seated. We were one of four tables served on the dining side, there was what looked like a company party on the other side (They had nametags on). We were seated by the window and had a beautiful view of the circle. For two people, we had an appetizer, three drinks total, and two steaks with sides, it was comparable to other upscale restaurants in the area. The service was fantastic. The food for me was a 7.5/10, you are paying for the view. For some you are paying for the exclusivity.

Spent my Friday night at a private holiday party at the Skyline Club located on the 36th floor of the One a America Financial building in downtown, Indianapolis. It was quite a view. I’d never seen Monument Circle from that vantage point, and at night, it really breathtaking. Parking was great for a weekend day – just four bucks. The event was great. Catering was superb and professional. Drinks and food were a hit!

I am extremely disappointed with how my reservation was handled. I made a dinner reservation to celebrate my mother’s birthday, which was confirmed and then canceled the same day. I previously held a membership last year for a short period and attempted to cancel it, not realizing I would be required to pay for the remainder of the year. This was not clearly communicated to me at the time. After the reservation was confirmed, I received a call from Lora informing me that I was not allowed to dine at the restaurant due to a balance from a prior membership, even though I was attempting to visit strictly as a restaurant guest. I was told I was not permitted to enter the Skyline Club at all. This was particularly frustrating because I had previously been told by another staff member that I would still be able to dine even without an active membership. The conflicting information and last-minute cancellation felt unprofessional and poorly managed. My mother and I were fully dressed and prepared to celebrate her birthday, only to be left scrambling for alternative plans. Regardless of policy, this situation could have been handled with far better communication, consistency, and courtesy. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression.

Had one of the Devour Indy menus. The salad was excellent and thoughtful. The chicken was dry, almost hard and without substance and flavor. The potatoes were poorly prepared and were surprisingly lumpy. The lemon gremonlata lacked any substance. This was a business dinner and we were the only take in the room, they had a large event. The room looked like a hastily recommissioned storage room. They had a musician serenade us as we were the only two people in the room, which was an odd decision. Overall at best a mediocre experience.

This was my second time visit. Came in for lunch. This place is a gem! Delicious lunch entrees off the menu. A peaceful ambiance up high with stunning views of the city. Courteous and attentive staff. This was the highlight of my trip to Indianapolis.

Devour winter 2026- The food was PHENOMENAL. This was easily the best devour menu skyline has ever offered. Seriously. Delicious. The devour menu IS THREE COURSES FOR $45. And that is a steal. People asked about the 16.5% service fee. So I asked the manager. 100% of that money goes to hourly wait staff. It’s a tip pool/tip sharing system. But the company doesn’t get that money. The hourly staff working at the time gets that money. Period. And it’s on every check, all year. It’s not a devour thing. Tons and tons of restaurants all over the country do this. If you’re thinking about doing Skyline Club – Indianapolis during Devour Indy I would 10/10 recommend it. The mushroom toast? Chefs kiss. Perfection. Amazing. The rump steak? St. Elmo’s quality or better on flavor and execution. And that trilogy chocolate mousse cake? The BEST dessert I’ve ever had on a devour menu. Ever. Eat at Skyline. It’s worthy.

Located on college avenue, which is about 2.7 miles from downtown Indianapolis. This is a must for authentic soul food! Modern, upscale restaurants. I highly recommend this she-crab bisque: creamy crab broth with generous chunks of real crab meat. Their signature dish: 6 hour oxtail dinner. Three large pieces o oxtail vertebrae, so juicy and the meat falls of the bone. I recommend the garlic mashed potatoes and grilled corn side dishes. It comes with a delicious piece of their signature cornbread.

This is a must stop for «downhome» food. My wife and I are here from Houston TX, and decided to try out various restaurants that had the «taste of home». Kountry Kitchen not only met expectations, they far excelled above them. The atmosphere is nice, family oriented and extra clean. The food…absolutely fabulous, the drinks are well prepared and the staff is wonderful. I had the Whiting and my wife had the catfish platter. Do your pallette a favor, and visit this wonderful establishment.

As always, we love a good restaurant and today was no different. We decided to have breakfast at Kountry Kitchen. I have to say, the service started out a little slow and not so friendly but she got better. The food was really good! From the Peach Bellini to my Chicken and Waffle platter to his Oxtail Hash. It was all good. We’ll be back for dinner and a little football soon.

