This is a very nice pet store to go to. They have lots to look at and even a cool aquatic area, dog area, and even cats. We’ve bought a leopard gecko from here a few months back, and it’s really healthy and no issues with the pet. They are more on the expensive side of things but ultimately a great store. They do sell live worms and crickets as well.

Honestly one of the absolute worst uncle bills I’ve ever been in, the aquarium area, better than most but the small pet section, horrible! I was offering to buy one of the guinea pigs out of a pair that was surrendered (a unfixed male and a female) in which the male was constantly in a sense raping the other guinea pig and ripping her hair out and making her bleed. I insisted it would be fine and they shouldn’t be together either way and I was told countless times they were a bonded pair and cannot be separated (a lie) I’ve had guinea pigs for years since I was 12 (photo proof of my setup for Guinea pigs) absolutely horrible I even offered to pay the full price. I will be spreading this to absolutely any platform I have available. Ontop of that the dogs are constantly in their own feces this has been a common problem with this pet store.

Uncle Bills is truly amazing! I walked into the fish department about 2 years ago for some help getting set up for my first Betta fish ever. With the help of basically the entire fish department, I went from my single Betta tank to currently having a 30, 25, and 15 gallon tanks. All my tanks have great substrate, real plants, great lighting, and most importantly… I have beautiful and healthy fish! I knew nothing when I started and Caleb as well as the rest of the staff have put up with me coming in sometimes twice a week for the past 2 years. They literally taught me everything I know and they were there every step of the way! I never leave reviews but these guys deserve the recognition! Trust me, go see Caleb and the team at uncle bills! You won’t be disappointed!

Went in to the store on 6/19/25.
I was looking at the lizards when I saw a reptile (maybe a young iguana?) in a mesh bag left unattended on the edge of one of the large open aquariums. While I was watching it, they crawled into the open water and was clearly struggling. I plucked him out of the water and put him back on the edge. I found the employee that was in the area standing in the corner talking to another guy (either a friend or another employee I couldn’t quite tell.) I told him what just happened and he didn’t seem to care and was snarky about it. The guy put the poor lizard in a plastic tub and a little while later told me, “This is the one you saved. Want him?” In a rude tone. Again, while he was yapping to this other dude.
Clearly, he didn’t care that his lack of responsibility and basic respect for the life of these creatures could mean their death. I was so astonished by how poorly he handled it that I didn’t even process how condescending he was being.
The lives of these small animals mean something to compassionate people. If bums like that are who I’m supporting when I purchase something in here, then I’d rather go anywhere else. And I recommend you do too if you care about the treatment of animals.

Do not buy anything from there!! I spent 200 dollars on koi fish there. The next day they died. I thought it was my pond so I emptied it cleaned it all up. Done everything I was suppose to. Checked the water and everything. I went back and bought 200 more of them and they died the next day again. I noticed when I went back the second time that it was all different fish. I think some of their fish was sick. $400.00 down the drain because they said they don’t Guarantee there fish!!! They replied and gave me a email that didn’t even work!!!!

I make the drive to Indy to purchase their special blend of hay. The bunnies are very healthy and doing great with this as their primary feed. No problems with weird weeds and other questionable plant matter, unlike some of the big brands. The volunteers at IHRS are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I got my bunny here 8 years ago, he was cage free and my best friend for so long. He passed due to an unknown enlarged heart and I miss him like crazy. Indiana house rabbit society helped me with questions I had and gave me my best friend and 8 years of glorious bunny-loving-memories. They are a great resource for house rabbits and responsible house rabbit lovers. Keep in mind please they are very high maintenance pets, not a first pet for a child. They are very costly and aren’t similar to a cat or dog. ♥️

I tried emailing this business and calling because I had found a rabbit that was abandoned. I did not have the means to take care of it and it ended up passing away today. I tried contacting multiple places and each one referred me to this business. Because of these people a rabbit is dead! This is horrid behavior and I’ll make sure others know about this business and how they act towards animals.

This is probably the best Uncle Bill’s ive seen. It is extremely clean and while I was there I saw employees actively taking care of the hamster enclosures. The fish tanks all looked well kept. The staff that I had to interact with were kind as well and seemed to care about their job.

