CITYOGA fills my cup every. single. time. I have tried classes with various instructors and each one has felt well balanced, nourishing and healing. I recommend the somatics classes with Lisa D to all of my friends. They are amazing!!

I love Lisa’s heartfelt classes and offerings! Her somatic classes are intentional, grounding, and fulfilling. Her somatic teacher training helped level up my own yoga teaching. I highly recommend anything Lisa offers at cityoga!

I came across Cityoga when I was looking for a prenatal yoga class to gift to my sister who was in her third trimester. I had never really done yoga before that, but I loved that experience with teacher Kelly Shull so much that I now aim to get to a class a week. My current favorite is heated slow flow with Charlotte Gretter- she is awesome!! It’s something I look forward to every week now! Highly recommend!

City Yoga is a very safe, serene spiritual community. I recommend yin/sound bowl with Katarina and triple gong with Diane. Both of these gifted instructors are wise and grounded so your practice is honored w/o judgement. I leave anything that no longer serves me at the door and emerge feeling uplifted and positive. Thank you CY.

I want to teach, so I chose CITYOGA for their 200-hour teacher training course. Not sure I can say enough good things about this, excellent course, excellent instructors, top notch guest teachers and presenters. If anyone is interested in teaching, I highly recommend CITYOGA’s teaching courses.

Karma Hamm

Santosha is my favorite yoga studio in all of Indianapolis. There is a deep underlying current of tradition and spirituality and healthiness that is wonderfully balanced with the fun upbeat energy of the classes and teachers there. Everyone is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. I always feel I am exactly where I need to be when I am there and after class I am always glad I carved out time in my day for taking care of myself through yoga practice. I can’t recommend Santosha enough for all levels of yogis. Also- massages with Shiela are other-worldly! 🙂 She has a very intuitive gift and always knows exactly what my body needs to restore and relax.

I have been going to Santosha regularly for the past 6 weeks and I always leave feeling better than when I arrive. I’d never been to a yoga class in my life before walking in and noted the staff have been incredibly welcoming of practitioners of all abilities. The staff are extremely friendly/welcoming and have the ability to transfer their deep knowledge and understanding of yoga with humility. The school carries such a positive energy and has a feeling of entering an old friends household rather than a workout studio. Whether you’re brand new yoga like me or deep into your practice, I’d highly recommend!

Krista Ramsay

I tend to float around between a few different yoga studios in town, but Santosha has very much become my favorite! I first practiced yoga here back when it was a one-room studio, so it’s nice to see how much it’s grown in its current location with a wide variety of classes all to nourish the mind, body, and spirit. There’s truly something for everybody, whether you’re looking for an athletic practice or strictly to relax and chill, there are classes for you (plus if you’re on a budget, there are several $5 classes available each week and an unlimited membership is only $79 a month!).

I’m so happy I decided to have our surprise office Christmas party activity here. I brought a staff of 12 people and ALL enjoyed the YOGA AND THAI-YOGA MASSAGE experience tremendously. I especially enjoyed the personalized attention and care that Kathy Busso did from the very first time I spoke to her. She was very attentive and helpful and kept in touch with me so well throughout the process. The activity space was just perfect- both spacious and serene/inviting. Kathy and her girls provided the best Thai-Yoga massages. Kathy is just a wonderful person and I intend to continue seeing her for regular yoga and massage and I can’t wait to share my experience with my entire family. Thank you so much!

Each time I’ve been to Santosha, I’ve been treated warmly, as if I’m already a member of their family. The staff is knowledgeable and inspiring. I’ve been for yoga, meditation, and now an Ayurveda consult. I’ve been given resources to make lifestyle changes based on a thorough individualized assessment. And they are doable, realistic adjustments! Thank you, Santosha school! Keep up the great work, as you are a true asset to the community.

I began practicing yoga to Santosha a little over 2 years ago and I have never left. I love it here. The atmosphere is so welcoming, it becomes like a second home. The teachers are incredible and truly care so deeply for the practice itself and any way they can share it with you. This wonderful place is more than just a yoga studio. I have attended wonderful classes that include Ayurveda, emotional healing, massage, Tai Chi and meditation. They work so hard to encompass not just the physical, but the emotional and spiritual aspects of life without becoming overbearing, preachy or spacey. I truly love being a student of this incredible studio. This place has helped change my life in so many way that I honestly didn’t believe was even possible.

