Myles

Came here from Illinois to see a comic also from Illinois (Pat McGann)

Hilarious by the way, always does a great job.

Since this was our first time at Helium because of this reason I had no previous experience with the club.

It was WNBA All Star weekend in the city, so naturally the city was packed.

Once inside I was happy to see that the staff was great, the food was delicious and the talent was World Class.

Compliments to the owners for a great experience.

The workers at Helium Comedy Club were not overly polite, but were not mean. The drinks were good, but pricey. They had a 2 drink minimum per person, which I have found is uncommon for comedy clubs.

Jeremy Plummer

Great club. Very shallow and wide, which means everything feels close and intimate. I saw Heath, Martin, and Ahurn tonight. Super funny guys. I hope they come through again soon. There was one woman who wouldn’t shut up. She was given a couple of warnings from the stage, then they kicked her out. Great work from the club staff on getting rid of the distraction. Food and drinks were a little pricey, but normal for a captive venue. And the wait staff had a perfect balance between making sure I had what I needed without constantly interrupting my experience. It was a little tricky to find. It was listed as inside the Circle Center Mall, but some of the entrances to the mall (and all the stores) were closed (at 7:30p on a Wednesday), the mall information maps were not working, and the cleaning staff didn’t understand English. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’ll be going back.

Nice venue, near plenty of parking, and the Caesar salad is really good. The pretzels are alright but they give you a ton of nacho cheese for only $1.

Second time at the theater. This time attending that Comedy Junkies tonight. Nice and personal theater. Online ordering was smooth. When you get to the theater, walk and and tell them your name (person who order tickets) to let them know you arrived and for them to let you know where to sit. Nice concession stand with food, drinks, beer, etc. (You can come hungry). Plenty to parking. Will recommend to others.

My family and I have been attending these performances for about 20 years starting when they were on Massachusetts Avenue. This type of improv comedy must be very difficult to do, but all of the performers do a very good job and it is quite entertaining. The new food selection since they left Massachusetts Avenue is much better and the prices are very reasonable for a couple of hours of laughs. It is very family, friendly, and kids get a blast out of their ability to participate in providing suggestions and sometimes coming on stage. This facility is also much cleaner and larger than Massachusetts Avenue. I would definitely recommend that you give it a try.

This was such a fun evening at Wit Theater. I wanted to introduce my husband to stand up and today was perfect in every way.
Engaging with the audience, quick wit and lovely hosting was such a good formula to an evening full of laughs.
Prices were pretty reasonable and humor was clean and good quality.
The actors run the entrance, theater and commission stand essentially donning the 5 in one role.
Do go out and support local talent, it’s wholesome and great for groups or teams at work.

Shawn Blazier

This was a very fun place to go to. Just a heads up that there is a two-drink minimum in the showroom even if you purchase the guaranteed close seats. Place was relatively clean and service was pretty quick. Comedy was pretty good for a Saturday evening. It did get full so purchase tickets ahead of time. And especially if it is one of their big shows. There were three acts on the Saturday night with each act getting longer and longer. It is definitely for more mature adults with some of the material that was used to. However a good time. It’s a small venue to get into and then it opens into a decent-size Auditorium.

This place is awesome! Great atmosphere, great service, and hilarious comedians, with a strong focus on supporting local comics. I was visiting out of town and I came for an open mic night. The crowd was a lot of fun, there was a nice variety of different types of humor from the comedians, and I even had a chance to run into David Letterman in the hallway since he was checking out the club that night for a casual night out on the town! Surreal! I will definitely come back and check out another show next time I am in Indianapolis.

As far as the comedians, first act not great. Second was pretty funny. Headliner just ok. Not sure about anyone else but I rarely seek out comedians for mental health advice and patties act went on about 20 minutes too long.
As for the venue, advertised food and there was none available.
Other then that nothing special. Would certainly go to see someone we wanted to see in the future. We would just know to grab a bite before.

