Shay

Wonderful staff, clean facility, and the program works. We tried other tutoring services before, but nothing has worked liked Huntington. In less than 3 months I can see significant progression. If you are on the fence just do it, you won’t regret it.

We have been so happy with Huntington Learning Center. My son has been tutoring there since January and they have done a great job supporting both his strengths and his growth opportunities, and have worked with his school to make sure they’re addressing the whole picture. They care deeply about my child’s success and cheer him on as much as I do. Highly recommend!

My child had a great experience. In addition to a boost in her math skills she had more confidence in herself. Highly recommend Huntington

We’ve had a great experience with Huntington Learning Center and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for academic support. What stood out to me the most was their flexibility—they really work around your schedule and learning style, which made it so much easier to stay consistent. The tutors are experienced and knowledgeable, and they have a great way of breaking things down so that even complex topics start to click. My son felt supported the whole way through, and it wasn’t just about getting through assignments—it was about actually understanding the material on a deeper level. Thanks to their help, my son’s confidence and knowledge in algebra has improved significantly!

My son went to Huntington Learning Center for one-on-one SAT prep. The Huntington staff went out of their way to fit our wacky schedule. His got the SAT score he needed (up 100 points from the practice test), and the math tutors helped him with calculus when he was on a tough unit. While he might have been able to do the SAT review on his own, it was well worth the money to keep his studying on track, and the calculus help was invaluable.

A little discouraging at first but I promise they make you feel at home. Figuring your child’s strengths and weakness are always hard and very discouraging sometimes for you as a parent because we don’t know whats the best options to take to keep a strong learning environment. My son attends the center in Glendale area and I absolutely love it. Ms. Lisa is very nice , very respectful and definitely makes sure you have a full picture in and out of what hopeful change we are going to have. Ms. Lisa runs a great learning center. My son struggled in school with basic phonics due to a speech issues, but since we have been going here seems that school is getting a littler easier and more understanding for him. He’s in KG, so he does have a long ways to go but I believe in him truly and as well as the learning team!!! And My son has even made friends at his tutoring sessions. I enjoy and he never complains. Thanks soo much Huntington for helping support my son through his learning endeavors.

Huntington has been a great experience for my teenager. She needed assistance with math to help supplement her education during senior year and to prepare her for college. She is now feeling more confident about her skills, and she feels more prepared for the college-level coursework that’s ahead.

Paige Yackimec

Moxey Test Prep made all the difference in my son’s SAT success. He not only gained better understanding of the questions as well as strategies, Moxey Test Prep gave him confidence in his ability to succeed. Additionally, the one on one prep is invaluable in a busy student’s life — targeting specific weaknesses instead of sitting through hours of generic instruction with a large group.

Moxey Test Prep was essential in my ACT results. I struggle to do well on tests like the ACT; however, after working with Mr. Moxey, I raised my composite score from a 19 to a 30 with my English score increasing from a 21 to a 35! I am grateful to Moxey Test Prep for helping me reach my goals and boosting my confidence in applying for colleges. Highly recommend!

Melanie Rubino

My daughter was able to raise her SAT score by 90 points and reach her target goal thanks to the 8 Moxey Test Prep sessions. The sessions gave her so much practice, and patterns were pointed out to her where she was missing questions. In the end her English score for AP Literature was greatly improved as well. Can’t say enough positive things about this program and the thoughtful care and advice given to my daughter in the process.

Moxey Test Prep was the perfect supplement to our son’s SAT prep. They offer several levels of help and it was easy to schedule. During COVID our son was able to meet on Zoom calls and the content was both engaging and helpful. He enjoyed the sessions and they not only boosted his confidence, but he was able to increase his score by over 100 points. I can’t recommend Moxey Test Prep enough. We will definitely be back when our younger son begins his test prep!

Working with Moxey helped improve my daughter’s test scores significantly! After taking a practice test, we learned that my daughter would do better on the ACT. Her ACT score was equivalent to 6 points higher than her PSAT would have predicted. Moxey’s program helped her become a better test taker and gave her confidence. We will definitely use them again for the rest of our children.

