Calista grooms our Dalmatian puppy and we will not be going anywhere else! Our dog always comes home smelling so good and is so soft! They do such an amazing job here. Prices are amazing as well! It’s hard to find someone you trust, so I’m glad I don’t have to worry about that! I just drop her off and run my errands until she’s ready. Always such a great experience!

We take our Rocky here for grooming. Ally is the best! She’s the only person we trust and he trusts her as well. It’s always clean, the staff is knowledgeable and the prices are great. Large selection of products too.

Not very happy. First time using them to get my Shih Tzu groomed. Wanted face rounded didn’t happen, and tail not cut, didn’t happen! Cut her tail short and face not rounded. Paid $70 and Alley didn’t mention she cut her paw/toenail. Phoebe was bleeding! I chose Pet Supplies because they were closer than our other groomer and very disappointed. Also, blow drying was included in the price and she said she didn’t blow dry her just let her sit in the crate. Phoebe is home licking her paw she is in pain. Might need to take her to the vet to get checked out! Upset with this whole experience!

Love this particular store. They are the only store to have my babies food. Everytime I go in their staff are friendly and accommodating. I drive from Avon to get my babies food, litter etc.

Had our dog groomed here by a girl named Maxx and it was a terrible experience. Pretty sure I paid $60 for absolutely nothing, our pup didn’t look any different than when we dropped him off nor did he smell any better. Additionally, I asked her to outline his legs and tail and trim around the ears, even paid extra and clearly it was not done. It was late in the evening and I had one of my young daughters with me so we weren’t up for staying and arguing but we definitely will not be returning here…ever.

Dropping off my dog at Barkefellers – Indianapolis South, I felt confident in their care. The professional staff and clean facility set a reassuring tone for boarding and training.
During the stay, updates were timely, and the personalized training plan helped my dog settle quickly. The team’s care and communication felt genuine, and I left reassured; I’d happily recommend Barkefellers – Indianapolis South to any owner seeking a safe, supportive home away from home.

Took my puppy Ember in to Barkefellers for boarding and training for two weeks while I was in Colorado.
After I returned and picked up my little furry friend. She was a different dog! I have continued to train her at home with the instructions that barkefellers sent with me. She is doing very well! She listens to me more closely and follows every command. She is all around just a more behaved dog. I highly recommend! Thank you, Barkefellers!

Barkefellers South has helped my rambunctious puppy, Murphy, in so many ways. They gladly worked with us when she first started going, as she was very timid and too scared to do group play. Today, she plays with all the dogs in group, & gets so excited to “go to school”. We are always greeted kindly, and Murphy is shown plenty of affection & care when I drop her off for the day. I feel good knowing that she is there, safe & being cared for by the wonderful staff that I have encountered during the past 3 months. The two week training with Jess really helped with Murphy’s behaviors. Jess also helped me with alternative approaches specifically for situations/behaviors with Murphy.
I will continue to bring Miss Murphy to Barkefellers South because she loves her friends there, and it is a very friendly, healthy environment.

My dog absolutely loved it there. I received many phone calls about how my dog was doing which I’m so thankful for. He was boarded for the stay school for two weeks and I honestly felt so comfortable and relaxed knowing my dog was taken care of. I couldn’t recommend them enough!!

We had a great experience with this boarding our pup Lily over the weekend. Our pup was well taken care of and clearly received lots of attention. She wasn’t eating much at first, but the staff went above and beyond by offering her special food to encourage her appetite. They even followed up with a phone call after her stay to check in on how she was doing, which really meant a lot. The pricing is on the higher side, especially with the à la carte options for extra items and services, but overall, the care and attention she received made it worth it.

Dalainey was amazing. My pup had some bad matting and Dalainey did an excellent job of making sure my Mochi was comfortable. She took extra time and was so kind. I opted to name her my preferred groomer (but I’ve never had a bad experience taking a dog to Barkefellars; they hire very good people). I would highly recommend both the facility and the groomer to anyone looking for such services.

