MELİH ÖZCAN

The service was fast, and the staff was attentive. The portions were quite generous. We had the masala chicken, and it was really good. The only thing we didn't quite like was that the garlic bread had a bit too little garlic for our taste. Overall, we were happy with the experience and would definitely come back!

A highly rated Indian restaurant. Their service is very friendly and welcoming. Their ambience is cozy and good for less crowds. We got chicken manchow soup, hunter chilli chicken, mutton Ghosh biryani and tea. I must say it was packed with many Americans than Indians which was intriguing. They had plenty of Indian beers served here. The soup was amazing for the cold weather with plenty of chicken. It was an Indochinese style which was packed with flavors. The Gunter chilli chicken was the best. The mutton leg Ghosh biryani was ok and not up my expectations. It was spicy though we ordered mild heat. Finally to top it off I got masala chai and it was good. Overall a great experience and must try if you crave Indian food.

Don’t sleep on this one! The food was outstanding! Mild has some kick so beware. Kind people. Quick service. Great for newbies to Indian cuisine up to the more advanced connoisseur.

A very authentic taste! Enjoyed the food so much and will be back! Our server was very kind and helpful! We ordered samosas, naan bread, butter chicken curry, and goat curry (chef specialty). To top it off I got a sitifal shake yum yum 😋

The Hyderabad House has quickly become a favorite of my girlfriend and I when it comes to authentic Indian cuisine. The service is excellent, and the waiter we've had the last 2 times was very interested in regards to whether we enjoyed our food or not, and was very attentive to our needs and very polite. He has also been very good at making suggestions for us to try new things. Our food was delivered to us very quickly, which we were impressed/pleased by. As for atmosphere, the atmosphere is minimalist in nature, but very calming, laid-back, and relaxing with the white walls and the wood wicker suspended light fixtures. They have flat screen TV playing cricket games, and Indian commercials, which added a certain amount of atmosphere. But the food is definitely exceptional. The garlic naan and butter naan are delicious. The Afganhi Curry and Butter Masala are smooth, creamy, and flavorful. Next door to the restaurant they have a ice cream parlor/bakery/dessert shop called "Kwality", which is not only a clever play on words, but lives up to it's name- Quality. My experiences with Hyderabad House have been nothing but pleasent and accomodating, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine.

Derek Babcock

Was referred here by a couple friends and it didn’t disappoint! Well worth the 50min drive! Ordered the Chicken Lolipop, Butter Chicken, Garlic Nan and was stuffed! Came with a very nice starter with dips of some kind. I ordered the Northern India drink which could have been a dessert! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wasn’t sure what to order and they provided great recommendations. The bowls and serving items were very pretty and you can tell they have pride in what they serve here. Will definitely come here again.

10 on 10 experience. Helpful and pleasant staff members. Chef does accommodate taste preferences. Food taste is very nice, I would say most dishes taste authentic l, unlike most american indian restaurants( same gravy named differently) We tried paneer malabar and shahi kofta, both werr prepared very nice. Their naan is also authentic, freshly made. Ambience wise also this is very lit and charming.

Great Indian restaurant in Indy! We have wonderful service every time we go. I like to get the Gobi Manchurian as my meal. The BEST vegetarian dish I’ve ever had.

I tried this place for my birthday dinner for the first time and it was THE BEST Indian food I have had! We picked it up to go, they were so friendly and clean/beautiful inside (shoutout Bob Evans). I drove this food AN HOUR home, put it in the fridge, and then reheated it and it was absolutely delicious. Layers of flavor, perfect textures. I didn’t know naan could be SO soft. I will be back, and I can’t wait to check out a buffet if they have it. Cannot recommend enough.

I ordered through UberEats two Biryani and one garlic naan, where I received only ONE bowl possible merged of biryani even though my reciept says two biryanis. Also, the garlic naan reached me ice cold. I'm really surprised with such a high star review yet low and disappointing service/orders that even they want to save on utensils where we requested them but haven't received any.

Korjal was an excellent hostess and server. She assisted us in navigating the menu and helped us choose the best dishes based on our tastes and preferences. The menu is very extensive, and in the best way! The Chicken 65 was delicious, as was the Chicken Shahi Korma. All the food came out hot. The fried fish was a bit of a let down. The drinks were decent, and the mango lassi was quite good. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be returning.