My son, a junior at Carmel High School, used Moxey Test Prep for his SAT preparations. My son took his first SAT «blind» without any preparation or support. After seeing his scores we knew he could do better, but needed some direct guidance. We heard about Steve through a friend and we are SO happy that we used his services. Steve really helped to boost my son’s confidence and prepare him for his second SAT attempt. My son was able to raise his test scores by 150 points and he is now very pleased with his college choices and scholarship opportunities due to the higher scores. Thank you Moxey Test Prep!

My twin boys have been going here since they were 2 years old and they’ll be 6 this September. This daycare has really changed my perspective on daycares in general. They are like family and treat my kids as if they were their own. They are patient, kind and compassionate people and I would recommend them over any providers. 1000000/10 HIGHLY recommend!

Pre-K is very umportant to our children at this time. I ha e worked in education for 40+ yrs. and still working now with pre- school and pre-K. Kindergarten is now more like 1st grade rather then kindergarten. Our children need to develop kindergarten skills in pre-K to be ready for kindergarten. I love working with children and watching them grow to be ready for kindergarten. They are eager to learn. I don’t have any great teaching credentials but have worked in helping with children for many years. They want to learn. LET’S GIVE THEM ALL A CHANCE!!!!!!

Our son spent 8 months in the Dolphin room (the infant room) and we were very satisfied with the care that he received at SNEL. His lead teacher in the Dolphin room, Veronica, was so great and really took time to get to know him. His teachers were always very attentive and sent us pictures several times a week. We are sad that we had to leave SNEL recently due to changes in our work schedule but would gladly send our son back to SNEL.

Our baby girl has been in the infant room for over 3 months now and gets excited the moment she gets dropped off. With having to make a switch in childcare on short notice, the director Kay was super helpful in helping us get a spot quickly and provided lots of helpful info on the phone to prepare for the transition. The teachers in the infant room (as well as the rest of the staff) are always very kind & caring, diligent at logging her activities on the app as well as responding to our messages. They also are to keen to notice and ask when something seems a bit off with her (extra fussy, might be getting sick, etc.) I love hearing recommendations of what toys she loves to play with and what books she is really interested in that week. They post cute photos of her several times a week on the app which is so precious. They are always diligent about feeding her at the right time intervals (based on when she last ate before drop off). Only caveat to other new parents is that our baby gal takes shorter/fewer naps at daycare compared to home, but I think that is common with daycare setting especially in infant rooms where all babies are on such different schedules and my gal is always eager to play.

We could not be more happy with the care our daughter receives at St. Nicholas Early Learning, Inc. She has been attending for almost a year and absolutely loves to go to her «school.» All the staff know her and welcome her every morning – those who she spends time in her classroom with and those who are in other rooms. The older kid teacher is AMAZING – we cannot say enough about how much we love her. The director is always available if needed. It will be very hard for us to move her on to 4 year old preschool when the time comes. Thank you St. Nicholas staff!

Courtney Hawk

We have a child in the infant room at St. Nicholas and have been very happy with his care. Each time we pick him up, he is engaged with his teachers and they have passed on likes/dislikes to us that let us know they are getting to know him as a person and not just babysitting. As a first time parent, it has been invaluable to know that the teachers in his class have experience that I may not have and they are willing to discuss concerns with me in a non-confrontational way while also respecting our parenting choices. Communication is excellent and we love receiving updates on how his day is going. The location is very convenient for pickup and drop off and the building is secured. I would highly recommend St. Nicholas to any parent looking for an option downtown for childcare. We are looking forward to the outdoor space being complete and seeing our child grow and learn at St. Nicholas.

I simply can’t say enough good things about St. Nicholas. Our daughter is in the infant room, and we have been so incredibly happy with the love and care she has received since day 1. The teachers are attentive and truly take the time to get to know each child. They’ve picked up on personality quirks, cues, etc., and truly understand how to best care for each of the infants in the classroom! They’ve also worked with us on challenges like nap time and dietary issues. We are excited to watch our daughter learn and grow beyond just the infant room as she gets older, and would highly recommend St. Nicholas as an excellent daycare option for anyone seeking care downtown Indianapolis.

