The first impression at Eddie Merlot’s is polished and inviting, with a quiet, upscale ambience that pairs well with a thoughtful menu. The service is consistently attentive without being intrusive, and our server offered expert guidance on cuts and portions. From the moment you sit down, you notice careful pacing, well-timed courses, and a focus on quality that elevates the dining experience.
For a truly memorable meal, the steaks are the stars, perfectly seared with a rich crust and juicy interior. Sides and sauces complement the meat without overpowering it, and the wine list offers solid choices for pairing. The dining room maintains a calm rhythm, making it easy to relax and savor the moment, while the bill reflects fair value for the quality and service received.

Customer Reviews
The food was fantastic, however the service did leave a bit to be desired. Food was rather slow to arrive and took a long time to clear empty plates. That said, the manager was attentive and was quick to address the issues. We sat in the bar area and were impressed by the overall atmosphere of the restaurant.
The menu offered a large selection of apps and sides, and was reasonably priced for an upscale restaurant. The pot stickers and back wrapped bbq shrimp were both excellent. Steaks were well seasoned and cooked to perfection, though you could tell they sat for a bit before being brought to the table. The calamari was a bit undercooked and oysters had bits of shell in them, but overall the food was really good.
I would certainly recommend, great menu options and good food at reasonable prices for this type of establishment.

Our waitress, Toyosi, was amazing. She was kind, prompt and provided us a fantastic experience. If you’re able to request a waitress I would highly recommend her. Also, the food came out absolutely perfect. Our party of 11 didn’t have a single complaint!

The service was spectacular from start to finish. This was our first time visiting the restaurant and it had lovely decor. The bisque was delightful as was the hot buttery bread. Mashed potatoes were divine. I had the Faroe Island salmon which was a bit dry and lacking in flavor. My friend had the steak and loved it. Overall a great outing.

Stephen my waiter and Jess made my meal. They went above ad beyond to give me exceptional service. The trio medallions were excellent. The shrimp cocktail and wedge were delicious. The food, service was an extremely enjoyable experience. Both Jess and Stephen took time to explain the menu.

The food ess very good. The service is very friendly and always good. The manager comes by and checks on you. The place has good drink menu. If you are in a hurry, advise your server to fire you food at the same time as appetizers. Couple of the seats need repairs. Always enjoy my food from this location.

What a delicious, wonderful anniversary dinner! And our server, Steven, made the evening that much more special. From friendly conversation to prompt, exacting service, our celebration was complete! The grilled romaine salad was a favorite, but not better than the Bananas Foster!

Lamest White Russian ever. Devour Indy visit. Had upsized filet with crab bisque soup plus chocolate cake. Steak 100% edible no gristle and tender worth it. Soup so smooth and creamy flavorful. Cake portion huge and puts the meal carbs in overdrive. Decor a tad opulent gaudy and dated but likely catering not to yuppiedom when z eta but to senior deep picketers. Service strong but ended slightly down after $ paid with higher than usually requested print gratuity no direct eye contact which is telltale snub of the subtle sort. 4 not 5 stars not 100%. What could have been…

From start to finish, The Journey delivers a thoughtful, customer-first experience that makes complex plans feel simple. The consultation was patient and expertly organized, with concrete steps and realistic timelines. I appreciated how the team listened, asked precise questions, and translated goals into a structured itinerary that respected my budget. The platform is intuitive, and the responsive support team answered questions quickly, keeping me confident as I moved forward.
The Journey service delivers value that exceeded expectations with flexible options that adapted to last-minute changes. I especially valued the transparent pricing and the way milestones were clearly communicated. It felt less like a purchase and more like a guided experience, where every decision aligned with personal goals. If you’re seeking reliable guidance and a calm, well-paced process, I highly recommend this service.

