Had some good Mexican food. The portion size was good and the tacos tasted good as well. Since it was my birthday they did even come there and sang a song with a small piece of cake.

We stopped by La Parada in Indianapolis for lunch, and from the outside, I’ll admit it looked a little… let’s say “quiet.” There wasn’t a soul in sight, and we were starting to wonder if we had made the right choice. But stepping inside, it felt like we were transported into a cozy, vibrant Mexican spot with the typical charm you’d expect.
On the server’s recommendation, I ordered a Michelada. Let’s just say, it was spicy and packed a punch ! For the main course, we got chicken fajitas and veggie fajitas. The sizzle alone made it worth it, and the flavors did not disappoint. And, of course, we couldn’t resist ordering flan for dessert. Sweet, creamy, and the perfect way to finish off the meal. Service was also prompt and warm. All in all, despite the initial “is this place open?” vibe from the outside, it ended up being a delicious and memorable meal. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re ever in Indy!

My coworkers have been talking about how good this place is so I had to try them. I was very pleased with the atmosphere of the place, the food was absolutely delicious and the customer service was amazing. I will definitely return again to try some more things on the menu. I highly recommend this restaurant for some real Mexican food. I have been looking for a good torta and I finally found a place that has them.
Sabrina Colbert

This is an absolutely wonderful restaurant with authentic Mexican food. The menu seems never ending. The food is delicious and cannot be beat. If you are in Indy and want the best Mexican food around this is a must visit.

Food was good and service was good as well. Took my grandson today and he ordered one of the Jarritos Sodas and 2 chicken enchiladas with double rice. He was extremely satisfied with his meal. Saying he could tell the chicken was fresh. With queso cheese and chips. I ordered the combo meal of 2 beef tacos and 1 chicken quesadilla with beans and rice. Mine was delicious. Would definitely visit again and recommend. Have handicap seating inside and outside. Plus easy parking. Prices very reasonable.

First thing first, our server Addy (sorry if I misspelled your name!) was the absolute best. If the managers are reading this, you need to keep staff like her.
The food here was very good. Dont expect 100% authentic, but that isn’t a bad thing with the twist that Bakersfield puts into it.
The tacos are about $4.50 so on the pricer side for the size. The Al Pastor was nice, but had more pineapple on it than I would’ve liked. The shrimp taco was my personal favorite.
The Mexican empanadas are filled with cheese & go well with the side sauces. But if you’re only going to get one appetizer, I’d get the short rib queso.
For 2 people, it was pretty loud & dark at night so just keep that in mind if you’re trying to have a nice date. Otherwise, the service & food is worth it!

I haven’t been to Bakersfield in a few years but I always remembered it as excellent food even if it was a little pricy.
We were lucky enough to stop by during happy hour on a Tuesday so all drinks and apps were half price and since it was Tuesday happy hour the tacos were $3. We made out like bandits because of that.
I ordered a strawberry agua Fresca and my dining partner ordered a small margarita because the happy hour one is smaller. She did the Bakersfield classic and enjoyed it. The strawberry Fresca was good but nothing to write home about.
We ordered the poblano taco, the shrimp one and the chicken green one. The poblano is surprisingly spicy so if you can’t handle heat, don’t order it. The shrimp one was a little spicy but the slaw stole the show and was delicious. The chicken was moist and flavorful, creamy from the cheese. I would order all three again.
We also ordered the guac which was seasoned excellently, I added no salt or lime. The rice and beans were equally excellent and were a nice pallet cleanser in between tacos.
Our bill came to about $40 before tip but again it was happy hour. I would absolutely come here again in a weekday when they’re not so busy! We had a great experience.
Amanda M

Pretty underwhelming. My husband and I love tacos and were so excited to try Bakersfield based on the reviews, but were not satisfied wit the food. It was fairly bland and left more to be desired.
Tiaju McCalup

This has always been our favorite place to eat for our downtown lunches and dinners. Today we decided to sit at the bar and ordered our original taquitos. The food came out pretty fast and while eating a roach comes crawling from the beer taps on the bar top crawling fast to my plate.
It was the most disgusting thing to see while have a mouth full and I spit out my food.
As we told the bartender she brought the manager and he said calmly he would take care of it.
We walked out pretty disgusted.
jose SIFUENTES

This cozy spot on Mass Ave serves up authentic Mexican street cuisine like tacos, tortas, taquitos, and more. They also have some delicious craft cocktails and specialty margaritas that complement every bite. Don’t miss their Cranberry Ginger Margarita, it’s their special for the holiday season and we loved it! Also highly recommend the torta and taquitos if you don’t want tacos; they were both excellent.