Warehouse sized store, filled mostly with pet supplies, but also some animals for sale, too: puppies; parrots and parakeets; rabbits; snakes, lizards, turtles, and other reptiles; and fish.
The only “cheap” dog food seemed to be Pedigree in a 44 lb bag. Everything else seemed to be more premium brands, several times that price per unit of weight.

Uncle Bill’s is a decent pet store, but when it comes to birds, the selection is really limited. They mostly have cockatiels and those common green parrots, but not much else. I wish they would stock more variety, like diamond doves or other types of doves and unique birds. It would make the store more interesting for bird lovers looking for something different.

I lived at the avenue for four years, and with each passing year, the complex got worse.
– The leasing office staff that work here are incompetent. They do not care about helping you.
– The maintenance staff are lazy, and not qualified to do even the most basic repairs. Our AC was broken for months during the summer, and maintenance reported there was “no issue”. We had to fight with management to get an outside company to come in – who confirmed we needed a whole new system installed.
– The amenities are basically non existent. The pool was GREEN last summer, and was shut down by the Indiana Health Department for being so dirty! They didn’t even bother to open the pool this year!!! What am I paying $1000/month for????
– Hope you like climbing stairs, because the elevators are broken more than they’re operational. They were broken when I was moving out, and I lived on the fourth floor.
– If you like peace and quiet, then this place is not for you. The walls are paper thin so you can hear everything from above and below you. The noise from outside is insane – sirens, people blasting music, fighting – you name it.
– The trash chute is constantly overflowing, attracting pests and causing horrendous smells. I’ve heard stories of roach and fly infestations, and when I lived here in 2020 we caught 14 mice in our apartment.
– They make you pay $80/month to park your car in a garage that has broken barriers. It’s open to the general public where people race around it, blast music, and smash glass bottles. So be prepared to invest in some ear plugs and hope that your car does not end up wrecked!
– They insist on residents using a package locker for their deliveries. I had several packages go missing, and when you ask staff for help, their response is a shrug and a blank stare.
– Lastly, when I moved in, my bedroom was disgusting – urine in my toilet, stains on my carpet – it had not been cleaned or painted. When I moved out, my room was spotless and they tried to charge me a painting fee. Their audacity knows no bounds.
Do yourself a favour and do not live here. You’ll pay a ridiculous amount of money for the privilege of living in a dump. The only reason I stayed here for so long was the proximity to school, but ultimately, no location is worth sacrificing your peace of mind or sanity.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.
In my time at The Avenue, this place proved to be an absolute disaster.
Here’s a short list of what I endured:
-My apartment flooded twice (videos included), and management told me it was still livable (pictures included of “livable”).
-The elevator was broken more often than it worked.
-Our HVAC system was broken for 8 months during the summer, and maintenance did nothing.
-When I reported that it was 79°F in the apartment while set to 68°F, the maintenance man argued with me, claimed nothing was wrong, and — no surprise — was later fired for lying about his credentials.
The property is FILTHY
-The trash chute was constantly broken, leaving the halls reeking of garbage.
-The pool has been closed for over a year, and when it was open, it was disgusting.
-You’re paying for “amenities” that do not exist in any usable form.
-I was paying over $1,000/month for a 4-bedroom — after utilities and unexplained fees — for a place where:
Maintenance doesn’t respond,
Everything is broken,
And management simply does. not. care.
Staff & Management are a complete joke
The front desk staff are rude, uninformed, and dismissive.
Every issue is met with shoulder shrugs and zero answers.
Amanda, the building manager, is fake nice — smiles to your face while doing absolutely nothing to help the residents.
And finally, have fun with the constant noise if you choose to live here.
Unless you love:
Cars racing in the parking lot at 3AM, or wall-to-wall parties and zero enforcement of quiet hours, then you better invest in industrial-grade earplugs.
This place is not worth the proximity to campus. It’s not worth the money. It’s not worth your sanity.
Save yourself the stress, and do not under any circumstances sign a lease here.

