Pacers Bike Share

The new e-bikes are excellent. Love that short rides are free for Marion County residents. The Indianapolis Trail system is a gem.

It's an awesome idea but having to check in every 30 minutes is unrealistic. I got caught in a pouring rain and had to duck for 4 plus hours. Doesn't seem fair to get charged for not wanting to get soaking wet trying to return the bike in time. Please change to at least an hour. 30 minutes isn't close to enough time to run one errand and get it returned in the 30 minute time frame.

Used the app and was able to quickly unlock two bikes. Used for about 70 minutes and was billed correctly at $11.50/bike. This was less expensive than renting a bike at the canal (unless you plan on riding for 3 or 4 hours) and there are a lot of drop off points. The 8 mile trail around town is flat and wide and we felt safe in all the areas. After docking, we got a message that the bikes were returned. Note that many of the bad reviews about the app were for other cities not Indy. Bikes are 3 speeds which is all you need for this trail.

Indianapolis was supposed to have an easy and fair bike share. Turns out they have changed the way they operate. No more day or week passes for people from out of town to be able to use it within a reasonable price. Now it's $0.15 per minute plus $1 for every time you pick the bike up. So an hour is $10. Not too bad if that's all you need it for, but if you come to town for the purpose of checking out the bike infrastructure then you're out of luck and that can get fairly expensive. Basically it is bikeshare that is only good for residents.

Terrible experience - family of four having to check in every 30 minutes is unreasonable. We ended up returning them at the first check in, basically paying $32 for 20 minutes of riding. There were no slots to return a bike; luckily an employee showed up to pick up 8 bikes, or we would've been charged late fees on all of them. Not worth the hassle/panic of meeting the check-ins. Great idea, but not in practice. They should at least extend the check-ins to an hour.

I had a wonderful time riding around downtown. The process of checking the bike in an out is simple. It’s very helpful that you get a message letting you know when the bike is being returned. This helps avoid any late charges. If your downtown and want to enjoy a tour I suggest you to rent one.

I love Pacers Bike Share and use it daily for my commute. To clarify for some of the other reviewers, this is bike SHARE not bike rental. You can check the bikes out for up to 30 minutes an unlimited number of times during your pass period (day, month, year). If you need a bike continually for the whole day, there are a number of bike RENTAL places around such as BGI at City Market YMCA.
