There’s plenty of walk ways to get the blood flowing here. Or you can venture off the beaten path and walk the hills and fresh cut grass as well. Plenty of room and large if not massive trees to sit under when shade is needed. Fox squirrels are abundant and friendly, unless my beagle goes to howling at them! Very family oriented and quiet. A stage for music, arts and crafts along with friendly faces. Weekends are usually busy in the park.

So much fun! Mom and I walked in for a “pop in and paint.” Excellent service and great prices. The staff are very upbeat and funny.

Definitely give yourself as much time as possible, because some of these paintings have a lot of steps But the instructions are super easy to follow.

They have a LOT of pictures to choose from for your painting. I’ve added a picture of my choice from the binder with my resulting painting.

They also have drinks (alcoholic and non) and snacks (mostly bagged chips).

We saw they do painted wine glasses and custom candles too if you’re looking for something like that.

My birthday celebration at painting with a twist was amazing. The instructor was awesome. This is my second year going there and it won’t be the last. I highly recommend for an occasion or just to get out and do something fun. FYI you don’t have to be a painter

*Yes I hear you Peggy, being sick with COVID absolutely does not matter. I could come in and cough all over your patrons because of your inflexibility, is this what you’re saying? Please say that louder for the folks in the back. We’re listening.*
I signed up about one or two weeks ago for the cute Sanderson sisters gnome painting event. Super excited! However, I tested positive for Covid and the event is today. I have a major sore throat and a cough. Because of that cough, I asked to reschedule to another event or maybe when this one is offered again. She told us no. Less than 24 hour notice, you get a kit, and written instructions to do it at home. I’m tempted to show up anyway, feel like crap, and cough all over her patrons and explain to them why — that she absolutely was not willing to work with us, but I won’t because I care so much more about other’s health than she does. Just incredibly selfish. Unbelievable.
We spent $82 for a special night out, the whole point is doing it in person! I’m a visual learner, I cannot do this with “written instructions”. I’m never doing booking with her again. We’ve given her a lot of business, even had our daughter’s birthday party there. I am so disappointed and angry.

Stopped in for the first time on Sunday and I have mixed feelings about my experience. I thought the instructor Kaitlyn was personable but could have given more instruction. My painting didn’t come out exactly how I hoped but it’s not terrible, which i understand is my own shortcoming. Also, at the end when paying for my drink, this lady asks if I want to tip Kaitlyn – literally in front of Kaitlyn and the other guest in the room – I thought that was embarrassing and distasteful.

Art and nature interspersed to create a charming place to enjoy the outdoors. Kids can roam around with plenty to entertain them. There are places to look over the river. When we went there was a fun community art project inside where you create an ornament to add to a tree on the wall using recycled items. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely go back.

For years I had dreamed of having my wedding reception at the Indianapolis Art Center, and working with Mason and her team was a dream come true. My husband and I toured the facility 15 months before our big day and highly recommend approximately that time frame for a place as popular as this. The IAC referred us to our caterer, and set up our reception seating with tables and linens. Additionally, they took care of tear down after we made our exit.

Our guests enjoyed cocktail hour under the portico while we headed to the river for our family pictures. The pergola and Ivy wall were a gorgeous backdrop for our sweet heart table and most breath taking of all were all the hanging string lights. I could not imagine a better setting for an outdoor wedding. Beyond that, we booked the library as a place inside to escape just the two of us for our last dance. Magic.

The outside area is pretty with some interesting sculptures, and nicely shaded by green tunnels. The nearby river is calming, with some decent views via the wooden walking platforms. You can also stroll right down to the water if you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

The art on display when I visited today is a little too leftwing for my tastes, but hey, that’s art. I wouldn’t bring children through it.

I’m not in town long enough to take any classes, but it seems really cool. There is a nice little library down one of the halls. The art center looks nice and pretty well maintained, and the few staff members I ran into seemed polite and helpful.

Friendly staff. Lots of great project options to choose from! Good prices.

Warning for people with dog allergies or fear of dogs: They have a large dog that hangs out in the store. It is friendly, calm, and has manners, but it’s a large breed short single coat dog non the less.

Had a wonderful experience here! Great instruction given on how to correctly paint pottery of your choice. Love love looooove the candle making experience. So many good and nostalgic smells to put into your own candle and make an amazing memory with. I would 100% return to this location for more!

Five teen girls had the best time here and would’ve probably stayed all day to do all of the activities. The ladies (staff) were absolutely amazing, answered ALL of our questions and catered to us. You would’ve thought we paid more for the service we got. Four of the five girls painted pottery and made a candle, and one focused only on her pottery. We have to come back and do the glass area next! If you’re looking for a place where your group and choose what they want and do different activities, you’ve got to visit this little gem!

I’ve been there 4 times so far, and I loved each time. We painted ceramics, but you can blow glass, paint wood signs, and learn to paint more advanced pieces of ceramics. My boyfriend and I brought our friends to paint some pottery, and they both loved it. You get to pick your own pre-made piece, pick your own paints, and paint your pieces however you want. The staff us always so friendly, they’ll help with whatever questions you have. The owner even brings his dog sometimes, she’s the sweetest dog there is!!!

This place indeed has pottery to paint but also you can make a glass fusing craft, sign art, or a candle. The options are flabbergasting.