The Avenue will be the worst mistake of your life, do not lease here. My roommates and I moved in and immediately noticed cockroaches in the kitchen, putrid smells in the hallway from the trash chutes they never clean, and the notoriously dirty broken elevator that never works. The staff are so rude and have absolutely no idea what they are doing, during room checks one of their employees walked in on me without knocking, then a couple months later when the battery died on my door and I couldn’t use my key that same employee charged me a lockout fee for their issue! After enduring a year of this place they charge me $145 for “cleaning window”. Do not make the same mistake I did!

I lived here for three years! Last year I move from my 4 bedroom apartment to my two bedroom apartment! I move in the floor is messed up. I make a work order multiple times for the floor it never got fixed the whole year I was there! Then they charge me over 500 dollars after I move out for the floor, paint and other bull crap charges! I didn’t even know I had these charges then I get an email from them they will report me to the collection agency if I don’t pay right away! I paid everyone month on time! I was told to fight it I probably should have but I paid anyway! Then I call today about my security deposit from three years ago and when I expect to have that back! They literally tell me they don’t have the files from my first two years here. And I have to contact another company that doesn’t own the apartment anymore! Why do I have to chase down my money! That’s an avenue problem not my problem I should fix. Do not come here if you’re looking for an apartment they will do anything they can to scam you.

I left a review originally calling the place mid, that has moved onto terrible. This is a horrible place to live. The pool has been closed for almost a year with false promises on when it will function. Homeless are absolutely crazy here and one got in the way of my car and was hitting the hood, avenue just says to file a report, rather than adding lights more cameras etc they just don’t care. They do not care about you. They just want your money. They will respond with a generic message such as “this isn’t what is expected with the avenue” but in all reality it is and they don’t care. They impose new fees every single week the elevator is broken every week. Ac always is broken, community is downright rude and prissy.

Where do I even start? This apartment was one of the worst apartments I’ve ever stayed in. When I first moved into The Avenue, everything seemed perfect, but during my time there I had multiple issues regarding several of the appliances in my apartment. First off, I had a water heater that was rusting and falling apart and had a bunch of issues. In general, the space that it was in was unclean and looked like it had previous water damage. I had a bunch of issues when it came to having small leaks and coming home to water on our floor, not having hot water to take showers, and having other issues regarding our water heater. Another issue that I had during my time was with the timeliness with which the maintenance team would respond to our request. Sometimes they were pretty quick to come and fix certain appliances in our apartment, but then other times we had problems with them taking a super long time. For example, we had a microwave that broke, and someone came in and took a look at it and marked our maintenance request as “done.” When I told the office that it was never fixed, they told us they’d be up as soon as possible, and we had to wait 1 month until someone came in and fixed it. Besides having issues with maintenance they overcharged for a place they didn’t take care of and they would also charge residents $25 for leaving trash bags in the hallway right next to the trash chute, but they would also let the trash chute back up and wouldn’t clean it out, which would often cause fruit flies to breed and to cause the hallway to smell horrible which my apartment was so close to the trash chute that when I opened my door it would constantly stink. Another common issue was that the elevators seemed like they were always broken. Sometimes I didn’t have access to my mail room because the lock on the outside was broken, and if I had guests over, they could park in the garage, but only on the first level, and they had to pay, even if they were coming over for a short period so most of them parked at the Taco Bell across the street. I had so many issues during my time at The Avenue and would NOT recommend it to anyone looking to live somewhere near campus.

We lost our pup to cancer a month ago and my mom and I on a whim decided to come check out happiness is pups and I cannot express just how positive of an experience I had. The store is so so clean, the pups are well taken care of, our sweet boy was up to date on his vaccines and because I was flying out with him they setup and took care of the vet costs so we could get his rabies shot to travel. Karen was an absolute delight throughout the process and was so kind and caring, I was on the fence about our sweet boy but I’m so grateful my mom (tricked me) brought me in.

Now I will say first I prefer dealing with rescue groups when possible. However, after recent efforts to do so, and the time constraints I have, I ended up visiting Happiness is Pets. I think they give the best care possible under the constraints they have. The two pups I visited with seemed surprisingly well adjusted and happy. 1st I want to say I am not a fan of puppy stores. We visited for the inexpensive hooves that our dog loves. The puppy cages were clean and the dogs looked healthy and clean as well. The prices are just so inflated to cover their overhead, is my guess. Many of the dogs can be adopted through breeders for 1/3 the cost. Its sad that the puppies are the ones stuck in the cages until someone can afford $3k to take them home. 🙁 But that being said they did have blankets, toys, food, and water. Which is more than some places we have seen.