We trust Barkefellers with our fur baby. They give her special attention while we’re gone and we can call for updates when we’re missing her. Also, the access to video of her room and the play areas is awesome. Being able to check on her and see her on video gives us a piece of mind.

Picked-up my dog with 3 over-clipped nails, causing pain and bleeding. (dog is still limping and appears to be tender in one leg.) In addition the tip of the tail appears to have been trimmed – this despite no request to do so. Service was to be only for a brush and bath. advised that If she refused her nails to not worry about them. Recommend go elsewhere.”

I get my bichon frise groomed here. They have been grooming her for almost 3 years. I have been slow to make a review but this last visit made me want to. They are so patient with her. She is comfortable now and it gives me peace. She gets her feet dyed since she’s white it helps her not look so dirty. The price is so reasonable and their new location is convenient. I recommend. I have not tried the new boarding option, but I trust when I do it will be a great experience.

We had a fantastic experience at J&J Pet Grooming. We had scheduled appointments for our dogs at a large pet store, but upon arrival, they were denied service because they were on anxiety medication. We contacted J&J, and they kindly allowed us to bring our dogs in that very day for a grooming session. While our dogs aren’t usually the easiest to groom, we picked them back up looking and smelling absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be returning customers in the future.

I recently visited Broad Ripple Canine Design for my dog’s grooming and was impressed by their professional approach and comforting atmosphere. The team demonstrated thoughtful care, from gentle handling to meticulous trimming that kept my dog’s natural shape. Communication was clear, updates came promptly, and the owner clearly prioritizes the dog’s well-being. I appreciated their attention to safety and hygiene, along with a nearby cooling mat and a calm waiting area. Quality and trust stood out.
From my first inquiry through pickup, Broad Ripple Canine Design showed thoughtful care for senior or anxious dogs, with soothing handling and clear guidance on grooming options. The result was a natural cut that respected breed traits while keeping the coat healthy, plus a gentle, hygienic studio that felt homely. I left confident in their expertise, and I would recommend the team for anyone seeking reliable care and consistent attention to comfort.

We gave our dog for his first haircut. I can cut my dog like that too! And I also do NOT know how to do it! Why would I take him to a salon for this?? We just got a dog that was almost shaved bald in the winter. Now my dog sleeps by the heater because she is cold. Dogs are not cut that short in the winter! Although my husband showed you a photo of the haircut we would like to get and we said that the body does not need to be cut short! We did not get anything close to this. I also have a grooming kit and it has a 7 mm cutting attachment that cuts short without any transitions between parts of the dog’s body. This is not the kind of haircut you pay money for! You need to study to be a groomer and understand what season and how much hair needs to be cut from different dog breeds so that the dog does not freeze! Plus, you need to be able to give the coat the desired shape depending on the breed of the dog. All dogs have different hair patterns. This is an obvious fact that a groomer should know. But of course it is more convenient to cut everyone’s hair the same way and not worry! Right? The tail was not cut at all. The eyes were cut off, so she looks like a sick dog! The belly is completely shaved bald! In winter! Now I will have to buy a warm jumpsuit for walks. Even the beautiful eyebrows are almost cut off. I am writing this because I have something to compare with. Believe me! We received a dog simply clipped with a machine, and not a beautiful haircut. I am attaching here a photo of how we cut it ourselves and how it was before and what kind of haircut we got after the salon. You can compare! Before this it was a cute teddy bear, but it turned out to be a mangy poodle! We took the dog at 9.00 in the morning and picked it up only at 3.00 in the afternoon. And the groomer was 20 minutes late. And this is actually a working day!! So! 6 hours! What we got took 6 hours? This means that the hairdressers in the salon do not understand their qualifications and cannot determine how long it will take to cut a particular breed of dog. Or they simply do not respect other people’s time.