Jacqueline Hacker ☆ 5/5
Amelia Patel

We love St. Nicholas and would highly recommend them to any family! When we first started looking for childcare for our son we knew we wanted him in a space that valued diversity, in addition to placing a high focus on early educational access. Both my husband and I come from an education background so we went into the selection process with a particularly discerning eye. St. Nicholas continues to exceed our expectations! Every day we enter the building we are greeted by all teachers, not just those in the infant room with our son. Everyone knows our son and expresses genuine care for him – this is truly an environment where all children are met with love from all adults. I know our son receives excellent care because his teachers take the time to approach him at his level. They know his cues, routines, and personality so well they can always tell me when something is off or out of the ordinary. The school uses an online system with a phone app to log and track the basics of his daily routines, as well as post pictures throughout the day. This has really helped my transition back to work. The piece of mind we have knowing our son is well taken care of during the day is a true blessing. We are looking forward to seeing our son grow and learn with the school, his classmates, and his teachers.

We love St. Nicholas! My little boy is in the toddler room. The teachers are exceptional! They are so sweet and caring. You can tell how much the kids really like them. I had a hard time deciding where to send him, but I cannot be more pleased with my decision. My little boy is happy, he is learning so much, making lots of friends and becoming more independent, all while I rest assured he is in a safe environment.

Mathnasium of Nora has been incredibly helpful for my son. It has deepened his understanding of mathematical concepts while also helping him learn new skills with confidence. He genuinely enjoys the fun, positive atmosphere, and I appreciate how the instructors keep lessons light and engaging while still being highly professional. I love this daycare ! My child has been going here since she was one and she’s now 4. She’s learned so much here and she’s very well spoken from the help of Abacus. I’m beyond grateful for everyone there. Of course my baby has a specific classrooms she’s assigned too but EVERY teacher play a part in watching, teaching, and loving my baby. On the way out the door for pick up and first thing in the morning when I drop off, they all know her name & give her lots of hugs & encouragement. The teachers love their children and go above to make sure they’re safe and well taken care of. I’d choose this daycare over and over again when I have more children.

Keyonica Johnson ☆ 5/5
Renee Rankin

Horrible, the daycare stinks, they do not hardly have any teachers. The only good teachers are the 2’s and 2 1/5’s. For the year my son went there it was a horrible experience. My son started with no marks on him and now he has scars on his legs. They do not tell you when your kid gets hurts. They don’t teach, they will not potty train and you can tell them your child is allergic to food and can’t have certain foods and they will give it to them anyways. Jasmine is the only nice presented assistant director, the Indian man that does the accounting part he will test you and he is very disrespectful. He tried to over charge me for services and he has done it before then he put me on hold for 30 mins and didn’t come back to the phone. Then I called back and he hung up on me and mind you my son was still present in the daycare. I had to leave work early and picked my son up and that Indian man tried to tell me I could not take him. They should not be a level 4 they should be a zero. They are way over priced for the horrible service. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE.

There have been many changes staffs/personnel including school director but overall I can say it start to improve. I have 3 children at Abacus, 2, 4 and 11 old. They all in the front personnel are very nice and work with you and answers your questions and concerns to the best of their abilities. The only things I don’t really like is changes teachers in between classes, some teachers just need to be mindfull that the kids with running nose to keep them clean to avoid getting other children sick. Teachers needs to be a little more welcoming in the morning regardless if you are not the classroom teacher. Parents are dropping their kids in the morning and trusting you guys with the kiddos. Mrs. Brittney school director with a nice smile always willing to assist and help someone when asked or needed. Lastly big shout to Ms. Keyona, Ms. Jasmine,Ms. Mariam and Ms. Tamra thank you for all you do your patience, professionalism, caring.

We used to love this daycare. Our children were there for a total of 5 years but it all went down hill. All of the long term teachers left. Any concerns raised there were brushed off and I had to call and keep following up constantly. Staff are lazy and careless. Always on their phones and not paying attention to kids. They hire anybody and cant retain staff. The prices are way too high now for the quality. We left because I walked in on my son being physically abused!

My son who recently turned 3 started going here this fall and after only a few months his speech has improved quite a bit, he can count to 10 and knows his ABCs. The staff is great and they really care about the safety of the children. They have 1/2 day and full day schedules. I’m so glad we signed our son up for this, it will give him a huge advantage when he starts kindergarten.

I could not say better things about WELC. We were members of the WELC community for 4 years. The development I saw for both of my kids from their learning at WELC impressed me. As a former preschool teacher and someone who pays close attention to the quality of my children’s early childcare experiences I believe the WELC is one of the best preschools/early learning centers in Indianapolis.

