Be prepared!! I was excited to go to Indy to celebrate with my husband. He found a cool Tiki-themed place to go. We decided to park and walk up to the Fountain Square. We were met with a tent city, then several encounters with homeless getting way to close to us. We took the pictures of a couple small fountains. I was already uneasy, so we decided to head back. Not much good to see in the area… another homeless man came up on us from behind a building and then a big truck tried to run a man down across the street from us and he pulled out his gun on the guy!!! To say I was ready to leave without even going in the Inferno Room was so sad. Bet we were not safe in this area!!!!

We went to Fountain Square for my brother’s girlfriends birthday we went bowling at Atomic bowl. It was different to say the least. It was original duck pin bowling with these baby pins and little ball. It was a very old bowling alley (rustic) but we did have fun but I think I will stick to regular bowling next time.

A place that is coming alive. We enjoyed walking around and the square area. We were on the hunt for things the the two chicks and a hammer talked about on GOOD BONES. The square are was clean, safe, and inviting.

From beginning until the end was perfect. The customer service was top tier. Even on the day of my event (yesterday 8/23) the staff made sure all of my needs were met. They even checked on me during the event, but still kept their distance. The space I chose was exactly what I needed for my Sneakerball Memorial Dinner. I would recommend this venue. I would most definitely return to this venue if I ever needed one in the future. The owner and staff did not disappoint. (Decor done by me)

Really enjoyed The Spotlight Center today as they hosted Black Friday Small Business Marketplace. The place has multiple rooms.. vendors were in 2 different rooms, they have security and maintenance crew! So if you had a spill they helped cleaned. DJ Rob B was on the 1s and 2s. Overall once the second room reached temperature the place was absolutely comfortable! Thank you for this experience and hope to see you next Black Friday! Blended Paradise Owner ~ Kay D

Worst company I have ever worked for. Lazy staff. Not knowledgeable and they don’t care about the public like they suppose to. Everyone is either on the phone or just sitting doing nothing. Paperwork is not done in a timely manner. Poor work ethics and a work place environment. I would never want to work here again. I thought I was being part of a good company and could learn how involve myself with the community more. Not at all

The only reason there are two stars is because of the receptionists. They are taking all of the responsibilities for the lack of communication of certain departments and the receptionists are able to stay smiling throughout the entire thing. THEY DESERVE A RAISE AND ALL OF THE PRAISE. After emailing, calling and leaving voicemails starting in November through the beginning of April (easily 30 emails and voicemails each) NOT A SINGLE PERSON from the Indy Energy Assistance Program has called me back, emailed me back, or even updated my online portal to say what was wrong with my application at all. After months of waiting I finally saw through the online portal that my application was processed, and the status was… incomplete. It was my oversight and the semi confusing language that says provide the last 90 days of income, but in actuality they mean provide the last 90 days of income not including the current month of your application. Would be an easy fix… IF THEY WERE TO GAVE TOLD ME THAT IS. The two times I was able to get ahold of somebody via phone I was told both times that someone would be giving me a call back to help sort this out and see what I have to fix and the final time I was told by that same person they would call me specifically by the end of the day. None of that happened. And now back to no one answering the calls anymore. I know that this is a local govt assistance program, but still, can we not treat people like human beings, what their calls of panic and worry, and Even if you don’t have the answer to just give them the information that you do know or just listen to them… At the very least?!

If I could give zero stars I would. Applied for the EAP and my application was processed but they need more information. Fine but I have tried calling to talk to someone about it. No one ever answers the phone. No one calls back. I have emailed as well and no response there either. It’s almost like they don’t want to help people in need.

