MELİH ÖZCAN

The service was fast, and the staff was attentive. The portions were quite generous. We had the masala chicken, and it was really good. The only thing we didn’t quite like was that the garlic bread had a bit too little garlic for our taste. Overall, we were happy with the experience and would definitely come back!

A highly rated Indian restaurant. Their service is very friendly and welcoming. Their ambience is cozy and good for less crowds. We got chicken manchow soup, hunter chilli chicken, mutton Ghosh biryani and tea. I must say it was packed with many Americans than Indians which was intriguing. They had plenty of Indian beers served here. The soup was amazing for the cold weather with plenty of chicken. It was an Indochinese style which was packed with flavors. The Gunter chilli chicken was the best. The mutton leg Ghosh biryani was ok and not up my expectations. It was spicy though we ordered mild heat. Finally to top it off I got masala chai and it was good. Overall a great experience and must try if you crave Indian food.

Don’t sleep on this one! The food was outstanding! Mild has some kick so beware. Kind people. Quick service. Great for newbies to Indian cuisine up to the more advanced connoisseur.

A very authentic taste! Enjoyed the food so much and will be back! Our server was very kind and helpful! We ordered samosas, naan bread, butter chicken curry, and goat curry (chef specialty). To top it off I got a sitifal shake yum yum 😋

V For Vendetta

The Hyderabad House has quickly become a favorite of my girlfriend and I when it comes to authentic Indian cuisine. The service is excellent, and the waiter we’ve had the last 2 times was very interested in regards to whether we enjoyed our food or not, and was very attentive to our needs and very polite. He has also been very good at making suggestions for us to try new things. Our food was delivered to us very quickly, which we were impressed/pleased by. As for atmosphere, the atmosphere is minimalist in nature, but very calming, laid-back, and relaxing with the white walls and the wood wicker suspended light fixtures. They have flat screen TV playing cricket games, and Indian commercials, which added a certain amount of atmosphere. But the food is definitely exceptional. The garlic naan and butter naan are delicious. The Afganhi Curry and Butter Masala are smooth, creamy, and flavorful. Next door to the restaurant they have a ice cream parlor/bakery/dessert shop called «Kwality», which is not only a clever play on words, but lives up to it’s name- Quality. My experiences with Hyderabad House have been nothing but pleasent and accomodating, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.

Was referred here by a couple friends and it didn’t disappoint! Well worth the 50min drive! Ordered the Chicken Lolipop, Butter Chicken, Garlic Nan and was stuffed! Came with a very nice starter with dips of some kind. I ordered the Northern India drink which could have been a dessert! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wasn’t sure what to order and they provided great recommendations. The bowls and serving items were very pretty and you can tell they have pride in what they serve here. Will definitely come here again.

10 on 10 experience. Helpful and pleasant staff members. Chef does accommodate taste preferences. Food taste is very nice, I would say most dishes taste authentic l, unlike most american indian restaurants( same gravy named differently) We tried paneer malabar and shahi kofta, both werr prepared very nice. Their naan is also authentic, freshly made. Ambience wise also this is very lit and charming.

Great Indian restaurant in Indy! We have wonderful service every time we go. I like to get the Gobi Manchurian as my meal. The BEST vegetarian dish I’ve ever had.

I tried this place for my birthday dinner for the first time and it was THE BEST Indian food I have had! We picked it up to go, they were so friendly and clean/beautiful inside (shoutout Bob Evans). I drove this food AN HOUR home, put it in the fridge, and then reheated it and it was absolutely delicious. Layers of flavor, perfect textures. I didn’t know naan could be SO soft. I will be back, and I can’t wait to check out a buffet if they have it. Cannot recommend enough.

I ordered through UberEats two Biryani and one garlic naan, where I received only ONE bowl possible merged of biryani even though my reciept says two biryanis. Also, the garlic naan reached me ice cold. I’m really surprised with such a high star review yet low and disappointing service/orders that even they want to save on utensils where we requested them but haven’t received any.

Korjal was an excellent hostess and server. She assisted us in navigating the menu and helped us choose the best dishes based on our tastes and preferences. The menu is very extensive, and in the best way! The Chicken 65 was delicious, as was the Chicken Shahi Korma. All the food came out hot. The fried fish was a bit of a let down. The drinks were decent, and the mango lassi was quite good. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be returning.