Dropped Maggie off @ 9 AM for her apt with Justin. He wasn’t there , she said I’ll have him call you when he gets here to go over Maggie’s haircut. Never called me, I called around 3:30 to see if she was done. They said 4:45. They handed her to me at 5 PM and after a quick hand off “she did great make sure she pees before getting in the car okay have a good day” We are finally home and I can’t believe this was $110, choppiest haircut ever, random long strands of hair, her paws
look terrible, this was definitely so rushed. If you can’t groom golden doodles/poodles just say so instead of doing this. And I don’t want a reply with dumb excuses. We will not be coming back.

I took my dog to this place three times. A female groomer did an okay job (but still not the best compared to my dog’s previous groomer in Virginia). The second time, a male groomer cut her VERY ugly… I also told him not to cut my dog’s ear hair. However, he accidentally cut part of her ear hair, which we had for over a year. The tear stains and eye boogers were also still on my dog’s face. The third time, I requested service from the first female groomer. I asked them when would be the latest time I could arrive (I live in West Lafayette). They told me 9 am. Then, when I arrived at 9:05 am, the female groomer showed up with a grumpy face and told me she only accepts dogs from 8-8:30 am. After she realized that it was their front desk lady who told me to come at 9 am, she still looked at the clock on the wall with a mad face when I was talking to her. Okay. Then, I finished whatever I needed to do in Indianapolis, so I arrived at their place slightly earlier. Then, the female groomer, whom I requested to groom my dog, was walking another dog outside. She looked at me awkwardly and said my dog would be done soon. Another male groomer was cutting my dog’s hair. When he put my dog on her leash, he also used the leash the wrong way. When we went back home, I also noticed that her breast was red and painful to touch. Finally, let’s see the differences between my dog’s previous groomer’s fantastic job and the “artwork” in the pic. Never go back again. To be honest, I’m speechless.
Edit 1: Instead of apologizing to customers, it seems like they prefer adding fake five star reviews. After my review, all of the sudden, all the long term customers started to talk about their experience of years in the review. Isn’t it interesting?
Edit 2: Okay. After I commented on your abnormal increase of long-term customers’ positive reviews, you finally responded to me quickly—after a month of my review. Otherwise, you only “contacted the customers to leave you five-star reviews” and clicked and liked these “five-star reviews.”
“I seemed very happy??” I did not post anything after the second ugly haircut, because I thought it was just one time, one groomer’s job. (note the pink jacket pics were from this time. The groomer cut part of my dog’s right ear fur, making her look asymmetrical. It took my dog one year to have this length. I don’t think you can solve the problem by a simple re-trim – her right ear fur is still weird right now, three months after the damage. I told the groomer, “Do not cut her ear hair,” right before he took my dog. Moreover, on her left eye, tear stains and eye boogers were still there after grooming. Her body hair was uneven as well.) After the second time of grooming, I booked your service again and specifically requested the first female groomer’s service. Then what have I got? The female groomer was annoyed at me “being late” – It was your management team’s fault for not communicating well within your team. You said I did not communicate with you/call you. However, when I was talking to the groomer about my expectations for the third time grooming, she was looking at the clock with an annoyed face. She said in a condescending way, “because your dog is small, I can still accept her.” You messed up with the meeting time, not me. Even if my dog was large, you still needed to accept her, with a friendly face- cuz it was your fault, not your customer’s fault. In the end, by arriving at your place slightly earlier, I found out that she was walking another dog rather than grooming my dog. 🙂 I sincerely hope you can reflect on your management and how your groomers treat customers and do their job rather than adding all the positive reviews. – benefit yourself in the long run plz. Also. Thanks for calling me Ma’am but calling all other reviewer’s names, makes you sound like a racist. You are welcome.
For other customers – if you want to have negative experiences in such a holistic way, Broad Ripple Canine Design is the right place to go.

It was our pups first visit, she explained why they needed the cut she was going to do. She let us know what item to use to comb through their type of fur.

Highly recommend! They are by far the best place I have ever taken my dog to get his nails cut. Walked in with Bo, who hates his paws to be touched, and he was done in less than five minutes. He did not seem to be upset or anxious when we left.
Thank you for all you do. Bo and I appreciate you.