My experience is pretty much the same as everyone else’s.
I applied for EAP in January, never heard anything back. Applied again in March when I got rental assistance with trustees office. (Which was more helpful than EAP.) Never heard anything back from EAP. I called and left multiple voicemails. I emailed them and contacted them through their site and never heard anything back. I finally decided to go up there and ask someone about my application status, denied. And I couldn’t do anything about it cause it is past april and the 30 days is long gone. The lady said they sent a letter in the mail but they never did cause I would have gotten it.
Their only saving grace is the lady at the front desk is kind. Otherwise this place is a joke and lacks all kinds of communication. I’m going to try these resources I was given (because “I make too much money” for the help) but they probably won’t be able to help me either.

I have left messages several times and waited at least 2 weeks in between calls to give someone an opportunity and plenty of time to call me back, but since it hasn’t happened I am going to complain! If you need help answering the phone, I am looking for a part-time job. I would say for you to call me but, you know… lol

I would give a negative 1 if possible. After rearranging my priorities, taking my son to work and driving 45m from West to Eastside to attend this class just to find out it’s canceled. Not the way you show the community that you’re at all serious about helping. very disappointing!

We had an amazing experience with the Community Life Center! Carlie was a delight to work with—so attentive and organized, ensuring everything went smoothly. The venue is absolutely stunning! The modern design and beautiful natural light created the perfect atmosphere for our celebration. It’s clear that they genuinely care about their space. We also had access to fantastic vendors who helped bring our vision to life, from catering to florists. Our family loved every minute of the event, with one member saying that, “This was the best event we’ve ever attended!” I highly recommend the Community Life Ceneter for anyone looking for a gorgeous venue with exceptional service. Thank you, Carlie and the team, for a perfect experience!

I had the best experience having my wedding here 8/29/21. My suggestion is to pay extra for the day of coordinator. I got Tracie and she was absolutely AMAZING. I didn’t worry about anything on my special day she literally took care of EVERYTHING. I would recommend this place over and over again. Very affordable considering how beautiful this venue is also.

It was so hot in the viewing area. Controlled climate through Indy and couldn’t turn down heat so was very hot for those gathering. Already stressful time so would have been nice to have it cooler for family and guests. No signage for deceased so people were coming to wrong viewing and had to walk to other side of center which makes parking terrible for proper guest parking. Absolutely beautiful facility.

The staff is very courteous. And helpful. The meals they serve are very nutritious. You can always get a hearty meal too. I was offered to have as much as I wanted to eat. The dining room is very clean as well as the cooking facility. They offer a food pantry that is a once a month pantry providing enough food for 3 days. There is also a free clothing store that I haven’t used this service yet.

You must call to make an appointment for Wednesdays when they’re open. They give canned goods, produce, meals and toiletries. It’s a bit hard to find, but you go on back past the playground. Great staff, and overall, great food bank. Bike parking is available, and the #14 bus passes by. Parking is out back.

Fletcher Place is a multi- faceted community center. I went to the Golden Age luncheon hosted by Stanfield Ladies Circle. I’ve been several times and I’m never disappointed. The presentation this time was Drinks Destroy Teeth by Diane Buyer, DDS. Excellent information, well presented. Food was good, Bingo was fun!

They’re throwing my kid out of a. Group they have spent most of the school. Year working on because I want more information than a flight number when they take my kid across the country. The paid internship is completely disorganized and the website said $1500. The kids were paid 750 where is the rest?? Does @best buy know that the money isn’t going where it’s supposed to?

A welcoming place with multiple resources located at this address. There are GED classes, a food pantry, a smoking cessation program., and more. During the LIHEAP season for winter, forms can be dropped off for processing. The staff is friendly and helpful. Don’t be afraid to go to their front desk and ask questions. All are welcome!

We were members of the JCC several years ago and both went early several mornings a week. Our fitness, health and attitudes improved. Then both our jobs required more travel and we let our membership and my fitness lapse.
Now we qualify for Silver Sneakers and once again have the whole great facility and its trainers available. Our fitness is much improved.
We do two group classes a week with Trainer Jim Gould. He keeps it light-hearted, changes it up, allows people to work to their abilities and has wonderful and varied music selections. (Register early, his classes fill quickly.)