Got our pup Myles (formerly Michael) from here. Couldn’t have asked for a better pup. The vet clinic they’re partnered with also seems to be really good too. They took good care of him when we went in for his checkup and said he was healthy.
Been 5 months since we brought Myles home and he is still healthy and the most loving dog I’ve ever had. I also forgot to mention that if you’re concerned about them being connected to puppy mills to not worry. This location at least gets their pups from breeders that are approved through the Purdue University Canine Care program that’s designed to prevent puppy mills and let those looking for a new family member know that the breeder is held to a high standard.

This place is wonderful. I found a baby bunny in a well and was worried he was injured or unwell—he barely moved when we rescued him so I called this wildlife rehabilitation center. The person who helped me responded quickly to my text and arranged a time for drop-off. She reassured me that he was likely just very frightened and promised to make sure he was healthy and able to survive on his own before releasing him. I truly felt he was in good hands, and she even followed up to let me know he was doing well.

Would absolutely recommend! We had several baby mallards in a back pool yard area where the mother unfortunately disappeared and did not return after the first day. We think something may have happened to her, unfortunately. The babies are now in great hands at Providence and will be released back into the wild after 7 weeks. Very grateful to find this place!

I tried contacting them about a very injured duck/goose(neck was broken I believe and their legs) took them hours to respond asking for the address I gave it to them and on top of that sent pictures, never received a response on if they came and got the poor thing or anything else.

They need to remember anyone taking the time to contact them about hurt or injured wildlife is most likely an animal lover just like them. No need to be rude during an exchange of information. Reading the reviews, it doesn’t appear I was the only one of the receiving end of this attitude problem. Thank you for doing this work but it’s time to make sure you are okay first so you can continue doing good work. People finding sick and injured animals and trying to get them to you are not the enemy.

Zero stars!!! I contacted this rescue on June 10th about a baby bird that I found while doing my afternoon walk. No one answered, but had a voicemail that said to text the number the address and description of the issue. I did!!!!
NO RESPONSE OF ANY KIND!!! WHAT A SHAME!!! But baby bird is doing well and safe.
And don’t reply with a lie saying you responded because I will reply back.

I am sure they do great work rehabilitating wildlife and I thank them for that. However, they were not kind to me when I contacted them about a situation. I had reached out to them right when I captured abandoned ducklings. After reaching out a second and third time, they responded 17 hours later and were very judgmental of me. I put the ducklings in our neighborhood creek with a male and female duck because I didn’t know what else to do and they were judgmental of my choice. I did the best I could and immediately reached out to them first. I am not in the line of wildlife rescue! I am, though, in the line of healthcare. Would I ever be condescending to a patient who came in with a massive heart attack because they sat at home for days with chest pain? Absolutely not. I would be compassionate and give the aid that was needed. To sum it up, think about how you communicate with people who reach out for help because it will impact the well being of the wildlife who need your help.

I am so grateful for this place and their hard working, caring, and generous team. A wild baby bunny in our yard was hiding in weeds as we were working and he got hurt. I reached out here uncertain of what to do. Once making my appointment, I arrived and the little bunny was scooped right up like a newborn baby. I knew then I chose the right place. They’re so kind and do amazing work out of the love for animals. Please be patient with them, this is not your emergency vet clinic, they will get in touch as SOON as they can. This is a small nonprofit organization and I can assure you they care about your situation and the animal(s) just as much, if not more, as you do! The mailbox is always full so you can’t leave a message. They said that they were at the scene picking up a dog that I reported that was injured. I went back to check on the dog an hour later and it was still there… terrible!!!
I got an update that the shelters were full so they refuse to pick up this dog. Terrible humans!!!

Found a stray dog at a park, decided to take it home because that’s the right thing to do. A week goes by and weve had enough so we call animal control. Instead of offering a helpful solution, they told us to just release the dog back out on the street. If anybody thinks for a second that this place actually cares about animals, they’re kidding themselves. This joke of an establishment should be shut down.