My dog was terrified of nail trims and the owners were so accommodating with her needs. Now nearly a year later she is finally no longer petrified getting her nails trimmed. She’s not a small dog either and most places would immediately want to muzzle her when all she really needed was love and patience. So thankful for these ladies! Also just wonderful customer service all around would absolutely recommend.

VERY disappointed. This was our second time going to Kara’s, the first was great however this one has us thinking that we will not be going back. The first photo was my mini bernedoodle when she went into, the second photo was the photo that I showed how I wanted the cut to look like, and the third photo is the cut that we got… The reason was a “little bit of matting in her inner leg and collar area” that “couldn’t be blended.” So I guess because it couldn’t be blended it meant shave her completely (including her nose and eyelashes). Also they had us make an appointment for 9:30, and she wasn’t ready for pick up until 2:00; not sure what the purpose of making an appointment was.

So I hate writing reviews but after seeing some of the negative reviews for Doggie Spa Indy I feel obligated.
First off – I absolutely LOVED our experience! I have a 5 month old mini Bernedoodle and this was both of our first times visiting a groomer. From the moment I reached out to ask about services I was able to get Kari in within 48 hours. The communication was amazing. I knew how to prepare, what to expect and felt at ease with dropping my fur baby off.
At drop off, I knew the estimated cost, duration, type of cut and how it may look different today versus the next time as we went shorter for the first cut. I was also told about the late pick up policy and understood it was more of a deterrent than hard and fast rule. After drop off, I had additional questions during the visit and received a prompt text response back. When I got the call she was ready for pickup, I let them know it would take me a bit longer to get back due to traffic and they were more than accommodating.
As Kari is my first doodle – they made sure to educate me on caring for her in between cuts and how to interact with her to help her acclimate to future visits. I am so appreciative of the staff, and all of the care they put into the spa experience down to the photo shoot at the end of the visit. My baby girl Kari is looking and smelling good ❤️
10/10 ⭐️ highly recommend!

I love this place. Reasonably priced, Jess does a great job with my dog. Always takes the time to assess if anything has changed with him. Offers advice to help with new bad habits (and they work!). Everyone here is professional but friendly and welcoming.
UPDATE: 7/7/25 I still take Yogi to this groomer. Shirley is so good with him. Today he cracked a nail down to the quick. I called for help. They took care of his nail and recommended pads for his broken nail. I will remain loyal to this place forever.

I really wanted to like this place. I was forced to find a new groomer (she sadly left the profession). My vet recommended this place, and I came in with high hopes. You have to make an appointment, which is just fine, but then doesn’t tell you an estimated time to pick up. Maybe it’s just a learning curve for me, but the way it was presented seemed rude and uncaring. I dropped my kids off before their scheduled time (10:30) and didn’t get a text until 10 till 5 saying they would be ready to pick up at that time.
When I picked my kids up, they stated that Waylon showed his teeth. I told them in the beginning that he was nervous and a rescue. I said that I did give him some calming meds (calming chews) before he came, and they said that they weren’t supposed to take pets on meds. Which confused me because whomever I spoke to previously said it wasn’t a problem.
Overall, my kids looked okay. The shave was shorter in spots, and you can see their pink skin, mainly on Waylon (I am hoping it isn’t a burn). Maybe it was my description of what I wanted or maybe how they acted. Again, learning I get it. But the interaction with the main women at the front left a bad impression. I didn’t feel welcomed, and it made me concerned for my fur kids.

DONT BE FOOLED BY THE GOOD REVEWS!!!!
The 2nd time we went this is what occurred and instead of an apology I am kind of told it was already there or that I discussed it with them and my 13 pound Cavalier can’t come back lol we definitely don’t have too and won’t recommend to anyone.
You would think my pup nipped the groomer instead of the groomer nipping him! !
Just AVOID THIS PLACE. Your pup will thank you.

