Oh my WOW this place was SO COOL!!! Even if you’re not shopping, there’s just SO. MUCH. STUFF. to look at!!! Taxidermy, fainting couches, uranium glass, signed photograph from Gilligan’s island cast, old pharmaceutical bottles, cowhide, you name it! I will say that the facility is not air conditioned, so try to visit on a cooler day, unless you’re wearing lighter clothes! It can get pretty stuffy

This place is huge and fun towalk around and see all the various things sellers have in store. After an hour or so I do become overwhelmed from the sheer amount of very different items I’m perusing. Great place!

Very large mall with lots of vintage, antique, and homemade items. I loved “Uncle Weirdo’s” and bought a couple things from there. You could spend a whole day wandering around, but I think it would annoy the staff.

Giga vintage and antique vendor mall with 2 stories of stuff to look at. The building itself looks antique. You’ll get lost. It’s super cool stuff, perhaps a bit overpriced. No issues or complaints.

I went in looking to find items for a play set in 1974. The young woman working was incredibly helpful and nice. She directed me to where I needed to look and shared other things as she found them herself. The selection here is great and prices are fair. I found some amazing pieces!

I have lived on the south side of the city and did not know this place existed. There are so many unique and interesting things here and I found the best items for my grandpa’s birthday. They have so many different items from glasses to furniture to trains, postcards, mugs. Anything you can think of is here.

Gorgeous store but two-faced staff. I collect sterling silver jewelry and was browsing the cases. The employee was very kind to us directly as she helped us try on rings in the cases, and we didn’t land on anything because none of them fit on the fingers I wanted to wear them on. I was excited to add this to my list of stores I visit regularly until a friend who was with us informed us that the employee was complaining that we wasted her time and did not buy anything! Very disappointing to hear that type of attitude.

A very nice shop, filled with a variety of booths with all kinds of interesting pieces. The staff are always friendly and willing to help.
I participated in their one-day “Fall Sale” in September 2025, and was very happy with the results. Communication was good, a great crowd, amenities available and a successful day overall. I appreciate their efforts in letting people bring their items up to find new homes.
Go check it out… and stop by Long’s Bakery afterward for a brownie!

So much variety! Lots of glass cases. So huge we couldn’t see it all in one day. Not a big fan of the check out system. Shoppers move from a long line to individual cashiers, then they all wrap stuff and put it into bags. We checked inside to make sure we got our stuff.

This place exists in an optical illusion. From the outside, one would never imagine the incredible amount of merchandise that exists on inside. So many twists and turns, so rooms that lead into other rooms. There’s tons of vendors selling a wide variety of vintage and antique items. Definitely worth checking out, but look for the maps…or you could get lost.

I was there this past Saturday, May 3rd, I found a few items, one that the gentleman that owned the item was there and agreed to sell the vase for $13 versus full price, no problems there – he told the cashier i was telling the truth. I asked the cashier about the vase in my hand – said she was authorized to give me 10%. I said that is great. She rang it up, as I stood there and looked at my receipt I noticed she didn’t give me the 10% discount. I told her she needed to fix the mistake – her response, “all sales are final, I can’t do that” – I responded, don’t want a return, just fix your mistake – she refused and walked away. I admit – I then got loud and said that it was BS and I should be given my money and walked out. Happen to run into a couple that were behind me at Long’s bakery and the lady said – we saw what happened and that place has the horrible customer service and I should complain. I deserved my money back. So here I am! Be AWARE – watch them closely before you give them payment.

I recently visited Jos A. Bank and was impressed by the efficient, courteous service. The staff listened to my needs, offered thoughtful styling options, and helped me find a reliable suit quickly. Quality fabrics and classic cuts feel dependable, not trendy.
The checkout was smooth, pricing clear, and a friendly tailor adjusted the garment without delay. Professional guidance helped me pick accessories that elevate the outfit, and the store’s layout made browsing effortless.

I’ve been meaning to share this for weeks now:
I had a wedding in NYC, and I needed a tux. The Fashion Mall store couldn’t have been more helpful and kind, particularly Martha, who guided me through every step of the process and made sure I got a great tux. She was SO kind to me.
And, on top of all this kindness, I was able to return the tux at a Men’s Wearhouse in Brooklyn! So I didn’t even have to carry it home!
This was a GREAT service.