This evening was nostalgic, to say the least.
When we first moved to Indy, this was one of our favorite places to eat as a family.
Although it has been years, it was on the top of my daughter’s birthday dinner list !
And once again you all do not disappoint.
Decor is beautiful, calming & inviting.
There’s a nice variety of food.
I say no matter your taste palette there’s something for everyone !
Something could be a bit warmer, and possibly a monitor should be added in order to maintain your freshest &Warmest platers at all times.
Customer service is my bread and butter!
It always saddens me when I have a slightly poor experience. I can understand a long day
And frustration, the anxiety of the busy line ahead.
Just remember to breathe and smile.
I won’t go too much into detail but I can say my greeting could have been more pleasant.
Got another birthday this Libra season.
So journeys we shall, Meet again.
Clean tables, And SilverWare.

The place is nicely decorated and very clean. The service was good. Our waiter was very observant but not overbearing. He was very polite. The food was great, but we came early and were there for a while, and once the bar ran out of crab, they were not refilling it at all. But once again, my daughter found to be the best, so we will definitely come again. N it was definitely friendly to all.

I was looking for a restaurant for a Valentine’s Day date with my wife, and the thirty places I checked with to make reservations the day before were all booked. Fortunately for us, The Journey doesn’t take reservations. We arrived at 4:45. They begin seating for dinner at 5:00 and we were one of the first guests seated. It was good that we were there early because they quickly got busy. Our server, Emma, was friendly and checked on us often. Having her as our server definitely made our visit more enjoyable.
The buffet had a good variety of seafood options with several choices available, and everything I tasted was pretty good (though nothing was great).
The decor was a quirky combination of modern and retro, with some of the fixtures being very worn. The restaurant was cleanish; it probably could have been a little cleaner, but it wasn’t too bad.
Would I visit The Journey again? Probably not, but it was a good experience overall.

We visited The Journey Buffet for the first time. It was my oldest bday. The server made a cake for him topped with whipped cream & chocolate drizzle. Sang happy birthday to him. The buffet had a great selection of seafoods. For the younger kids they had a hard time finding some meat choices. This restaurant is geared towards the seafood side. Our kept on the plate removal. Never refilled out drinks. Very expensive to dine here.

I hate to use the word Horrible, but the service here is the worse!! I have never been at place where you have to give them the plates or keep asking for refills However, when they are ready for you to go the came to the table every 30 seconds asking for payment!!! I do not recommend this place and our family is done with this place. Last time we came here, the crab legs smelled like ammonia, and they acted like they did not smell anything. Consider your warning.

I’d never heard of Tony’s and was invited for a date. I arrived and was greeted and seated quickly while waiting for my date. The staff were all friendly and happy to explain their offerings. The atmosphere, food, and drinks were all excellent. Our server overheard us mentioning it was a first date and surprised us with a complimentary dessert and celebratory candle, which I thought was such a nice touch. I definitely plan to go back whenever I’m in town again.

Tony’s is a well-known and popular steakhouse in downtown Indianapolis. This spot serves up the best porterhouse cooked to absolute perfection. This spot prepares and grills the best and most mouthwatering cuts of beef. We ordered a side of horseradish au gratin potatoes as well as freshly grilled asparagus. Our table also enjoyed the Pasta Pescatore (seafood pasta), the greek salad, and the complimentary bread and butter.
Tony’s even offers fantastic live entertainment on the weekends. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is sophisticated yet inviting. This was my first time visiting Tony’s of Indianapolis, but it definitely won’t be the last time!

A foodies review- We dined at Tony’s for my birthday. Everything was absolutely amazing from the food to the service. We started with the crab cake, oysters (meaty, briney, absolutely delicious), and calamari. Crab cake was out of this world! The Chilean Seabass was beautifully plated and the flavors nicely balanced. Steaks were cooked to perfection. The serving sizes are large and you really feel like you’re getting your moneys worth. Overall 10/10!!!

This place had been recommended so many times, however I never had a chance to visit this place.
The moment I entered, I was greeted with smile on her face. I told, I have a reservation. They gave me very good table. The ambinace is just amazing.
They have a good selection of wines and I had asked for specific one and I had mentioned in my reservation.
The steak is just amazing, I tried NY Strip steak, medium rare, it was just perfect.
I will surely return.