Not a bad little venue! I had a great time, and the team there was welcoming. However, I will say that something about midwesterners has me questioning if they have sticks up their butts or not. There were some pretty funny jokes, but the house was dead. Lighten up Indianapolis!

My experience at Crackers Comedy Club in Indianapolis was extremely disappointing. Right from the start, the old lady handling my payment. The waitress had a terrible attitude when we were just trying to order our drinks. Frankly, this place is a complete no-go for me. If it weren’t for supporting a friend, I would have never set foot in there. Rest assured, this visit will be my last – I won’t be returning.

Was good and fun. There was a short opening act and then a main act. Can’t just the venue entirely on the performer but think they did well too. Don’t opt for the premium seats, there are 10 seats right at the stage that put the Comedian’s crotch right in your face.
The waitress was quick with the drinks.

It was a lot of fun, parking was easy and didn’t have to pay. The community around the venue is very welcoming and didn’t seem to mind everyone parking on their street. The venue itself is small and intimate so it makes for some intense and chaotic shows. It’s very very hot in there in the summer months, wear light clothes and they have bottled water for a $1.

Great musical venue for shows. You get a more intimate experience with the artists and bands. There is plenty of parking all around without having to park too far away and having to walk a long distance. They serve water and red bull at reasonable prices with a bottle of water costing a $1 unlike most other venues charging $4 for one. The acoustics there are pretty good. And overall a good pa. And you can easily go up front if you want to. Support the local Indy Scene and support this venue to keep the music scene alive and well in Indy.

I love supporting a local organization doing amazing work in the community. IndyFringe is that+ I attended for the first time on a Sunday at 2:30 for Ballad of the Book Women during DIVA Fest. I was immediately charmed by the location and venue itself. Risers hold free standing chairs on three sides of the room to accommodate your intimate viewing experience. Perhaps this changes depending on the performance. The bar had beer, wine etc nothing fancy. I was taken by a thought provoking performance, the engaged audience and the carefully crafted program. I can’t wait to return for another performance. My ticket cost $10 and I had no trouble finding free parking in the surrounding area. I highly recommend checking this venue out. If you are into this type of thing you certainly won’t regret experiencing a piece of Indy’s rich theater scene. Rain during the performance was loud on the roof but didn’t detract from the overall experience in my opinion.

It’s an ok show had a good time they were really funny and enjoyable to see. The one thing is the price difference for front row and the back area the entire room is very small for what you would think for a comedy show so if you do go get the cheaper seats it won’t make a bit of difference and honestly the price of admission was a bit high I would say about 10 too much. Still had a grat time

The show was awesome but the little lady at the door really needs to check her self and the way she treats people. Was my birthday outing and we purchased tickets and then we had two friends show which made a group of four. It was understood prior to her yelling at us that we had to just split our group and find openings at occupied tables to sit with strangers which was not bad but we proceeded to grab extra fold up chairs they had available ( one would think you could use these to sit in an open spot) she then approached us and let us know the spot we tried to sit in would block bar. Ok, as we were moving she grabbed chairs from us hollering at myself and the group totally losing it. We luckily found a four top and sat two of us and then other two sat behind us but through the whole show her daggers were disrespectful and ruined the vibe. Disappointed because the show was awesome but the troll at the front door needs a little lesson in how to treat patrons. Awesome show guys lose the bully at the door

Mud Creek is a fabulous organization. They allow a quality experience for all ages who love theater. My children, now grown had an experience of creativity and friendship like no other while participating in Barn Rats. When my daughter reached high school age, the youth program was an integral part of her high school experience. The shows were excellent and experience of stage craft and all other aspects of putting on a show very enriching for her. There was something for everyone, and the sense of fellowship among them all like nothing else. I have always enjoyed the people and spirit at Mud Creek. Queenie was my favorite in this latest show. She had real pizzazz. She reminded me of the drama coach in High School Musical. I also loved the brother. It was a great job

I had the chance to see The Taming of the Shrew here as part of Bardfest, and it was fantastic. The actors were exceptional, and it was a neat space.