I’ve been to Bawarchi in Indianapolis a few times now and have tried a good mix of their dishes. The place has plenty of seating and the service has always been fast. The Vijayawada Chicken 65 Biryani was really good. It has great flavor, though the chicken quantity felt a bit less compared to the rice. Their salt & sweet lime soda was also nice and refreshing. On another visit, we tried both the veg and non-veg thalis. They were decent, not amazing, but good enough. The portions were huge. Honestly, they could reduce the biryani rice in the thalis and just offer refills to avoid food waste. My absolute favorite here is the juicy chicken mandi. I’ve tried mandi at a few places in the US, and this is one of the best I’ve had. The chicken is flavorful, the portion is great, and the rice is super aromatic. It comes with yogurt sauce, curry sauce, mayo, and veggies. It’s only available on weekends, but it’s definitely worth it. Overall, solid service and some standout dishes. I’d definitely come back for the Mandi.

Here’s a short, polished review you can use: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bawarchi Indian Restaurant in Indianapolis offers delicious, flavorful food with a strong South Indian focus, while still providing a good variety of North Indian options as well. The spices and taste feel authentic and well balanced. The ambience is pleasant and welcoming, making it great for both family dining and casual outings. Service is courteous and efficient, and the food is served quickly without compromising quality. Overall, a great place for authentic Indian cuisine in Indy. There is a bar available with plenty of wine and spirit options, cocktails, domestic beers, Indian beers, and a wide variety of Whiskey options. Prices are on the higher side but worth the money for flavor eateries.

We usually cater, and it never disappoints. The Dynamite Gobi is a crowd favorite , always the first dish to finish at our events. Recently visited for lunch and tried the Gobi Chetkara, which was absolutely lit. Their chicken and mutton biryanis are also excellent flavorful, aromatic, and authentic. Highly recommend!

We were 4 adults who visited the sunday lunch buffet. The area was open with plenty of space to move around. The appetizers included gupchup, chana chat, upma, idly , tangdi kebab, schezwan chicken. Taste was very good. Same goes for main course. The biriyanis are a must try. They prepared different type of rice apart from biriyani which all were tasty. They have a live dosa counter. One area where it seriously lags is dessert section. It had only halwa and the pot was empty. we had to wait long but it didnt come. Also the sitting area didnt have ac on. So far good experience and would recommend this to friends. ‐—————- 27th jan 2026 take out order via ubereats Ordered chicken biryani and half tandoori chicken. Biryani was just rice mixed with turmeric and tawa fried with 3 tiny chicken pieces. I could smell the turmeric in biryani. It had huge onion bell pepper pieces probably cut for tandoori chicken. Check pics attached. My 2nd item was Tandoori chicken . It was added red color and super dry. Tried reheating but kind of stale food. Had to throw away. Such disappointment on online orders. Buffet has been good but will never order online or do a takeout.

Amazing food. I’ve gone a couple times and made a point to get something different every time and everything I’ve tried so far has been delicious!! The menu is so vast there’s no doubt you’ll find something you enjoy. Portion sizes are very generous, I’d say 3 people can eat off of on entree and be full. Very swanky atmosphere as well.

I’ve had both takeout and dine-in from this restaurant and overall I recommend just doing takeout here. The food is definitely tasty, and you can tell that they utilize authentic recipes. I’ve tried a few dishes and they were all great. However, the service during dine-in is very slow and not super friendly. Their air conditioning was also broken last time we visited, which made for a very hot summer dining experience. Overall I recommend eating here, just make sure you do takeout.

Perfect place for a relaxed dinner with family. You’re not rushed at all, and no one is pushing you to hurry up and make room for others, which really lets you enjoy your meal and time together. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, and cleanliness here is truly top-class. You can tell they take pride in keeping everything spotless. The service is friendly and respectful, and the food is delicious with rich, authentic flavors. I also loved that they offer cakes that you can order or purchase, which is great for celebrations. And the plates are a really good size — unlike some places where portions feel small, here the plates are big and filling. This location in Fishers, Indiana, right off 96th Street, is very convenient and easy to get to. Overall, a wonderful dining experience and definitely a place we’ll return to.