We visited the JCC Aquatic center for the first time to attend a 2 hour dog dip event. I didn’t get to see the entire center but the aquatic center itself was massive.
The water was well maintained and there were pools of different heights starting from 1 all the way to 6 feet. It does look like it gets very busy in summer with all the classes.
We had a great time at the center and enjoyed the expansive area which gave us ample privacy as well as a good time for interaction with other guests.
I will definitely check out membership and prices for the next season!

Will never become a member here due to rudeness of front desk guy on 6/11. Horrible attitude and too busy looking at his phone to help. Rolled his eyes when I asked why the website says they offer guest passes but they actually don’t. There are way better options with welcoming front desk people.

4 out of 5 stars because although we really love the outdoor water park, the inside leaves much to be desired.
The JCC is always a clean, minimally-crowded place to workout. They have classes for various age groups & the current construction shows they’re intentional about modernizing and improving the facility.
As of mom, the lack of a child-watch program is what separates me from being a full season member vs our annual summer membership only.

I love in a hotel I was told by others that stay at the hotel and by hotel staff that this place would help me with paying my rent to the hotel. I call and ask what do I need to do or show I get told that y’all don’t help people like me. I have a 6month old son I was pregnant when I called and yet there are people at the hotel I stay at getting help and yet I can’t get anything from any of the so called resources here. I wonder sometimes if I was from a different country if I could get the help I need.

Initial Consultations and Case Assessment
A civil attorney can provide an initial consultation to understand your situation, identify claims and defenses, and outline a clear case assessment. In Indianapolis, this process typically includes a review of the facts, a discussion of potential legal strategies, and an explanation of timeline expectations and costs. The goal is to establish a plan that prioritizes client rights, confidentiality, and practical outcomes.
Contract Drafting and Review
For business, real estate, or personal transactions, a civil attorney offers contract drafting and review to prevent ambiguities and reduce risk. Key elements include clear terms, liability clauses, indemnification, and dispute resolution provisions. In Indianapolis, professionals handle commercial agreements, lease documents, and construction contracts, highlighting potential risks and practical remedies.
Dispute Resolution and Negotiation
Dispute resolution encompasses mediation, arbitration, and structured negotiations aimed at a settlement without a trial. Civil attorneys draft precise settlement proposals, issue demand letters, and assess enforceability of agreements. In Indianapolis, access to professional mediators and a clear path to compliance with orders can save time and resources while preserving relationships.
Civil Litigation and Court Representation
When litigation is required, civil attorneys represent clients in state and federal courts, including Indianapolis venues. Services include developing a case theory, managing discovery, filing motions, and preparing for trial. They coordinate evidence, expert testimony, and appeals, providing ongoing updates on risk and cost throughout the process.
Personal Injury and Negligence
Personal injury matters cover injuries from accidents or negligence. Civil attorneys explain Indiana's statutory deadlines and help gather medical documentation, wage loss, and damages estimates. They seek fair compensation for economic and non-economic losses, including medical expenses, lost income, and pain and suffering, through negotiation or trial as appropriate.
Property, Real Estate, and Landlord-Tenant Disputes
Disputes involving property often require focused real estate advice from a civil attorney. They assist with lease negotiations, eviction proceedings, and resolution of title defects. Guidance covers zoning, property boundaries, and ownership transfers, with an emphasis on protecting ownership rights and pursuing remedies such as damages or specific performance when warranted.
Consumer Rights and Protection
Consumers can rely on civil attorneys for assistance with consumer protection laws, including handling cases of fraud, defective products, and misleading advertising. In Indiana, the Deceptive Consumer Practices Act (DCPA) and related regulations guide remedies and recourse, helping clients pursue refunds, warranty claims, and appropriate remedies.
Employment and Business Law
Employment and business law services cover workplace rights, wage and hour disputes, discrimination, and wrongful termination. Civil attorneys also assist with business formation, partnership issues, non-compete agreements, and contract negotiations, ensuring compliance with state and federal law and reducing liability for individuals and organizations.

