Food was ok. The performance was great, nice and cozy inside. I recommend the appetizer sampler, was good and nicely portioned for a couple people. Be prepared to walk, parking is on the street and even arriving early I had to park 2 blocks away.

I came here on a Friday. Stephanie Allen-Stevenson was performing and her voice was amazing and she knew how to entertain and interact with the crowd. I ordered their etouffee it was tasty and a little spicy. I also had three cocktails. My favorite was their called Purple Haze which is new and not yet on the menu.

The Jazz Kitchen on a cold Sunday afternoon is the place to be! Marion Meadows came in town on November 30th and December 1st, and I love his music, so I bought a ticket to the 5:30 show, and it was worth every cent! I ordered the sampler, which included crab cakes, fried shrimp, and taquitos. I enjoyed the dish as much as I enjoyed the music! The atmosphere was intimate, yet there was plenty of room to move about for trips to the bathroom or the bar. Now, if you buy 1 ticket like i did, then you may have to sit with nobody at your table or several others who also bought 1 ticket. I’m an introvert, so I was not ready for that. All-in-all, this was a really great experience! I cannot wait to return to The Jazz Kitchen.

Came here for a date night with my husband who just moved back to Indy after several years. He was asking where we could go that’s close to the house and had live music. I said Google, do your thang and it did! We had an awesome time! The band that performed that night was incredible, the cocktails were made to perfection and the atmosphere was exactly what we were wanting, small, cozy and intimate. I think we found our spot in Naptown. ❤️

Such a cool spot! Got here early enough that the crowd wasn’t bad. Music started at 8pm with a $4 “cover charge” added to bill. Jukebox available before the jazz band starts. Awesome conversation with Jess at the bar! I had already eaten before I got here, but they do have small food items available. Such a cool vibe in here. If you haven’t been, come. If you have been, chances are likely you’ll be back.

I stopped in Indianapolis for a day since had never visited before and as I was making my way down Massachusetts Ave (heading back to my car) – I noticed a large mural with a plaque which told the story of Etheridge Knight and towards the bottom it mentioned he frequented “the Chatterbox” and..

Hey wait! That’s literally the THIS BUILDING! Yes!

Went in, the place is awesome!! Great beer, great food and overall fantastic menu! The server Emery is absolutely amazing and we had a great conversation about the Chatterbox, Jazz Musix and No Wave Jazz like Lydia Lunch, James Chance (No New York stuff) and it was just and overall awesome experience to visit, have a beer and a great chat!

I’ll be returning at some point for some live jazz when I have more time. But one thing I will say.. The artwork plastered all over the walls in this place speaks beyond volumes.. It’s like the CBGBs of Jazz in Indianapolis! That’s the vibe I get

As a first timer, I was mighty impressed with the demographics of the space. Clean, modern, and sexy is the taste it left in my mouth. The food was immaculate, and I only tried a few dishes. That menu is grand and prices are reasonable! I’ll be back for the live music!!

First of all when I entered from inside the mall, the floor was so greasy/slippery that I almost lost my footing.
I made my way to the bar where I saw at least three people behind the bar apparently working. Only one of them was helping customers even though there were more than a few people waiting at the bar to be helped.
Even though I had been standing at the end of the bar for quite a while, the bartender who had seen me, continued to wait on customers at the bar in front of her as they walked up. I always thought we operate on the first come, first served basis.
Finally, although I didn’t order food, one of my friends did. She ordered the $18 crab cakes. I didn’t find them flavorful nor did they look very appetizing sitting on the plate.
The music they were playing was awesome though. And the people that work there when they finally waited on me were pretty friendly.
I’d say if you’re looking for a place like this, keep looking.

Nice space, love the live band. Decor is nice & service was great. Visited again a few weeks ago & this time, I tried the food. It’s definitely hit & miss. I had to send back both my gator bites (too too fatty) & my crab cakes (extremely too much salt & seasoning). I ended up ordering the shrimp pasta to go. My drink was still top tier, and I enjoyed the music

I’ve been here before but forgot to review. Have always had great service in the past; however, the guy working today was extremely rude. Beer is always good and served cold. Atmosphere is excellent since it’s inside the Garage. Plenty of food options around to match any of your beer choices here.