Very nice restaurant located super close to the arena.
Nice twist on Mexican cuisine. The nachos were a very nice surprise of fried strips that were not salty. The salsas were ok.
The chicken tacos were delicious. The rice that came with them was not. Switch out the rice and get something else.
The cauliflower tacos were surprisingly really good. I do find that they were very expensive considering that cauliflower is not a protein but a few small pieces can fill a taco.
The potatoes were delicious for me but too sweet for my date.
The spicy margarita rocks but is spicy!
PHENOMENAL service from Elise! Ask for her by name.

We ate at Nada before the Taylor swift concert on Night 2! We had a great time, loved the festive decorations and the food was great too (amazing queso!!!). But the best part of the meal was our server, Taylor. She was so knowledgeable, kind, and we really appreciated her attention to detail. She embodies stellar customer service and made our night that much better. Thanks Taylor and Nada!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had! I came during the eras tour, so they were obviously slammed but they were so efficient and well run that you could hardly tell. The food & drinks were perfection (I will say the martini was on the sweeter side but I very much appreciated that!!!) I will be thinking about the tres leches cake for a long time.
Even though they were slammed the staff was so attentive and helpful and just ridiculously kind. My friend is pregnant and asked for a clarification on the menu and the manager (owner?) gave her a onesie present for the baby ❤️
It was also nice to see that none of the staff seemed overwhelmed or overworked. The entire experience was themed and well planned and well run. The food and service were so fast (cannot stress enough how the whole city is slammed right now, but couldn’t have waited more than 10-15 minutes for our entrees.)
My only regret is that I don’t live nearby and therefore cannot come frequently!
Leighton Ridgeway

Great atmosphere, service and food!
Everything we ordered was delicious! From the chips and salsa to tacos to churros! Tacos are done right with corn tortilla and just the right of toppings and salsa. Churros were AMAZING! 3 gigantic donut shaped churros for $8! Best deal of the day!
Diego was wonderful and elevated our dining experience.
Highly recommend and would definitely come back when we are in town again.
Bessie Gessner

Such an awesome restaurant tried for the first time before a concert. Loved the atmosphere and vibe, our food was so filling and could not eat all of it, which was a shame because it was so good. We loved the shrimp and pastor tacos. Sides of the street corn and pickled veggies (can’t remember exact name) was so delicious.
Everything was a fun experience. Cocktails and margs were fantastic, flavorful and made the meal even better. Definitely recommend coming in, great fun spot to hit before going to a show or other downtown event.

I usually go to the broad ripple location where I’ve had nothing but amazing service! I picked my food up from the downtown location Friday night and ordered the nachos, after getting about half way through the nachos I came across a NAIL IN MY FOOD I immediately reached out and spoke to the manager when she said that they would give me a refund and that’s great but after discussing the refund I asked if I could get a discount or some sort of gift card for another location. I was told I needed to send proof to an email and someone would reach out to get my address to get the gift card mailed or a time I could pick them up from the store. No one has reached out or anything after sending proof and just based on our conversation cleanliness is definitely NOT their main priority and incidents like this are just an everyday occurrence. 0/10 would not recommend this location ANYONE!

Very interesting place, on the corner of a pretty popular street, these place serves killer tacos and drinks but for a pretty penny. Tacos were amazing (tried kewl ranch tacos with chorizo, pulled pork, and ground beef with the like chipotle aioli). Very very good. Service was alright, a little spotty and light but otherwise decent. Atmosphere was cool with awesome art but very empty and they were cleaning windows and emergency signs etc while there.
Andrew Burger

Tacos were on. Point. I ordered the Korean taco and OMG. Mouthwatering deliciousness. The flight of margaritas was the perfect choice for a night out. 3 lil mini margaritas (flavor of your choosing) for $15. Hibiscus was my favvvv.. I wasn’t too hungry so I just ordered one taco, but definitely will be back for more!
Lindsay H

Loved the chips. Didn’t like the Korean BBQ as much as the Lucy one. Tiffany was a great server! Kept checking up on us to make sure we’re all good

My favorite location in the city. Their food tastes the best and the freshest. Everybody is friendly. They have never messed up my order and the food is consistently the same. My go to for vegan tacos for sure.