For this rating I am going to split it up.
First will be about the theater and facilities, Second will be about the play I got to see.
Part one:
On the parking lot, whoever said to pay for blacktop should be rewarded. Lot was well planned out and with two entrances you had several options to not get stuck.
The building was very nice. My apologies, I didn’t check the concessions or the bathroom to report on those.
The seats were very nice and padded. Wasn’t uncomfortable throughout the show.
The lighting and the set were great.
Part two: this is community theater?? We went to the matinee showing of the play “In-laws, Outlaws, and Other People: That Should be Shot” by Steve Franco. The actors (both male and female) were great. In the opening scene the father and daughter set the stage for the rest of the play and the rest of the cast truly live up to the expectations. I was able to identify myself as well as other family members as portrayed by the cast. Really worth the money spent when you realize that everyone involved are volunteers.
Will for sure go back. Much happier spending my money here vs going to see a movie.

Great entertainment! I have been there several times and the only gripe I have with each time is the length in which it takes to get your food/drink. But the waitresses are always moving and I know they are so busy. But I have also only ever seen two at a time there. Maybe hiring a third will decrease the time between putting in an order and getting it. I really do love this place though and I will be back! Also the food and the drinks are always on point when I have gotten them! Worth it!

The act were great. The servers were nice but didn’t serve much. They have a 2 food/drink/one of each minimum, which is fine. I ordered 2 drinks and two food items as I am an over achiever. I received nothing. No food and no drinks. I will not be going back.

Went for the world comedy tour with a fairly large group of people (14 or so) and everyone was accommodated very well! They had a minimum 2 item purchase and the menu was fairly limited; but after all I was there for the laughs so didn’t really care either way. Great service, cozy ambiance and friendly staff

I like this place a lot for the day of the week when I visit. Monday’s are quiet and they have a great selection of beers. Craft beer prices are a bit steep but I figure it’s because of their location which is truly great.

GM was incredibly unprofessional, rude, and had a hell of an attitude for little to no reason. Really turned me off from wanting to come back. This venue is in need of a better system for seating people fairly and politely.

Let’s start with the food. This would be a 5 star review if the food had been just a little better, but let me be honest. I didn’t plan this night based on the food. The food could have been better, but it was not bad. We had the chicken and the asparagus was rather good, but the chicken was dry. The beginning salad was sad. The desert after was pretty decent.
Now, let’s review the show. We loved it! There was a lot of improv and the cast was very good at it. Cast members were statigicaly placed at dinner tables and some were easily recognized as actors but that did not detour me from having an open mind. The cast were very good at recognizing which guests would play along and that made the event enjoyable and interactive. Every cast member deserves 5 stars.
Summary: if you are a shy person looking to be left alone and see a completely scripted play, this might not be for you. However if you want to be part of the fun and enjoy yourself with others you have never met, this is a must try evening of fun entertainment.

My family and I were visiting from Jersey and had never experienced one of these dinner theaters and we are so glad we went because we had the best time! The food was delicious (we had the chicken marsala) dessert was divine (chocolate cake) and I don’t get why other reviewers are complaining about the drinks. You’re paying for a SHOW, that comes with dinner, not an open bar! There was a cash bar if you needed to get your drink on.. The cast was great, so was Jerry the MC, all were hilarious, and we met a great couple who was seated with us. It was all very interactive. Our two daughters were pulled into the show to read clues, which was especially fun. We were laughing all night. We’re a theater loving family, and liked the improv aspect of the show. Although we didn’t solve the mystery, we really enjoyed the entire night. I highly recommend this for your family!

Food was yummy. Servers were courteous and professional. Performers were hilarious and did a great job. Highly recommend. My only complaint would be my $6 can of Pepsi from the cash bar (I went ahead and gave her the whole $10). Would recommend for a fun night out!