Geetanjali Bihani

A beautiful and cozy place with hanging vines, perfect lighting, and the best Indian fusion food I've had in the states. Everything we had was phenomenal. Definitely try their manchow soup, perfectly spicy and made with fresh ingredients. We also had their baby corn curry leaf appetizer, and would recommend! The paneer tikka appetizer was served on a sizzling platter, flavored perfectly, must try! I paired everything with a Chiku shake, which I also recommend! And finally, for dessert, we had badam halwa ice cream and pistachios kulfi pie. Needless to say, the badam halwa was a wonder in itself and the pista kulfi was creamy, made with fresh ingredients. Overall, I will give it a 10/10 recommendation and will visit again!

Went for lunch. Lemon coriander soup – excellent 👌 Chili paneer- 2 out of 10. Watery gravy, no onion, mini paneer cubes. Everything that a chili paneer should never have. Dal makhni – good 5 out of 10 Naan – 7 out of 10

Its crazy to think that this used to be the pizza place. The parking was tough to find. We entered and had to look around to be seated. After being seated, everyone was super nice. The food was HOT and came out pretty quickly. It was flavorful but also a lot of food. I loved the black and gold vibes.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Curry Leaf! We got there right before the rush. Great location right by the fashion mall with wonderful food and atmosphere. We got our food medium spice which was spicy but not overbearing. The owner was very nice and came and spoke to us about our dinner. This is a local eatery so come support them amongst the sea of food chains in the area! They have beer and wine, too.

We went right when they opened at noon on a Saturday and they took us in right away. The place is very clean and very nicely decorated. The server was kind and attentive. We started with the pepper chicken which had a good spicy flavor we enjoyed. For our main enteee, we had the butter chicken masala with garlic naan and butter tandoori roti. The butter chicken flavor was very creamy and delicious. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasted great. The hardest part was finding parking. There are other restaurants and places using the same small lot, so parking was extremely limited. Once you find parking, it’s really worth it to come try this place. We’ll definitely come back to try more things.

Sucharita

The ambience was nice and the customer service was great. The tandoori paneer was AMAZING. And everything had great flavor. But I wish they wouldn’t use color when making the chicken 65 and the naans were a little more thin. But other than that the chettinad chicken and Kadai paneer were really good!! I would definitely visit again.

I’ve been to Bawarchi in Indianapolis a few times now and have tried a good mix of their dishes. The place has plenty of seating and the service has always been fast. The Vijayawada Chicken 65 Biryani was really good. It has great flavor, though the chicken quantity felt a bit less compared to the rice. Their salt & sweet lime soda was also nice and refreshing. On another visit, we tried both the veg and non-veg thalis. They were decent, not amazing, but good enough. The portions were huge. Honestly, they could reduce the biryani rice in the thalis and just offer refills to avoid food waste. My absolute favorite here is the juicy chicken mandi. I’ve tried mandi at a few places in the US, and this is one of the best I’ve had. The chicken is flavorful, the portion is great, and the rice is super aromatic. It comes with yogurt sauce, curry sauce, mayo, and veggies. It’s only available on weekends, but it’s definitely worth it. Overall, solid service and some standout dishes. I’d definitely come back for the Mandi.

Here’s a short, polished review you can use: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bawarchi Indian Restaurant in Indianapolis offers delicious, flavorful food with a strong South Indian focus, while still providing a good variety of North Indian options as well. The spices and taste feel authentic and well balanced. The ambience is pleasant and welcoming, making it great for both family dining and casual outings. Service is courteous and efficient, and the food is served quickly without compromising quality. Overall, a great place for authentic Indian cuisine in Indy. There is a bar available with plenty of wine and spirit options, cocktails, domestic beers, Indian beers, and a wide variety of Whiskey options. Prices are on the higher side but worth the money for flavor eateries.

We usually cater, and it never disappoints. The Dynamite Gobi is a crowd favorite , always the first dish to finish at our events. Recently visited for lunch and tried the Gobi Chetkara, which was absolutely lit. Their chicken and mutton biryanis are also excellent flavorful, aromatic, and authentic. Highly recommend!

