My sister and I have taken lessons for 6 years, and I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. We’ve found a family here, one that we can chat, jam out, and laugh with. Mr. Mike is a fantastic teacher and always makes his students smile. Indy Music Academy has a very relaxed, open atmosphere and environment while still pushing us students to work our hardest and perform our very best during performances. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind.

The entire team at Indianapolis Music Academy is amazing. We’ve had multiple teachers help us over our time there. Each teacher truly cares about there students and helps them with great music instruction. They definitely treat everyone like family. Our children have really enjoyed their time there and have made a lot of progress in their music abilities. They even helped us form a band, which has been a lot of fun and a great learning experience. Thanks Indianapolis Music Academy!
Dan and Grace Lewis

The staff at Indianapolis Music Academy are professional, dedicated and skilled at music instruction. Kids learn a great mix of music theory from classical pieces along with a variety of song favorites of their own choosing. A musical ladder system is used with trophies and award certificates from beginner to advanced stages. The program incorporates annual recitals where students are encouraged to perform in a live setting for friends, fellow students and family members. I can’t say enough good things about the program and the instructors.
I highly recommend Indianapolis Music Academy to anyone seeking music instruction for children or adults.
Johnny Smoke

My son has been taking guitar lessons for over a year and we love it! He’s stayed very motivated and is continually improving. My son has ADHD and still stays engaged throughout the lessons. We also love that they have recitals and opportunities to show off what the kids have learned. The instructors are also very easy to work with.

I own a guitar repair and sales shop on the southside and met Mike (the owner of Indianapolis Music Academy) there almost 10 years ago. I know that he and his staff are very experienced and well suited to give musical instruction for a variety of instruments and styles. I recommend the Indianapolis Music Academy to all of my customers who inquire about lessons.

Went to the drum circle for the first time, fun experience, and the the owners are very friendly. Plenty of drums to use, and separate ones to purchase also. The place is big with many training or teaching rooms, I didn’t have much time to really check it out.

Excellent music school! My son has lessons with Ben. He has been a great mentors for my son. He structures lessons around his interest to teach the appropriate skills, he assists him in structuring reasonable goals for improvement and he always exudes a passion for music that engages my son in exploring new possibilities. It’s a bit of a drive for us but completely worth the education and connections.
Dawn Lambert

Went as a group for the drum circle. The staff was super cool and friendly. We had a blast drumming with the facilitator. He made it very easy to get into a groove. Highly recommend. “1, 2, back to the groove!”

My daughter took music production lessons with Ed. She learned so much! Happy to say she was accepted to every university she applied to, including her top choice: Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Only 15 kids are accepted into the Sound and Audio Engineering program each year and she got in!! They were impressed with the portfolio she submitted, part of which was created in Ed’s studio. But that’s not all… Jacobs offered her several scholarships, so her lessons with Ed have really paid off. Thanks, Ed!

Music teachers are supposed to teach music, not proselytize. Students go there to learn, not to be preached to or told they will burn in hell.

I was thinking about going through the program here. I took the tour and I thought i was a great place to be. My only issue is that they allowed drug use in the facility while i was on the tour that’s all you could smell in the air. I was told that they weren’t allowed to do that and that they will talk to them about that but definitely did not want to be in a place like that. Great staff and awesome equipment
Jeremy

This school has really helped me find a career that I love. The instructors are very passionate about what they do and it shows in what comes out of this place. The instructors also give each student a lot of one on one time with really helps with my ADD. Overall I would definitely recommend this school to anyone that is interested in music.
Michael Brand

Amazing program!! The teachers & mentors were amazing in helping me learn real-world audio engineering skills based on my style & interest. I was able to run paying studio sessions on my own before I had finished the 20-week program!
Levi Townsend

Since the day I stepped into Azmyth School of Music Technology I have been learning and will be forever grateful for the professional experiences I’ve had and yet to have. One on one, professional, real life, clients, national artist experience.. need I go on?
It’s a great place to learn to become an Audio Engineer, Producer or a Mixing Engineer.. You get it all.
Carey Goodspeed

