We woke up to the heartbreaking discovery that our beautiful girl, Blanche, had unexpectedly passed away over night. I called AAEC for cremation service and Sabrina was extremely nice, empathetic, and explained their services. When it was time to pick up her remains, there was a mix up on her last name but they discovered the mistake immediately and asked me to come back the next day so they could fix the issue with the place that cremated her. I have never taken my pets here for an emergency. This review is solely based on this experience. One thing I have an issue with is when they took her vet information, they said they would contact them to stop notification reminders for Blanchie, however, I received this email from the a couple days later (see photo). They just need to update their email settings.
We were treated with care, compassion, and kindness when I had to bring my dog in on a weekend. He’d been seizing and was very obviously was at the end of his life and I needed to humanly allow him to pass and no longer be in pain- and they took care of him right away. The tech we worked with was incredibly kind to us as well as my sweet boy, giving me as much time as I needed and making sure he was comfortable. They were transparent about our options and upfront about cost. I hope I don’t need to, but I will use again if needing a pet emergency.
On 7/19 we came home to find our 72# German Shepherd mix sick. At first we were unsure of what was going on. It didn’t take long to find she had gotten into the kitchen and self served with mini Semi Sweet Chocolate chips. Like 2/3 pounds of Chocolate. I immediately started calling emergency clinics. First one the vet was headed into emergency surgery so they were closing the clinic. Second one was so busy they were on furlough to get caught up. That landed me at Airport Animal Emergi Center in Indianapolis. Our girl was very very sick. She was vomiting on our way to the vet. Was I prepared for this absolutely not. I was not prepared to lose our 7 year mother to our other animals. But we made it to the vet. We waited maybe 5 minutes for a room to be emptied and cleaned. The staff jumped right in and hit the ground running. The vet told us as we hit the door to treat her was $500 starting. He wanted us to be prepared. He also told us of everything that can happen quickly if things go south. Thankfully either she didn’t eat it until just before we got home or we got her there before real trouble set it. He was going to keep her through the night. I explained my husband and I both were on disability so much is always something we needed to discuss. He said as a practicing Vet for 22 years he would feel comfortable letting us take her home. They sent home active charcoal for her next dose when we got home. I pray this never happens again because if it does she will be staying in clinic. But the time we got the 3 BIG syringes down her it was coming out her back side. It forced all the remaining chocolate out of her body. Thankfully the vet sedated her so she was very calm throughout it all to include the multiple rinses she got getting the charcoal off. From the bottom of my families hearts to yours THANK YOU to everyone who helped with our Chocolate girl. Forever Gratefil
We recently had to take our family dog of 10 1/2 years here to put him to rest. My husband and I have had him our entire marriage and it was so difficult for us. The vet tech that put him to sleep was amazing, she was so gentle and sweet to him. Told him how cute he was. The entire staff was very accommodating and we received a card in the mail about 2 weeks later with the staff’s signatures inside and warm words from a lot of them. I just want to thank you all for helping us through this and making it as peaceful for him as it possibly could have been, he was an amazing pup.
We just had to take my boy cat in because he had done something to his tail, whether licking or getting it stuck somewhere. It was bleeding everywhere. I was terrified. The techs and the vet made me feel so much better. They wrapped his tail, gave me some information, and helped ME feel better about taking care of my sweet boy. It was such a nice interaction, especially in a moment of panic. They had us in and out quickly, while making sure we had everything we needed to care for him at home. Thank you thank you to everyone there. If I need to bring my babies in for anything emergency related, I’ll be coming here.
Our dog needed emergency surgery. We live an hour and a half away and took her to Airport emergency center . They were very kind and helpful and answered all of our questions and even walked us through signing up for financing. They explained everything very well and took excellent care of our fur baby. We truly appreciate your kindness and for taking such great care of her. We highly recommend taking your animal here. Thank you!
This is a tough one. I should have known not to go here by the lack of compassion in the girls voice when I called. The vet and tech were polite, for the most part. They were upfront and honest about care and costs. They were professional. Yet, they lacked the level of compassion needed for someone who comes in alone in a situation that was totally unexpected. Yes, they would say "I’m sorry-I know this is hard"-with empty eyes that did not sound genuine. That’s just my perception. The tech actually came across as rude in her tone a few times. I struggled with payment for what was needed and felt a little rushed to make decisions while trying to make calls for help. No wiggle room for payment if you don’t qualify for Care Credit or Scratch pay. My baby girl passed less than an hour after leaving.