We were 4 adults who visited the sunday lunch buffet. The area was open with plenty of space to move around. The appetizers included gupchup, chana chat, upma, idly , tangdi kebab, schezwan chicken. Taste was very good. Same goes for main course. The biriyanis are a must try. They prepared different type of rice apart from biriyani which all were tasty. They have a live dosa counter. One area where it seriously lags is dessert section. It had only halwa and the pot was empty. we had to wait long but it didnt come. Also the sitting area didnt have ac on. So far good experience and would recommend this to friends. ‐—————- 27th jan 2026 take out order via ubereats Ordered chicken biryani and half tandoori chicken. Biryani was just rice mixed with turmeric and tawa fried with 3 tiny chicken pieces. I could smell the turmeric in biryani. It had huge onion bell pepper pieces probably cut for tandoori chicken. Check pics attached. My 2nd item was Tandoori chicken . It was added red color and super dry. Tried reheating but kind of stale food. Had to throw away. Such disappointment on online orders. Buffet has been good but will never order online or do a takeout.

Amazing food. I've gone a couple times and made a point to get something different every time and everything I've tried so far has been delicious!! The menu is so vast there's no doubt you'll find something you enjoy. Portion sizes are very generous, I'd say 3 people can eat off of on entree and be full. Very swanky atmosphere as well.

I've had both takeout and dine-in from this restaurant and overall I recommend just doing takeout here. The food is definitely tasty, and you can tell that they utilize authentic recipes. I've tried a few dishes and they were all great. However, the service during dine-in is very slow and not super friendly. Their air conditioning was also broken last time we visited, which made for a very hot summer dining experience. Overall I recommend eating here, just make sure you do takeout.

My daughter and I came for the lunch buffet as a special NY eve treat. The place was very clean and the buffet was nice. The flavors were very tasty but the spice was too much for us. We had to ask for our water carafe to be filled and had very minimal interaction with the waiter. The $33 bill for the two of us definitely makes this place a special occasion only stop.

Wonderful Indian Lunch Buffet open every day 11am – 3 pm. Very clean and nice place with very nice staff. They had all of the favorites I wanted…close to 20 options not including desert which there are a few options there as well. What else could you ask for when looking for a great Indian lunch buffet? I give it 5 stars.

Large, modern, and super clean—Punjabi Tadka checks a lot of boxes right away. The menu is packed with great options, the flavors are bold, and the service is friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable too. One fun twist: they serve ice cream alongside traditional Indian desserts. A nice touch that sets them apart. Worth a visit if you’re craving solid Indian food with a few surprises.

Fantastic food and outstanding service. The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. The restaurant has a nice, quaint atmosphere that makes you feel welcome right away. Lamb biryani was good. It came with a yogurt based sauce (raita) to ease heaviness of the biryani. The dish was generous in portion and rich in flavor. The lamb was tender in a way that you can cut through it with a spoon. Mango lassi was the perfect drink to wash down a delicious meal! Service was amazing! It felt like you are stopping at your auntie’s home for lunch. The decor inside almost gave me the impression of a fine dining spot. Everything is so clean. While the restaurant was quiet since I went in the middle of a weekday, the TV was playing Bollywood music video and they were entertaining.

My husband and I tried Little India for the first time during Devour Indy, and we were not disappointed! The food was amazing (I’m still thinking about the butter chicken) and the service was great too. We got our food quickly and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. So flavorful! Will definitely be going back and ordering takeout!

We had a fantastic meal here! High quality and flavorful Indian food in a sweet atmosphere. The cafe is small, but grab one of the window seats with barstools so you can have a view of the street and I promise it’s the best seat in the house! We had the lamb korma, chicken biryani, naan and mango lassi. It was all so good and the staff were very attentive. We will be back!

Beautiful experience. The food was delicious. The best Punjabi bhaji i ever ate, also the garlic Naan, was perfect. The ambiance was very mom and pop but more elegant.Hema, our server, was very sweet and hospitable. It's a little tight, but I definitely would love to go back. It's a family run restaurant, a tiny Indian jewel in Broadripple!