Another fun option is to have them host a birthday party. I chose to have my daughter’s 9th birthday party at Pottery By You. They did a great job and kept the kids engaged with their projects. The area was clean and organized (for an art studio). I honestly didn’t know if I made the right decision going with a ceramic painting party for this age group but again the employees are attentive and help out. The communication before hand, during, and after (once the pottery has been through the kiln) was thorough and appreciated. I have no regrets. The kids enjoyed the experience and I would do it again.

This was actually one of the coolest first Fridays I have been to in Indianapolis since the city has come back to life. I perused around the galleries in awe.

I loved interacting with the artist in their spaces! I am sure I did not see everything and will have to return-I actually can’t wait. I was able to meet Joanna the executive director and she told me all the cool things they have going on at the Harrison Center.

Did you know that there is a karaoke elevator or how about the Koi pond? If you look up, you may find a table that lowers from the ceiling in the main gallery. But I’m not trying to give it all away. You absolutely have to come and see it for yourself, on this occasion there happened to be circus performers in the gym. Yes there is a gym and a slide! So have fun (1)look around (2) as the artist are all cool and you can talk to the genius behind the creation.

Overall there were just extremely cool people walking around doing cool things and showing off cool art pieces but in general it was the best time in a long time. Ensure that your perusing allows you to make it up to the Terrace -but why wouldn’t you make it up to the Terrace unless you didn’t know there was a terrace -now you know friends! Make sure you go up there and get some wine (1)say hi to the rock climbing wall(2). Yes there’s a rock climbing wall up there.

When I tell you the Harrison Center absolutely blew me away. I am just all done and ready to act like I can paint now. That is how I left feeling -fuzzy and inspired.

Thank you so much for a good time and Joanna for telling us about all the tidbits that we would’ve otherwise missed.

Let me just say the art and craft event that was here December 8th was absolutely amazing so many great art pieces and crafts to purchase and support locals. There was also beer stands through the school. It was like no other event I have been to. Getting to see this old school and church and it’s entirety was simply amazing.

I have to give this place 5 stars! It was amazing. We went as a girls’ night. They allow you to bring your own alcohol so that was lovely. It’s definitely exactly how I remember it in high school art class. It definitely works the arms. We had 6 people. We were able to make 3 pieces each and keep 2. Then, we could pay for each additional one for $5. I know they do all types of classes, and there is also an art gallery inside where they do shows, I believe. I will for sure be back for date night.

I attended a One Night Class. This class is a great introduction to pottery, a couples activity or fun to go with girlfriends. The instructor explained the steps of creating a small bowl or cup. You are given enough clay for 3 small pieces that you can buy for $5 each after the class ends. (Not mandatory to purchase any or all) They will fire and glaze your pieces for you in 2 weeks. It’s a fun environment, noone is pressuring you to make your pieces perfect. The classes are great if you are looking for an activity out of the ordinary.

What an absolutely splendid way to spend a couple of hours! My friends and I took a one night class with Tracee and learned so much about wheel throwing and clay in such a short amount of time. Tracee was thorough in her explanations and, most importantly, patient with her class of beginners. Tracee offered assistance when needed and was an amazing cheerleader throughout the whole class. Although my creations weren’t perfect, she helped me see the beauty in them and I couldn’t be more proud of my first attempts! And just to heap praise on our experience, Tracee didn’t even bat an eye as my friends and I lived out our Ghost moment and channelled our inner Patrick Swayze/Demi Moore. If you’re looking to have a great time and create some interesting/one of a kind art then this is the place for you!

Every single person we have interacted with at Yellow Door has been amazing. They are helpful, encouraging, and great teachers. Fantastic experience! We were looking for something fun to do on a boring Sunday afternoon, and decided to give this a try. Our experience as healthcare professionals living in north mid town Indy. We sign up for these types of experiences through Etsy routinely and found this one to be the first disappointment and experience was mediocre at best. I think that’s an overstatement. The lady running it deserves all the credit for keeping this dump afloat. Both working healthcare we were running a few minutes late and she did accommodate. She was literally almost running between the two different instructors trying to help out, sign in, liability, colors, etc. She was respectful and professional. One of the art glass instructors who was teaching ornaments was nice and the other teaching the snowman I wouldn’t trust my dogs with. He seemed a bit antisocial and yells instead of professionally and respectfully corrects when there is an issue. There is a fine line. These are adults not kids. He needs additional training with professionalism not to mention maybe a mental health eval. He made a comment to the other instructor I can’t believe you took so many in one class in front of others? It completely felt that way. Twice as many as there should have been for the same amount of time felt like less hands on experience and more sitting and waiting. The other instructor teaching ornaments was respectful and professional although not the best instructor and instead of communicating took over for most of the 5 minutes you get to actually blow the glass. The other 60 minutes you are sitting in uncomfortable chairs which are falling apart some of which look like they came from my 1st grade classroom from the late 80s or early 90s. The best part it was warm one a cold drafty day. The other adult size chairs were mostly falling apart and looked unsafe to sit in. The location and ambiance was the worst part. It’s very hard to find and hide deep within an industrial warehouse through a labyrinth of twist and turns. When you arrive on scene you see signs for what appears to be there competitor visibly located at the front but very little for Indiana Art Glass. Fortunately someone from this company who appeared very professional and respectful directed us to where it was. We definitely won’t be back and if anything would try their competitor. Like my partner said “sometimes you learn the hard way.”