There was clearly an employee who was brand new to working here or they were just being a sarcastic smart a… because I ordered Chicken Nachos (no beans and no lettuce) and they brought the chicken covered in cheese in a container separate and then had the audacity to ask if I wanted chips with my order of NACHOS! At 12PM at lunch time on a Monday the ONLY Tamale’s they had available were Spicy Pork in Green Sauce and Pumpkin…The TAMALE Place only had TWO types of Tamales available at one point during the lunch rush. I ordered the Spicy Pork since it was the only regular Tamale choice. The food was flavorful despite the inconveniences.
Ryan S

The chicken tamale with green sauce was very good. It was delicately seasoned without overpowering the flavors of the cornmeal shell. My only regret was that I did not order the extra side of sauce which I will definitely try next time
Lynette James

A storefront in a strip mall, the Tamale Place is an interesting location. Inside, order at the counter and it doesn’t take long for them to pull your tamales, plate them and you’re ready to eat.
The current selection is on the board and I chose the “Hot & Spicy Pork” and a “Bean and Rice.” A good mix as the hot and spicy was indeed both hot and spicy. It was very helpful to have a regular with some carbs to cut some of that heat.
I am not a tamale expert and so I can’t say that these were fantastic or that they exceeded expectations. But they were tasty, a big portion and I enjoyed them.
Bruce K.

Was recommended to us by a co-worker. WOW Hands down Awesome Tamales and the chicken tacos were Fire !! The huge bag of chips and white cheese was great!! Hands down 10/10!! The food came out faster than fast food!! I loved the Hot N Spicy pork 10/10. The spicy Chipotle Beef was on point 9.5!! Pork in Roasted Red sauce (In banana leaf)was great savory flavor 9.9/10!!!
Michael Tharp

I love the spicy chicken torta so much. So many good fresh ingredients, I love the heat of the fresh jalapeno. So, so good. Love the chips, crispy, thick, so much good corn flavor. Nachos are crazy good, tamales just blissful. I lived 35 years around Austin and i know what I like when it comes to Mexican places. I like The Tamale Place. This is as good as it gets for me.

I would rank 4.5 stars! Not a full 5 bc their hot salsa is always so inconsistent (and a couple other hopefully helpful feedback items below). The first time I ever went there, the hot salsa was fire and so good with fresh onions and cilantro reminding me of my hometown hot salsa, and ever since it has been a mix of way too smokey flavor or just watery. Shredded chicken tacos are also hit or miss on whether they flavor it enough with the peppers and onions and tomatoes. But overall pretty solid helpings and the regular salsa is great w a little kick that’s not overwhelming for the less spicy-inclined. The service is always quite slow but friendly, the acoustics are crazy in there to hear anything, lighting can be really bad in certain seating areas, and the parking lot is whacky (why I rated it 4 stars). BUT. I got the carnitas fajitas this last visit (pictured) and it was the best meal I’ve had there!! So flavorful and well balanced and cooked. Consistently the best I’ve had in the area for sure though. Thanks El Jaripeo!!

Being from a different state, the food was darn good. Service was even better! I was given hard rice, but the next set of rice that came out was soft and delicious. Definitely enjoyed myself. Drinks were good as well!

This was a great place to eat. The food tasted great. My husbands food tasted good, too! We really liked our waiter. He kept our drinks full, our salsa full, and checked on us often. The restaurant looked great, also.

My first and hopefully not my last visit. I walked in. I was seated and had my bar drink, AND food in less than 9 minutes!!! Very friendly staff and the atmosphere in this establishment is very calming and impressive at the same time. The food is spot on. This would be a great place for birthdays of any age! Put this place on your to eat at list!! Very happy with my decision to eat at this establishment.