We had an amazing experience at Eggholic in Indianapolis! If you love authentic Indian street food, this is the place to be. 🔥 What We Tried: 🥗 Bhel – Light, crispy, and full of flavor with the perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy. 🍽️ Dahi Puri – Crisp puris filled with creamy yogurt and chutneys—bursting with taste in every bite! 🍔 Vada Pav – A true Mumbai-style classic, with a spicy potato filling and soft bun. 🍳 Egg Gotala – Rich, spicy, and packed with bold flavors—a must-try for egg lovers! 🥭 Mango Mastani – Thick, creamy, and refreshing with the perfect mango sweetness. 🥤 Rabadi Lassi – Smooth, rich, and delicious—great for cooling down after spicy dishes. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the food was fresh and flavorful. We can’t wait to come back and try more dishes! Highly recommended! 🎉🍛

It was my first visit to Eggholic, I was meaning to try their famous egg dishes for a while now. Loved the idea and thought of transforming the simple egg recipes to something more. The interior of the restaurant looked amazing and the staff were kind.

We have purchased Paneer Tikka Wrap and Paneer masala sandwich. I found hairs I the sandwich. Had to throw everything away. Be careful don’t end up eating their hairs in food. Photo attached.

Indian culinary with English sub titles. Egg salad sandwich was very good and unique. Coffee was ok but not what I wanted. No cream. No sugar or substitute sugar. Place was neat, clean, modern atmosphere, but not American. They should consider pronunciation guides on menus and on signage to accommodate an American client who is reluctant to ask, "What’s that?" Also, and aEd English wording to explain what the menu item is in order to broaden their appeal to beyond immigrants from India, which has to be a very small part of the population here in INDIAana.

definitely a new Indian experience worth trying. interesting experience to take a bite of a sandwich and get full curry flavours. tried a veg rice dish that lacked any interesting veg. just diced peppers. in fact there are no dishes with decent veg. the curries come with a flat oily bread. i prefer rice but plain rice isn't available. service is slow, our dishes came at 20, 25 and 30 minutes so if you aren't sharing you won't be eating together. We're glad we tried it.

Trip to try the vadapav here was highly anticipated. It didn't disappoint. The sev puri was okay, they used a thick puri instead of the authentic flat puri for making the sev puri. The taste lacked the chatpata finish. The chole puri fell flat, lacked salt and sourness. The place is very well decorated. Simple and clean and yet a chaat place feel. They also have a selfie corner which I think is creative idea. The sitaphal shake was ok. The food came out quick and hot. I will give them another try but definitely going back for vadapav!

Delicious Veg Burger. The service is top notch and the staff is super friendly. They are very helpful in terms of what best to order based on preferences. Got lucky with the Today's Special – Tuver Thotha and turned out to be surprisingly super tasty and amazing. Would definitely recommend to everyone who loved Indian style street food.

Chicoo shake was warm not sweet at all. Chilli garlic pizza dough was hard as a rock, would not recommend those 2 items. Atmosphere was nice, good location. Girls up front taking the order had no happy expression on their faces. Seemed like they were unhappy to be working there.

We live 35 minutes away from this location, but our experience has been truly exceptional. We ordered butter cheese Vada pav and noodles and both dishes were incredibly delicious. The taste, quality, and quantity were all top-notch. We can’t wait to visit again and savor their culinary offerings. The service was also fast and efficient 😋

1947 Eatery and Lounge brings a modern take to traditional Indian cuisine. They offer some unique options alongside the classics—and everything we tried was bold, flavorful, and delicious. The atmosphere is sleek and modern, with a full bar and a private dining room that can host up to 50 guests for business meetings or celebrations. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. If you enjoy Indian food, 1947 is definitely worth checking out.

This was an incredible dining experience. The food tasted awesome. The servers had a positive and professional attitude which was very pleasing. The hotel ambiences are quite esthetic. We, a family of 4 people ordered 2 mango Lassi, 1 butter chicken, 1 garlic naan, 1 cheese naan, 1 Hakka noodles, and 1 goat Biryani. The butter chicken and goat Biryani are one of the best I have tasted in a restaurant. If you are used to Indian spices the medium spice is more than sufficient. For people not used to much spices, mild may be a better option to consider. Prices were decent with taxes and tips in at $75. Will absolutely love to be back and refer the place. Only point to consider is that you should have the address because the entrance to the plaza is through a slightly back road although the restaurant itself is facing the main road.