One of the finest Indian restaurants in Indianapolis. The ambiance is modern with a spacious, open seating layout. We were thoroughly impressed by the service; Simran was incredibly friendly, attentive, and ensured our food arrived quickly. I highly recommend trying the tacos from the appetizer menu—they were a standout. The naan was also excellent. We’ve heard great things about their buffet and definitely plan to return soon to try it!

It’s always an amazing experience visiting this restaurant! The vibes are superb and cool, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. The ambience is warm and welcoming, with elegant interiors, cozy seating, and beautiful lighting that creates a delightful dining atmosphere. The décor strikes the right balance between modern style and traditional charm, making every visit feel special. The food is simply outstanding — they offer a wide variety of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, along with mouthwatering starters and irresistible sweet dishes. Every item is full of flavor and beautifully presented. The pani poori, jalebi, and pastries are absolute must-tries! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves good food, great ambience, and memorable dining experiences.

Geetanjali Bihani

A beautiful and cozy place with hanging vines, perfect lighting, and the best Indian fusion food I’ve had in the states. Everything we had was phenomenal. Definitely try their manchow soup, perfectly spicy and made with fresh ingredients. We also had their baby corn curry leaf appetizer, and would recommend! The paneer tikka appetizer was served on a sizzling platter, flavored perfectly, must try! I paired everything with a Chiku shake, which I also recommend! And finally, for dessert, we had badam halwa ice cream and pistachios kulfi pie. Needless to say, the badam halwa was a wonder in itself and the pista kulfi was creamy, made with fresh ingredients. Overall, I will give it a 10/10 recommendation and will visit again!

Its crazy to think that this used to be the pizza place. The parking was tough to find. We entered and had to look around to be seated. After being seated, everyone was super nice. The food was HOT and came out pretty quickly. It was flavorful but also a lot of food. I loved the black and gold vibes.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Curry Leaf! We got there right before the rush. Great location right by the fashion mall with wonderful food and atmosphere. We got our food medium spice which was spicy but not overbearing. The owner was very nice and came and spoke to us about our dinner. This is a local eatery so come support them amongst the sea of food chains in the area! They have beer and wine, too.

We went right when they opened at noon on a Saturday and they took us in right away. The place is very clean and very nicely decorated. The server was kind and attentive. We started with the pepper chicken which had a good spicy flavor we enjoyed. For our main enteee, we had the butter chicken masala with garlic naan and butter tandoori roti. The butter chicken flavor was very creamy and delicious. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasted great. The hardest part was finding parking. There are other restaurants and places using the same small lot, so parking was extremely limited. Once you find parking, it’s really worth it to come try this place. We’ll definitely come back to try more things.

The ambience was nice and the customer service was great. The tandoori paneer was AMAZING. And everything had great flavor. But I wish they wouldn’t use color when making the chicken 65 and the naans were a little more thin. But other than that the chettinad chicken and Kadai paneer were really good!! I would definitely visit again.

My daughter and I came for the lunch buffet as a special NY eve treat. The place was very clean and the buffet was nice. The flavors were very tasty but the spice was too much for us. We had to ask for our water carafe to be filled and had very minimal interaction with the waiter. The $33 bill for the two of us definitely makes this place a special occasion only stop.

We stopped in from out of town hoping to find something delicious, and did we ever! The restaurant is absolutely beautifully done. A great selection of food (even a kids menu!) and the service was exceptional. We’re in the area often, and we will be back! Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

Wonderful Indian Lunch Buffet open every day 11am – 3 pm. Very clean and nice place with very nice staff. They had all of the favorites I wanted…close to 20 options not including desert which there are a few options there as well. What else could you ask for when looking for a great Indian lunch buffet? I give it 5 stars.

Came here for the first time with a friend to grab dinner. I can confidently say that this was the best meal I have had in a long time. Every bite was delightful and the servings were very generous. Additionally, the staff members are amazing. They provide a warm, welcoming, and high quality experience. I can’t wait to go back.