Dan & Melissa Moran

Starting yoga well into my 40’s wasn’t easy: there were many tangles and kinks to work out, physically and otherwise. Santosha School has been a welcoming place to roll out my mat and work through it all, guided and encouraged by some of the most experienced and caring souls I know. After several years of practice here, I enrolled in the teacher training program and am now growing my practice in another way. I feel so much better – physically, mentally and spiritually. And now my family has joined in the yoga goodness too!

Stephanie Wakeland

This studio has been amazing, they have both in person and virtual class options. The staff are amazing, I missed a few sessions while sick and they messaged to check in on me (Zoe one of the instructors). Just doing that simple act felt so kind, thoughtful, and in a way being seen and noticed. All instructors/teachers are great. One of the things I love is that I have never been in a class (regularly scheduled ones), that have had more than 8 to 10 people. This to me is a such a bonus. Also everyone is just so nice and kind. Both Zoe (my instructor is who checked in on me) and Marta are the sweetest and Alyssa is so easy to chat with.

Myriad Yoga is the best! Their instructors are knowledgeable and always make sure their students feel comfortable and supported. They also have so many classes to choose from. Personally, I love the Stretch classes with Zoe and Leah, the Sunday evening Restore class with Karen, and my absolute favorite – Devine Fem Flow with Marta! Also, from my experience, Myriad Yoga is very LGBTQ+ friendly!

Love myriad yoga! Doing yoga here for the past two years has been one of my absolute favorite fitness experiences- I’ve learned a lot about yoga (didn’t have much yoga experience before this) and love the classes and instructors. The warm classes are the best, great way to start the day 😊

I love Jordan’s aerial yoga class! She’s knowledgeable, humble, and really cares about her students. We have fun, get to play, and get a really nice and deep stretch from the assistance from the silks – unlike a typical floor class. Highly recommend!

Admittedly I’m biased, because a friend of mine teaches here, but I’ve really enjoyed the Flow Warm classes. The provided yoga mat is high quality and the sessions have been doable even for someone like me who isn’t super flexible. The studio is comfortable, and I’m always happy I’ve attended.

Beverly Huneck

To say that attending classes at kOMpose is an integral piece of my mental health healing journey, is a gross understatement. From the down-to-earth, friendly, and loving vibe to all of the instructors I’ve encountered, they are second to none. There is no question, I was meant to find you…

Shelby Reichle

As a plus size woman who is new to yoga, I have struggled to find a space in Indianapolis to practice yoga where I not only feel accommodated, but also celebrated. Kompose does this. Every class I have taken has had incredibly kind instructors (who are also so human – giggling during classes, making jokes, but also leading by example on how to show ourselves compassion and ground ourselves in gratitude and peace) and the people in the class are always incredibly diverse. It is hands down the most comfortable I have ever felt in any fitness space, both because of the teachers but also the students. Teachers offer instructions for every skill level and body type and I have genuinely never felt more comfortable and safe enough to explore and further my yoga practice. I love Kompose and I could not speak more highly of it! If you’re thinking about giving it a try, go for it! This is the place to start!

Shelby Reichle ☆ 5/5
Ashley Brown

I’ve been attending Kompose in Broad Ripple for about three years now, and it’s truly become one of my favorite places to land and reset. From the moment you walk in, there’s a calming, welcoming energy that makes you feel like you’re part of something special. I’ve especially loved their yin yoga classes, which have helped me find deep rest and release, and the full moon flows always feel like a soulful reset. The sound baths are beautifully immersive, and the breathwork sessions I’ve attended have been powerful—both grounding and expansive. What really sets Kompose apart, though, is the community vibe. It’s more than a yoga studio—it’s a space to reconnect with yourself and others in a supportive, heart-centered environment. So grateful for the teachers, the energy, and the intention behind this space. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

Kompose is one of the best yoga studios that I’ve been to in Indianapolis. I’d like to give a shout out to Melanie, for taking the time with us and slowing down the practice. There are far too many places where the practice is rushed. And I’d also like to give praise to Katarina for guiding my attention to the places where I am not supported in my life. We all need support! These are the only teachers I’ve taken classes with. So far, absolutely outstanding. Thank you.