As professional event planners, we have the privilege of working with the very best in the industry and 1947 truly stands out. The food is exceptional: beautifully executed, incredibly flavorful, and consistently impressive. Beyond the cuisine, what truly sets 1947 apart is the people. The chef, owner, and entire team are not only incredibly accommodating and responsive, but also creative and thoughtful collaborators. They approach every event with care, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to excellence, which makes all the difference when planning high-touch, detail-driven events. From inspired menu customization to seamless execution, the experience was flawless. We are grateful to partner with a team that delivers excellence not only on the plate, but in every interaction.

This has been one of my favorite place to go for Indian food. 1947 was one of the only restaurant in Carmel, Indianapolis and surrounding areas with a beautiful ambience. Most Indian restaurants in India will have similar ambience so it was a back home experience for me. If I have to take my family from India to a restaurant here, 1947 will be my choice because it has the class of how most restaurants are back home. I haven’t been there recently but whenever I have been there, service and food were exceptional too.

My boyfriend and I go to 1947 eatery often. Nash always greets us once we walk in and makes sure we have everything we need and everything is running smoothly. The rest of the staff are very friendly and attentive as well. The food (like the service) always exceeds our expectations. This has quickly become one of our favorite places to eat. We have truly gotten a bit of everything. Chicken curry, butter chicken, chicken wings, tandoori chicken, salmon, sea bass, shrimp, lamb chops, rice and garlic naan. We have also dabbled in a few specialty cocktails. I cannot express how nice the staff was. The food is always spot on! Our personal favorites are definitely the lamb chops, chicken wings, and sea bass. Here are a few pics I’ve taken….

Absolutely disgusting! Paneer bhurji came burnt. The garlic naans are the frozen naans from Sam’s Club and the black Chana is all water and green chillis. The raita is all curdled with extra salt and a bad stench.

I ordered a pickup order over the phone, was told it would take 45 minutes. I arrive an hour later, and the food still isn't ready. I was made to wait an additional hour for my food- the food was not particularly good for the time spent waiting. The curries were thin and oily and not super flavorful, and the tikka masala was a little too sweet. They also had a failed health violation report taped to the wall. Bizarre.

This was absolutely delicious. They actually give large portions. We ordered one "small" item for each of four family members and literally didn't need to open one. The naan is amazing and the rice is good too! I felt the pricing was pretty fair for how much we got. Service was friendly and the tea was delicious too. (I recommend taking names when taking orders over the phone but otherwise great experience) Thank you!

PROBABLY the best Butter chicken in indy! Saying that I tried different curry dishes they weren't as good as the butter chicken, so it's safe to say go try it and the bread lentil paratha was fresh , very welcoming husband and wife. It's carryout only! They have 3 outside tables you can eat on them if it's not raining! .

Went inside to order a to go order. I was somewhat greeted like I was instantly a bother for them. My order was taken and when I received it there was no eating utensils or napkins of any sort. I went across the parking bought some utensils and napkins. Then across the street to work. Co workers and I were eating different things but we decided rather quickly that we wouldn’t recommend it or go back. It was our first time trying and definitely was not impressed and especially for the price. To to it all off after my coworkers and I ate we all became very sick.

Frequently asked questions about Indian restaurants in Indianapolis

What types of Indian cuisine are typically available in Indianapolis?

Indianapolis boasts a diverse range of Indian restaurants, offering a variety of regional cuisines. You’ll commonly find restaurants specializing in North Indian dishes, like rich curries and tandoori meats. However, many establishments also offer South Indian specialties such as dosas, idli, and vada, alongside a broader selection of Gujarati, Punjabi, and Rajasthani flavors. It’s worth researching specific restaurants to ensure they align with your preferred style of Indian food.

Are there any highly-rated vegetarian or vegan Indian restaurants in Indianapolis?