We had the BEST lunch at Kountry Kitchen today, our fav place while visiting Indianapolis. The food was incredible, and our server was friendly and attentive. We enjoyed it all, but the shrimp & grits were especially excellent!

Just had our first visit and wow, what an experience! 🤩 Started off with the Soul Rolls, and they were seriously next-level good. 💯 Then we dove into the Beef Manhattan and a combo plate – so much deliciousness! 🤤 I’m already planning my next trip back! All I can say is, WOW! I placed my order with Jeanette (who is lovely to work with!) a few days before I had to feed 75 employees. Not only did she make it super easy to place the order, but she came in clutch with the amazing food! Delivery was on time, they assisted with setting up, and my employees raved about it and took home tons of leftovers. I ordered for 75, and there was way too much food, so we will be serving it again tomorrow. Keep that in mind when you order. Excellent experience, 10/10 would highly recommend!

Calamari on point! Overall a fantastic experience. We sat down without wait (very surprising). Our server was excellent. portions were huge, every entree comes w salad, bread, green beans, potatoes. Only gripe is the beer list. Not much to choose from outside of Sun King. Entertainment by Dancing Greek lady 💃🏻. Awesome date night, we can’t wait to go back.

Food was delicious! Service was a little slow. Possibly understaffed for a Friday night. I can’t recommend either house drink. If ordering from the bar you stick to wine or beer.

We recently had the pleasure of having Santorini Greek Kitchen cater our meeting, and it was an absolute hit! From start to finish, the experience was seamless and impressive. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, showcasing authentic Greek flavors with every dish. The spread included a variety of options that pleased both meat lovers and vegetarians alike. Highlights included their juicy chicken and veggies, flavorful gyro meat, and a fresh, vibrant Greek salad. The tzatziki was a crowd favorite, with just the right amount of tang and creaminess. Everything was perfectly seasoned, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. And don’t forget the baklava 👏🏼👏🏼 The catering team was punctual for delivery and professional, setting up quickly and efficiently. They even provided all the necessary utensils, napkins, and condiments, which made the whole process worry-free. Additionally, the portions were generous, ensuring that everyone left satisfied. My only regret is we didn’t ask for TO GO boxes! Overall, Santorini Greek Kitchen exceeded our expectations, and we’ll definitely be calling them again for future events. Highly recommended for anyone looking to bring authentic and flavorful Greek cuisine to their next gathering!

Ordered the «to-go family pack combo» meal for 4 special ($50) they advertised via Facebook. They prefer people call in their orders – very responsive that way. I called in around noon for a dinner order that same day. We ordered the gyro entree which comes with a giant portion of Greek salad, green beans or potatoes, plenty of pita and a very generous portion of baklava. Their tsaziki sauce is amazing – we put it on everything. Pro tip, we think the baklava tastes better refrigerated. When we picked it up, everything was packaged really well and all came in a large box which was convenient for hauling back that much food. Excited to try the chicken souvlaki and the well renowned potatoes next time!

Service was fabulous, food is excellent and more than worth every penny. Place is very clean. My suggestion for the establishment would be to invest in better silverware and update restrooms. Will certainly return!

We had a great experience at The Grub House! The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. They even had kids’ meals, which made it easy for our whole family. I really appreciated that they accommodated my gluten allergy without any issue. Most people seemed to grab their food to go, but since we’re from out of town, we stayed and ate there—and we’re so glad we did. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, which made the visit even better. Highly recommend!

Wonderful establishment. I was in town attending the BIG 10 tourament and came across this restaurant. They provided great customer service, and was very friendly. The menu had a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. We went in the morning and got pancakes, turkey bacon, vegan crossiant sandwich, grits, potatoes and the cinnamon biscuits with apple butter. We decided to eat inside. All of our food was excellent!! Highly recommended and will definitely come back next time we are in Indianapolis.