This was my first visit to Punjabi Tadka Indian Cuisine, and it exceeded my expectations. The dishes were flavourful and authentic, and the service was excellent! Owner Harman and her husband provided warm hospitality that truly enhanced the experience. I highly recommend trying this place.

My second visit here. Not disappointed again. It’s rare to find good tandoori and I found it here. The rotis are awesome like in an authentic dhaba. Curries didn’t disappoint. Place is clean and posh ! Good for a date night. We came here because it’s one of the rare places to get rajma chawal.

Large, modern, and super clean—Punjabi Tadka checks a lot of boxes right away. The menu is packed with great options, the flavors are bold, and the service is friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable too. One fun twist: they serve ice cream alongside traditional Indian desserts. A nice touch that sets them apart. Worth a visit if you’re craving solid Indian food with a few surprises.

Came here in a stormy night. Had an excellent experience. The service was top notch. The food was full of flavor and delicious. The owner was or servers. He would not let us leave while the rain was too heavy. He watched the rain and let us know when it was safe to leave. You can put a price on service like that.

I would have to say this place is my favorite restaurant in Indianapolis. The majestic chicken and chicken 65 are simply unmatched. The service is always great! If you’re new to Indian food they have a lunch buffet so you would be able to try many of the dishes without having to commit to just one. You won’t regret it!

Came in here to celebrate my daughter’s boyfriend’s birthday. This is the place he chose and we are so glad he did because it was delicious and the service was amazing. The place is having some renovations but don’t let that scare you because they are still open. Upon entering, we were quickly welcomed and seated. They are very kind and very attentive. A couple of us ordered the mango lassi and a couple had the strawberry lassi. Both were really good but I prefer the mango. We ordered a few appetizers and several entrees. I will add pictures of those. My dish (chilly shrimp) is normally chilly chicken but they let me modify it. It was amazing as was all the other dishes. We will definitely be back.

THEY HAVE A RAT/MOUSE PROBLEM. DO NOT EAT HERE. As the other two reviews said, they have rats or mice running around the restaurant. I saw it today, and the other review that commented about it was from 6 months ago. Meaning this has been an issue for quite some time. Let me just say, the food is good, but this is unacceptable. I was a regular for a looong time. I’m not sure why they won’t do anything about it, spending a couple thousand to fix it is in their best interest. The worst thing is, this makes other indian restaurants look bad. This is NOT representative of indians as a whole. Most places are great, clean, and hygienic. Please look into pest control or the business will suffer.

Obviously I should have taken a picture before, but I could not wait to eat! Everything about my experience at Tandoori Flame was great. The goat Biryani was the best I’ve ever had. I ordered spicy and it was perfect for someone who loves hot food. I was having a bad day until I ate here. Wish I lived in this area to visit more. Don’t hesitate to stop in! The staff is very professional and polite. You won’t regret coming here.

While Tandoori Flame is under construction, the food remains top quality, service is excellent, atmosphere comfortable. I really enjoyed the beef samosas with their homemade Green Hari Chutney, and garlic naan bread! The Tamarind Chutney was good if you like sweet and tangy. I will be back!

One of the best Indian restaurants in the area. I had one of the closest flavor encounter in this spot. Their service is amicable and quick. We got mutton Kola urundai, mutton kothu parotta and jighardhanda. The mutton kola was flavorful with good spices. It was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The mutton kothu parotta was also great and their compliments (gravy) were too good. Their serving size is good for two people. For dessert we got Jighardhanda and man it was perfect. Best one I’ve had in the us. I’ve tried this dessert in few other places in different and this was the only closest representation to the iconic one back in Madurai. Overall a great dining exp and a must visit.

Food was okay, but it had too much oil for my taste. Unfortunately, the service experience was disappointing. The owner seemed very unfriendly and did not smile or greet customers. She mostly sat on her phone, and her attitude toward me felt rude and unwelcoming. Customer service is just as important as the food, and I hope they improve the way they treat customers in the future.

The lunch buffet is outstanding. The vegan menu is extensive and delicious. We ordered paratha as it was not included in the weekday menu. The dosas are light and crispy, sensational. I recommend ordering the masala dosa rather than the plain. The paneer masala is creamy and rich, the chick peas are tender, the crispy spinach is WOW! Really appreciate the mango lassi too. My daughter is opposed to cilantro and found many tasty options without cilantro on top.