I’ve been a student since January of 2019! Since I’ve been attending, I’ve learned key skills on production and engineering that I would have never learned off watching youtube videos. You can’t learn EQ and Compression off videos, you need hands on training and Azmyth provides that. When you’re a student you are not just learning how to mix, or set up the mics for a musician or band to record a session. You are learning signal flow, how sound travel works, proper acoustics etc but you are also networking on the business side of the industry. The tuition amount is very affordable with payment plans compared to other schools like fullsail. Learn at your own speed, ask questions and get answers. Great atmosphere, great engineers, great mentors. I definitely wish I found this school years ago!!!!

Everyone is so down to earth and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend doing business with them, you will not be disappointed!!!

In 2015 I accepted my calling to complete the project called “The Journey”.
I collaborated with several people that would say one thing and do another. As a result my confidence was shaken. Then God directed me to Humble Creations with Randall Rosenthall. He and his team proved to be the best of the best. I had MANY questions and really didn’t know what I was doing. Lol, but Brother Randall and his team showed me what God was trying to tell me: that He had called and equipped me for this project. As God had ordained the finished product was great. I recently finished my second project and it was even more dynamic. I am currently working on my third project right now! I love and appreciate that neither Randall nor his team would allow me to me get away with being lazing or timid… I had to walk and sing in the authority that God had given me. Thank Humble Creations!
Kimberly Kent

HCS is wonderful. It’s my home away from home for weekly rehearsal and I’ve just started some tracking (acoustic Alternative). I’ve been a home studio recorder for years, and HCS is just plain more fun for recording. And what Randall has tracked so far sounds worlds better than any of my home recordings! Randall’s enthusiasm about music gives HCS a fantastic vibe. Would recommend HCS to anyone and everyone.

You can’t say much cos it’s the perfect DJ school. Great instructors, they are ready to work with you on a flexible schedule. I had a great experience. If you are in the Mid-West and wanting to become a DJ, Deckademics is your best and only choice.
Samuel Anane-Afari (DJ Slim)

Can’t say enough about these guys. They are excellent teachers and very patient. They even put up with a bunch of nonsense from a old guy like me. They can work with everyone. Most of the time there is another student that’s about 40 years younger than I am getting lessons at the same time.
If you have any interest in a hobby or becoming a working DJ, there is no debate. Coming here will be the best decision you can make.
Additionally, they have a great selection of gear to get you going. No need to buy from big online sellers. You cant beat being able to touch and use equipment and then buying it from a local business.
Chris Severns

I started my sound production journey at Deckademics DJ School. Then I was accepted to Music Technology major at IUPUI! I’m very grateful to Sean, who was my instructor at Deckademics. I also took a DJ course, it was an awesome experience, and I plan to continue DJ classes. The best school and staff! Strongly recommend

I’ve been a student here since January and already my knowledge and skills have improved. If you come here be prepared to be patient with yourself, it’s not something you master quickly or overnight but all the instructors are friendly, professional and most importantly very talented. I travel from Lexington weekly to attend this school and I love it.

Customer Reviews
I have recently become serious about studying singing and I could not have found a better teacher than Jeffrey Ballard. I have been taking bi-weekly lessons from Jeff for under a year and can see that my voice is improving and that I am gaining more confidence. Jeff is able to identify my strengths and weaknesses much better than I can. If I ever walk into a lesson feeling self-critical and discouraged about my progress (because to sing well is challenging!) Jeff not only offers encouragement and analysis as to why I’m discouraged, but he also provides specific vocal exercises that get me back on track. I always leave my lessons feeling great! He is an accomplished pianist which makes singing lessons all the more enjoyable. Jeff also offers small group workshops which are educational and fun. I highly recommend Dr. Jeffrey Ballard to anyone regardless of age or level of experience.
V. Trimble