This place is great. Even if you’re trying to save money, the clearance section is fully stocked with nice jackets, pants, and other clothes. A wide selection of ties and undershirts as well. However what really made it is the staff. Specifically Jayden. Our daughter was getting fussy and he brought out a snack to help calm her down once we realized everything we brought was empty. He helped talk me through sizes and fits, explaining what looked good and what options I had. Even after we focused on the less expensive options he was understanding and not pushy. He was incredible and made what was becoming a very stressful outing into a manageable experience. I’ll come back here for any of my nicer clothing needs.

Update:
I’ve been back to the store multiple times for both help with original orders (my size changed)… And purchasing more clothing!
I’ve now worked with Dorinda, Avery, and Martha as well as consulting with the tailor Angel.
I can’t remember the last time i have had such personal and excellent service!!
Everyone was amazing… Working through exchanges, coordinating colors and patterns, and even providing thoughtful and creative solutions in the tailoring to make everything work together and create both elegance and personalization for me.
Store manager Dorinda is awesome, as is Avery, Martha, and Angel. I have had wonderful experiences EVERY time (so far about 9 visits since May). Please let them know that they are great.
Original review:
Great customer service… Sales staff pays attention to everything from fit to style to price points and spends time with you generously. It seems like there are always sales and /or price incentives on virtually all clothing categories as well.
These days It’s not easy to find a brick and mortar place for menswear that isn’t more interested in fast fads than dressing the customer according to their tastes and needs.
They stock a very large array of sizes and styles from skinny to big and tall.
There are great sales and a rewards program.
Looking forward to shopping there again.

Staff very friendly and helpful. They were not busy at the time I was there but still very attentive even helped me pick out a cream shirt and you can see the tie. While staff were friendly and helpful, the signs were deceptive. What appeared to be on sale was not. Staff stopped being as friendly when I complained. What started good ended poorly. I paid because I had invested the time. Bad deal. Won’t be back.

I would recommend for men! They have very good quality items worth the price. Lots of different sports and vintage items. Most “expensive” price items were the posters but even then, not TO BAD. But, barely anything for women. Maybe some hats, bags, and one pair of shoes I saw. Decorations were very cute as well. The person working was kind as well.

After months of searching, I came across a grail item via a Google search that they listed. I purchased it, and, unfortunately, there was a mix up with what got delivered – I got someone else’s hat and they got mine. Aaron worked with me to return the hat. The other buyer initially wasn’t responsive, but Aaron reached out a couple of times and they finally returned it and it safely made its way to me. Big thank you to Aaron for making sort things out and making this happen. The rest of the store looks great, and I’ll continue to shop online. If I’m ever in Naptown, I’ll stop in.

Siera could not have been more helpful and kind to me and my family. We cleaned out the house of a loved one who we lost and she not only picked up the vintage items that we were getting rid of, but hauled away other items to be disposed of and/or donated. She was responsive and considerate and made the difficult job of cleaning out a home much more manageable. We have so much gratitude for her and her business and feel so lucky that we found her.

I stopped in from out of town, & this shop has amazing vintage in a bunch of styles!! Other reviews had me bracing for high prices but perhaps folks need to recalibrate b/c prices are great for pieces that have lasted for so long and have been cleaned, curated and well-cared for. Indy has a gem!!

I love thrifting and wearing vintage clothes, especially dress clothes. I wanted to support a local business instead of Goodwill, but the prices are insane! I brought $40 cash with me because I figured it was a vintage store and the prices would be fair. Boy was I wrong! I couldn’t buy anything I looked at because everything is $50+. I mean, $120 for a jumpsuit? You’ve got to be kidding me. Luckily there’s a Goodwill down the road, which I’m guessing they use to fill their store and jack up the prices. Not worth the visit.

I called and the gentleman said to send him pictures and I did. He called and said he would give me 50 bucks for a sowing machine i had. I had a drive twenty miles to get to the store to be told they weren’t going to give me anything for it. It’s bad business, and in my life. Did you say you’re going to do something before you say you’re gonna get somebody something, do you do that. Reading eat just another person and the world, and their word means nothing

I’m absolutely in LOVE with this place! There are so many neat items inside, and everywhere you turn there is something more gorgeous than the last. If you’re a fan of antique jewelry, this is the place to go! Reasonable prices. They can also buy your unwanted stuff too. The owner, and people that work there are very pleasant as well. This is my favorite place to shop for jewelry!

I thought they would only have antiques. But no. They have jewelry that will fit any generation of jewelry fans. I purchased me a sterling silver chain. Normally i would pay $80 for 18 inch rope. But not here. $50. I was so in shock i had to buy me two chains. Lbvs.