Madurai Virundhu is a Tamil restaurant and a good one for Indy. Everything was delicious and authentic. We visited on Sunday as a group of 14, and we went right when the place opened at 11:30. Note this place gets very very busy and it has reasons of course. For $25/head the buffet is very good. Everything from Indian breakfast items to fish, chicken and mutton appetizers and followed by chicken and mutton biryani the spread was so royal. We sat for about 2 hours and ate to our hearts content. Service was pretty quick and we just couldn’t stop eating . The Thalappakatti Biryani is a renowned South Indian rice dish originating from Tamil Nadu, pair with mutton curry it was a combo to die for. Overall highly recommended place and do try them.

Fantastic food and outstanding service. The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The restaurant has a nice, quaint atmosphere that makes you feel welcome right away. Every dish was fresh and full of flavor. A hidden gem worth visiting. Highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys quality Indian cuisine.

Lamb biryani was good. It came with a yogurt based sauce (raita) to ease heaviness of the biryani. The dish was generous in portion and rich in flavor. The lamb was tender in a way that you can cut through it with a spoon. Mango lassi was the perfect drink to wash down a delicious meal! Service was amazing! It felt like you are stopping at your auntie’s home for lunch. The decor inside almost gave me the impression of a fine dining spot. Everything is so clean. While the restaurant was quiet since I went in the middle of a weekday, the TV was playing Bollywood music video and they were entertaining.

We had a fantastic meal here! High quality and flavorful Indian food in a sweet atmosphere. The cafe is small, but grab one of the window seats with barstools so you can have a view of the street and I promise it’s the best seat in the house! Beautiful experience. The food was delicious. The best Punjabi bhaji i ever ate, also the garlic Naan, was perfect. The ambiance was very mom and pop but more elegant.Hema, our server, was very sweet and hospitable. It’s a little tight, but I definitely would love to go back. Every time I go I feel transported into the lush culture of beautiful India. The cuisine and atmosphere are such that a most satisfactory dining experience occurs with every visit. The consistency of service and staff makes one feel confident in an enjoyable meal. Also, if you go before 7pm you most likely beat the evening rush and have a quiet 1-on-1 dining experience.

We had a girls dinner at the India Garden and it was wonderful! Everyone loved their food and we had some wine to go with it. There was enough garlic bread and rice to go around. We ordered every dessert on the menu and really loved the mango icey one and the raisin rice pudding. The location is great and there was a lot of seating! We will definitely be back!

My wife and I used to LOVE India Garden. We went all the time. We tried it again after a little while not going and have to say, it’s gotten to a point that we probably are not going back again. The Tikka butter Masala was super tangy and tomato(y) flavor. It used to be really buttery and creamy. The chicken was just cheap cut up cubed chicken instead of the traditional red Indian chicken. The rice no longer has flavor. It’s really sad cause I want them to stay in business but with how low quality it is, I can’t see it lasting. The servers are top tier quality and very personable and chat with you and make you feel at home. I just would love to see the food quality back up so we could enjoy it again.

I was on my way to an entirely different restaurant and saw this on my way. I love Indian food and chose to change plans last minute. I could not be more glad that I did!! Price point: I ordered the sampler platter at the back of the menu. I am absolutely blown away! This cost less than my burger and fries down the road. Food: The tandoori chicken is perfectly cooked, the lamb was falling apart off my fork, the mint chutney was delightfully surprising and spicy in the best way, the naan is unmatched, and the vegetable dishes were flavorful. The only less than perfect thing I could say is that I ordered tea I never got, and to be honest I couldn’t care less about it. The mango pineapple dessert was fresh, tangy, and sweet. The perfect ending. 10/10 chefs kiss 🤌🏼 Atmosphere: It is very nice in here and I am seriously underdressed. (Oversized tee shirt and work out shorts) Staff: The staff were so nice and reassured me multiple times that I am welcome and there is no dress code. My waiter has been so patient and attentive!

Frequently asked questions about Indian restaurants in Indianapolis

What types of Indian cuisine can I find in Indianapolis?