So we got a craving for a boil. We googled the top 3 locations. We selected based on travel length for location, and Yummy was the closest. We was greeted and seated without a wait even though we arrived at what I would consider mid dinner, but was pleasantly surprised to find the place nice and quiet. Video will show this.
Server came after we sat and our drinks arrived moments after. Having already studied the menu prior to arrival, we was ready. Appetizers orders and our entrees selected we ordered all st once. Toss a rack of King crab legs in that boil while you’re at it., they did.
Barely halfway thru my first drink, the appetizers arrive steaming. Catfish I mean was delicious. Without time to finish, which if they was eyeing us closer would have timed the arrival of our next placement, after the removal of our empty appetizer dishes. But the server was pleasant so that was easily overlooked.
Popping the boil open and the aroma that followed took me into the deep south. I dug in. Being cooked in the same Sauces, Everly item had it’s unique flavor. This was completed a very enjoyful weekend. I can see us returning which we will see if we can elevate this rating to a higher level. Thank you.

Decided to give ‘Yummy Crab’ a try and was not disappointed. The service was good, the food was good, the prices were good, good portions of food for the price as well. We started with some very good ‘Cheese sticks & Hush puppies’, I had the ‘Cat fish & cajun fries’ and the wife had the ‘Shrimp basket’. Easy menu with up-front prices make a first time experience a breeze. We will definitely be back.

The food was good. The workers were very friendly. The food was averagely priced. And there was plenty of parking. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back. They were singing happy birthday to a little girl while we were there. The Happy Birthday song what’s playing over the intercom it was so cute.

The Shaking Crab is the other half of Wings Mania: two restaurants for the price of one!
They share a cash register, kitchen and menu but have two separate signs and entrances. An interesting business model
The seafood boil is popular and reasonably priced. There was a steady stream of customers. The atmosphere was very plain and simple, no music, no WiFi, not very adequate air conditioning but it does the trick for a seafood boil.
A lot of the customers seem to be returning regulars, always a good sign!
Pro Tip
They have a variety of smoothies and they are quite good. The avocado smoothie is my personal favourite but the mango is quite good too.

I’ve read the reviews, and everyone’s entitled to their own opinion. Mine is: ITS GREAT! I’ve eaten here several times, always TO GO, and its always good! Had it for dinner tonight, and it was GREAT! I had 1/2 lb Clams, 1/2 lb Mussels, 1/2 lb Scallops. Came with corn and Potatoes. Yes, the potatoes were larger than you would expect in a boil, but so what?!? The were still cook to perfection and tasty! Will continue to go back!!! Sorry, didn’t get a before pic, was to concerned with DIGGIN IT! LOL! 🙂 Also, I got the Shaking Sauce, Medium…. SOOO GOOD!!!

So if you going to the shaking crab the entrance and the service is next door at wings… I’m not sure if it’s become because I came on weekday or if it’s because the Crab side is closed. Anyway it was very fast and very clean and very good! I got a pound of blue crab plus half a pound of clams plus half a pound of crawfish! It’s a typical boil it comes with pieces of corn and a few potatoes in the sauce you want. I chose spicy hot Cajun! And it was the bomb!
Cost is very fair! 27$ for all this amazing.
Bathroom is clean. Lots of to go traffic in but I can’t imagine taking a seafood boil to go what a mess! Bring wipes! Soooo good only one thing I’m missing. My sweetheart honey bear.

I gave the Shaking Crab 5 stars because I rated it based on its category. If I rated against a Red Lobster type of restaurant, it would only get 3 stars. But you automatically know when you decide to go, it’s not going to be a Red Lobster experience. So it’s not fair to rate it that way.
This was an amazing experience for a small retail restaurant. The food was very flavorful and, in my opinion, appropriately priced. I can’t wait to go back.