Consultations and Legal Guidance
A civil attorney in Indianapolis can provide thorough initial consultations and ongoing legal guidance for vintage shop owners and collectors. The process begins with a comprehensive intake that gathers facts, documents, and goals. A detailed case assessment outlines potential strategies, risks, and likely outcomes, helping clients understand the legal landscape surrounding procurement, appraisal, and display practices. Attorneys explain legal options and practical considerations, including fees, timing, and procedure, so shop owners can plan responsibly. They review supplier agreements, consignment terms, and liability waivers, as well as provenance questions and insurance requirements, to ensure a sound basis for decision-making. In Indianapolis, this service often coordinates with local regulators and industry groups to tailor advice to the city’s market and regulatory environment. By clarifying rights, obligations, and available avenues, the attorney supports informed, proactive planning for the vintage trade.
Contract Drafting and Review
Contract work for vintage shops covers contract drafting and contract review of inventories, supplier relationships, and store operations. Civil attorneys in Indianapolis can help create clear terms for inventory purchases, consignment terms, and lease terms with landlords or pop-up spaces. They emphasize risk allocation and enforceable remedies, ensuring terms address delivery schedules, returns, warranties, and payment structures. Attorneys also assess standard form agreements used with consignors, auction houses, and potential partners to mitigate disputes and clarify ownership and title transfer. The focus remains on robust documentation that supports business continuity while protecting rights under state law and local ordinances, particularly for storefronts, events, and online channels tied to Indianapolis markets.
Licensing, Permits, and Regulatory Compliance
Retail and antiques businesses require proper licensing and adherence to a range of licensing and compliance obligations. Civil attorneys in Indianapolis can guide business licenses, permits for signage or events, and registrations required for resale activities. They address zoning compliance, occupancy limits, and local health or safety regulations that may apply to showroom spaces and auctions. Sales tax compliance practices, collection methods, and reporting responsibilities are also covered, along with recordkeeping and audit readiness. The attorney’s role includes developing a proactive compliance program that aligns with Indiana statutes and city rules, reducing risk and facilitating smooth operations for vintage retailers and collectors alike.
Intellectual Property and Brand Protection
Vintage shops often rely on distinctive branding and unique product presentation. Civil attorneys can support intellectual property strategies, including trademark protection for store names and logos, and securing copyrights for marketing materials and photography. They advise on appropriate use of images, catalog descriptions, and product labels to avoid infringement. Brand protection practices and license agreements help retailers collaborate with designers, photographers, and distributors while preserving exclusive rights and market position. In Indianapolis, this guidance helps maintain a cohesive brand identity across physical spaces, online storefronts, and event-based showcases.
Real Estate, Leases, and Property Transactions
Real estate matters for vintage shops include lease negotiations, due diligence, and title review for storefronts, storage facilities, and pop-up locations. Civil attorneys advise on property transactions and lease terms that balance cost, space requirements, and flexibility to host markets or exhibitions. They assess zoning, occupancy permits, and insurance implications tied to particular spaces. If disputes arise with landlords or neighbors, the attorney can guide on dispute resolution strategies while safeguarding the shop’s operations and inventory. The goal is to secure favorable real estate arrangements that support growth and sustainability within Indianapolis’ retail landscape.
Dispute Resolution, Mediation, and Negotiation
When conflicts occur, mediation and arbitration offer alternatives to litigation that can save time and preserve business relationships. Civil attorneys facilitate negotiation with suppliers, consignors, or customers and help craft settlements that align with the client’s objectives. They also prepare clients for potential civil actions by evaluating claims, assembling evidence, and outlining dispute resolution strategies. In Indianapolis, local courts and mediators may provide accessible pathways to resolution, supporting a practical approach to resolving disputes without lengthy courtroom processes.
Civil Litigation, Court Representation, and Appeals
In the event disputes require formal judicial action, civil attorneys provide court representation and develop a robust litigation strategy. They manage all phases of civil suits, including pleadings, discovery, and motion practice, aiming for efficient resolutions and favorable outcomes. Settlements are pursued when appropriate, and opportunities for appeals are explored if necessary. This comprehensive lifecycle applies to commercial disputes, property issues, contract disagreements, and intellectual property matters that involve vintage retailers in Indiana’s capital and surrounding areas.
Consumer Protection, Small Claims, and Ethical Compliance