Food was good, meat tasted different but not bad, just different still good. Very nice people. Ordered a good amount and didn’t take as long as we expected.
Lusia Guerrero

The burrito was super low quality. The first bite in and I already knew it was horrible. The entire burrito had a lot of thick tortilla shown in picture. There were barely any meat and the few pieces of meat were super low quality with lots of rubbery stringy fat that you can’t chew. The burrito had no taste and the salsa included didn’t make it much better. They also charge $1.49 delivery fee on Uber Eats. Very disappointed. Stay away!

Stopped 5/5/24 for Cinco de Mayo
First time trying it.
Got beef & chicken tacos, pico de gallo, salsa, queso, chips, refried beans, street corn & pastel 3 leches.
Was hoping to be wowed…but I’d say overall everything was so/so
Street corn was very good, refried beans super runny. Seasoning on chicken for chicken tacos great, pico fresh, salsa & queso nothing special
Very clean inside
Very pleasant young gentleman took our order with a smile
Valerie Tverberg

They have the best tacos in burritos in the city. It’s not too expensive in they’re quick. I recommend the super chicken burrito it’s like $18 but it’s like 3 meals in one.
Andria Lyles

The food was tasty . Quick service . I didn’t like that there was no ice for my $5 drink . No lids for the salsa station. The art on the walls was cool. Small parking lot . Will be back but maybe for take out .

Prices are absurd for the bland food. You think they would try to lure people in with better food/prices despite not having a liquor license but it’s quite literally the opposite.
Salsa tasted store bought & chips were stale.
My 1 year old daughter kept crying when we fed her the kids chicken quesadilla & beans because they were spicy.
Erika King

The prices are way too high for the food quality. The chips were stale. They threw so many at us, like they were just trying to get rid of them. The interior is lovely & service was just okay. I wouldn’t choose to go here again. It used to be my favorite years ago when they were in downtown Fishers.
Leslie McGehee

Pretty standard Tex Mex. Nice folks. Hardly any English. Their side dish of grilled jalapenos was actually just green peppers, but other than that the food was well seasoned, hot and served quickly.
John Hite

Our first visit was fantastic! The food was excellent, drinks were top-notch, and our server was outstanding. We’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend the place!

The food at Riviera was very good, yet could have stood to be a little warmer. The service was very good initially but they tended to disappear for drink refills. Over a great experience that had potential to be better.

$26.99 fajitas for two! Only served with a small portion of overcooked rice and beans for two. The side salad was a joke and missing sour cream! The waitress only visited when taking drink orders, delivering food, and handing us the check. Another young man gave us more salsa when asked. This location needs a full remodel
Carisa Lynn

Everyone was wonderful except the lady that bought out our food. Two of us ordered the same dish but different meats ( one chicken, one beef) As one of the plates was gorgeous and the other was just meat and tortillas! We asked for the lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream that we thought can with the order. She said it was coming and sat at a table across from us and talked the rest of time we were there. I went to the front cashier and ordered the toppings since no one came back to check on us. Her food was cold by then cause we waited for the toppings, thinking they really were coming out with them. Like why wasn’t it on the plate, there was plenty of room for them. The staff apologized, got the toppings and checked on us 2 -3 times during our visit. Good was super great. Drinks were something to sing about. The rest of the staff was excellent. But that one person!!

The food was amazing and the lunch deals are cheap for a lot of food. Our server was fast and the food was warm. Recommend the Lunch Special #1. (You can get rice and beans not just one or the other 😉 The seats and table were clean and the restrooms were well taken care of.

I was craving mexican and stopped in for dinner. I was quickly seated promptly. Brought out some very tasty chips and salsa. Then I made my selection which was a Chicken dish. And I forget the name but it was wonderful. The service was excellent as the staff came by just at the right times each and every time. I am definitely putting this on the list of visit once again. Before I forget the flanded was very tasty!

Food was okay, not my favorite. Rice wasn’t bad. Service wasn’t at its finest. Never got refills, not because we didn’t see her, she passed by more than 10 times. Yes I could have asked for more drink, but that’s beside the point. She passed by 10 times didn’t ask us once how we were doing.