My son absolutely loves his teacher! All the staff is extremely kind and thoughtful and genuinely treat your child like their own. We enrolled our son at 2 years old and he will be there until he starts kindergarten.

Frequently asked questions about tutoring centers in Indianapolis

What types of subjects do tutoring centers typically cover?

Tutoring centers in Indianapolis frequently offer support across a broad spectrum of subjects. You’ll often find centers specializing in elementary school subjects like reading, writing, and mathematics, alongside support for middle school students in science, social studies, and language arts. Many centers also cater to high school students preparing for standardized tests such as the SAT and ACT, and offer advanced coursework support in subjects like calculus, chemistry, and physics. It’s beneficial to check a center’s specific offerings before committing to a program.

What age groups do tutoring centers serve?

Tutoring centers in Indianapolis generally serve a wide range of age groups. Some centers specialize in early childhood education, focusing on foundational skills. Others cater to elementary school children needing assistance with core subjects. Many also support middle school students during a period of significant academic growth and offer services for high school students preparing for college entrance exams. Some centers even provide support for adult learners pursuing continuing education or professional development. The ideal center will align with your child’s specific age and needs.

How do tutoring centers differ from traditional private tutoring?

While both tutoring centers and private tutors provide individualized support, there are key differences. Tutoring centers often offer a more structured learning environment with small group sessions alongside one-on-one support. This can foster a sense of community and provide students with opportunities to learn from their peers. Private tutors typically offer a more personalized approach tailored directly to a student’s specific learning style and goals, but may lack the support systems found in a center. Consider your child's preferred learning style and goals when deciding between the two.

What is the typical learning environment like at a tutoring center?

The learning environment at a tutoring center in Indianapolis can vary depending on the center. However, many centers strive to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere. You can often expect to find a dedicated space with individual work stations, computers, and a range of educational materials. Some centers emphasize interactive learning through games and activities, while others focus on more traditional methods like worksheets and practice problems. The quality of the space and the overall atmosphere contribute to a student's learning experience.

How are tutors selected and qualified?

Reputable tutoring centers in Indianapolis carefully select their tutors. Many require tutors to hold a bachelor's degree, and increasingly, they demand specific subject matter expertise and experience. A strong emphasis is placed on communication skills and the ability to effectively explain concepts to students. Many centers conduct background checks and require tutors to demonstrate proficiency in the subjects they teach. It’s important to inquire about a center’s hiring process and the qualifications of their tutors to ensure a good fit.

What is the cost of tutoring services at a center?

The cost of tutoring services at a center in Indianapolis can vary significantly based on the type of support, the length of the sessions, and the tutor’s experience. Generally, hourly rates range from approximately $30 to $75. Many centers offer package deals that provide discounted rates for multiple sessions. Some centers also offer membership options which can provide access to unlimited tutoring for a fixed monthly fee. Comparing prices and understanding the payment structure are essential for budgeting.

How do tutoring centers assess a student’s needs?

Before starting tutoring, a good tutoring center will conduct a thorough assessment of a student’s needs. This typically involves an initial consultation with a tutor or educational specialist to discuss the student’s academic goals, strengths, and weaknesses. The center may administer a diagnostic test to identify specific areas where the student needs support. Based on this assessment, the center will develop a personalized learning plan tailored to the student’s individual requirements. This demonstrates a commitment to a holistic approach to learning.

What types of learning materials do tutoring centers use?

Tutoring centers in Indianapolis employ a diverse range of learning materials to cater to different learning styles. They may utilize workbooks, practice tests, interactive software, online resources, and manipulatives (especially for younger students). Many centers incorporate technology into their programs, using tablets and computers for educational games and interactive lessons. The effectiveness of materials should be considered alongside the tutor’s expertise.

How do tutoring centers measure student progress?

Tutoring centers employ various methods to track student progress. This may include regular assessments, progress reports, and one-on-one feedback sessions with the tutor. Some centers utilize online tracking systems to monitor student performance on assignments and practice tests. Consistent communication between the tutor, student, and parents is crucial for monitoring learning outcomes and making necessary adjustments to the learning plan. Regular feedback loops ensure ongoing improvement.