I am sorry to leave this review but I have to be honest. I don’t want any food but I wish I could get a refund. The lady at the front was very pleasant so much I left a 5 dollar tip and you all can keep it based off her service. The food however was not good. The salmon Patties were so nasty I couldn’t finish them I have two left and one went in the trash it taste like dog food. The rice had butter but no flavor at all and the hone made potatoes were nasty and taste like ketchup were infused in them. The fish did have flavor but taste like salt only and ran my pressure up sky high. It was not what I was looking for it was so bad I went back out at 10 sum at night to the shrimp hut to get my fish fir my cravings. I am sorry to say it was much better but I am upset because with me spending money here and at the shrimp hut I spent over 40 dollars just to have a decent fish meal. I would not return it may not be nasty but it is not to my liking but to each their own. Of you are reading this no I don’t want another meal I want my money back. Yourself and me can contact my bank and we can correct this issue because I will definitely be in touch with them to see if they will reach out because I know you all will want to argue and not fix this.

Grub Hub is my new go to for breakfast anytime! As you walk in you are greeted by the staff. The owner is a beautiful spirit and her energy is so warm and welcoming. The vegan breakfast sandwich was amazingly delicious! I switched out for a croissant over the bagel. It came toasted and buttery! The grits were just right and fried potatoes were perfect. Overall experience is 10+! Thank you and I will be back!

Frequently asked questions about catering services in Indianapolis

What types of catering services are typically available in Indianapolis?

Catering services in Indianapolis offer a wide array of options, ranging from buffet-style meals for large events to plated dinners for more formal occasions. Many companies specialize in corporate catering, while others focus on private parties, weddings, or non-profit events. Understanding the different service models – such as drop-off, full-service, or hybrid – is a crucial first step.

How far in advance should I book a catering service?

Booking a catering service well in advance is highly recommended, particularly for popular dates or larger events. Ideally, you should start your search and secure a caterer at least 3-6 months before your event. This allows the caterer to ensure availability of staff, ingredients, and equipment. Last-minute bookings often come with limited options and potentially higher prices.

What factors influence the cost of a catering service?

The cost of a catering service in Indianapolis is influenced by several key factors, including the number of guests, the menu selection (including alcohol), the service style (e.g., full-service with servers vs. drop-off), the location, and the duration of the event. It’s important to obtain a detailed quote that outlines all associated expenses, including set-up, service, and cleanup.

What type of menus do Indianapolis caterers typically offer?

Indianapolis caterers offer a diverse range of menus to suit various tastes and budgets. You’ll commonly find options ranging from classic American cuisine and Italian fare to more specialized menus such as Mediterranean, Asian fusion, or vegan/vegetarian options. Many caterers offer custom menu creation to tailor the event to your specific needs and preferences.

What equipment does a caterer provide?

The equipment provided by a caterer will depend on the service model and the event’s requirements. Typically, a caterer will supply tables, chairs, linens, serving dishes, cutlery, and glassware. For events requiring specialized equipment like warming cabinets or chafing dishes, it's essential to confirm with the caterer in advance. Some caterers also provide bartending services with necessary equipment.

What are the insurance requirements for a catering company?

Reputable catering companies in Indianapolis will carry appropriate liability insurance to protect themselves and their clients. Confirming that the caterer has valid general liability insurance is crucial. They should also have food safety certifications and adhere to all local health regulations. Requesting proof of insurance is a standard practice.

What is included in a "full-service" catering arrangement?

A "full-service" catering arrangement typically encompasses all aspects of the event, including menu selection, food preparation, serving staff, table and chair setup, linen rental, and event cleanup. This is usually the most comprehensive – and therefore the most expensive – option, offering a hassle-free experience for the client.

How do caterers handle dietary restrictions and allergies?

Professional Indianapolis caterers understand the importance of accommodating dietary restrictions and allergies. They should have a process for accurately collecting information about guest preferences and allergies prior to the event. It’s crucial to communicate all specific needs clearly to the caterer to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. They should be able to offer alternative dishes and take precautions to avoid cross-contamination.

What are the regulations regarding food safety for caterers in Indianapolis?

Catering services in Indianapolis operate under strict food safety regulations set by the local health department. Caterers must adhere to guidelines regarding food storage, preparation, and service to ensure food is handled safely and prevent foodborne illnesses. Confirming that the caterer holds valid food handler certifications and operates in a compliant manner is essential.

What is the typical timeframe for a catering service setup and breakdown?

The timeframe for a catering service setup and breakdown varies depending on the event's scale and complexity. Generally, setup can take anywhere from 2-4 hours prior to the event, allowing time for equipment placement and food preparation. Breakdown, which includes cleanup, typically takes 1-2 hours following the event, ensuring the venue is left in its original condition. Clear communication with the caterer regarding timelines is crucial.