Wife and I wanted to try something different for dinner. This was a great change of scenery. Kept us engaged the whole time. The detectives mixed in humor to the case and were hilarious. When they pulled my actual picture out of the box I was completely surprised and had no idea! What a wonderful night. Your friend, Captain Insano

Dinner was good but the atmosphere and general professionalism of the actors was lackluster. Loud and crass with a strange story to follow. We left after the dessert was served as our time was better spent elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions about comedy clubs in Indianapolis

What kinds of venues exist for comedy in Indianapolis?

Indianapolis features a mix of dedicated comedy clubs, bar-and-grill venues with weekly shows, and theater spaces that host touring stand-up acts and local talent. These venues vary in size, tone, and schedule, offering everything from intimate evenings with a few comedians to larger, headline nights. It’s common to see a rotating lineup across the week, including open mics and special events. If you’re exploring, you’ll often find options that emphasize improvisation, storytelling, or topical humor in addition to traditional stand-up routines.

Are there age restrictions or alcohol policies I should know about?

Most club shows in Indianapolis enforce a 21+ policy for events serving alcohol, with ID checks at the door. Some venues offer all-ages daytime or matinee performances, or sit-down shows without alcohol, which can be suitable for younger audiences. Always verify the age policy for a specific show, and note that some venues may require adult supervision for minors when alcohol is present.

How much do tickets typically cost for a show?

Ticket prices in Indianapolis generally range from $15 to $35 for standard nights, with special events or headliners occasionally higher. Some venues offer student discounts, early-bird pricing, or group rates. Additional costs may include service fees or ticketing fees, so it’s wise to view the full total before purchasing. If you’re flexible, attending a weekday show can often be more affordable than a weekend headliner.

Do open mic nights exist and how can I participate?

Many Indianapolis venues host open mic nights that welcome aspiring comedians to perform short sets. Participation usually requires signing up in advance or arriving early to secure a spot on a rotation. Rules can vary by venue, including maximum set lengths, content guidelines, and lineup order. If you’re interested in performing, check the venue’s sign-up process and any age or material restrictions ahead of time.

What is the typical show format at Indianapolis comedy clubs?

A standard night often features a host to warm up the crowd, followed by one or more feature acts, and usually a headliner who performs the main set. Typical shows run roughly 60 to 90 minutes, sometimes with a short intermission. Some formats include crowd work or audience interactions, while others focus on prepared material. If you’re new, arriving early helps you learn the flow and guarantees good seating for the headliner.

How can I stay informed about schedules and lineups?

To keep up with show schedules, use the venue’s official website, subscribe to email newsletters, and follow the clubs on social media. Many venues post weekly calendars, special events, and last-minute lineup changes there. For guaranteed information, check a show’s page a few days before your planned visit and consider signing up for text alerts if offered.

What about seating, reservations, and accessibility?

Most clubs offer a mix of reserved seating and general admission, with reservations recommended for popular nights. Accessibility varies by venue, but many clubs provide ADA-compliant seating, accessible restrooms, and wheelchair access. Parking options differ by location, so planning ahead—arriving early for parking availability or using transit can reduce stress on show night.

Are there family-friendly or all-ages options?

Yes, some shows are designed for all-ages audiences or daytime slots that are appropriate for younger guests. These events typically feature cleaner material and careful scheduling to avoid late hours. Always confirm the age suitability and the content rating of a show before bringing children.

What should I know about food, drinks, and concessions?

Most Indianapolis clubs offer a concession menu with snacks, soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages for adult guests. Some venues allow external snacks, while others do not. If you have dietary preferences or restrictions, it’s helpful to review the menu options in advance and ask staff about accommodations. Seating may be arranged near the bar or in a dining area, depending on the venue layout.

What etiquette tips help everyone enjoy the show?

Respect the performers by keeping silence during sets, avoiding recording without permission, and refraining from interruptions or heckling. Arrive on time to minimize disruption, and keep phones on silent mode. If you enjoy a bit of banter, do so in a way that’s friendly and does not derail the performer. Finally, remember to tip staff and, if appropriate, the performers at the end of the show.