Good Dog Hotel & Spa provides dependable care for every pup. The staff greet dogs warmly, the facilities feel clean, and grooming and daycare are handled with calm expertise. My pup stayed comfortably and seemed relaxed, which says a lot about the attention to safety and wellbeing. The overall experience is reassuring for any dog owner.
Owners will appreciate transparent communication and consistent comfort for their canine companions, returning with happy tails and renewed energy.

Our first time at Good Dog today will definitely have us coming back for more! My puppy had his first haircut, we know he can be a lot to handle, but Courtney did amazing work with him, and everyone was so kind towards his behavior. With more than fair pricing, we’re looking forward to using the daycare service as well. The entire process was so polite and professional. If you’re nervous with your pet for any reason, look no further. Photo of my happy boy on the ride home!

This place is chaotic and there is different information each time. They have mixed up my dog with another dog and do not seem to keep paperwork organized. The staff cares, but there is a major lack in professionalism and more importantly transparency. If you are looking for pet boarding, this one is fine and your pet will be cared for but consider somewhere else to save yourself the headache of having to call multiple times to find an answer. Self service grooming is very nice.

The staff was friendly but it was very loud and chaotic. Both of the services I received were unable to be completed in full and I was told I still had to pay full price. Between the constant dog barking heard throughout the whole building and the chaotic staff it’s no wonder why the dogs are anxious. I can only imagine how stressful this type of work environment is but some dogs need a little more patience and a peaceful environment and that wasn’t offered the 2 times we came in. The groomer I used before had no problems grooming my dog the 5 plus times she did.

I usually had a good experience with this business, however this particular visit I learned they don’t have the proper staff to problem solve situations, such as simply cutting hair around a dogs eyes. I may consider their services in the future if they have proper staffing. However, in the meantime I will be looking for a different groomer.

Great place for grooming and boarding services . They are always courteous and gentle with Sugar, my dog. The call with reminders, which is helpful if you need to update shot records. They keep the reception area clean. I have been to some that smelled like a kennel throughout.
I added pics of sugar after her grooming. She is very relaxed and diva-ish afterwards.

My dog Apollo is pretty anxious since he’s an aussie but I’m anxious just because that me and our groomer was so knowledgeable about his breed, it immediately made me feel comfortable! This was my first visit and I do not love trying new groomers but she said apollo warmed up to her by the end and he look SO good! I’ll be back in 6 weeks for sure! Thank you so much!!

I really love supporting local business, but do not support gaslighting or neglect. Both of which we experienced at this doggy daycare. After 5 plus years of frequent visits to good dog hotel something changed in July of this past year. All of a sudden my very calm red golden retriever had severe anxiety to the point he was coming home with bloody paws from a weekend visit. No call when the instance started and then a very rude encounter from the staff upon pick up. Come to find out his paws were bleeding because he scratched at the door for 5 plus hours. To me this is neglect and there should have been a call and better solution before pick up.
After some awkward instances with the staff and an uncomfortable call with the manager we were told that the only solution to “help” our dog was to put him in a bigger space. This bigger space almost doubled our nightly fee and we were now also forced into doggy daycare every day putting us at a bill of almost $500 for a 3 night stay. When we vocalized that this was out of our price range we were told unless we medicated our again very calm dog (which even the vet didn’t think he needed) and maybe not even then we were no longer welcome back. As a customer I’m very disappointed by this establishments ability to work with their customers on a need basis. Every time we brought up the issues we were greeted with rude tones and gaslighting behavior, changing stories to always somehow placing the blame on us even though we always payed our bills on time and tried to abide by their rules. We always want the best for our dog. Just don’t want any of our neighbors to have a similar experience.

Hollywood Dogs Grooming Spa delivers professional, friendly care that puts both pets and owners at ease. From the moment I arrive, the team explains each step, checks my dog’s special needs, and treats him with gentle attention and respect. The grooming is thorough without feeling rushed, and the calm environment helps reduce stress for anxious pups. I notice detail, clean coats, and clean finishes that last beyond the appointment.
What stands out at Hollywood Dogs Grooming Spa is consistent quality and a care-first approach that makes every visit predictable in the best way. My dog looks cheerful, his coat is soft, and the styling fits his personality perfectly. I appreciate the transparent communication about products and timing, plus the warm handling that makes grooming feel like a spa experience rather than a chore for my furry friend.

