I was in town for meetings and decided to satisfy my craving for Italian cuisine. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken and garlic cheese bread. The experience was disappointing from the start. As soon as I tried to mix in the dressing, I noticed the chicken had hard ends. At first, I thought I was given fried chicken, but upon closer inspection I realized it was simply overcooked—so dry it looked fried. It ruined the entire salad. I ended up boxing it back up and tossing it in the trash. The garlic cheese bread was no better. It was plain, colorless, and had only the faintest hint of garlic. For $30, I walked away still hungry and in search of lunch elsewhere.
Consistently excellent food and service. The MANY pictures on the walls ate absolutely captivating! You MUST see the Pope room in person to truly appreciate it. All the food is served family style meaning a la carte and in portions that can be made even larger by asking for the bigger size. Zach, our waiter was friendly, efficient and took excellent care of us. The prosciutto stuffed chicken is moist, tender and very flavorful. The meatballs are 2.5 inches in diameter, tender, juicy and well seasoned. The chicken marsala has a demiglas that enhances the tender chicken perfectly. The tiramasu will easily feed 6 people!
The spicy arrabbiata pizza ($27 plus tax) had good tang and spice balanced out by the caramelized onions. It was more than enough for 2 people to share. Fountain drinks with free refills are $3.99. Our server was attentive but it took awhile for tables to be cleared. It’s distracting to dine amidst unbussed tables.
Fantastic atmosphere. The food was incredible, the bread, the pizza (so much so that we got another pizza to go), and the best bruschetta I've ever had in my life. Our server, I believe her name was spelled Ashtyn, or Ashtin was fantastic. All the servers were great, but she really was kind and attentive. I live an hour and a half away from Indianapolis, but I'll definitely be coming back to this little slice of Italy in Indy.
We ordered Chicken Saltimboca with Fettuccine Alfredo for lunch. It was delicious, and there was plenty of food for the two of us. I recommend the house Chianti for only $6, too. According to my husband, "Buca di Beppo" means "hole in the wall." He compares it to some of his favorite Italian hangouts in San Francisco, where Italian kitch never dies.
I was a bit disappointed in the food. We ordered the Alfredo pasta, chicken Parmigiano, and garlic bread. The bread was absolutely delicious. The chicken was okay, could have been more tender, and the pasta was not great. It had an aftertaste of blue cheese, which I despise, but it may have been my fault. I am not sure if it was mentioned in the menu and if I overlooked it. Our server Mahit was super nice and very good! I loved the family-style idea, but I found the food to be overpriced. It was a great experience, nonetheless, and a great way to start our evening. I will give it another try and order something different next time.
Absolutely best restaurant experience I ever had. I had my first date here and it was perfect. The atmosphere was BEAUTIFUL, The music was nice to listen to, The food was delicious. I'd give my entire life savings to try that again. Our waitress Ash was really nice and patient with us. Best waitress, I hope to see her again. The menu is really pricey but all in all, definitely worth it. Especially considering the portions are HUGE and I'd be shocked if you didn't have leftovers after eating here.