Indianapolis boasts a diverse range of Indian restaurants, offering a broad spectrum of regional cuisines. You’ll find establishments specializing in North Indian dishes, such as rich curries like butter chicken and palak paneer, alongside options focusing on South Indian specialties like dosas, idlis, and various sambar preparations. Some restaurants also offer a blend of both, while others concentrate on specific regional variations – a genuine exploration is highly recommended.

Are there many vegetarian options available?

Absolutely. Indianapolis has a significant number of Indian restaurants catering specifically to vegetarians and those following a plant-based diet. Many dishes are naturally vegetarian, and chefs are adept at creating flavorful and authentic vegetarian versions of popular dishes. Look for menus that clearly identify vegetarian options and consider restaurants known for their extensive vegetarian selections; it's a common and important consideration for many diners.

How much do Indian meals typically cost?

The cost of a meal at an Indian restaurant in Indianapolis can vary quite a bit depending on the restaurant's location, the complexity of the dishes, and your ordering choices. Generally, you can expect to pay between $15 and $30 per person for a complete meal, including appetizers, a main course, and possibly a side dish. Ordering off the buffet menu can sometimes provide a more economical option, particularly for groups.

What is naan bread, and what kinds are typically available?

Naan bread is a staple accompaniment to many Indian meals. It's a leavened, oven-baked flatbread, often brushed with butter and baked until puffy and slightly charred. Indianapolis restaurants typically offer a variety of naan types, including the classic plain naan, garlic naan, butter naan, and even cheese naan. Some places will also offer tandoori naan, baked directly in a tandoor oven for a distinct smoky flavor – a worthy treat.

What does "tandoori" mean, and how is it prepared?

"Tandoori" refers to a cooking method where food is prepared inside a tandoor oven – a cylindrical clay oven that uses extremely high heat. Traditionally, tandoori dishes like chicken tikka and lamb seekh kebab are marinated in yogurt and spices and then cooked directly in the tandoor, resulting in a smoky flavor and beautifully charred exterior. Not all Indian restaurants have a tandoor, but those that do offer a unique culinary experience.

Do Indian restaurants in Indianapolis offer spice levels?

Many Indian restaurants in Indianapolis are accommodating to different spice preferences. While traditionally, Indian cuisine can be quite spicy, most establishments are willing to adjust the level of heat according to your request. When ordering, don't hesitate to specify your preference: mild, medium, or hot. It’s always wise to start with a medium level if you are unsure, and ask for extra rice to help cool down your palate.

What are some popular appetizers to try?

Several Indian appetizers are popular choices. Samosas (fried or baked pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas) are a classic. Pakoras (vegetable fritters coated in a spiced batter) are another common selection. Chicken 65 (deep-fried chicken marinated in spices) and veg spring rolls are also frequently ordered. Exploring a variety of appetizers is a great way to sample different flavors and textures.

Are there any Indian restaurants in Indianapolis that offer take-out or delivery?

Yes, a significant number of Indian restaurants in Indianapolis offer both take-out and delivery services. Most have their own websites or utilize third-party delivery apps like Grubhub and Uber Eats to facilitate ordering. Checking these options can be especially convenient if you’re craving Indian food but don’t want to dine in. Confirming operating hours and delivery zones is always a good practice.

What kind of beverages do Indian restaurants typically offer?

Indian restaurants generally offer a selection of refreshing beverages alongside your meal. Mango lassi, a yogurt-based drink with mango pulp, is a popular choice. Chai, a spiced tea, is another traditional beverage. Many restaurants also serve Indian sodas (often flavored with mango, guava, or other fruits) and bottled water. Don’t forget to inquire about non-alcoholic punch options too, frequently served at celebrations.

Are there any authentic Indian restaurants in Indianapolis that prioritize traditional recipes?

Finding truly authentic Indian restaurants can require a bit of research. Look for establishments run by chefs who hail from India and have a deep understanding of traditional recipes. Reviews and recommendations from Indian community members can be particularly helpful in identifying restaurants that maintain a strong commitment to traditional culinary practices. Reading menu descriptions for familiar dishes can also provide a helpful indicator – dishes with names readily recognizable within the Indian culinary canon often suggest a more authentic approach.