The studio and classes are comfortable, convenient and offer a wide variety to add to your practice. The teachers and studio staff are very welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly ..and all offer different little intricacies to learn from! I attend Toni’s classes on Friday after work and love it! I’ve never really been into yoga but know I need it for how much I run. Toni makes the class so enjoyable with awesome music and a perfect mix of the stretching I need combined with strengthening moves. Her teaching style makes me look forward to going to class. The studio is also so cute and well decorated.

What an amazing family bonding experience! My four children ranging from 16 to 5 loved every minute of it. My seven-year-old didn’t want to get on the water and Trisha was so kind and patient with him and he was able to stay with Nana on the shore.

We had a private session at a friend’s house, and it was a blast! Trisha gave thorough paddling and safety instructions, then we were fitted with a paddle and hit the water. Some folks needed some help getting to a standing position, and Trisha’s group was very patient and helped as much as anyone wanted. Everyone in our group was up paddling, and many of us tried some yoga moves. Trisha showed us some amazing flow and positions on the board too. A number of us want to try her regular SUP yoga classes because we had so much fun.

If you could imagine the best experience of your life, this experience is even better than that. I am a yoga fanatic but I’d never been on a paddle board. While I was on the water, I felt like a kid in a candy store, Christmas morning, my birthday, like I was on top of the world ; Trisha made my experience euphoric! I have been telling everyone I know about Pure Soul Paddle Board Yoga, can’t wait for my next section, I will be booking very soon. Thank you Trisha

I booked my first class here through Class Pass. When I arrived and got settled in, the first thing that really stood out was how beautiful and calming the space was. Theinstructor, Beth, made me feel welcome and comfortable and she did a great job leading the class. The class itself was so relaxing and exactly what I needed. I’ll definitely be back! For other first timers: Parking is available on the streets surrounding the studio and you can walk straight back to the studio space when you arrive (the front area is a retail space, not a check-in :)).

I started taking classes here a few months ago and have loved every single one I’ve been to. The studio’s very calm and cozy. All of the instructors have been incredibly supportive and empowering… it’s a wonderful safe space for all levels of experience. Every instructor has their own unique style so there’s a bit of something for everyone. I’m picky about yoga studios and this is by far the most inclusive and friendly one I’ve ever been to. I love starting my weekend off with Andrea’s 10am class every Saturday!

I have been with Barbara for over 20 years. Yes, I have gone to many other classes, but hers are the ones I love the best. She has a calm centered being and a very deep knowledge of not just yoga poses, but also philosophy. Her class is more than what you would find in the average yoga studio.

I currently take the Wednesday evening class to break up my week with meditation, relaxation and poses and always feel refreshed and energized after her classes. She is a fabulous instructor that is knowledgeable and so informative. Highly recommend Yogaworx Indy to all who want to experience yoga at any level from beginning to advanced!

Barbara is an amazing yoga instructor. I have been taking her classes since 2006. All my life I’d had chronic back problems. Even as a child it hurt to shop with my mom because slow walking through stores was excruciating. After years of physical therapy ordered by orthopedic doctors–and later–years of chiropractic therapy, I was still in pain. Within months of taking Barbara’s classes, my back pain disappeared. If it slips out of place, I do a pose or two she has taught me and I am fine again. She allows students to practice at their own levels. I couldn’t stand on one foot, much less do a «tree» when I first started. I am now, at age 65, more flexible than I have ever been. Most importantly, I rarely get sick. My immune system has incredibly strengthened. Nothing is different in my life other than yoga practice. I had no idea these bonus benefits would occur. Additionally, Barbara is knowledgeable about many things that encourage good health. I have learned so much from her. I recommend her friendly and inviting classes to everyone! –Jeanie B

This place/space truly feels like a village. I’m a long time hot yoga devotee and the infared heat in this gorgeous space FEELS healthy, like I’m heating from the inside out, like I’m not gasping for air. It’s amazing. And the teachers are incredible! Led by my favorite of all yoga teachers, owner Tiffany, the teachers are encouraged to bring their own specialness to each class, and they do. It’s a must- attend yoga studio to have on your radar. 🧘🏻‍♀️🙏🏻

This place is amazing!!!! The yoga class was a great introductory class that we could easily follow. Instructor was patient. Gave people permission to do yoga or snuggle puppies. We were in a packed class, but it was controlled and peaceful. I brought my daughter and a group of her friends for her 20th birthday. The puppies are brought in from local breeders. If a puppy has an accident, they clean up with disinfectant.