So I did enjoy the food for the most part. Until it got salty salty. The customer service just wasn’t there for me. Use lower sodium seasonings. I got the boil with crab legs shrimp and extra potatoes. The extra potatoes i received were bigger then the ones I had included. The customer service experience could of been slightly better. I had the 3 blend seasoning.

When I order the food I pick it up 30 minutes later and it is never ready. I ordered snow crab and shrimp. All three seasonings hot. The seasoning taste extremely hot and I couldn’t taste the other flavors. The crablegs were overcooked and mushy. They gave me one overly huge potato that was so big it look like it was on steroids. I’m not eating no potato that is the same size of a Cantaloupe. Ridiculous. I don’t think I’m going back.

Most crab restaurants in the city offer a mix of crab legs (often king crab or snow crab), crab cakes, and crab salads. You’ll also see crab boil-style platters in some seafood spots, along with fried crab appetizers and creamy crab soups or chowders. For regional flavors, look for Maryland-style preparations or Cajun-inspired sauces. Many menus pair crab with sides like corn on the cob, old bay butter, or steamed vegetables.
Are there vegetarian options if someone does not eat shellfish?
Yes. While the focus is on crab, many places offer a selection of non-shellfish entrées such as salad bowls, grilled chicken, steamed vegetables, and vegetarian sides. Some menus include shrimp or fish alternatives for mixed-diet groups. If you need strict avoidance of shellfish, ask the staff about cross-contact precautions and dedicated preparation areas.
Do Indianapolis crab restaurants offer takeout or delivery?
Most places provide takeout and delivery options, often through third-party apps or direct ordering. When ordering, you can request heated packaging and precooked crab that travels well. For parties or events, some restaurants offer family-style or bulk orders with clear serving sizes.
What should I know about pricing and portions for crab dishes?
Crab pricing typically varies by crab type (e.g., king, snow, or dungeness), weight, and whether you choose à la carte or set platters. All-you-can-eat options may exist in a few spots, but most menus price by pound or by the item. Be mindful of additional fees such as service charges or tax. When in doubt, ask for a clear price quote before ordering.
Is all-you-can-eat crab common in Indianapolis?
All-you-can-eat crab is not typical in many Indianapolis seafood venues, though some restaurants run special promotions or weekend events featuring large crab legs. If this is your priority, check the restaurant’s schedule or call ahead to confirm offerings and any seasonal constraints. Expect higher demand on weekends, so reservations can help secure your preference.
What family-friendly options exist at crab restaurants?
Many crab spots are suitable for families, offering a kid-friendly menu, smaller portions, and easy-to-eat options like crab cakes or fried bites. Look for cafeteria-style service or casual seating, as well as high chairs and parking lots. Some locations also provide coloring sheets or kids’ meals to keep young diners entertained.
Which neighborhoods are best for crab restaurants in Indianapolis?
Several neighborhoods concentrate good seafood options, including Downtown Indianapolis, Broad Ripple, and Mass Ave. There are also notable spots in Castleton and near Fishers and Noblesville in the metro area. When choosing, consider parking availability, evening noise, and the size of the dining room for your party. Exploring multiple neighborhoods can reveal a broader range of crab preparations.
Are crab restaurants in Indianapolis committed to sustainability?
Many reputable spots publish seafood sourcing information and may pursue sustainability certifications or partner with local suppliers. If sustainability matters to you, ask staff about where the crab comes from, whether it’s wild-caught or farmed, and if the restaurant follows fishing guidelines. Some menus include MSCs or other recognized markers of responsible sourcing.
What should I know about allergies and cross-contact when dining on crab?
Crab allergies are a serious concern, so always notify the restaurant staff about any allergies before ordering. Request separate utensils, and confirm that seafood is prepared in a dedicated area to minimize cross-contact. If you have a severe reaction, be prepared with emergency epinephrine if prescribed, and consider ordering from places with clear allergen policy.