Vintage shops must navigate consumer protection laws and fair dealing standards. Civil attorneys assist with small claims actions, misrepresentation concerns, and warranty disclosures that may arise in the sale of antiques or vintage goods. They help establish transparent return policies, accurate product descriptions, and compliant advertising practices to avoid consumer complaints. Additionally, they advise on ethics and professional conduct guidelines to ensure responsible business practices across all channels, from in-store sales to online auctions and consignments within Indianapolis’ marketplace.
Frequently asked questions about vintage shops in Indianapolis
Where are the best places to shop for vintage in Indianapolis?
Fountain Square, Mass Ave, and Broad Ripple are well-known clusters for vintage shopping, with a mix of small, independent stores and quirky boutiques. Each district offers a distinct vibe and curated inventories that often emphasize local history and handpicked items. You can expect a range of goods from mid-century furniture to retro apparel and collectibles. Parking and hours can vary by shop, so it helps to check individually or plan a walking route. Several shops in these areas participate in community events, which can make a day of browsing quite enjoyable.
What kinds of items are typically found in Indianapolis vintage shops?
Indianapolis vintage shops commonly feature a broad assortment of items, including clothing, footwear, and accessories for men, women, and children, as well as jewelry and bags. You’ll also find furniture, home decor, records, posters, cameras, and other collectibles. Many stores curate by era, so you can discover everything from 1930s dresses to 1990s sneakers. The selection tends to rotate frequently, so regular visits are common to catch new arrivals.
How can I tell if an item is authentic or in good condition?
Evaluating authenticity and condition starts with examining labels, brand marks, and fabric tags, as well as the craftsmanship evident in seams and stitching. Check for wear patterns, discoloration, and any repairs or alterations. Request clear photos of any flaws, and ask about return policies and guarantees. For higher-value items, consider a quick professional appraisal if available in the store. Always compare the item to known references before making a purchase.
How are prices determined in vintage shops?
Prices in vintage shops reflect factors such as age, condition, rarity, and demand for the item. Some pieces are priced with flexible margins, while others have fixed tags. Seasonal sales and bundle discounts may appear, and some stores offer clearance racks as a way to move older inventory. It’s helpful to know typical price ranges for items you’re shopping for so you can recognize fair value. When in doubt, ask staff about the basis for the price.
Do Indianapolis vintage shops offer any special services like tailoring or restoration?
Many shops provide tailoring or alteration recommendations, and some offer basic restoration or repair services in-house or via trusted partners. Some stores may also assist with consignment processes, helping you sell items from your own collection. If you’re shopping for a specific fit or condition, inquire about these services before purchasing. Availability varies by shop, so a quick call or email can save time.
What should I know about sizing when shopping vintage?
Size labels on vintage pieces often differ from modern sizing, so it’s important to rely on measurements rather than tag numbers. Bring a measuring tape to compare bust, waist, hip, and length against your own measurements, and consider trying on if the shop has a fitting room. Look for alteration-friendly designs and note potential hem or seam adjustments you’d be comfortable with. Remember that era-specific sizing can vary widely between brands and periods.
When is the best time to shop for deals in Indianapolis vintage stores?
Weekday mornings or early afternoons can be calmer, making it easier to browse and inspect items carefully. End-of-season clearances and store-wide sales are common, especially around holiday weekends. Some districts host First Friday events with extended hours and specials, which can be a great way to discover new pieces while enjoying the neighborhood atmosphere. Signing up for store newsletters can also alert you to upcoming promotions and restocks.
What is the difference between vintage and thrift or consignment shops in Indianapolis?
In general, vintage shops curate items that are at least a few decades old, emphasizing stylistic authenticity and era authenticity. Thrift stores often rely on donations and carry a broader, less curated mix of items at lower prices. Consignment shops sell items on behalf of owners and take a percentage of the sale price. Understanding these differences helps set expectations for selection, pricing, and availability.
How can I verify a vintage shop's reputation and safety?
Check online reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or social media, and seek local recommendations from fellow collectors or friends. A well-lit, organized shop with clear pricing, friendly staff, and transparent policies tends to reflect reliable operations. If a store offers security measures at checkout and preserves items in good condition, that is a positive indicator. You can also visit during less busy times to observe how staff handle questions and concerns.
What are tips for caring for and preserving vintage items I buy?
After purchasing, follow the care instructions on tags and keep delicate items in appropriate storage conditions, away from direct sunlight and extreme humidity. For textiles, consider dry cleaning or gentle hand washing when recommended, and use acid-free tissue for long-term storage. Protect furniture with moth-preventive measures and humidity controls, and employ professional restoration when necessary. Regular maintenance helps preserve the value and beauty of your vintage finds.