Frequently asked questions about yoga centers in Indianapolis

What types of yoga classes do Indianapolis yoga centers typically offer?

Indianapolis yoga centers provide a diverse range of classes catering to various levels and preferences. You’ll commonly find offerings like Hatha yoga, focusing on foundational poses and breathwork; Vinyasa yoga, connecting movement with breath in a flowing sequence; Ashtanga yoga, a more structured and athletic style; Restorative yoga, promoting deep relaxation and stress reduction through supported poses; and Yin yoga, holding poses for longer periods to target connective tissues.

How do I choose the right yoga style for my needs?

Selecting the appropriate yoga style depends on your physical condition, experience level, and goals. Beginners often benefit from gentler styles like Hatha or Restorative. If you’re seeking a more challenging workout, Vinyasa or Ashtanga might be suitable. Consider your stress levels—Restorative and Yin are excellent for relaxation. Researching class descriptions and talking to instructors is always a good idea before committing to a particular style.

What should I wear to a yoga class?

Comfortable and flexible clothing is key. You’ll generally want to wear athletic leggings or yoga pants, a moisture-wicking top (like a t-shirt or tank top), and yoga socks to protect your feet and prevent slipping. Avoid wearing restrictive clothing that might hinder your movement. Most studios provide yoga mats, but you can also bring your own if you prefer.

What do I need to bring to class?

Besides your comfortable clothing, you’ll typically need to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, a towel for wiping away sweat, and a yoga mat if you have your own. Some studios offer mats for rent, but it’s generally more comfortable to use your own. Don’t forget a small bag to carry your belongings.

What is the typical cost of a yoga class in Indianapolis?

The cost of a yoga class in Indianapolis can vary depending on the studio, class type, and length. Generally, you can expect to pay between $10 and $25 for a drop-in class. Many studios offer monthly memberships or packages that provide discounted rates for regular attendance. It’s worth researching different studios and comparing their pricing structures.

Are there yoga centers in Indianapolis that offer beginner classes?

Yes, many yoga centers in Indianapolis specifically cater to beginners. Look for studios that advertise "Beginner Yoga," "Intro to Yoga," or "Level 1" classes. These classes typically focus on fundamental poses and basic alignment, with experienced instructors offering guidance and support. Don’t be afraid to ask about introductory offers or trial classes.

What is the atmosphere like at different yoga centers in Indianapolis?

The atmosphere varies greatly from studio to studio. Some centers have a more spiritual and meditative environment, while others are more focused on a fitness-oriented approach. Some studios have a strong community feel, while others are more individualistic. Visiting a studio before committing to a membership is a great way to get a sense of the atmosphere and see if it’s a good fit for you.

What are the benefits of practicing yoga?

The benefits of yoga are numerous and well-documented. Regular yoga practice can improve flexibility, strength, balance, and posture. It can also reduce stress, anxiety, and muscle tension. Yoga promotes mindfulness and can enhance overall mental and physical well-being.

How do I find a yoga studio in Indianapolis that’s right for me?

Start by researching online using search engines and yoga directories. Read online reviews to get feedback from other students. Consider visiting several studios to observe a class and speak with the instructors. Look for a studio that offers a welcoming environment, a diverse range of classes, and a schedule that fits your lifestyle.

What are the certifications to look for in a yoga instructor?

While there isn’t a single governing body for yoga instructors, reputable instructors typically hold certifications from recognized organizations such as the Yoga Alliance. Different levels of certification exist, from 200-hour teacher trainings to advanced specialty certifications. These certifications ensure that the instructor has undergone a comprehensive education and demonstrated proficiency in yoga practices.