Yes, Indianapolis has a growing number of excellent vegetarian and vegan Indian restaurants. Several establishments prioritize plant-based options and utilize traditional Indian spices and ingredients to create delicious and authentic dishes. Look for restaurants that clearly label their vegetarian or vegan dishes, and be sure to inquire about the sourcing of ingredients. Some popular choices are known for their extensive use of lentils, vegetables, and paneer – a fresh Indian cheese – in their creations.

What is the typical price range for an Indian meal in Indianapolis?

The price range for an Indian meal in Indianapolis can vary quite a bit depending on the restaurant’s location, the menu items selected, and the overall ambiance. Generally, you can expect to pay anywhere from $15 to $35 per person for a full meal, including appetizers, entrees, and drinks. More upscale restaurants with a fine-dining experience will naturally command a higher price point, while more casual spots offer more affordable options. Buffet options are frequently available for a set price per person, which can be a good value.

What are some popular appetizers to try at Indian restaurants in Indianapolis?

Indian appetizers, or starters, are a fantastic way to begin your meal. Popular choices include Samosas – crispy pastries filled with spiced potatoes and peas – Pakoras – vegetable fritters dipped in chickpea flour batter – and Dahi Puri – hollow puri shells filled with yogurt, chutneys, and spices. Many restaurants also offer Tandoori chicken skewers or seekh kebabs, marinated in flavorful spices and cooked in a tandoor oven.

How do Indian restaurants typically prepare their naan bread?

Naan bread is a staple accompaniment to Indian meals. Most Indianapolis Indian restaurants prepare naan bread fresh in a tandoor oven, a cylindrical clay oven that cooks the bread quickly and imparts a smoky flavor. The dough is tossed in the air by the chef, creating a light and airy texture. Some restaurants may also offer variations like garlic naan or butter naan, which are brushed with garlic and butter after baking.

What are some traditional Indian beverages you might encounter?

Beyond water and soda, Indian restaurants often serve traditional Indian beverages. Chai, a spiced black tea with milk and spices like cardamom, ginger, and cloves, is a very popular choice. Lassi, a yogurt-based drink, comes in sweet and savory varieties. Mango lassi is a sweet and creamy favorite, while mint lassi offers a refreshing, cooling taste. Many restaurants also offer masala tea – a blend of black tea and spices – which is a comforting beverage.

Are Indian restaurants in Indianapolis generally accommodating to dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free)?

While not all Indian restaurants in Indianapolis are equally equipped to cater to dietary restrictions, many are becoming increasingly aware of the need for gluten-free, dairy-free, and other specialized options. It’s always best to inform your server about any allergies or dietary needs when making your reservation and ordering. Many restaurants can modify dishes to accommodate requests, such as substituting rice for naan or omitting dairy from curries. Inquire about ingredients and preparation methods to ensure a safe and enjoyable meal.

What is the experience like at a typical Indian restaurant in Indianapolis?

The dining experience at an Indian restaurant in Indianapolis varies depending on the restaurant’s style. Some establishments are casual and family-friendly, offering a buffet-style meal with a wide range of dishes. Others are more fine-dining, with a curated menu and a more sophisticated atmosphere. Generally, you can expect friendly service, flavorful food, and a lively ambiance – often enhanced by traditional Indian music and décor. Reservations are often recommended, especially during peak hours.

What are some recommended Indian restaurants in Indianapolis based on recent reviews?

Several Indian restaurants in Indianapolis consistently receive positive reviews. Tandoori Grill is a popular choice known for its authentic tandoori dishes and extensive menu. Natraj Indian Cuisine is another highly-rated restaurant praised for its flavorful curries and generous portions. Bombay Club Indian Bistro offers a modern take on Indian classics and has a diverse menu. Online review sites, such as Yelp and Google Reviews, can offer valuable insights and recommendations from other diners.

How busy are Indian restaurants in Indianapolis typically?

The level of busyness at Indian restaurants in Indianapolis can vary depending on the day of the week, time of day, and the specific location. Weekends, particularly Friday and Saturday evenings, tend to be the busiest times. Lunch service is generally less crowded than dinner service. It’s advisable to make a reservation, especially for larger groups or during peak hours, to avoid long waits.