The first time I brought my two small dogs to them, they did a good job. However, they must have changed groomers because this time was a very bad experience, I did not quite realize until I brought my two dogs home and realized one of them has an eye that is now swollen shut from being mishandled by them. He is 12 yrs old and about 13 lbs, very gentle, and has never bitten anyone in the 10 years I’ve had him. However, they informed me before giving him back that they may have nicked him and his cut was uneven because he growled at them and they were afraid he would bite them. I told them that is understandable and I that I was sorry that he gave them a hard time and tipped them $40 ($20 of which went to the person at the front desk for some reason, I thought that was odd but said nothing). When I got them home, I noticed one of my dogs extremely anxious and the other lethargic with a swollen shut eye. I’m not sure what was done to them, but both seem traumatized this time around. I sincerely hope my dog’s vision is not affected. I will be taking them to the vet on Saturday to get checked out. Very sad and disappointed I could not trust them with my pups.

UPDATE: I did receive a call from owner Gale. Giving me a free grooming next time. Was sorry for any misunderstanding.
I had my dog groomed there and was disappointed with the professionalism of the owner. I had cash to pay but my daughter took off thinking I paid already so I gave her my card when she picked my dog up. Owner asked her if I was tipping and I said no. She turned to the groomer and said to her loudly did you her her melissa she’ll bring you your tip later. How rude. I wanted to make sure my shepherd was dry like I asked because the last time she wasn’t totally. I didn’t have a problem with melissa groom but the owner is quite rude. She’s the 1 star for. If you can stand her then the groomers are good and professional.

Just got Daisy back from SnipIts and she looks amazing! Her coat is super soft, trimmed perfectly, and she smells so good. You can tell they really take their time and care about the details.
The staff was incredibly friendly, courteous, and understanding—even though I showed up a bit late. They didn’t make me feel rushed or judged, just kind and professional all the way through.
Thanks to the team for making Daisy look and feel her best—we’ll definitely be coming back!

I’m extremely disappointed with the lack of communication from this grooming service. Today, I was informed after the fact that my dog’s ears had been shaved due to matting discovered during the bath. While I understand that matting needs to be addressed for the dog’s comfort, I should have been contacted before such a drastic decision was made.
As a pet owner, I expect to be consulted before any major changes to my dog’s appearance. This is not the first time I’ve experienced communication issues here, and it makes me question whether my preferences and input are truly valued.
If customer service and transparency were prioritized, this could have been handled much better. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who wants to be actively involved in decisions about their pet’s care.

***Public Response***
I am disappointed by this response, as it contains misleading and false claims. My dog has never been neglected, and I have records proving that I take proper care of her. I was not informed before a major grooming decision was made, which is why I expressed my concerns in the first place. Instead of taking responsibility for the lack of communication, this business has chosen to publicly misrepresent the situation. I stand by my feedback and hope others consider this before using your services.

I have been a client of Snip Its going on four years. I have always had a positive outcome every time. They take such great care of my Yorky. Izzy, has always been the one that grooms my dog. She is so positive and upbeat every time I go in there. Whether it’s 7 AM or 11 AM she’s always smiling and ready to take her and groom her.. And I’m sure all the other groomers in there are extremely great with the other animals. I suggest you give them a try you won’t regret it.

Best Grooming service I’ve experienced out of the many I’ve taken my dogs to the past 45 years. Very thankful we found SnipIts after we moved to Franklin Township. The owner is on site, highly professional, hands on, very knowledgeable of animal care, oversees a very happy and safe environment for her employees and, of course, her “clients” (the dogs). The groomers are loving, highly skilled, and dedicated to the needs of the “clients” and their owners.

