Customer Reviews

I love the Indianapolis Public Library - Wayne Branch. They have friendly staff/volunteers and the building and restrooms have always been clean when I've visited.
They have recently renovated this location and with the new design layout for the book shelves the space looks so much bigger than it used to!
Their computers are spread out more throughout the library now and not
taking up a chunk of space right when you walk into the adult/teen area which is really nice.
Because of COVID, you now can only return borrowed books to the outdoor return slot, which is right next to the entry door so this return option isn't really an inconvenience. Because all borrowed books being returned have to go into a 4 day quarantine before being reshelved, they are waving most fees associated with late returns. (I.E. if you turn your book in on it's actual due date, it sits for a minimum of 4 days before being checked back in, you are not being charged for your book being 4 days late).
I haven't had any issues with coming/going to get new books with COVID. Mask are required to enter, but that is the norm for most places right now. But socially distancing speaking, I haven't had an issues with keeping space between myself and others. Will be hopefully visiting for years to come!

Jesus, that was the worst visit ever. You can make one of those signs say the location with the worst visit ever and post it in your office. Honestly, did your reference librarian go to college? He knows nothing about the history of Wayne Township. I went to the library's main branch to find information and then to the state library. Both places referred me to the Wayne Township library and said that the reference librarian would help me with what I needed. So he sat me down with the computer and showed me the website they used at the main branch.

I walked in the Wayne Township branch for what should have been a 20 minute max job getting on a library computer to send a prepared, sensitive document to the library printer, print the document & leave!
First, I find out that my library card had all of a sudden expired (no expiration date on the card and no notification sent to my home address). So I fill out the form & get my new library card.
I scan my new card at the computer reservation desk & get assigned computer #1. Not only when I got to computer #1, it was turned off, but that apparently you do not have to get the computer reservation first. There were no signs up anywhere regarding this change & the computer reservation station was still in place (If there is no reservation needed, take out the reservation station & inform guests that a computer reservation is no longer needed!)
So, I get to a library computer, sit down & send my prepared sensitive document to the printer. I go to the printer & input the correct costs to print my documents & the documents do not print right away. Only then did I learn that it may take up to AN HOUR to print this document. Again, no signs up regarding this issue! I had to forward this sensitive document to a librarian sitting at a desk to actually receive my print-out! If it is taking extraordinarily long to print documents from a library computer, should a library official call tech support to get this problem fixed! Apparently this was not a priority problem for any librarian at the Wayne Township library! The customer service at this library could use a vast improvement in my opinion!

I love this library. They offer study rooms, a clean environment, a wonderful book selection, and everything else you'd expect at a library. The reference librarians are amazing and dedicated to helping you find the books you're looking for. The only reason I give it a 4 instead of a 5 is that the front desk staff can be a little noisy and so can some of the patrons. I would not say it's a quiet study environment unless you get a study room (which are wonderful by the way)