Frequently asked questions about community centers in Indianapolis
What services do community centers in Indianapolis offer?
Community centers in Indianapolis provide a broad mix of programs and amenities designed to support families, youth, seniors, and individuals with diverse interests. Typical services include recreation activities, educational programs, and family support initiatives. Centers may host fitness classes, after-school programs, language and literacy resources, and arts and cultural events. Some sites partner with schools, libraries, and local nonprofits to maximize impact. Availability and focus often reflect the needs of the surrounding community, so offerings can vary by location.
Are community centers in Indianapolis affordable for residents?
Affordability is a priority for many centers. Many locations provide sliding-scale fees, free programs, or scholarships to residents who qualify. Registration may be limited by space, so it’s helpful to check early. Some classes are funded by city programs or grants, which helps keep costs low for families. If income is a barrier, ask about fee waivers or scholarships during the intake process.
How can I find the location and hours of a center near me?
To locate a center and confirm hours, use the city’s official resources and local listings. The Indianapolis government website often lists centers, hours, and programs. You can also contact the center directly by phone or email to confirm hours of operation and special events. Online maps and directories provide directions and contact details, and many centers post updates on social media. If you need accessibility options, call ahead to confirm accessible facilities and services.
What programs are available for children and youth?
Programs for children and youth commonly include after-school programs, tutoring, homework help, and summer camps. There are also youth sports leagues, arts workshops, and leadership activities that build skills and confidence. Safety guidelines are typically in place, with supervision by trained staff. Families should review eligibility, schedules, and any required forms at registration. Some programs may require immunization records or age verification.
Do community centers offer space for events or meetings?
Yes, many centers provide space for community meetings, birthdays, club gatherings, and non-profit events. Facilities range from meeting rooms and community halls to classrooms and gymnasiums. Rental policies vary, including security deposits, hourly rates, and cancellation policies. It’s typical to reserve a space well in advance and to review facility usage rules about food, noise, and setup. Some centers also offer free spaces for non-profits under certain conditions.
How can I volunteer or donate to a center in Indianapolis?
Volunteerism and donations are common ways to support centers. Opportunities include helping with program delivery, tutoring, event planning, and community outreach. Donations may fund scholarships, equipment, and operating costs, and many centers recognize donors through listings or events. Background checks may be required for volunteers who work with youth. Partnerships with local businesses and service clubs can amplify impact, and some centers offer volunteer orientations and trainings.
What accessibility options exist at community centers?
Accessibility covers physical access, communication needs, and inclusive programs. Most centers are ADA compliant with accessible entrances, restrooms, and parking. Interpretation and translation services may be available for non-native English speakers, and staff can accommodate alternate formats for printed materials. Programs often include adaptive activities to involve people with different abilities. It’s helpful to inquire about assistive devices or service animal policies if relevant.
How do centers support seniors and people with disabilities?
Centers support seniors and people with disabilities through social events, health and wellness programs, transportation information, and care coordination resources. Some locations offer senior meals, exercise classes, and outreach services. Staff may help connect residents with local healthcare providers and benefit programs. Transportation partnerships with local agencies help keep opportunities accessible.
What safety measures and policies do centers have?
Safety is a priority at community centers. Policies cover visitor screening, child safety, and codes of conduct for participants. Centers typically implement emergency procedures, incident reporting, and staff training in first aid and de-escalation. It’s wise to review rules about belongings, facility access, and guest policies before visiting. When in doubt, ask for a copy of the center’s safety and policy guidelines.
How can I get involved in decision-making or advisory boards?
Getting involved in governance or advisory work is possible at several centers. Some run advisory boards, focus groups, or neighborhood councils that help shape programs and priorities. The process usually involves an application, meeting attendance, and a review of eligibility. Attending open public meetings and providing feedback can be a first step. If you want to contribute, ask staff about current openings, time commitments, and potential impact on program planning.