I recently took my golden retriever for a grooming appointment, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The staff did such a wonderful job with my dog, who was understandably scared of the blow dryer and the grooming table. They were incredibly patient and understanding, taking the time to help him feel comfortable throughout the entire process. He had some pretty bad mats but they made him look so cute and got them all out.
What I appreciated most was their excellent communication. They provided updates on how he was doing, which really put my mind at ease. It’s clear they genuinely care about the pets they work with. I will definitely be continuing to bring my golden here for grooming in the future. Highly recommend!

Frequently asked questions about pet grooming in Indianapolis
What services are typically offered by pet groomers in Indianapolis?
In Indianapolis, a typical grooming session includes a bath, brush-out, haircut or trim, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and sometimes anal gland expression depending on the facility. Some groomers provide specialty services like deep conditioning, flea and tick treatment, deshedding, or teeth brushing. It’s important to confirm what is included in the base price and what may be charged as add-ons. For cats, grooming is typically more focused on safety and comfort and can be more limited than for dogs.
How do I choose the right grooming facility in Indianapolis?
To choose a good facility in Indianapolis, look for licensing or insurance, a clean and organized space, and staff with training in animal handling. Ask for a tour to observe how pets are treated, inquire about safety protocols, and review references or online reviews. Verify the facility’s adherence to local regulations and check whether groomers have relevant certifications. A transparent and respectful team is a strong indicator of quality care.
What should I bring to my pet's grooming appointment?
Bring vaccination records if required by the facility, your pet’s medications, a familiar blanket or toy if your pet gets stressed, and a leash or carrier. Provide the groomer with a list of medical conditions, allergies, or sensitivities. If your pet has a preferred bath product or a scent they tolerate, share that information to help reduce stress.
How much does pet grooming cost in Indianapolis?
Prices vary by pet size, coat type, service level, and whether you need add-ons. A basic bath and brush for a small dog might be in a moderate range, while larger dogs or more complex services can increase the total. Cat grooming often costs more due to safety considerations. Expect potential extra charges for matted fur, heavily soiled coats, or specialized services. Always request a written estimate before the appointment to avoid surprises.
How often should my dog or cat be groomed?
Grooming frequency depends on your pet’s breed, coat type, and lifestyle. Long-haired or thick-coated pets need more regular trims to prevent mats, while shorter intervals may be sufficient for low-maintenance coats. Cats often benefit from grooming every 4-8 weeks, depending on hair length and shedding. Adjust the schedule to your pet’s comfort and coat condition.
Are there safety concerns I should know about in Indianapolis groomers?
Reputable groomers prioritize safety, with clean tools, proper restraint techniques, and a calm environment. Ask about hygiene practices, how they sanitize between pets, and how they handle anxious or aggressive animals. Ensure staff are trained in nail trimming to avoid quick injuries and that drying equipment is used safely to prevent overheating or injury.
What is included in a basic bath and brush service?
A typical basic service includes a gentle bath with a pet-friendly shampoo, a thorough rinse, a brush-out, and a blow-dry. Some facilities may offer a light trim if requested. Additional services such as ear cleaning or nail trim may be included or offered as add-ons. Always confirm what is included in the base price before booking.
Can grooming help with health problems?
Grooming can aid in the early detection of skin conditions, lumps, or dental issues when a trained groomer performs a careful check during the session. It is not a substitute for veterinary care, but alerting a groomer to changes can help you seek veterinary attention sooner. If you notice itching, redness, swelling, or new lumps, consult your veterinarian promptly.
What should I do if my pet has allergies or sensitive skin?
Inform the groomer about any known allergies and request hypoallergenic or fragrance-free products. A patch test on a small area can prevent reactions. For sensitive skin, ask for a gentler drying method and consider shorter grooming intervals or specialized shampoos designed for sensitive skin.
What are the cancellation and scheduling policies I should know in Indianapolis?
Most groomers use advance booking with policies around cancellations or rescheduling. A cancellation fee may apply for late changes, and peak seasons can affect availability. Plan ahead, and consider confirming your appointment a day or two before to help ensure your preferred time slot.