Would you throw a javelin without practicing and finding a teacher? The same principle holds for singing. I had always been told I had a terrible voice and not to sing. I have taken voice lessons with Jeff for nearly 5 years now. I learnt anyone can sing – some of us do it naturally. Others, like me, need guidance and practice! I have gone from singing 3 notes with no sense of pitch to being able to sing in choirs, and spend my summers traveling to voice workshops in the UK, Italy and Canada to enjoy singing with others, or as a soloist. Singing can take you places! Through creative exercises and a wide range of songs, Jeff helps his students discover their most beautiful sounds, and to accept the voice they have (it changes constantly as one gets more experienced). He is an accomplished pianist, so all voice lessons are taught singing with the piano. Jeff offers interesting voice workshops, excellent Master classes and, in the late Spring, a concert that gives his students a chance to sing as soloists or in duets or ensembles, and to meet each other. When I started, I had recently retired. The next student was also new; a young gymnast of 13. We are both still taking lessons! Jeff teaches all ages, and people from all walks of life. I highly recommend him whether your dream is to be a professional musician, have a musical career or just experience the sheer joy of singing as an amateur musician.
Janet Hock

Jeff Ballard is an outstanding, attentive, and encouraging voice teacher. He is always reading up on ways to get a more beautiful, confident sound out of his students, and I appreciate his continual efforts to improve. I enjoy the vocalization exercises he does with me at the beginning of each lesson; he always varies them to keep things fresh. I also enjoy the time we spend each lesson working on repertoire. You can either choose the songs you want to work on, or he can suggest repertoire for you. I do a combination: If I have a performance coming up, we’ll work on my songs for that performance; and if not, I’ll generally ask Jeff for suggestions of what to work on.
Jeff is well-connected in the musical community and can help you find opportunities to perform. Through him, I found out about Harmonie Opera, where I now perform several times a year. He also puts on studio recitals that are lovely. Definitely worth your time and investment!
Anthony Ocean

Jeffrey Ballard truly provides exceptional voice training. I am an older singer who went to Jeffrey a little over 2 years ago. I had experienced voice changes after singing. Jeffrey evaluated my voice and has tailored lessons to meet my needs. He also makes lessons fun. My vocal range has improved, singing is so much more enjoyable and if I am faced with a challenge in a piece I have the tools to meet the challenge. I highly recommend Dr. Ballard to anyone who wishes to improve their voice, maintain vocal health and enjoy the process!
Lisa Dovey

Jeff Ballard’s training, experience, and education (Doctorate Degree in Musical Arts) will get ya singing if you take the time to train with him on a regular basis and apply what you’ve learned in between vocal training sessions (voice lessons).
With at least 3 venues (2 in Indy and 1 in Muncie), and with an organized current calendar of availability, it has been easy enough to schedule lessons to accommodate even my busiest weekly calendars.
Jeff loves what he does and works with singers of all abilities. I definitely could not sing, nor did I even know how to properly sing, when I first met with Jeff. I figured I was tone deaf or something.
It turns out that tone deafness is quite rare. Many people that believe they are physically incapable of singing would benefit from vocal lessons with Jeff.
Jeff’s credentials, experience, and results speak volumes on their own. But when also considering his current number of students, where his past and present students have performed, his passion, and his sincere caring personality it was a no-brainer to write this review, which was not even requested.
I wish Jeff the continued success he truly deserves!!!

The Indianapolis Suzuki Academy has been great for our little girl. She started at 2 and is now 3. She sings songs, dances, plays instruments and is learning basic theory (wether she knows it or not). She is excited to learn more and sings the songs and dances the routines all week in anticipation of her next class. I can not recommend the academy highly enough.

I’m so old, you could say I’m ancient! Nevertheless, Angela Pulliam agreed to take me on to teach me how to play HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the violin. She is VERY PATIENT…and talented.
